Who's death shocked you the most?

So yeah I'd like to hear your thoughts on which wrestlers death shocked, you the most. For me it has to be Owen Hart. I remember watching the Live ppv Over the Edge and thinking that it was just a storyline. Until I found out next day that it was real. I was gutted because I was a big fan of Owen

Juan 11-25-2010 12:07 AM

Benoit.

James Steele 11-25-2010 12:09 AM

Chris Benoit

Especially once everything came to light.

Now why would I do that when crying over meaningless red dots is the only entertaining thing you've done in 10 months? Now do try not to derail this topic any further with your whiney antics.

VSG 11-25-2010 12:44 AM

I am not even sure you are serious anymore. Forget it.

He is not derailing anything, He didn't deserve the red dots in the first place.
I think you miss understood what he wrote and took it personal..

The Juan story: On Sale soon.

DLVH84 11-25-2010 01:18 AM

For me, it would be the following...

Brian Pillman
Owen Hart
Gorilla Monsoon
Jumbo Tsuruta
Gordon Solie
Davey Boy Smith
Curt Hennig
Samson Fuyuki
Miss Elizabeth
Road Warrior Hawk
Big Boss Man
Shinya Hashimoto
Eddie Guerrero
Sherri Martel
Biff Wellington
Chris Benoit
Woman
Mitsuharu Misawa
Luna Vachon

Juan 11-25-2010 01:24 AM

In that order?

Wow Hasney your so mature. lol

I'd have to go with "they are all shocking" when they are young, and since Owen and Benoit are taken...

captaincharismark 11-25-2010 03:55 AM

Wow, it's hard to narrow this down to just one.

I'd say the one that shocked me the most was Owen Hart because it was the most preventable of the wrestling related deaths.

Although ones like Eddie and Benoit also caught me off guard.

And ironically, I consider three all time greats and definately among my favorites.

Tommy Gunn 11-25-2010 04:36 AM

Benoit, because now any future MVP DVD will be missing their Wrestlemania match.

Xero 11-25-2010 10:40 AM

Benoit easily.

thedamndest 11-25-2010 10:42 AM

Lance Cade

Evil Vito 11-25-2010 10:59 AM

Eddie and Benoit were both equally shocking, but I gotta give the edge to Eddie solely because it came first. It was the first "major" wrestling death in a long while. I wasn't expecting to log on that day and find that one of my favorite wrestlers was dead.

Benoit's was more of a "oh fuck, is this really happening again?" type thing

Xero 11-25-2010 11:01 AM

Benoit was more shocking simply for the circumstances. Eddie's was definitely the more shocking in terms of the initial "oh shit, what's going on!?".

VSG 11-25-2010 11:10 AM

Owen Hart took the "oh shit, what's going on!?" spot already.

DInsaneOne 11-25-2010 11:15 AM

I would say Chris Benoit, The circumstances were so shocking that if you tell me the whole thing was a set up I would probably believe it, mind you the evidence in that case is pretty clear cut.

Triple Naitch 11-25-2010 11:26 AM

Undertaker (the third time)

Cool King 11-25-2010 11:29 AM

I'd say Benoit.

I was shocked at Eddie's passing but I was pretty hysterical when I found out about Benoit.

MoFo 11-25-2010 11:35 AM

Test & Kanyon, because I actually gave a shit about those two.

lol at anyone shocked at Benoit, he fucking looked like he was capable of that shit.

DrA 11-25-2010 11:38 AM

Owen Hart because I ordered that pay per view and it was sort of hard to comprehend what actually happened at the time. After British Bulldog/Curt Hennig none of the other ones were really that shocking anymore, save for Eddie Guerrero who was the best wrestler in WWE at the time. Guerrero's death desensitized me to Benoit's, at least until all of that killing stuff was exposed.

The Pope 11-25-2010 11:48 AM

Vince McMahons for sure. :shifty:

So all of those shocked you the MOST? Or was it just an excuse to post those names?

Anyways, for me, Test was a pretty big one. And of course, Owen, Eddie and Benoit.

Xero 11-25-2010 12:01 PM

How is Gordon Solie shocking? He was 71 years old.

