Anybody Thrilla 01-12-2011 01:27 PM

So who's going to win the Royal Rumble?

Alberto Del Rio? John Morrison? Those are my two favorites, I think. I also think Punk will have something to do with Cena being eliminated.

Fignuts 01-12-2011 01:45 PM

Dolph Ziggler maybe.

Supreme Olajuwon 01-12-2011 01:47 PM

Ziggie's in the title match. No Rumble for him.

Anybody Thrilla 01-12-2011 01:50 PM

Ziggler would have been a decent pick otherwise, I think.

I'd really like to see somebody like Cody Rhodes win it. Del Rio would be just fine, though.

Ermaximus 01-12-2011 01:51 PM

If a Raw guy wins, it's Morrison. If a SD guy wins, it's Del Rio. Dark horse pick has to be Sheamus.

Anybody Thrilla 01-12-2011 01:53 PM

I still think Sheamus will be working with Triple H at Wrestlemania, and I doubt it'll be a title program unless Triple H returns and wins an Elimination Chamber or something stupid.

Ultra Mantis 01-12-2011 01:54 PM

CM Punk seems to fit the bill.

Supreme Olajuwon 01-12-2011 01:54 PM

I'm not counting out Big Show winning it. This is the most over he's ever been and I dunno if Del Rio and Morrison are quite there yet.

I see him and Cena screwing each other over to continue their feud to Wrestlemania.

Anybody Thrilla 01-12-2011 02:00 PM

What if there was some shocking winner like Chris Masters or somebody, but instead of going for a major title, he used his shot for the Intercontinental title? How angry would you be on a scale of one to ten?

Supreme Olajuwon 01-12-2011 02:02 PM

I dunno. I like the Royal Rumble more than WrestleMania so to increase my enjoyment of the Rumble by doing something shocking while decreasing my enjoyment of WrestleMania, I guess I would be fine with it.

Supreme Olajuwon 01-12-2011 02:03 PM

Oh I'm sorry you asked for a number.

Four.

Probably around a 7. This is technically possible.

Anybody Thrilla 01-12-2011 02:05 PM

It might not even ruin Wrestlemania. You'd still have your other title matches, but people would have to earn them some other way. It would just put an Intercontinental title match on the card.

Why am I still talking about this?

Anybody Thrilla 01-12-2011 02:06 PM

Hornswoggle wins and goes for the Cruiserweight championship.

Razzamajazz 01-12-2011 02:06 PM

randy orton to continue his feud with the miz

Supreme Olajuwon 01-12-2011 02:07 PM

Is Cena even going to be in the Rumble? If not then Punk seems a lot more likely.

Anybody Thrilla 01-12-2011 02:07 PM

Orton's not in the Rumble match if he's got the title shot at the Rumble, is he?

Razzamajazz 01-12-2011 02:08 PM

they've had guys be in a match and then the rumble in the past, but after i typed that i realized that wouldn't be likely

I feel like I remember him saying something about wanting the win the Rumble on Raw like three weeks ago. Maybe Punk can screw him out of a qualifying match and go on to win it himself.

In a TITLE match, though? Everybody in that Rumble is competing for the same thing that the contenders in the title match already have that very night. The only difference is what show it would happen on.

Supreme Olajuwon 01-12-2011 02:10 PM

I mean with Cena's leg injury.

Anybody Thrilla 01-12-2011 02:11 PM

Maybe that have done that before, I'm not really sure, but it seems silly to me.

I didn't know he was injured. He's wrestling Punk on Raw next week.

Supreme Olajuwon 01-12-2011 02:12 PM

I don't remember anyone pulling double duty after a world title match. IC title match guys have been in the Rumble but that doesn't count.

THANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNX

Theo Dious 01-12-2011 02:20 PM

The ones that won't surprise me are Barrett, Punk, and Morrison.

VSG 01-12-2011 02:20 PM

The closest was Chavo after defending his ECW heavyweight title. It still doesn't count.

Theo Dious 01-12-2011 02:23 PM

And for everybody's information, Kurt Angle lost a triple threat WWE title match in 2005, then entered the Rumble after stealing Nunzio's number.

