Sting signs with WWE?

http://www.411mania.com/wrestling/ne...ngs-Status.htm
- TNA sources have indicated that Sting did not sign a new contract for 2011, and many in the company have discussed that he may be heading to WWE. This morning, the New York Daily news reported that Sting had signed a one-year deal with WWE.

Wolfpack423 02-01-2011 04:04 PM

Don't get your hopes up. I want Sting to sign with WWE, but the arena advertising RAW says witness the return of The Undertaker. The video is someone walking in the rain with a trenchcoat and Taker wears one to the ring. It's such a letdown if it is Taker to me. We know he's returning.

TheAdamEvansFan 02-01-2011 04:09 PM

Wolfpack, I think they did that on purpose to throw the internet community off.

Undertaker shouldn't need a video package.

TheAdamEvansFan 02-01-2011 04:09 PM

BTW THIS POST SHOULD GO ON MY STING THREAD...

glanville6 02-01-2011 04:16 PM

Hmmm, my friend wasn't lying about reading this.

Wishbone 02-01-2011 04:29 PM

Meh Sting is kinda 'been there done that' to me so I could really care less if he signs or not. I do however agree that if it's Undertaker it'll be a HUGE let down.

Purgatory 02-01-2011 04:40 PM

I seriously hope that vignet wasn't for the Undertaker...Why put that kind of effort into a hype that the fans expect? I know it's the WWE and they do this bologna all the time, but still........

Rammsteinmad 02-01-2011 05:00 PM

Sting is a true legend in this industry and one of my childhood favourites, but come on I don't understand why people still want to see him in WWE. This is ten years too late. (though if it does happen, I'll still go along with the ride and enjoy it).

Dream matches i guess, yeah its a little late but still some great matches there.

Rammsteinmad 02-01-2011 05:10 PM

To be honest the only dream match I would like to see is Sting and Shawn Michaels. Sting and 'Taker doesn't really interest me.

Sixx 02-01-2011 05:13 PM

I stopped caring about him years ago.

whiteyford 02-01-2011 05:15 PM

The buildup to a Sting -'Taker match would be better than the match itself, but Sting vs HHH, Punk,Del Rio etc would worth it.

Mooияakeя™ 02-01-2011 05:33 PM

I thought he'd never work with Vince. Seriously thought he'd be the one we'd all talk about saying "The one stand out main eventer who didn't go to the big time WWF/E". Maybe he's realised he needs a bit of cash to line his pockets for retirement if this is true?

Mr. Pierre 02-01-2011 05:34 PM

Taker vs. Sting would be so awesome. The build would more than likely be done right, the video packages would be amazing, and the entrances would be ridiculously cool. Seeing them in the ring would be a dream match.

The match wouldn't be your typical mat-classic, but if they gave us 10-12 minutes of signature moves, finishers, near falls, moments, etc..I think it'd be sick :y:

JimmyMess 02-01-2011 06:00 PM

With all the news updates on the sites, and the increase in discussion. This is getting pretty spooky. I was utterly convinced a few hours ago that this was all 'Taker... but now I'm kind of starting to think its possible that Stinger is WWE-bound

DLVH84 02-01-2011 06:10 PM

Well, in the past Sting said he refused to go there because of their content. Now that WWE toned down, maybe now's the right time for Sting to make the move.

Jordan 02-01-2011 06:11 PM

I AM IN A WRESTLE-WONDERLAND RIGHT NOW!!!

I honestly doubt it's for the paycheck. I believe he wants to go there before he finally retires.

bigslimjj 02-01-2011 06:21 PM

I hope he doesn't ever go. I don't want to see Sting Job to the Taker at WM. I'm thinking it's the deadman. Remeber the creepy little Freddy Kruger girls promo before he returned as The American Badass? Same thing here. Plus Taker was buried. Any time he's buried they make a big hoopla out of the return. It's gonna be cowboy Taker starring in "Undead Nightmare".

That was a small factor, but it was mainly this:

<iframe title="YouTube video player" class="youtube-player" type="text/html" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ktxW0vidElE" frameborder="0" allowFullScreen></iframe>

Loose Cannon 02-01-2011 06:31 PM

does anyone have the rest of that interview or can somebody tell me where that interview is from?

#BROKEN Hasney 02-01-2011 06:37 PM

Yeah, seems interesting. Don't think I've ever heard Sting speak out of character before. His reasoning is fair enough and seemed like an alright guy there.

Fignuts 02-01-2011 06:39 PM

I would guess it is from the Moment of Truth DVD.

Nightwing 02-01-2011 06:41 PM

Ive been reading all sorts of crap that hes either signed, rumored to sign, or its WWEs top priority to sign him in 2011.

