Basham suing WWE

From PWInsider:

The Courier Journal in Louisville, Kentucky is reporting that an 18 year old man is suing World Wrestling Entertainment, Triple H and Dwayne Johnson for an injury he allegedly suffered in 2000 at the age of seven during the 2000 WWF Judgment Day PPV, which was headlined by Johnson vs. HHH in an Iron Man Match.

According to the article, the crowd swarming after Triple H and Johnson brawled into the crowd caused a chain reaction that ended with a woman falling atop of the then-seven year old, causing knee and leg injuries.

The lawsuit was filed after the plaintiff, identified only as "Basham" in the article, required surgery on his knee recently. His attorney is claiming there is no statue of limitations for filing the lawsuit since "Basham" was a minor when he was allegedly hurt.

The lawsuit accuses the WWE of failing to properly stage the match and provide adequate security for its customers. Both Johnson and Triple H are accused of “reckless, willful and wanton conduct."

WWE declined to respond to media requests on the lawsuit, which was filmed this past Monday.

Same here. Although this is just slightly more ridiculous.

VSG 01-05-2011 04:20 PM

Shouldn't he be 17 if he was 7 on May 21, 2000?

Razzamajazz 01-05-2011 04:46 PM

he should sue the woman for not being able to keep her balance

VSG 01-05-2011 04:48 PM

He should go ahead and sue HBK for not controlling Rock and HHH.

Unless his 8th birthday came after May 21.

Rammsteinmad 01-05-2011 05:07 PM

15 years ago I fell over at school and grazed my elbow.

I'm having surgery on my elbow tomorrow.

This is my schools fault from 15 years ago for negligence!

Nah not really, but this is basically how I interpret the story.

If anything, they will settle out of court and give this shithead a little cash. Which, is probably all Basham wants to begin with.

Why does Triple H have two names?

Paul Michael Levesque
Jean Paul Levesque

Did he change his name or something?

VSG 01-05-2011 07:04 PM

Was he actually Jean Paul? I thought it was his ring name. Also, I bet Basham's name prompted that "2nd or 3rd" thread of yours.

Xero 01-05-2011 07:05 PM

Yes it did.

FourFifty 01-05-2011 08:30 PM

Why didn't his parents take action when it happened? Just sayin'....

Emeye 01-05-2011 08:41 PM

I doubt the WWE will fight it. They won't want to have the kid making this a big deal and having the story all over the world. I'm sure they will just give him a nice amount of money (I'd ballpark around $15,000-40,000, and pay for the hospital bills). That money isn't too much of a hurt to WWE, and it is enough to make the kid never speak of the incident again. He will be happier then a pig in shit with that kind of money.

What are all of your opinions? Do you think they will just give him the money to end this as fast as possible before it blows up? If so, around how much do you think they will settle out for?

thedamndest 01-05-2011 09:03 PM

HHH and Basham should settle this in a ladder match with a briefcase full of settlement papers hanging high above the ring.

its been 10 in a half years later why is he sueing now

SlickyTrickyDamon 01-05-2011 11:32 PM

Isn't there a statute of limitations for this sort of thing?

AKin3D 01-06-2011 12:01 AM

A injury to a minor extends until they're 18. Not sure how long after they turn, that they have to file.

Xero 01-06-2011 12:02 AM

It'd be great if they used footage from the PPV to prove this case.

Kane Knight 01-06-2011 01:33 AM

Gotta be Noid. What other child would remember the Bashams and make use of the name?

Yeah, how stupid to only sue after surgery was required!

Wait, aren't you usually against frivolous lawsuits? What kind of fucktarded logic would have you suggest they sue first and ask questions later? Doesn't only suing when there's need fit with the concept of a sensible lawsuit?

Explained in the first post, FFS.

Aguakate 01-06-2011 01:41 AM

If I was a judge and I got this case assigned to me, I'd be very pissed, and I would let "Basham" know about it in court.

Waivers like that never function absolutely. Courts have ruled against them before, and will continue to based on circumstances.

The guy suing the WWE over an alleged injury he suffered at a live event 11 years ago might have a tough time in court -- because he not only races stock cars nowadays ... he also crashes them.

As we previously reported, Ronald Basham claims he was only 7-years-old when The Rock ran into the crowd during a match in Kentucky in 2000 ... sending a female fan stumbling onto Ronald's leg ... which caused injuries that have plagued him ever since.

But in the years that followed, Ronald not only played high school football ... he also picked up a dangerous little hobby -- stock car racing ... a hobby that he loved to document with photos all over his public Facebook page.

However, after filing his lawsuit ... the photos, which include shots of Ronald crashing into a wall, suddenly went MIA.

Ronald's lawyer tells us, "He has a long medical history with knee problems and as far as I know his knee was never injured [from racing cars]."

Small problem for the kid- If you're standing on a chair in any venue you're being unsafe. Not saying a jury will say that, but it's common sense.
The kid also played football, and crashed cars. Yea, I'm gonna say the kid has a coin toss at best with seeing anything, and it might be the ambulance ride at best. Good luck, ya dumb kid.

"They didn't plan to sue, until WWE refused to pay for anything, even the ambulance."

Took ten years to decide that...

The little shit was standing on a chair. If I was injured in that way, I wouldn't sue the WWE, or the building, or even the woman who fell on me. I'd say to myself "you know, you're fucking retarded. You deserved that."
