Shawn Michaels: Can we ever take him at his word?
"Im never going to wrestle again".
Interesting, didn't he lie in Bret Hart's eye about not knowing anything about the Montreal Screwjob? |
i don't believe any wrestler who says they'll never wrestle again these days.
ITS ALL A WORK! |
Jesus would not approve.
|
Foley said the same thing and then he came back. I didn't really care that he came back since he had an absolutely killer match against Randy Orton at Backlash 04, but then he whored himself out to TNA and did a bunch of shitty matches for them.
It's wrestling. Nobody retires unless they're dead or crippled. |
Let's see what happens with Rock at Wrestlemania.
Anyways, you gotta question the official story or you're not doing your job. |
He will wrestle again in some capacity. Maybe not today, maybe not next year, hell, maybe not within the next decade. But before Shawn Michaels is gone from this earth, he will wrestle another match.
|
Hope it's with Jericho.
|
My bet would be with Triple H.
Just think, 10 years down the line, Hunter's in the Vince McMahon spot, and WrestleMania 37 has no big matches besides Braden "Original Legend" Walker vs. Percy "Showtime" Watson for the WWE Championship. He's gotta look to his blood. He's gotta look to the Kliq. |

Is this thread really necessary? If HBK and Bret buried the hatchet, the IWC can too.
But no, I think he stays retired. He was pretty miffed at what Flair did after he got his big send off, and I think HBK is both happy and financially secure enough not to wrestle another match and tarnish his legacy. |
I'll quote you on that one day Snowden, ONE DAY.

I never got that whole emotion of Flair retiring thing. Did people actually believe that he was going to stay retired?
|
Flair obviously came out of retirement to set the world on fire with his amazing in-ring skills whilst working with Hulk Hogan to bring TNA to #1 and crush the WWE who did him so wrong.
...that, or he's just a spotlight loving maniac who can't stay away from the crowds, even shitty ones like TNA's. Honestly, he could've kept working for the WWE in a backstage or promotional capacity, and possibly an on-air role as a GM or Manager, and continued to make good money there. He just couldn't STAY retired. |

He looks horrible and is horrible in the ring.

I can't take such irrational bullshit and won't. No one should put up with that. Like someone else said "why the emotion"---jesus, some of these wrestlers need to GET OVER THEMSELVES. Shawn overreacted like a child over Ric's retirement (lack thereof), and this is coming from a non Flair fan.... |

Oh and Ric has something in common with Shawn Michaels other than being in the crossroads of their respective careers. it's called EGO. Shawn retired, yet made 9 appearances since that WM loss to Taker. They HAVE to be in the spotlight. It's Apollo Creed syndrome. BTW, is it true pineapple juice makes it taste better? |
"boo fucking hoo"
great response as always. also seems to me you're taking this waaaaaay too personally. |
He'll probably wrestle in a spot similar to Ricky Steamboat at Wrestlemania 25, where we haven't seen him for a while but he's come out of retirement to teach some young punk a lesson aka. put him over. :y:
|
I gotta get Gregory Helms' thoughts on this before I make up my mind.

And the tough guy thing sounds like you have an ax to grind about something. Since when is someone who doesn't fawn over Shawn Michaels a tough guy? Please elaborate. |

Has he even said hes coming back or something?
I must be missing the point. |

It must have been another night that he gave the sweet chin music to Alberto Del Rio then. Nothing says closure in the wrestling world like superkicking Alberto Del Rio. :nono: |
That was either the night of his HOF announcement or the week after, hardly call 1 superkick him coming out of retirement though, more like hyping up the HOF.