CSL 11-25-2010 12:05 PM

Owen followed by Eddie and Benoit, just because of their 'stature'. After Perfect, Bulldog etc, I kind of became desensitized :-\

Cool King 11-25-2010 12:08 PM

So was anyone surprised when Crash died?

I was.

whiteyford 11-25-2010 12:12 PM

Umaga, more so because he was supposed to be getting brought back soon.

Aguakate 11-25-2010 12:16 PM

I think they all surprise you, I mean, none of them were expected, you know. It wasn't like they had a long illness and had to retire from wrestling to take care of it.

Eddie Guerrero's death was shocking. So was Benoit's, and when everything came out, that it was his whole family, even more eso. Pillman's death was shocking too.

But Owen Hart takes everything to a whole 'nother level. He not only died unexpectedly, but was killed during a WWF (WWE) Pay Per View, in front of thousands of fans. So, that one, to me, is the most shocking death of all. I still remember waking up like at 6:30am to go to school, and my mom telling me that she saw on the news that BRET Hart had died, and I was like "WHAT?! BRET DIED?!" Then I found out it was Owen, but it didn't make it any less surprising.

The Fugitive 11-25-2010 12:47 PM

So many good responses here. I don't know who shocked me the most. With Beniot's, it's honestly a blur. I read it and I just stared blankly at the monitor, wondering if my eyes were playing tricks on me, my brain trying to make sense of what I was reading. With Eddie's death, I remember reading it and openly weeping. I didn't do that with Benoit's death, I didn't do that with anyone else's involved in professional wrestling.

I was aware of the WWF when Owen Hart died and while it did make the news here, I wasn't as wrapped up in wrestling then so it didn't affect me the same way it affected others. Overall... I don't think I can stick with one, but at the moment, I'll probably say Guerrero's.

Mr Amazing 11-25-2010 02:04 PM

benoit and guerreros

Damian Rey 11-25-2010 05:06 PM

For me, Eddie, Benoit, and Owen are tops.

Eddie and Owen because they were so beloved not only by their peers, but by legions of fans. I teared up for both Owen and Eddie's Raw tributes. You can just see the love and respect that people had for them. And they left us out of nowhere.

Eddie for me especially. This is guy I had known and loved to watch since WCW. Seeing him win the WWE title after all the struggles and hardships he endured due to his own demons, only to overcome that and become one of the greatest success stories ever is heartbreaking.

Benoit takes the "WTF" factor. Once the real story hit, it was surreal. You watch a guy do his thing for ten years or so and then all of a sudden he goes and does to his family what he did. Unreal.

Oh yea it was a lot longer. But I hadn't known about him till he got into WCW. I was only 9 years old when I first watched him and outside of whatever past they may have alluded to during his matches, I didn't know anything about him back then.

TheAdamEvansFan 11-25-2010 07:03 PM

Tie between McMahon dying in the explosion and then coming to life the next night, and Undertaker being bured alive like 28 times now.

1) Because I didn't see it coming
and
b) He was a big mother fucker to be hanging from a ceiling fan

Either way it sucked as he was pretty awesome for a big man (no pun intended).

Fabulous moolah

Jeritron 11-26-2010 01:25 AM

Benoit certainly, especially given the circumstances.

I wasn't really watching when Eddie died, so I heard about it through the grapevine. I heard about Owen's death the next day in school

With Benoit, I literally found out when I turned on Raw that night and the graphic came up. I was pretty stunned, and saddened. For that night, I had no clue about what had really happened.
Then the real story broke and it was even more shocking. That was a pretty wild week for news/to be a wrestling fan.

Besides, I wasn't the one who started go off topic, Sixx was.

And yeah, I am "one jolly fellow" (nice comeback btw). Funny you claim I have no understanding of the English language, considering your intial insult made no sense at all from a grammar standpoint. What are we 13???

As far as wrestler's death's, Owen's would have to be in a category all by itself, considering it happened live on PPV with thousands in attendance and millions watch it.(See at least unlike some "jobber trolls"when I respond to bashing, I can stay on topic, it's called multi-tasking).

BizarroKing 11-26-2010 05:28 PM

Guerrero, Benoit, and Umaga.
