Cena at #16 my fucking ass....and Batista at #49? Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.......

itsmeJD 11-13-2010 11:26 AM

Though I think my favorite may be #18....N/A had an epic run.

Xero 11-13-2010 11:27 AM

N/A is clearly Benoit.

itsmeJD 11-13-2010 11:30 AM

LOL, so what the fuck are they gonna do on the DVD? Skip #18? or say his name reaaaalllly fast and move forward as if nothing happened?

itsmeJD 11-13-2010 11:35 AM

Though in looking I'm surprised to see Jeff Hardy's name on the list all things considered. And Ric Flair at #17 is a fucking shame...Cena > Flair? Not likely, in ANY category.

Just put up a "scene missing" sign for five minutes.

Kapoutman 11-13-2010 11:40 AM

Top 5 is pretty good at least.

Xero 11-13-2010 11:42 AM

I'm glad to see TNA guys actually making the cut, especially Angle. Obviously in a perfect world he'd be top ten easily, but just to have him on there is awesome.

True. I'm surprised they didn't put Cena #1. I'm ok with the top 5. I might switch the order a little bit because I do feel Flair should have been there. I respect Undertaker and what he's done for wrestling, but to say he can tell a better story in the ring than Slick Ric is silly.

Xero 11-13-2010 11:44 AM

I also have a problem with Cena being above Hogan.

itsmeJD 11-13-2010 11:45 AM

I have a feeling James Steele is gonna be pissed when he says where Trips is placed....ouch.

I agree completely. Their wrestling ability is basically tit for tat, and Hogan was the fucking wrestling God of the 80's. While Cena may be their poster boy now, he in no way compares to those on this list.

maybe they could pixelate his face Cops style, but no one could talk about him due to the WWE Gag order, so they would just pan to wrestlers staring at the camera or looking around the room. Then onto #17.....

Evil Vito 11-13-2010 11:49 AM

#18 isn't Benoit. Flair and Dusty tied for #17, and as such there is no 18 by default.

Think of it as in sports. If two teams are tied in 1st place, the next closest team is technically in 3rd place.

That being said, I don't know why they couldn't have just put one at 17 and one at 18 instead of making it a fucking tie.

VSG 11-13-2010 11:49 AM

Hogan and Cena exchanging places makes it a good list.

BizarroKing 11-13-2010 11:50 AM

N/A should have been number 1.

Also this is what they will talk about Beniot should he actually be in it.

SPOILER: show

The Ravishing One 11-13-2010 11:54 AM

#9 – Rey Mysterio

Really? I think he's good and worthy of this top 50 list, but not above the likes of Hogan, Flair, Triple H, Henning, Savage and Piper (plus more)

BizarroKing 11-13-2010 11:55 AM

If we need to complain about anything on this list, we need to complain about them leaving out the greatest wrestler of all time in the WWE. The only man to ever be undefeated in his WWE Career!

While this totally makes sense, I'm at work and would prefer to sit here and think of funny ways they could include Benoit without including Benoit. Please don't ruin my fun...I'm at work on a fucking Saturday, lol.

Oh and am I the only one interested in WWE putting together a BOTTOM 50 WWE Superstars DVD? Would be fucking awesome.

loopydate 11-13-2010 12:11 PM

My roommate and I were speculating on this when they first announced that the DVD was coming out, basically trying to come out with who had the 50 best WWE careers so, obviously, we weren't thinking about guys like Thesz or Bockwinkel, since they were never "Superstars". This is the list we came up with:

 1. Shawn Michaels
 2. Undertaker
 3. Steve Austin
 4. Bret Hart
 5. Hulk Hogan
 6. The Rock
 7. Triple H
 8. John Cena
 9. Ric Flair
 10. Kurt Angle
 11. Mick Foley
 12. Andre The Giant
 13. Chris Jericho
 14. Roddy Piper
 15. Randy Savage
 16. Eddie Guerrero
 17. Bob Backlund
 18. Bruno Sammartino
 19. Ultimate Warrior
 20. Ted DiBiase
 21. Edge
 22. Jimmy Snuka
 23. Iron Sheik
 24. Tito Santana
 25. Jake Roberts
 26. Rey Mysterio
 27. Owen Hart
 28. Randy Orton
 29. Jeff Hardy
 30. Brock Lesnar
 31. Mr. Perfect
 32. Diesel
 33. Don Muraco
 34. Big Show
 35. Rick Rude
 36. Chris Benoit
 37. Terry Funk
 38. Batista
 39. Ricky Steamboat
 40. Paul Orndorff
 41. Rob Van Dam
 42. Dusty Rhodes
 43. Greg Valentine
 44. Kane
 45. Goldberg
 46. Razor Ramon
 47. Pedro Morales
 48. Davey Boy Smith
 49. CM Punk
 50. Booker T
 51. Yokozuna
We put 51, since we included Benoit. It's weird that our top four is identical to their list, but everything else on their list looks like it was randomized.

