Official WWE Hall of Fame 2011 Discussion

Figured we could use an official thread for this.

Supreme Olajuwon 01-10-2011 11:36 PM

WHO THE FUCK IS IT

VSG 01-10-2011 11:36 PM

OH, THE SUSPENSE!

TOVO Fact: Tovo's favorite class in grade school was gym.

Not a single guy on earth deserves this more good for the Heart Break Kid

BizarroKing 01-11-2011 12:14 AM

Congrats HBK!

SPOILER: show
Arn Anderson is said to be a lock for the HOF as well

DLVH84 01-11-2011 01:08 AM

For what he did for the WWE for nearly 22 years, I agree with the induction. I hope someone in HBK's past induct him...Marty Jannetty, Triple H...hell, even Chris Jericho.

Congratulations, Shawn!!!

James Steele 01-11-2011 01:16 AM

DLVH, it is obvious who will induct Michael Shawn Hickenbottom into the World Wrestling Entertainment Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame...

Aguakate 01-11-2011 01:36 AM

I remember reading somewhere (I think TPWW's front page...who, of course, copied it from another wrestling website, certainly), that the idea of having Bret Hart induct HBK had been thrown around. Who knows?

If not, it'll almost certainly be Triple H.

Rammsteinmad 01-11-2011 01:41 AM

Well it's about time.

The One 01-11-2011 01:42 AM

Anyone who doesn't think it will be Triple H to induct him is delusional.

TOVO Fact: Tovo does not use the expression; "Don't go there." There is no where that is off limits for Tovo.

Aguakate 01-11-2011 01:45 AM

I wouldn't be too sure.

I certainly can see Vince McMahon inducting him.

chrisat928 01-11-2011 02:54 AM

JR.

The MAC 01-11-2011 04:34 AM

It will be HHH.

Shawn has said that he wanted Bret to induct him but we all know how HHH will react.

Mr. Nerfect 01-11-2011 05:38 AM

It will be whoever Shawn Michaels wants to induct him. If he wants it to be Triple H, it will be Triple H. If he wants it to Bret Hart, for whatever reason, I'm sure Triple H will let it be so. It is HBK's moment.

Arn Anderson is said to be a lock, but I do also hope we get what Drew McIntyre and Matt Striker have teased on SmackDown!, and Theodore Long makes it in as a less prominent induction.

JimmyMess 01-11-2011 07:38 AM

As great as this is for HBK I would love to see the boys Nash, Hall andPac. Already saw Waltman's twitter about it...

Mr. Nerfect 01-11-2011 09:17 AM

Ron Simmons is someone I could see going in. He was the first African-American World Champion, played a pretty integral part in the dawning of the Attitude era, and was a fun part of it himself as part of the APA. Plus, he still has a good relationship with the WWE.

This one is a bit of a stretch, but as far as other big names go, what if Vince McMahon gets sneaky and slips Brock Lesnar in? Vince has apparently said he wants Lesnar to be a part of WrestleMania, and Dana White has said it won't happen -- but what if Vince uses the Hall of Fame as a way of edging it in?

Fit Finlay is another less featured addition I can see. The guy's career is pretty much over -- the only difference between now and later is that Finlay is going to get older. With the WCW theme rumoured, Finlay has ties to that, too.

Triple Naitch 01-11-2011 10:13 AM

I'm hoping to see Simmons, Malenko (could be the brothers going in as a duo), AA, and maybe some sort of WCW celebrity (Rodman, Leno, Ted Turner).

erickman 01-11-2011 10:21 AM

they might put the outsiders in and make it a klic reunion, an if they can get sting, they may be able to do a nwo type screw job on the undertaker.

Providence Peep 01-11-2011 10:22 AM

Is Daffney being inducted, too? :shifty:

For anyone who missed this on the front page: Sean “X-Pac” Waltman tweeted the following regarding Shawn Michaels WWE Hall of Fame induction: “I have no words right now to describe how happy I am for Shawn. No one deserves it more. I will be there to see him inducted if I have to f—ing hitchhike to get there… I would love for the Wolfpac to be in attendance that night. I’m trying to think of the last time The Kliq were all together. 2002?”

