WWE officials have discussed ceasing the "Spinner" belt as a result of The Miz becoming champion, reports the Wrestling Globe Newsletter. A newly designed belt has been ready since late last year.

Yeah, while I would rejoice over the spinner belt being retired, the WWE has had some bad moves with titles recently. The new WWE Tag Team Titles don't really bother me, but did some people. They definitely could have been better. Then they went with the Divas Title over the Women's Title. Why? I don't fucking know. Oh, and they have had the spinner belt for the last, I dunno, five fucking years!

Basically, the WWE have been going with different rather than good recently. But I hope that they've gone back to tradition with this new belt. Might as well start off 2011 and a new decade with it.

Since it doesnt spin anymore, the only thing I dont like about it is that it says "Champ" instead of "Champion" on it. Other then that, I have no problem with it, but I also have no problem with them changing it either.

I can picture the Miz with that McDonalds belt now, and its a huge improvement on the non spinning spinner belt.

Its their version of Austin's flaming skulls championship belt. When Hardy loses, the old belt will magically return. But this only shows that Hardy will be champ for a loooong time.

IF Miz gets a new belt, I can't see it being "traditional-looking". Miz's whole promo last night was about how the old regime never gave him credit for anything - why would he want a belt that reminds people of them?

I feel that the spinner signifies everything that is Cena. Having Miz destroy it and bringing out any other title will be great and make sense.

I don't see him getting a custom belt, though.

Maybe they're waiting until they decide about a possible unification before they adopt a new title.
If they explore that option in 2011, like rumored, they'd want a new belt to take over once the current ones are merged. No sense in bringing out the new one now if they're just going to have to create another shortly after.

Nah, it looks like some kind of midcard title to me. It's all the rhinestones that make it look like a lower-tier belt. Face it, the TPWW Golden Arches Championship is where it's at!

Let's go back to basics:

* The belt should be gold.

* Put an eagle on it. All the WWE championships have had an eagle on them, I guess (and that includes the shitty spinner). I wouldn't mind it if the eagle was silver, or something like that, if they wanted to change things up.

* There should be something symbolising the world on it. The WWE Champion is meant to be a World Champion, so that makes sense.

* The belt should be symmetrical. That's one thing that annoys me about the current design. Symmetry is representative of beauty, and a title belt should be beautiful.

* The belt should have the word "Champion" on it.

It seems like such a simple thing, but I do suspect that at least one of those things will be out.

Personally, I would not mind it if the WWE changed a few of their belts around. On the RAW side of things, anyway. We've had the same US Title for eight years now, and it's still pretty ugly. It'd be nice if it returned to some state of glory.

Just out of curiosity, aside from the "swish" mark beneath the WWE logo, what about the current belt ISN'T symmetrical?

If a new belt exists I'm pretty suprised it hasn't leaked in some fashion. The fact that no images of it would hit the internet sort of hints to me that it's not going to show up that soon.
You would imagine the design would go through Mattel so that it could be prepared for toys in advance. They're not going to want a new title debuting on the product and then have to wait months before they can cash in on it.

Or maybe they're just really good at keeping a lid on it. Or maybe I'm talking out my ass.

If the Diva's title was designed by someone on a bad trip....

Or just gets high and "forgets" to get on the plane to the show.

The chances of the belt containing the word "wrestling" are very low.

The only reason they kept the Cena spinner belt was for merchandise. Prior to that, you would never see that many people in the crowd with belts (sure there would be that one fat nerd who shelled $700 for a replica). Nobody was waving their freshly bought eagle winged belt (Bret hart era) or big round gold Attitude belt.

Plus the spinner belt was resized for kids. Hell, I even went to the grocery store to see the Cena spinner belt in the toys aisle. It goes for $19.99. They even had the WHC and ECW Title. Hell I was even thinking about buying one. You would've never seen that with the other belts.

Though I do agree that it's for merchandising, this is a load of shit for two reasons.

1. You didn't see AS MANY, but there were CERTAINLY people with replicas throughout the crowd prior to the spinner. And the foam ones, too.

2. Before the spinner the titles were more expensive and were more rare. You could only order them from the magazines or online. Now they're sold at shows.

Also, my supermarket sells the IC, old school tag and WHC. I have actually not seen the spinner.

ALSO, all the replicas (not counting the toy belts) come in kid sizes, and have for a long time. Pre-spinner I believe.

I like the WWE one way better. The WCW looks too generic and reminds me of Goldberg, Bret Hart and WCW. The WWE one looks more modernized, aside from the fact that it is a bit too small.

They are really trying to push hardy and the TNA majority (little goth girls) love him because he is "dark and tormented" or some shit like that..... idk either way its a gay title. WWE need to redesign the WWE championship so its not 3D... should just be flat like that World Title.
