No it seems obvious that this is headed towards michael cole interfernce again, to set something up between them at mania. Prolly a tag match. Cole and Riley vs King and ???.

I don't mind if he hold the title for 24 hours. At least they give him the title for being loyal to the company all these years (since 1992, I believe)

Nah, they won't take the title off the Miz, but they'll make it look like Lawler got screwed (again).

I'm one of the biggest Lawler marks on here, but no, he shouldn't get the title.

Someone on another board I go to suggested that the WM match might be Lawler vs Riley 1 on 1, where if Riley wins Lawler is fired, but if Lawler wins, he gets 5 minutes to beat up Cole.

Miz will win but it won't be a clean win.... Alex Riley will cause it... King will get his revenge when he challenges Riley to a match... King gets his WrestleMania dream... WWE Title stays where it should. Everyone goes home happy.

It's pretty obvious that it's leading up to Miz vs Cena match at WM so the right answer would be no.

I feel like Cena will cost Miz the title, then Miz will win it back the next night on Raw due to something done by Riley or Cole setting up the Mania bout.

I don't think they will give him the title. If this was any other time of the year I would say its possible. But not one month before the biggest wrestling ppv of the year. Lawler deserves a win. They could do something like they did with Bret Hart when he won the US title in Canada. Have him win it, then through some twist of events they have a tournament for the title. But sadly I don't think this will happen for the King.

Jerry Lawler won't win the WWE Title. I guess stranger things have happened -- they could, theoretically, have King win the belt, and then The Miz regains it the next night -- but that would be stupid. The Miz wins, and King gets his moment by just being there.

What kind of shoe? A dress shoe? A running shoe? A man or a woman's shoe? And will you be video recording this for proof that you lived up to your end of the deal.

I seriously believe this program is King's swan song. He's getting the "maybe he can pull it off..." miracle title run, only to fall just short of the belt. Cole will be an insufferable twat about it, and King will punch him in the mouth. The anonymous GM will chime in, and Cole will gleefully "quote" that King has breached the stip that those two can't touch eachother, and be fired on the spot. We get an angry/dejected King possibly getting another shot in on Cole, then leaving the arena to chants of "thank you, King" or "Jerry", then they go to commercial. After the break, we get King's replacement in the Gorilla position, and life will go on.

Lawler will only re-appear on special occasions like Slammy's, one of those RAWs where they have legends congregtate for comedic effect (and Ron comes in for a "DAMN!"), and Wrestlemania.

Why would they have his replacement backstage? Surely he'd be better off at the announce table?

AWA, USWA, and maybe a guest shot in the NWA every now and then, but Jerry hasn't wrestled for the NWA full time since his Memphis territory broke from the NWA in the 70's. Damn your old.

But no, I don't think he'll win. I would mark big time if he does though. I could also see him being screwed by A-RY and getting a shot at either him OR as part of a 3 - way vs Miz and Cena (whos gunna win the chamber match) at Wrestlemania. He will be on the card this year though.

i agree with most of you guys, i wouldnt mind king winning the title then dropping it the next night to miz by way of a-ril or cole getting involved hay if bret hart can win the us title away from miz why cant king win the title only to lose it the next night it would just make miz look stronger as a heel by losing in a fluke way only to invoke his rematch clause then cheat to win it bac

If he lost it to King by some fluke (or Cena interference) I think Miz would have to have a strong showing to win it back (aka kick the shit out of King).

Whatever shoe I have at my disposal, and of course I'd record it. My word's good, and besides, there's no way in hell that Lawler's winning the title, so there's no real concern about shoe-eating.

How about if Lawler wins the belt by Cena interference (Miz gets injured so badly he isn't at Raw the next night.) Lawler drops the belt to Cena in the absence of The Miz then Miz comes back to claim his title rematch to find that it is against Cena which sets up a program leading into Mania.

