Tag teams that never happened
So today I was going through my CDs and scoped out the WWE Anthology cds. Disk 1, the federation years. Two tracks came to mind that made me think of what would have worked with each other.
Mankind & Sycho Sid It just clicks. Two guys who have mental issues. One who likes giving pain, and one who likes receiving it. Two people who if it wasn't for doctor/patient confidentiality issues would have made a team of therapists rich based on what they've told them. You have different styles, and it would work. Animal and Crush As a heel team. Each one claiming to be the anchor of their older teams (The Legion of Doom and Demolition). No one likes a glory hog, let alone someone who says they made their respective partners famous. Add in Knobs or Saggs, and you have a nice little stable going on. Lex Luger and Steve "Mongo" Of course, it'll be Luger pulling the team. It gives Mongo more credibility, and they could play face or heel. You ever have any teams that never happened, that seems like a decent idea? |
Godfather and Val Venis. 'Supply & Demand'
|
Heidenreich and Eugene as the superfriends. Two mentally challenged wrestlers, one who loves old wrestling, and one who reads poems. Throw in Snitsky simply for his interaction with Heidenreich about liking poems and liking what Snitsky does to babies..and bam. Instant stable.
|
did Gene and Heidenreich ever happen?
|
Stan Hansen and Stone Cold Steve Austin, or David Schultz and Stone Cold Steve Austin. Mean motherfuckers of their time.
-edit- either a tweener type face team or just a ruthless heel team, like Austin and HHH. |

Supply and Demand was rumored for the longest time. I remember reading that here I believe.
The rumors actually had that name too |

Elijah Burke & Shelton Benjamin
A MAJOR dream team of mine. I was shocked it never happened, and it could have easily been explained when Elijah brought in Shelton to ECW. Two incredible black wrestlers, Burke could have carried the mic work, both could have done their jobs well in the ring, and Benjamin could have been the OMG moment maker with his incredible spots. I just don't know how WWE missed this money maker. Now that Burke is in TNA, I don't see why they don't bring in Shelton to make the team there and have them feud with MCMG until the end of time. Seriously, people, someone get off your ass and make this team! TOVO Fact: Tovo doesn't entirely understand the BCS ranking system. |
Mabel and Bob "Spark Plug" Holly
The 1-2-3 Kid and the Macho Man Yokozuna and Bart Gunn These are all tag teams that never happened. |
Renegade and Ultimate Warrior
Hercules and Zeus Andres the Giant and Giant Gonzales |
Randy Savage and Marty Jannetty
Reason being, Savage was an ally of Jannetty's during his mini-feud with Doink The Clown in June 1993, teamed up at Survivor Series 1993 as part of Scott Hall's team, and congratulated him and the 1-2-3 Kid on winning the Tag Titles in January 1994. |
Savage & Warrior. If it did happen, I want to see it.
|
Ted DiBiase and John Cena...
THE MARINES! :shifty: |

I haven't seen some of this for years, a couple of those I've never seen. Their promos together were a fucking riot.
|
I'll go ahead and say it Goldust and 'Dashing' Cody Rhodes
|

Matt Hardy & Christian is a more recent one that came to my head. It seemed that they would be allies against Drew McIntyre & Cody Rhodes (or perhaps even feud against each other), but it just didn't go anywhere. The idea of two tag team specialists who used to be rivals teaming together had me interested.
The Nexus angle was hotter than anything they could have done separately, but Matt Hardy & Justin Gabriel seemed like such a natural flow from NXT to get Gabriel over. |
John Morrison and Evan Bourne
The Big Show and Paul White :shifty: Undertaker and Fake Undertaker  Rock and Kane...not sure if it ever happened Michaels and Evan Bourne Mysterio and Evan Bourne Your mom and Evan Bourne Evan Bourne and Evan Bourne Evan Bourne Evan Bourne Evan Bourne Evan Bourne Evan Bourne Evan Bourne Evan Bourne Evan Bourne Evan Bourne Evan Bourne Evan Bourne Evan Bourne Evan Bourne Evan Bourne Evan Bourne Evan Bourne Evan Bourne Evan Bourne Evan Bourne Evan Bourne Evan Bourne Evan Bourne Evan Bourne Evan Bourne Evan Bourne Evan Bourne Evan Bourne Evan Bourne |
Since I brought them up, I always thought a feud on SmackDown! between Matt Hardy & Justin Gabriel and Christian & Heath Slater would be cool.

The Big Show and Eli Cottonwood - "The Worlds Largest Tag Team....with and without Mustaches".
|
Jericho and AJ Styles would have been awesome 8 years ago. AJ as the dumb heel and Jericho as the mouth-piece and team leader.
|
Jericho & Miz.

Warrior and Savage were amazing.