BizarroKing 01-11-2011 10:42 AM

I'm still hoping it will contain mostly WCW alumni

Abdullah The Butcher Says He'll Be A 2011 WWE Hall Of Fame Inductee

Abdullah the Butcher told our friend Arada Ocal on his "Right After Wrestling" radio show Monday night that he will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year. He said he'd like Terry Funk to induct him and if he and Hulk Hogan feuded today, they would draw money.

Interesting.

Supreme Olajuwon 03-01-2011 10:30 AM

Even more interesting though, is who's gonna induct Bullet Bob Armstrong. Because having Scott the referee do it seems like a letdown when he's got a much more famous son that could do it...

Supreme Olajuwon 03-01-2011 10:33 AM

Hey Supreme, who's his more famous son? :?:

Supreme Olajuwon 03-01-2011 10:34 AM

Oh, you didn't know?

Seth82 03-01-2011 11:21 AM

Bullet Bob Armstrong definitely deserves the HOF induction

He was a damn good wrestler in the 70's and 80's

I'd like all 4 of his sons to induct him

Plus it'd be cool to see what Brad looks like nowadays

actually Brad is just as famous as Brian

There not gonna induct someone who wrestles in TNA :shifty:

Side Note, I think its sad when they mention that Bullet's boots are 35 years old and that older than most of the TNA roster at that time. Too bad thats not true today :'(

Seth, Brad Armstrong was a damn good wrestler but he was nowhere near as famous as one half of one of the most popular tag teams in history.

Brad was a helluva lot better then his brother Road Dogg

2011 WWE Hall of Fame Thread [Spoilers]

So far we know that the class this far is:

Shawn Michaels
"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan
"Bullet" Bob Armstrong

and a report says: http://www.businessinsider.com/full-...evealed-2011-2

SPOILER: show
The remaining names have been leaked on the full 2011 WWE Hall of Fame class. The Road Warriors, Abdullah the Butcher, Sunny, and Bob Armstrong will join Jim Duggan and Shawn Michaels in the WWE Hall of Fame. Highlights from the ceremony will air on the USA Network on April 4.
Dave Meltzer dropped the names on a recent podcast available on F4Wrestling.com.

St. Jimmy 03-03-2011 03:43 AM

I think that's a legit class. I can't complain.

Volare 03-03-2011 10:12 AM

Yeah, now he might have to eat those words. I really doubt Hunter really has time for the shoot vids, but word probably got around to him, so you really don't know what could/would happen.

It was never aired "live", except that one year they did it online (although that also may have been on a 30 minute or so delay). On TV it's always been about an hour or two after the fact.

Corndad 03-06-2011 05:11 PM

*Spoiler* The biggest name announced for the HOF yet!

SPOILER: show
DREW CAREY TO ENTER WWE HALL OF FAME

WWE is proud to announce the newest member of the 2011 WWE Hall of Fame — comedian and game show host Drew Carey. The WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony presented by THQ’s "WWE All Stars" will take place at the Phillips Arena on Saturday, April 2 and the one-hour TV special will air Monday, April 4 at 8/7c on USA Network.

Drew Carey is the latest member of the celebrity wing of the WWE Hall of Fame, joining the likes of Pete Rose, Bob Uecker and William “Refrigerator” Perry. Other members of the 2011 WWE Hall of Fame Class include “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels, “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, “Bullet” Bob Armstrong and the original WWE Diva, Sunny.

Carey established his place in WWE history as a surprise entrant in the 2001 Royal Rumble. However, Carey’s fortunes quickly turned, when the massive WWE Superstar Kane entered the ring, prompting Carey to eliminate himself from the match.