Cena goes over with the 'marks' for giving Miz his commupence and Miz spends the build to Mania complaining about how he got screwed and is still awesome and will prove it all at Mania.

Obviously in this scenario Cena would have to win the EC match and choose to take his title shot early leaving the number one contender slot open for The Miz.

Bingo. If they do give Lawler a "Thank you" title run, it will be a novelty thing, not to build any sort of credibility with The King, but rather the heat between The Miz and John Cena. It's two easy steps:

1. John Cena costs The Miz the WWE Title against the fan favourite no one gives any real chance of winning.

2. The Miz kicks the crap out of that guy the next night and wins it back.

Although, what Brigstocke suggested could work. There's no real reason that it wouldn't -- the only real one being that you'd probably then have two face champions defending their titles at WrestleMania. It might be more productive to have at least one of them lead to a face capturing the title.

Another idea is that The Miz could be cost the WWE Title by Cena, but then someone else wins the WWE Title from Lawler. Maybe CM Punk? For some reason, I don't feel a title match between Cena and The Miz as compelling as the two legitimately wanting to kill each other after costing each other everything.

There is no way that Miz vs. Jerry Lawler is closing the show over two Chambers, and the WWE doesn't let SmackDown! main event anymore. It'll be the RAW Chamber closing things. If Cena costs The Miz earlier in the night, then The Miz and Alex Riley could do something shady to cost Cena later.

That way you can also slip Jerry Lawler into the WrestleMania card in a big way -- teaming with John Cena against The Miz & Alex Riley.

I don't think King will win the title at Elminiation Chamber. Miz will retain unfortunately, but, I think at Wrestlemania instead of Cena vs. Miz which they are making way too obvious it should be a fatal four way match with John Cena vs. John Morrison vs. The Miz vs. Jerry The King Lawler. Cena-Miz is alright but I feel that if you're going to give King a match at mania it should be in the title match and not vs. A-Ri which would be an awful match, but also including Morrison as he deserves a main event push and it would make sense to put him in the match, rather than putting him in MITB.

On a sidenote, in the World Title picture, I'm really hoping that somehow Christian either wins MITB or is in the title match with Edge and Del Rio. Of course World Champion vs. IC Champion which is what it looks like will happen is pretty much set in my opinion. Adding Christian makes the match better and sells more tickets. Miz and Del Rio can't do it by themselves. Ziggler or McIntyre should win MITB if Morrison and Christian aren't in it.

I think there's going to be a lot of people leaving and no new talent really coming through, so in 2018, Lawler will win the title at Wrestlemania, beating Indifferent Clox in the main event.

THAT would be about as memorable as Ric Flair and his all but 10 minutes he spent in the MITB match at Mania with his one high spot and that was about it

keeps making sense though that the commentators drop subtle hints and quoting that "Lawler has never had a Wrestlemania match" that they are leaning towards giving him one and someone mentioned earlier Alex Riley and Cole vs Lawler and a partner, I could see King teaming up with either the likes of Mark Henry or R Truth since I don't see them doing anything else for Mania.

I think danielson will win mitb and king will win the title and daniel bryan will cash it in on king giving michael cole more reason to say he isn't a true champion. Even though he's beaten miz multiple times and dolph ziggler who maybe should be champion.

I just don't like what's planned for the traditional matches. Also, Del Rio will probably face Kingston at EC and most likely is squashing him to win the IC title.

Unlike Hogan and Flair, Lawler can still put on a better match than those two.

YES. I was thinking of Eddie, but I wasn't thinking if Rey. I was actually thinking of the night after Rey won, where Chavo went for the IC belt and never won it. So its anyone's guess.

I personally don't want to see Lawler win the belt. However, if that's what they're planning to do, after the length of his career is sucks horribly that his Mom died just days before. Pretty sure he'd love for her to see it.

Yeah I can imagine seeing him at mania would have been a proud moment for Mrs Lawler. I hope they don't say Miz went to visit and scared her to death shouting Im Awesome at her.