HBK has said he will never wrestle again, but he said those exact same words in 2002 on WWE Confidential (does anyone remember that old show?). I have the episode taped since I was a huge HBK mark back in the day and tapped anything he was on. He said on that episode that HBK was dead, and I believe he even referred to himself by his real name. Not long after that, he returned as a member of the nWo, but didn't say a word. The next week he cut his first promo, and said he wasn't back to wrestle. He implied he was just there to be a manager/leader to the nWo. Then like a month later was SummerSlam 2002 where he wrestled his first match back. It was supposed to be a one time thing, and we see how well that turned out. But besides that, when the hell does being retired from the ring mean that they are 100% gone from the WWE. JBL was retired from the ring and was a Smackdown commentator for quite some time. Being "retired" just means no more in-ring wrestling or "active performing." Anything else is perfectly fine. HBK could be the GM, an announcer, a commentator, a special referee, or just walk out and superkick someone from time to time and still be considered retired. Let's not forget, Stone Cold has been retired as a wrestler since, what? 2002? But has made various appearances over the years, often stunning someone, and was co-GM with Eric Bischoff for awhile. The Rock is a retired wrestler, but is set to Host Mania. And during HBK's first retirement, he made several appearances, and had a run as the WWE Commissioner. Hell, even Ric Flair made at least one appearance AFTER his retirement match with HBK and his farewell the following night. He came back and got into an altercation with Y2J. They beat each other up, Y2J got the better of him, took the watch that he was given the night of his big sendoff, and smashed it (storyline). He challenged Flair to a match, but Flair refused, stating in his promo that it would "be disrespectful" to the match he had with Shawn Michaels, and that he would stay true to his word and stay retired. So he was in the corner of Y2J's opponent instead, I believe. Can we trust HBK's word that he will stay retired? (Which means not WRESTLING, and does NOT mean that he won't make appearances in a non-wrestling capacity) I don't know, and honestly despite being a huge HBK fan, I don't really care. Yes he came back once, but he was younger then. It was almost 10 years ago. Age makes a lot of difference in something like this. Just give it a rest and let the man do what he feels is right. Of course he has lied in the past. Haven't all of you? It doesn't mean he is incapable of ever being honest. And it sure as hell doesn't mean that he won't stay to his word now. |
I believe Shawn will keep his word about retiring from the ring.
|
Who was that fucking dink who mentioned "tough guy" just because I didn't placate him. The nerve...
|
shawn will wrestle again. he cant help it. IT will start off as a one time thing and then he will be on raw week after week. Its not a bad thing but i think we need an HBK heel - this good boy who loves jesus shit has run its course.

It could be pretty interesting, actually. But I agree that the religious thing has run its course. I miss the 95-96 Face HBK and the 97/98 (or, hell, even the early 90s) heel HBK. The version that prays before every match and wears crosses everywhere just doesn't do anything for me. |
Shawn will stay retired from active wrestling, I would love to see him comeback in a GM role or announcer though...

ok first thing, if ric fucking flair wants to wrestle, he can, second shawn dosnt care if he wrestles

lol

Ric Flair will keep wrestling even when he starts shitting himself and falling asleep in the ring. I hope Shawn stays out, because I like him and don't want him to make an ass of himself.

"Of course he has lied in the past. Haven't all of you? It doesn't mean he is incapable of ever being honest." That's funny given that people seem to believe it as if he was the ONLY one ever caught lying:roll: To the person and others who say stuff like his religous sh*t has run it's course, well I hope it's just a stchick, cuz if he's geniune (which I kinda believe) that's the type of statements that gives the religious sect its rightful credence against folks who would rather see someone act a fool then to be just a normal decent being just cuz you'd like to see some entertainment.(nevermind you would turn right around and jump on him for doing so just like when he did so in 05, smh at folks who don't know what exactly they want from this guy, even after all these years) |

I doubt HBK would strap on the boots to face Ryback.

FLair needed to comeback because he is an idiot and can't keep himslef from spending money and will probably be one of those guys that after making millions and millions of dollars will die alone in a state run nursing home.
With Micheals i am going to go out on an limb and say he is serious but that deosn't mean he can't do run ins or do some segment where he hunts some heel down in the middle of nowhere to some how manage to advertise his show |
That would be awesome. Imagine HBK stalking the Wyatts in the wilderness.