Carey, a former United States Marine Reservist, is the host of “The Price Is Right” and star of “The Drew Carey Show” and “Whose Line Is It Anyway?”. Carey will lead a cast of improvisation all-stars, including Ryan Styles, Colin Mochrie, Greg Proops, Brad Sherwood and Kathy Kinney, in the new series “Drew Carey’s Improv-A-Ganza,” which premieres April 11 at 8 pm ET/PT on GSN. Each episode will showcase a half-hour of improvised sketch comedy complete with audience participation.

Yup.

Lara Emily 03-14-2011 02:02 PM

Meh whatever it's the celeb wing.

Jeritron 03-14-2011 02:07 PM

Bob Barker to induct

Lara Emily 03-14-2011 02:15 PM

Seriously? cause that's an awesome idea.

Jeritron 03-14-2011 02:20 PM

It just came to me. I'm sure Vince would love it. Rumor was they wanted Barker invovled with Mania weekend anyways so it all just seems like a natural fit

That'd be amazing.

Corndad 03-14-2011 02:29 PM

Mr. T. anyone? If anyone deserves to be in Celebrity Wing its him. He freakin Main Evented 2 Manias. Mike Tyson too just ushering in the Attitude Era at WM 14 but Mr. T should undoubtedly be in.

Jordan 03-14-2011 02:31 PM

Yeah that would be the only way to make sense of this induction.

Yeah Mr. T should be in! Hell WWE should make him the anonymous GM

Jeritron 03-14-2011 02:32 PM

It's not a matter of who they want so much as it probably is who they can get. They need the inductee to show up and accept, if they want to get anything out of it.

I'm sure Mr. T and Tyson would both be in right now if scheduling had allowed for it, but until they decide they want to fly out to Wrestlemania weekend it's not going to happen.
If it was up to Vince, he'd put whoever he could that was the most famous in.

SlickyTrickyDamon 03-14-2011 02:36 PM

Bob Barker should be the one getting inducted BY Drew not the other way around.

Jeritron 03-14-2011 02:39 PM

No. Reversing it is what makes it interesting. This is showbusiness

Xero 03-14-2011 05:17 PM

I've heard they wanted Mr. T, but he was insulted when they put Pete Rose in before him and turned them down.

And I can't blame him, honestly. Yeah, it's a mark thing to do for the WWE HOF, especially the celebrity wing, but T deserves it more than almost anyone else celeb-wise, outside of maybe Lauper and Tyson.

Really? Outside of maybe Tyson? Mr. T is WAY more deserving.

By the way, Tiny "Zeus" Lister for the celebrity wing! I mean... it's just the celebrity wing. Time to get a good amount of people in that shit.

they need to put andy kaufman in there they should have put him in this year since lawler is wrestling.

Corndad 03-15-2011 07:50 PM

After watching the Real Story of Mania today there are definitely some that should go in I was reminded of. The previously stated Mr T. and Tyson obviously.

I would throw Donald Trump in. His involvement in WM 4 and WM 5 at his place. Along with the whole Battle of the Battle of the Billionaires in WM 23.

Aretha Franklin. Yes. Her. Her God Bless America at WM 3 and 23 were both great and the WM 3 performance was legendary considering the size of the crowd.

LT. I know won't be happening now due to the issues with the law and stuff but before all that happened he would have been perfect. Another Celebrity to Main Event Wrestlemania.

Cyndi Lauper. Her whole being in the Rock N Wrestling deal was huge to get the first Mania off the ground and get WWE into mainstream at that time.

Muhammad Ali. Again doubtful but his involvement in WM 1, like Tyson at 14 really brought mainstream in just on his name. Could easily have his daughter come in and accept for him

Hall of Fame Inductee Presenters (WWE.com):

Shawn Michaels -- Triple H
Abdullah The Butcher -- Terry Funk (can never have enough Terry Funk)
Sunny -- Bret "The Hitman" Hart
Road Warriors -- Heidenreich
Jim Duggan -- Booker T.
Bob Armstrong -- Road Dogg & The Armstrong Sons
Drew Carrey -- Kane