Maybe it's a work and they plan to drag his mother's casket through the grave yard, with Lawler riding on the casket.

Who wouldn't want to hear these two as they talk about The Rock, and all the other talent returning from the Attitude Era/WCW. It'd be much better than LISTENING TO COLE markout over Miz.

Lawler would win after JR interferes and once and for all puts Cole in his rightful place... JR BACK FOR GOOD WITH THE ROCK? HERE COMES AUSTIN TO CELEBRATE!!! ADVERTISING TOUGH ENOUGH IN THE PROCESS!!!

Cole ends up being Raw GM and no longer announcer...

Lawler ends up retiring on the grandest stage of them all, as a winner.

Here's what I predicted last year, on this site. And I will never find it, in all likelihood...but its very close to what I suggested last year.

I'm gonna look for it.

I actually like the idea of Danielson in a match. As a partner...how about Jerry Lawler as a partner? He's always wanted to have a match at Mania, he deserves it. How does it fit? Lawler is pretty cool with the Internet (I'm pretty sure, he has a website and he does his own stuff, I think). If Cole takes his hatred of the IWC on to Monday Nights, Lawler defends Danielson and the IWC, tells the Miz he is no mentor...brags about all the titles he has won- but the only thing he never got that he wanted was the one match on the grandest stage of them all-and a WWE title...and how Danielson will take the master to school. I know this is not going to happen...but I do think that the likes of Cryme Time and the Hart Dynasty will be lucky to be in a dark match. I'm cool with Goldust and maybe a returning Booker T? That would at least get the fans to pop.


Wrote this last year...I had Lawler and Daniel Bryan going against ShowMiz for the tag titles at Mania 26. And this year, turns out he might go against Alex Riley, closely associated with the Miz...so go me!

Lawler vs Cole as Cole has been training at FCW for the past month or so.

You dream of Lawler?

Here's how I would book it:

Miz vs King at the chamber. King has it in the bag, but Alex Riley screws him over and Miz takes the victory. Cole almost dies laughing. Next night on Raw, Cole won't get of King's case about it. Finally King slaps the taste out of his mouth and walks out. Lawler gets on the stick and says "I've had it with your Miz cheerleading. You're an abnoxious ass and I refuse to sit at that desk with you anymore. You and me at Mania. If I win, you leave Raw forever. If you win, I'll retire and never sit next to you again."

Leads to Mania match. King beats on Cole for a bit, then Miz & Riley come down. They screw Lawler and he gets pinned. They leave celebrating, with Cole gloating over the King. Until Lawler gets up, grabs Cole and piledrives him. Says goodbye to the fans and becomes a backstage road agent.

Probably won't happen like that, but it'd be nice.

Are you an ex-WWE writer voncouch? That sounds like something they would have done 2 years ago. I really believe that they will give King a winning WrestleMaina moment.

This is how I book it.
Miz vs. King at EC. Miz beats up on King for a bit, Kings starts coming back, Cole jumps up on the apron, Miz goes for the Skull Crushing Finalle, King reverses into a piledriver, pins Miz, New champion. Next night on RAW, Miz invokes his rematch clause, Miz vs. King 2 takes place, Back and forth for most of the match. When its looking like King is going to win, have Cole jump up on the apron, allowing Miz to hit the SCF, pin King, Miz is the 2 time WWE champion.

Next week on RAW Cole is not at the announce table. He comes on the Titron tron trying to justify what he did to King. King leaves the table and heads to the back insearch for Cole. Kings finds Danielson and Danielson tells Kings where Cole is. He finds Cole and chases him around the backstage area, Cole hope in a car with Riley and they take off. King jumps in a car with Danielson and they chase them off camera. Thus setting up Cole and A-Ry vs. King and Danielson at WM.

A-Ry get injured the next week on RAW, not sure how, and Danielson gets booked in the MITB match, thus making the WM match King vs. Cole.