Evil Vito 01-12-2011 02:23 PM

I honestly can't see it being anyone other than Cena or Punk, and whichever of those doesn't win the Rumble will win the title at Elimination Chamber, and the Rumble winner will then announce that they are facing their nemesis at Mania.

I definitely think Cena/Punk will last until Mania, but unless he's fighting the Undertaker I don't think Cena is ever going to not be in a Mania title match.

Couple that with the fact that I think Lawler is gonna get his Mania match this year and the only logical guy for him to fight is The Miz, so they'll have to get the belt off of him in February.

bigslimjj 01-12-2011 02:29 PM

Barrett.

Clever, but there's no reason to think something like that will happen twice...is there? Anything can happen in the WWE!

Supreme Olajuwon 01-12-2011 02:37 PM

Actually seems likely that Vickie would put Ziggler in the Rumble after he loses his match.

I'd actually be suprised if this DOESN'T happen at the Rumble to be honest. It really does seem like something WWE would do.

JoMo
Big Show
Who know?

Favre4Ever 01-12-2011 03:10 PM

If they somehow managed to keep a Batista return secret and he won it, I think it would be pretty sick. Otherwise I'm going with Wade Barrett, I feel like it's the only real way for that character to recover from the shitting on he's received recently.

ThePhantom 01-12-2011 03:32 PM

To pick a winner for the Rumble, you must exclude the people you believe who will be feuding at Wrestlemania. I strongly believe Sheamus will face HHH, CM Punk will face Cena, Barrett will face Undertaker. Now If they have a Money In The Bank match, Morrison will be a MUST.

The only person I can see winning it, and is not on the list above, is Alberto Del Rio. So he is my pick.

Favre4Ever 01-12-2011 03:39 PM

The only thing is, you can't ensure Miz goes into Wrestlemania as champion. Any one of the three feuds you mentioned could potentially be a title fight. Remember, that shitfest known as the Elimination Chamber happens in 2 months.

Aguakate 01-12-2011 04:32 PM

If Alberto Del Rio doesn't win the Rumble, he will win the Money in the Bank at WM27. The guy is going places.

Never count out a Triple H victory, either.

Or Sheamus.

The Fugitive 01-12-2011 04:33 PM

Anything's possible, but considering how poorly the guy's been handled, I don't think so. To go from Mr. Money in the Bank to World Heavyweight Champion and then upon losing the title to Rey Mysterio two or three months later, he's since floundered in the midcard, failing to capture the International title and the last memorable thing he was a part of involved a mascot.

I pose this question since I don't have access to either RAW or Smackdown except via YouTube, hence I don't know if the announcing team remind the audience: Does anyone actually remember he was at one time, a world champion or do you have moments where you read or hear something and go 'Oh shit, that's right, Swagger's a former world champion. I forgot about that', because that's something I found myself doing a few months ago as I had completely forgotten. To me, that's the sign of a poorly-booked title reign and a sign of how poorly he's been used since.

If they're going to give him another shot and say 'Hey, you should care about this guy', the Rumble might be his best bet.

SlickyTrickyDamon 01-12-2011 04:33 PM

I think Chavo will have two chances to win the Royal Rumble this year. I have a feeling he will be entered as himself and as the Swagger Soaring Eagle.

CSL 01-12-2011 04:42 PM

Cena, Punk, Triple H at a stretch and Miz if he drops the belt and the match is before the Rumble itself are the only possibilities I see.

Miz dropping the title to Orton prior to the Rumble match and then Miz taking out someone like Yoshi Tatsu or Chavo and winning the Rumble would be pretty awesome.

The Fugitive 01-12-2011 04:59 PM

Out of the blue thought: Evan Bourne's rehab from his shoulder surgery should be up soon. Chances he'll reappear in the Rumble?

JimmyMess 01-12-2011 05:13 PM

I see Cena eliminating Punk and Punk pulling an Austin and screwing Cena

bigslimjj 01-12-2011 05:52 PM

I see Big Show as a strong possibility to win. He's never won it, he's waaaay over right now,and he's 7 foot tall. It just doesn't make sense to have essentially a giant battle royal for so many years, and never have either Andre the Giant or Big Show win it.