Aguakate 11-13-2010 12:21 PM

...Shawn Michaels is #1, and when it comes down to it, that's all that really matters.

Rammsteinmad 11-13-2010 12:31 PM

Wow, as much as I wish the guy was dead, Hogan should be a lot higher up.

And the #17 draw, with #18 being N/A is fucking lame. Come on WWE just pick one guy to be 17 and one to be 18.

Aguakate 11-13-2010 12:37 PM

...Maybe #18 is Owen Hart, and they are trying to not add fuel to Martha's fire by not mentioning him "per se".

SaskatchewanChamp 11-13-2010 12:47 PM

Too argue this list would be moot. The top 5, for the most part is right on.

FakeLaser 11-13-2010 01:03 PM

This is a horrible list

Dante69 11-13-2010 01:18 PM

bullshit list

The Naitch 11-13-2010 01:34 PM

Hogan's gonna be pissed

Fox 11-13-2010 01:35 PM

Cena over Flair? Give me a fucking break.

That's what I said. It's absurd to put Flair so low on this list. I knew it was bullshit when Botchtista was ranked #49

Nicky Fives 11-13-2010 01:50 PM

Cena above Flair is laughable, Mysterio in the Top 10 is beyond questionable, especially since Hoagn is at #23.... my money is on Hogan being top 10 if he weren't in TNA.....

LuigiD 11-13-2010 02:12 PM

Awful. Hogan should be at least in the top 10 regardless of what you think of the guy. Edge ahead of Bruno Sammartino? nothing wrong with Edge..but to imagine Edge having more influence than Bruno is offensive.

James Steele 11-13-2010 02:13 PM

List lost all credibility at #12. What is the point of fucking the boss' daughter if you are only 15 spots better than The Fabulous Moolah.

thedamndest 11-13-2010 02:42 PM

There is no 18 because Flair and Rhodes tied at 17, thus making the next number 19.

yup, was addressed above. Regardless that was a stupid way of doing it. The list is already beyond bullshit anyway, just make one 17 and one 18.

Attitude99 11-13-2010 04:23 PM

Benoit Owen Hart And Kane are missin

CSL 11-13-2010 04:34 PM

lol @ Hogan's spot. He'd be Top 3/5 if he was available for the DVD.

Emperor Smeat 11-13-2010 05:07 PM

Besides the order and ranking of a few wrestlers, the list itself is pretty good compared to other lists WWE does.

Hogan definitely deserved to be in the Top 10 for what he did for the WWE in the 1980s and early 1990s but the Top 5 was a good choice.

The Naitch 11-13-2010 05:14 PM

I think Hogan should've been higher, just because he's Hogan. I think Vince did that to piss him off.

Anybody Thrilla 11-13-2010 05:27 PM

Cena over Flair is not ridiculous. It's accurate. This is based on WWE, so all of Flair's NWA and WCW stuff is moot. Looking at WWE accolades alone, Cena is better than Flair.

itsmeJD 11-13-2010 05:28 PM

If that's accurate, then how in the hell do you explain Harley Race at #6? Harley's WWE career over Flair's? Just sayin...being the "King" don't top championships.

Xero 11-13-2010 05:29 PM

If this were based on WWE over other promotions, Terry Funk would not be ahead of Hogan.

Xero 11-13-2010 05:30 PM

And Gorgeous George, who never wrestled in the WWWF, is #13.

itsmeJD 11-13-2010 05:30 PM

Exactly, that's my point. It's not based on the WWE career obviously, because Dusty Rhodes wouldn't even be TIED for 17th given the other names.

Honestly, just skimmed the list/thread. I guess this isn't just based on WWE, and thusly, this is a crap list. CARRY ON, GENTLEMEN.

Improvise.

Anybody Thrilla 11-13-2010 06:08 PM

Create them on Smackdown v. Raw 2011 and save the Highlight Reel.

McLegend 11-13-2010 06:12 PM

This list is totally accurate.

Anybody Thrilla 11-13-2010 06:20 PM

If McLegend says it, there's absolutely no reason to argue.

itsmeJD 11-13-2010 06:22 PM

No doubt, I stand corrected. I mean, look at his photo. The list is indeed the shit.

McLegend 11-13-2010 06:24 PM

I mean who doesn't think John Cena is better than Ric Flair?

I can't wait to tell my grandchildren that I got to see John Cena give the 5 knuckle to Horswaggle. They'll just love to hear that story.

itsmeJD 11-13-2010 06:24 PM

I musta missed his match with Horswaggle....Clearly this is what bumped him ahead of Flair.