Im just gonna sit back and play the 'we'll see' game now.

Anybody Thrilla 02-01-2011 06:41 PM

I doubt WCW is a factor for Sting now, so I could see this happening.

I watched that video a long time ago, and I agree with that notion, too. That was why he opted to sit out his contract with AOL/Time Warner.

Actually pretty sure that's from his appearance on 700 Club.

Cuse8 02-01-2011 06:52 PM

it makes a lot of sense for sting to be wwe bound..his match with taker can be built up as a dream match..the following year he can enter the wwe hall of fame, and they can also make a sting dvd that has been talked about for yrs..its all positives that can come out of this

The Gold Standard 02-01-2011 06:57 PM

When I first saw the promo I was sure it was Sting. However, I am not 100% convinced. Maybe it is just because I never thought I would see the day Sting would be in the WWE.

CSL 02-01-2011 07:06 PM

Ron Hutchinson just mentioned it on Facebook and he has quite a few friends in high places, take that for what you will.

Steveviscious89 02-01-2011 07:45 PM

I could see Sting back then not wanting to go through it for that very reason; didn't trust how he would be used and it would damage his career in the long run. However, the WCW invasion ended almost ten years ago, so that slate has been cleaned. Now he basically would come in as wrestling legend in a kind of big time send off. The only part of this that does not add up is the fact that he's always made it clear that his best matches were with Flair, and he cannot face Flair if he makes this move. There would be a series of dream matches I'm sure, but no Flair.

Xero 02-01-2011 08:03 PM

Fox News reporting this would be hilarious.

BollywoodSingh 02-01-2011 08:37 PM

Ya, it would be a huge disappointment if that 2 21 11 video is for Undertaker. He gets injured and returns every year it seems so why make such a big deal for it now? I'm hoping it's Sting.

The only problem I have with Sting vs. Taker at WrestleMania is that Sting would be the heel.

CSL 02-01-2011 08:39 PM

Not necessarily, HBK wasn't.

yep and get in the hall of fame and have controll of the sting dvd, this is the best time for sting to go in the wwe vince can't job him out like he did to ddp.

loopydate 02-01-2011 10:13 PM

Lol yeah because he'd let Sting go over Taker, HHH, or Cena

Jordan 02-01-2011 10:29 PM

The report says its for a year, I bet Sting faces Undertaker at WM 28 after being reintroduced to the WWE Universe for a year. Seems like a smart way to go. Perhaps he debuts at WM 27. I would just fucking die.

TheAdamEvansFan 02-01-2011 10:39 PM

I think he would.

Imagine the merchandise sales for such an epic match...

I think it'd be one of stings last, except for mysterious showings in the rafters, etc...

. I think it'd be a great push for young people to get behind his character as he goes out in style, at the grandest stage of them all.

Sixx 02-01-2011 10:41 PM

He should come back as the surfer Sting.

http://www.obsessedwithwrestling.com...s/sting/43.jpg

CSL 02-01-2011 10:44 PM

I'm not sure the entire universe, let alone the WWE version could withstand the power of Kevin Nash and surfer Sting appearing on WWE broadcasts in a lifetime, let alone within a month or so of each other.

Loose Cannon 02-01-2011 10:47 PM

Fignuts, definately not from the Moment of Truth DVD. I tried watching that last night and my god, seemed like the worst "movie" ever. shut it off like 8 minutes in. horrible

CSL 02-01-2011 10:55 PM

Come on, it's absolutely hilarious, especially the bits during his early career. And it's probably from his TNA bio/career DVD. Or the religious gimmick that Xero said.

Hanso Amore 02-01-2011 11:16 PM

If on that day, it comes to be that it looks like taker, and then when the lights come on it isSting in the ring. They just made millions. It would be on par with Rock vs Hogan in terms of Face vs face.

Sting says hes here to face the best. Taker.

Match is made. Everyone wins. My Dick gets hard...

Seth82 02-01-2011 11:23 PM

I really want it to be Sting

I might actually watch WWE on a regular basis if that happens

I also wanna see Sting versus 'Taker at Wrestlemania

Yea these statements pretty much sum it up for me too.

TheAdamEvansFan 02-02-2011 12:29 AM

Yeah that makes sense.

Barrett will probably face Undertaker at this Wrestlemania.

MoFo 02-02-2011 11:39 AM

I am pissing my pants in anticipation, bros.

Need a Wolfpac reunion in WWE. I liek red Sting the best.

MikeyMike 02-02-2011 01:08 PM

A friend of mine on Facebook posted a report from examiner.com (never been to the site myself) about Sting apparently officially signing with the WWE.
I get the feeling that this report is false but still.

