Mega Man Legends 3
Since this is the MM game we've been waiting for, this deserves it's own thread.
Everyone bar Kalyx read past this post. I'm sorry Kalyx, you might ruin this :'( http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/10/me...ipate-in-game/ Quote:

Would be better if they were accepting fan artwork for the characters, instead of just voting on concept art.
Also, never got into the legends series.
The Legends games are my favourite of the Megaman series so I'm really excited for this. I'd love to submit ideas and vote for stuff. It's a pity I have no chance of being in the voice cast slot that's open to one fan because I'm not a voice actor and I'm guessing a Scottish accent wont blend in well with the anime-esque American accents.

I've played the other games and they were good but I never really liked them more than I liked Legends. I didn't play the old NES Megaman games until recently. They were ok but not as great as everyone says, in my opinion.
Megaman X5 for the PS1 is good but I just enjoyed playing Legends more. At the time, I prefered RPG like games to the platform/shooter style and Legends just stuck with me. It's irritating when someone seems to really like something that's clearly subpar and/or bland, isn't it? That's how I feel everytime everyone ejaculates over CoD, Halo or WoW. |
I will always prefer old school 2-d platformers to any other genre or game.
Old school plaformers are great. Old school Megaman platformers just aren't anything special, IMO.
I hated Megaman games when I was younger because I wished they were more like Mario and Sonic.
I guess when I played them more as I got older I started to appreciate them more. It's way more of a challenge than an adventure. Grinding it out and playing one level a bunch of times to figure out how to clear it is pretty fun once you realize that's the point, I think. |
In that regard, megaman games were pretty easy compared to Ninja gaiden, castlevania, and contra.
I was better at Castlevania than Megaman when I was younger. I was probably better at Castlevania back then than I am now really. I dunno why
I've been playing all kinds of Castlevania on my buddy's mame arcade in celebration of October. Ghouls n Ghosts, Zombies Ate My Neighbors and all kinds of horror movie based games too.
Fuck this shit.
Not the concept, I love it, but this shit.
Fan involvement? Or the actual game?
Neither.
Is Khuntry going to submit some art?
That does seem fitting, but I've only heard of these details now so I don't know what he's doing.

Hasney knows. That's all that matters.

How nice for you and hasney. WHy don't you keep it to pm's next time, instead of wasting posts on prime factors nonsense.
Anyone seen the concept art we can vote on? Which did you vote for, if any?

This game just confirmed a definite 3ds purchase. godammit...

I don't know anything. The claims in this thread are ludicrous.

Stay on topic; Mega Man Legends III.

Forgot this was here and I posted in the 3DS thread instead.
MML3: Prototype Version will be a e-shop launch game, selling at about $2 in Japan monies. Cannot freaking wait to pay for a demo, no sarcasm. |

The reaction to both Capcom's announcement and their official forums for the game have people starting an overall boycott of Capcom and not just because the game itself was cancelled but from all the dumb and strange decisions they have been making the last few years.
At least in Mega Man Universe case, that got cancelled very early into development and after some problems couldn't be fixed but MM Legends 3 was very close to being done than other Capcom projects. |
Honestly, what's to boycott? Their two original IP's coming out look alright, butthen you've got a bunch of fighting game updates in SF3, UMVC3 and this AE 2k12 Ono was talking about, SFxT, Dead Rising 2: Off The Record, the awful looking DmC reboot and Racoon City from the Socom B-Team, I think anyone could boycott Capcom without realising they'd done it.

MML3 getting cancelled is our own fault, according to Capcom. We didn't take enough interest in the community dev room thing so they canned the game.
I know, it's retarded. I don't want to develop, I want to play.
Doesn't sound like Seth at all. Would like a better source than... 4chan.
if any of that's true...
yeah
I see nothing wrong with the UMvC3 thing.
The MML3 thing is fucked up, though. Just sad. |
There is a Facebook group looking to get 100,000 people in the hopes of getting the game revived.
They have a gallery with some interesting pictures. http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._5785547_n.jpg http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._7596390_n.jpg http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._4697215_n.jpg Annnnd the "We didn't say that!" shots: http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._3454845_n.jpg http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._7551661_n.jpg |
I hope this doesn't spell the end of the megaman franchise as a whole. With Inafune leaving, both MML3 and Universe getting canceled, it kind of seems that way. Being that it is one of, if not THE most consistently good 2-d platformers out there, it would be a damn shame. The gameplay of this series is timeless, and people will always pay for more, so I don't see the point really.
The next Smash Bros game could determine how much interest Capcom has left with Mega Man since its rumored the next game will have a lot more 3rd party characters and before Inafune left, he tried to get Mega Man into Brawl.
If Capcom doesn't want him in the game, then the MM series could be done for a while. |

Capcom Refused To Let Keiji Inafune To Complete Mega Man Legends 3
For those of you who are still upset over Mega Man Legends 3, there seems to be a lot more fuel to add to this fire. Strategies Japan seemed to have dug up some interesting quotes in an interview with 4gamer.net from former Capcom head Keiji Inafune. So, I told them that I was going to found my own independent company and leave Capcom. However, I stated that I was ready to make a contract with them so that I could keep working on those projects that I started. I couldn’t start making contracts with other publishers for sure if Capcom agreed to the proposition, but I wanted to see those projects that I started to completion. But it couldn’t be done. They answered, ‘We have no need to do that.’ “[I went to the trouble of]…Finding the right time, gathering the team members, planning strategies, all so we could barely start on Mega Man Legends 3. I really don’t want to quit at this crucial moment…but I can’t keep going at Capcom. I am too tired to keep going. I wanted to leave Capcom to recharge my energy, and support Capcom from there, but it seems they don’t allow it. I want to make all my effort to keep Legends 3 alive, but I’m really not sure I can do it.” Wow. That is just really depressing to hear. Inafune himself wanted to take on the completion of Mega Man Legends 3 and Capcom refused? I really don’t think this is gonna sit too well with the fanbase who will never let Mega Man Legends die, such as our resident illustrator Bay. Check out his tribute to the game right here. |
