is by far Shelton Benjamin v. Shawn Michaels, 2004 Gold Rush Tournament Qualifying Match. Stuff like this makes me tell people who say "you still watch that" to shut the fuck up because when you watch Real World religiously, you can't say shit to me:

I dunno, there's so many matches that have been lost in time that could claim that title. The Kurt Angle/Brock Lesnar Iron Man match from Smackdown was amazing.

I haven't even seen that Angle/Lesnar match...i'm kind of high right now so checking that out would just be fabulous :cool:

That was a standard match, the Iron Man match was on a Smackdown.

Michaels vs Shelton has been trumpeted for years, it's not exactly an underrated match.

Not really. People say they like the match, but that match GAVE you the thought process that Benjamin was on his way, that could've turned into a fued "new skool arrogant high flyer v. old school "focus and stop thinking your hot shit" veteran who could "teach" stuff to him...that match right there should've been definitely nominee for like a match of the decade or SOMETHING.

Exactly. In fact, it's the most referenced match when anyone wanders onto the topic of how good Shelton Benjamin was at the time, and his wasted potential. A good under-rated match would be something we haven't heard of a hundred times before.

Check out any match John Morrison had in ECW, particularly against Evan Bourne or his title loss against CM Punk, instead.

One that instantly came to mind was the ~1 hour main event on Raw featuring HBK and John Cena. Never got bored the whole time.

Kurt Angle vs Marty Jannetty on Smackdown in 2005 was a good match

Angle/Brock Iron Man Match is the first to come to mind for me......

HHH vs Shelton Benjamin in April 2004 was a brilliant match. It's a shame WWE didn't release that on a DVD (they're not exactly going to anytime soon as it shows HHH jobbing cleanly to Shelton)

Michaels was absolutely epic in this match. Anyone who can make Jim Duggan look that good has to be bloody amazing.

Most of the matches being mentioned seem pretty highly rated among fans. I dunno.

I can't really think of one that is hardly ever mentioned right now. The HHH/Austin vs Benoit/Jericho Tag Titles match is one of the best TV matches I've ever seen, but that gets love.
Jericho/Edge cage match?

I quite enjoyed the triple threat tag match from the MSG Raw a couple years ago. Jericho/Show vs DX vs Cena/Taker

The only one that comes to my mind right now is HBK vs Cena in England.

I still haven't seen that HBK vs Cena match. Don't remember why I missed that episode but I did.

Check it out. HBK won. Sweet finish, too.

Shelton vs HBK I & II were the goods, so was Shelton vs Kurt Angle on Raw and HBK vs HHH before their royal rumble match

Yea the HBK vs Cena match was absolutely great. The Mania one wasn't as bad as people act, but if that one had happened at Mania I think it would be hailed as an alltime classic.

The crowd they had in the rematch was awesome too, so that helped complete the overall package.

Crowds at the last couple WrestleManias haven't really been "hot", as opposed to other PPV's throughout the year...I don't know why.

How are matches that everyone loves "underrated?"

John Morrion vs. Evan Bourne on Morrison's last night on ECW is one of my favorite matches ever. It wouldn't be underrated if anybody actually watched ECW, though.

Shawn Michaels' first Intercontinental title win over the British Bulldog is another all-time favorite. It wouldn't be underrated around these parts at least if it didn't happen in 1992.

I had never seen this until yesterday. I'm only calling it underrated because I never see it talked about:

This is only about half the match (it was about 2 minutes long) but this is the best sub-five minute match I've ever seen.

Tazz v Triple H on Raw (ECW Champ v WWF Champ) was fantastic.

Never actually watched this from start to finish, only a highlight reel gimmick and the finish. Turns out it's very good and it made me think of this thread. Surprising I know given who's involved.

My cousin use to have this match on one of those old school coliseum home videos. I remeber this being my favorite match on the tape for two reasons; it's a good match, and I was a die hard Bret mark.