Attitude99 02-02-2011 02:10 PM

Ohh Finally It's Come Down, Sting is at last at the wwe and match we all have been waitin is gonna happen sooner or later

The Naitch 02-02-2011 02:22 PM

-WrestleMania is in Atlanta

-Seems more like they're teasing it to be a (2-11-11) Taker return, only to surprise us that it's Sting

-2-21-11 is not an Awesome Kong debut

-New York Daily reports that Sting signed with WWE

-WWE is PG now. Sting is probably cool with the direction WWE is going right now

-The WCW InVasion (YUP, CHECK OUT THE CAPITAL V) was 10 years ago. Time has passed

-Without Sting right now, WrestleMania doesn't seem to have that big time match to it. Brock Lesnar isn't coming back to WWE. They still need that big match or big WrestleMania moment. The situation is perfect for Sting. Both sides win

-Anything can happen in the WWE

It has to be Sting. I pretty much guarantee it

The Naitch 02-02-2011 02:41 PM

Just to add to my previous post

Hell, they managed to get Bischoff, and have him be GM for 3 years. Why count out Sting? It would be epic. 2-21-11 has potential to be the best RAW in the history of WWE

Sixx 02-02-2011 02:42 PM

But really, as a surfer.

Would be as much of a shocker as Nash as Diesel.

The Naitch 02-02-2011 02:44 PM

yo Sixx, Nash will be at Mania as Oz

Fox 02-02-2011 03:00 PM

I'm a huge Sting fan and always have been. I'm just as pumped about his possible arrival in the WWE as the next guy, but I think a lot of you are getting your hopes up too high about a Sting versus Undertaker match at WrestleMania. I just don't think they're going to go in that direction. Who benefits? If Sting loses, he just came in and lost his first big match in the WWE, which makes him look bad. If Undertaker loses, the streak is broken by a wrestling legend who doesn't necessarily gain anything from such a victory.

I'm not saying that Vince, Sting and Taker couldn't possibly come up with something where Sting loses and doesn't look bad, but I do think we should consider the idea that it might NOT be Sting vs Undertaker at Mania. If it's not, then I'm not really sure who he could come in and face and make it feel like a "big match." A heel, "Legend Killer" Randy Orton would be a great match up, but Orton is one of RAW's biggest faces right now and I don't really see a heel turn. Sting versus Miz could be interesting, but it looks like they're going to go with Cena vs. Miz instead.

Thoughts on possibilities outside of Sting/Taker?

The Naitch 02-02-2011 03:19 PM

That's what I was thinking, Taker vs. Sting wont happen, nor does it need to happen.

Sting vs. Brooklyn Brawler would be good enough for Mania, cuz people just want to see him there regardless of who he is facing

They won't blow their load twice at Mania

The Naitch 02-02-2011 03:20 PM

I was thinking they could even do a tag match....Taker & Sting vs. Kane & Barrett. Have Taker and Sting BOTH debut on 2-21-11

Hell, Taker was even in a handicap match at Mania 19

XL 02-02-2011 03:31 PM

That handicap match was orignally a Tag Match though. From what I remember they nixed the Tag idea cause it would "look bad" as part of The Streak.

Granted that was 8 years ago and it looks like Taker might struggle with the workload of a singles match so maybe they'll be more open to the idea of doing a tag match.

TheAdamEvansFan 02-02-2011 03:46 PM

Can you IMAGINE IF TAKER KANE N STING TEAMED UP? THE 3 DARK MEN?

ahhh I see, I thought they had to make it a handicap match because Taker's partner got injured. Thanks for clarification BRO

Actually, you are right. It was supposed to be A-Train and Big Show vs. Undertaker and the horribly useless Nathan Jones, but after weeks of terrible outings in house shows and Smackdown matches, it was decided the weekend of Mania that he wasn't fit to be on the grandest stage of them all. They ran a "backstage beatdown" angle and had Taker face them 2-on-1, and Jones was released shortly thereafter.

According to a published report Monday in The Wrestling Observer - as covered by pro wrestling blog Rajah - WWE World Heavyweight Champion Edge will likely leave World Wrestling Entertainment next year when his contract expires.

The Wrestling Observer adds that four other WWE superstars may similarly bolt at the end of their contracts next next.

While John Cena, The Undertaker, Christian, and John Morrison are rumored to be the most likely to leave WWE, only Edge is widely expected to join TNA after leaving WWE.

Edge apparently wants to wind down his in-ring career with a lighter schedule - something TNA can provide. Also, Edge has repeatedly hinted at wanting to help cultivate new talent - a goal TNA could arguably better provide than WWE.