Dorkchop 01-12-2011 05:56 PM

I really hope it's Del Rio. WWE is finally pushing a guy to the moon who deserves it. The guy can talk and wrestle. Everything about him, so far, has been excellent. He's such a great heel. Unlike JBL's car entrance, it actually works for Del Rio. It's so god damn irritating

jskinnyg 01-12-2011 06:29 PM

Del Rio & Morrison are the obvious choices... Watch for a Lesnar surprise... I know it sounds FAR fetched... But something is going on in that camp... and HHH better be back for the RR...

jskinnyg 01-12-2011 06:39 PM

Plus it would be great to see Jericho back, but I don't think he is done with his other shit yet... Dammit...

Wishbone 01-12-2011 07:41 PM

Del Rio is the obvious pick, but I wouldn't count out Morrison either. HHH is a possibility, but to be honest I don't really see it happening. My personal pick (and yes this is wishful thinking) is for a Jericho return, and win.

XCaliber 01-12-2011 07:42 PM

As much as I hate to say it Cena will win the Rumble match this year and the last person to be eliminated will probably be Del Rio.

VSG 01-12-2011 08:16 PM

I want a newbie in the title scene to win the royal rumble, not a previous champion. This, however, doesn't apply to Swagger because he is the shit!

CSL 01-12-2011 08:29 PM

Not understanding people claiming Del Rio to be the obvious pick. Is this just because he's been given a bit of mic time to talk about it? He'll likely last a long time in the match itself ala Rick Martel but he's not winning it.

VSG 01-12-2011 08:30 PM

For those who watch NXT, they are slowly hinting at a turn by Ricardo against Del Rio/Conor O'Brian. He might cost Del Rio the Rumble win.

MoFo 01-12-2011 08:33 PM

Going for Morrison.

Got a feeling Kane will be in the last two also.

Triple Naitch 01-12-2011 08:51 PM

Like Big Vito said, either CM Punk wins and Cena wins Elimination Chamber or Cena wins and Punk wins Elimination Chamber.

i said it months ago and im sticking with it..Alberto Del Rio. that guy and the heavyweight title seem like they go together like beer and poor decisions..if he doesnt win it will prob be someone dumb like cena

The Gold Standard 01-12-2011 10:26 PM

No doubt Del Rio wins.

The Gold Standard 01-12-2011 10:26 PM

Especially after he was the one to get SCM by HBK

dablackguy 01-12-2011 11:21 PM

I don't necessarily think Del Rio is the obvious pick - if they're serious about pushing Morrison, he should win it. If not, Punk or Barrett.

Also, where's James Steele to post a HHH pic and tell us he's going to be a surprise entrant and win it - I see that as being a viable outcome too.

Mr. Nerfect 01-13-2011 05:02 AM

SmackDown!'s main event scene could use the boost, so giving it to Alberto Del Rio or Wade Barrett may not be the stretches they were a couple of months ago. But I still wouldn't rule out Randy Orton losing the WWE Title Match by some sort of screwjob, and then winning the Rumble.

Nervous Ferret 01-13-2011 05:16 AM

I don't know who is going to win the Royal Rumble, but it damn sure better be The Undertaker.

St. Jimmy 01-13-2011 05:20 AM

Triple H, Jericho, Punk, or Wade

You know, I kinda wana go witha semi shocker like Ezekiel Jackson. He was geting a push on RAW, but hasnt really done anything yet on Smackdown. My major pick though is the Big Show. Biggest dog in the fight, I really think he deserves another title run

Side note, has anyone ever entered the Rumble under two diffrent gimmicks? The only person I can think in the WWE that used diffrent gimmmicks at one time would be Steve Lombardi

Nightwing 01-13-2011 12:58 PM

They need to make a star this year ala Yoko in 93 and have a non main eventer go all the way. This is the perfect time to do it.

Foley?

Dude/Cactus/ Mankind

bigslimjj 01-13-2011 01:04 PM

If HBK does another match, wouldn't Alberto be the prime person to face him at WM? That's why I changed my mind about him winning.

And what was Yokozuna? Chopped liver?

Normally, a huge guy in a battle royal will have a target on his back, and people will team up to eliminate him. Makes sense, really.