The Iron Sheik and the "Original" Sheik- I know it sounds comedic to start (plus there was a 15 year diffrence in their careers), but think about the technical style of the Iron Sheik combined with the vicious sadistic Original Sheik.
Doink the Clown and Goldust (heels)- I say it all the time, Matt Borne and Dustin as their bizzare counterparts would work soo well together Macho Man Randy Savage and Bob Backuland- I dont know if they ever did but they both use to "snap" in the mid 80s and that would have been great to watch (plus they were both great in ring preformers) Side note, Dustin Rhodes and Big Josh (Matt Borne) actually teamed together in WCW, they ended up holding the six man tag titles |
Rick Rude and Mr. Perfect
|
Goldberg and Gillberg: The BLAH!!!!!!! Brothers
|
Rick Rude and Jake "the Snake" Roberts- Mustache Inc. :shifty:
|
"Supply and Demand" would work better as the Godfather/Ric Flair.
Except...Creepier. |
Boogeyman and Pappa Shango
|
Abe "Knuckleball" Schwartz and The Goon
|
Mr. Anderson and Billy Gunn: ones an asshole, the others just an ass.
X-Pac and R-Truth - The XPRTs |
Kevin Nash and Kane
Stone Cold and Mr. Anderson Rhyno and Jesse Neal Kazarian and RVD would love to see RVD and Sabu again |
I was just thinking, if the Legion of Doom is inducted into the Hall of Fame this year, what if Animal challenged The Core? It could be used to elevate a guy that has been overlooked and hasn’t had much time invested in them. David Hart Smith could potentially benefit.
|
Bring back Road Warrior Heidenreich.
|
Ric Flair and "The Repo Man"
|

Real shame that the Ultimate Maniacs did not last longer.
|
The Sandman & CM Punk - "The Odd Couple"
|
Iron Sheik & Scott Steiner would be a lulzfest.
Also, The Rock & Val Venis - "Rock & Cock Connection" |
every tag team other than the ones that happened
|
Sting and Undertaker - Add Tommy Dreamer and it'll be a dream trio (the main guys that stayed in their respective promotions)
Blackjack Lanza and JBL - Uncle and nephew team, closest it'll get to be Barry Windham and Blackjack Mulligan. Randy Savage and Brian Pillman - These two would've made a great Loose Cannon team. Shawn Michaels and Ricky Fuji - The International Sexy Boys. Marty Jannetty and Van Hammer |

Oh, wait... didn't he get pissed he was only a "private" in M.I.A. and promote himself to Mjr. Stash? That gave them two majors, the other of which was more appropriate given the two... commendations on her chest, and Pvt. Stash was a slightly funnier name. Anyway... add in Brad Armstrong (as the pale imitation of his brother rip-off Buzzkill), bring back the RVD 420 shirts, and you got yourself a stable and merch ready to go! |
I want Regal I want Barrett I want McIntyre and I want Sheamus I want Mason Ryan and I want them now, British Invasion style but done properly.
|
And call them The Empire.

In fact, Taker wrestled in WCW before WWE.
|
Undertaker and Big Show back in 1999 (although technically, they tag'd once against The Acolytes).
I think they were going to call themselves 'Armageddon' but my memory is a bit blurry. Before the tag team could take off, Taker got sidelined with injury. |
The same Undertaker and Big Show that won the tag belts twice?
|
Undertaker knew Big Show's secret.
|
Big Show and Big Bossman- Whos your big daddy?

Also another one I just thought of Smash and Animal... The Legion of Demolition lol.
|
La Resistance & The Road Warriors.
wait for it......... wait for it......... wait for it......... THE FRENCH FOREIGN LEGION OF DOOM!!! |
Jushin Thunder Liger and Rey Mysterio, Jr. - Although they had wrestled at each other before, they were never a team.
|
Just watched No Way Out 2009 and the 5 minute showdown where Big Show and Kozlov traded off beatings to Jeff Hardy got me thinking that a heel team of ShowLov would have been pretty good.

Sandman and Stone Cold- I swear to drunk I'm not god
|
Tatsumi Fujinami and Ricky Steamboat - The Dragons
Jackie Fulton and Tommy Rogers - The Fantastics Keiichi Yamada and Dynamite Kid - Before being Liger, of course. For a stable... Superstar Billy Graham, Jesse Ventura, Hulk Hogan, and Scott Steiner - MuscleMania |
Jericho and Michaels
Samoa Joe and Taz |
Marty Jannetty and Lance Storm
|
Randy Orton & Brian Pilman - We hear voices
|
Here's a mixed tag team
Rick Martel and Madusa Miceli - Models, Inc. |
Mr. Perfect & Dolph Ziggler
William Regal & Daniel Bryan I want an Edge & Mix team up just so they could have "Rated Awesome" merchandise. Also, Eddie Guerrero and Ric Flair could have been an awesome team in theory. |
Steve "Dr. Death" Williams and Dr. Wagner Jr.
La Parka and the Undertaker Awesome Kong and Awesome Kong (of the Colossal Kongs) Hakushi and Glacier Vampiro and Golga Great Khali and Giant Gonzales Crusher Kruschev (sp?) and the Masked Superstar :shifty: |