Tazz Dan 11-13-2010 06:28 PM

I'm surprised that by now people are still surprised at how fucked up a "WWE Top ____" list is and are pissed off by it.

itsmeJD 11-13-2010 06:30 PM

I still say we need a DVD on the WWE's Bottom 50. Talk about some epic fucking matches.

SaskatchewanChamp 11-13-2010 06:33 PM

Top 5

1. Hogan
2. HBK
3. Steve Austin
4. Bret Hart
5. Ric Flair

Anybody Thrilla 11-13-2010 06:34 PM

Maybe you can compile a list of TPWW's bottom 50, JD. Start a thread asking people to nominate their least favorites ever, and tally up the 50 most mentioned. It could really skyrocket your TPWW career.

Vastardikai 11-13-2010 06:41 PM

Part of me is surprised that Harley is #6, as they haven't always acknowledged his unabashed awesomeness and badassery.

Then I remember, WLW is the unofficial developmental territory for WWE.

St. Jimmy 11-13-2010 06:49 PM

Love the list.

Hanso Amore 11-13-2010 07:14 PM

This is the top WWE list, right?

Flairs career in the WWE wasnt that amazing. His best work was for Jim Crockett. Think that has something to do with it?

Also, the fact that hogan is not in the top 5 is bleh.

Hanso Amore 11-13-2010 07:15 PM

Buy the 50 they have on the list is hard to debate. Lots of surprises that will be cool to see on the DVD

Mentioned this earlier, it's not based on their WWE career, it's total. Harley Race would definitely not be 6 if this were the case.

It'd be harder to do a bottom 50. There'd be so much wrestlecrap to sift through, let alone trying to rank it all

Xero 11-13-2010 07:55 PM

When it comes to the term "Superstar" instead of "wrestler", my top four are easy.

1. Hogan
2. Rock
3. Austin
4. Flair

After that is when it starts to get dicey.

Anybody Thrilla 11-13-2010 08:19 PM

As much as I dislike him, Goldberg would probably be about next on that list. Talk about a reversal of fortune. :shifty:

TazFTW86 11-13-2010 09:37 PM

this list is booty!! No Taz and SHawn before Bret?

Loose Cannon 11-13-2010 10:47 PM

lol Hogan @ 23 makes this whole thing worthless

Loose Cannon 11-13-2010 11:12 PM

and nice to see Jimmy Snuka coming in @ #32 for doing basically one high spot.

did they forget Ric Flair was a wrestler until they got to 17?

I think Rey Mysterio is a misprint for Sting.

I think JYD is a misprint for Lex Luger.

I think Jeff Hardy is a misprint for Tully Blanchard.

Hogan shouldn't be that low, no matter who he is working for.

And I have no problem with Cena being above Flair. Flair spent most of his best years away from WWE. He could have been a lot lower than where he is.

But of course, I'm going to complain since Christian isn't on the list.

Jimmy Cones 11-14-2010 11:53 PM

WWE fucked up by not getting a hold of the Jimmy Cones' True Pure Average Rank a Wrestler Rankings Spreadsheet.

#1 HBK
#2 Kurt Angle
#3 Steve Austin
#4 The Rock
#5 Randy Savage
#6 Eddie Guerrero
#7 CM Punk
#8 Chris Jericho
#9 Bret Hart
#10 Undertaker

It's still ongoing, but I believe the top ten are pretty immovable. I do disagree with TPWW ranking Punk so high.

Anybody Thrilla 11-16-2010 02:27 AM

Punk could be a solid #7 in about 20 years.

Jeritron 11-16-2010 02:34 AM

I don't know how anyone can say Cena and Hogan are equals in the ring. Cena is a far better wrestler.
The rest is a whole other bag. Yes, Hogan's legacy and original run was way better, but come on.

Jeritron 11-16-2010 02:38 AM

This list also turns into another "define wrestler." Some choices make it seem like they're going by wrestling ability, while others make it seem like they're going by stardom.
Seems like they flip flopped.

Honestly, they just threw a list together. These things never really have much rhyme or reason other than who's included. The order is a crapshoot, and never consistent. So I'm good with it.

Terrible list. If it's a kayfabe list, Hogan should be in the top 2 or 3. I'm surprised Triple H is not in the top 10. They may have done that purposely so people don't say it's just because he's McMahon's son-in-law.

I'm sure they're real concerned about whether a few hundred bitchy smarks will cry conspiracy

Jeritron 11-16-2010 04:52 PM

Triple H's best years and main event rise (97-01) occured before he was romantically involved with Stephanie. Fact.
Maybe he had politicked along the lines, but that's what 99% of champions have done. Unless you're Mick Foley or Chris Jericho, you're probably not on top without stepping on some toes. Get over it.
