So Sting is the new TNA World Champion.... wow just wow. Yes Sting was the surprise and they also aired a promo for 3-3-11... yeah I know. This title is losing a lot of prestige due to the fact it has changed hands 3 times in the last month. Not that it had much to begin with. So let talk about why TNA continues to kick themselves in the ass and why is Sting champ right now? Also, why do they keep repeating everything they do?

Look I like sting, and I can understand that they needed to get the belt off of hardy but why sting? Why not a younger guy. TNA used to be all about the young guys, The X-Division was amazing... now its all but gone.

Or just let Anderson Hold on to it and let sting win it off of Anderson, they are just throwing the belt around like its worthless, and that is what sting is wearing around his waste, a worthless belt. I can't wait for Sting to defend the TNA championship against The Undertaker at WrestleMania. Obviously 3.3.11 is when he'll debut on Raw.

It's a smart move by TNA. Ever since WWE started those 2-21-11 promos, people have been talking about Sting left and right. Then just days after all of these ridiculous "Sting is coming to WWE" claims are finally proven to be false, TNA gives the title to Sting. Very smart move to have the champion be someone that everyone happened to be talking about all month.



But TNA still sucks.

I honestly don't know if I want to continue posting here after reading this thread. So what if Sting stayed in TNA. He never said he was going to WWE. Like it was said, he's the hottest name in wrestling right now and showed loyalty to TNA and their fans by staying. Puting the belt on him is a great move. Kinda sick of everyone being too cool for everything lately. Just fucking enjoy what's happening for what it is, because obviously nothing is going go ever meet your expectations anymore.

It's not like Sting picked TNA over WWE. He was never going to WWE. The Sting-to-WWE thing started when millions of fans grossly misunderstood the Undertaker return promos and hyped it up to mean something that wasn't there.

TNA did the smart thing and capitalized on a mass delusion and now they have the most talked-about world champion in wrestling without having to sign another WWE reject.

I know, but it's been worse recently. Examples:

Wish The Rock would come back/The Rock is stale and using the same material.

Cena needs to go back to his rapper gimmick/Cena's promo was shit, The Rock's last week was better, why did he even rap.

We want Sting back on TV/Sting didn't come to WWE so now we hate him, ever more because he won the TNA title. Why would they even do that?

Sting doesn't want to be a part of any kind of WCW/TNA Invasion into WWE.

I firmly believe that Stinger will end up in the WWE sometime this year, but it will be on his terms, when noone is EXPECTING it.

For the people who feel he will remain in TNA for good, just remember, if you're old, your swimming isn't too good, so you might want to get off the ship safely before it drags you under.

Taker can get away with it since he only tends to wear one color and when he does break out a different color it tends to be in line with the black.

Putting the belt on Sitng? no problem. Sting's always been over with the crowd. He'll always be seen as a top guy and can help get people over. No issues there what so ever with me.


But here's the thing that has always irked me about TNA . I feel like they try so hard to slap Vince and the WWE in the face whenever they get the opportunity. They've been doing it for years and years trying to appease the internet fans. Whether it be signing WWE "future endeavors" or mocking the WWE in skits or whatever.

And I feel like this was no different. "ha ha ha, everyone thought Sting had signed with Vince, so now we'll show everyone that he's our champion. This will give us big ratings. And we'll run a 3-3-11 promo just to spite them..."

Problem is only the internet fans played into the rumor. Sting's hype will die down within a few weeks and TNA will be trying to figure out thier next big move.

I think it's a cool moment and will be fun to watch. But this is what TNA is. They are a company that lives off of surprises and "capitalizing" off WWE misfortunes (or not). You just kind of look at them and go "Ok, Next"

ROFL, just saw the end of Impact with the promo for 3-3-11, CLEARLY supposed to be a rip off of the 2-21 promo. Like, there's no second thoughts about that.

While there's no problem with TNA putting the title on Sting and even pushing him, I completely agree with LC. This is a "LOL HEY VINCE LOOK WHAT WE GOT!!!!!111!1!!" moment. When WWE wasn't even going in that direction! THAT'S why TNA is pathetic. Again they unintentionally push WWE. I'm sure they think it was so clever to do that promo, when in reality it's stupid as fucking hell.

They're also, again, as LC said, marketing to the internet crowd, which isn't who they should be marketing for because THEY ALREADY HAVE THEM! And if they don't, if they're someone like me, I'll tune in when I hear they do something good. When I hear and see this all I think is "why are you doing this?"

They need to A. Market to the casual and potential fans who don't follow the internet and B. Stop living in the shadow of WWE so blatantly.

Usually, when trying to push a product, you do everything different than your competition, and furthermore, you try to distance yourself from them as much as you can, therefore, you do NOTHING that will remind the customers of the competition...

WWE might actually have grounds to sue over that, honestly. It's definitely not under "parody". It's blatant rip-off, and they never showed who it was. Could say they're misleading fans into thinking it's The Undertaker.

I don't think WWE will do anything, because all it'll do is bring attention to TNA, but I think they have the grounds.

I think that if TNA went live and were able to actually surprise its audience, it may make a bigger impact. I mean what the hell is the point in teasing a 3/3/11 return when we already know who it is....

Speaking of which, I didn't know that when Hall and Nash went to WCW, and talked about them not being alone, WWF sued WCW.

I've never heard that WWE ever reached out to Sting this year. I know they were aware of the rumors, but I haven't heard anything that said he was ever in contact. There could be evidence out there, I won't deny that, but I haven't heard it.

And why would Vince do something TNA did? If he was in TNA's position (distant number two) of course he would, and it would be pathetic. But I honestly don't think WWE would actively go out of their way to copy a TNA promo so blatantly. And if they did? Honestly, I don't know how I'd feel about it. Probably would laugh it off. But again, I could NEVER, as the distant number 1 promotion, see WWE do something as blatant as this.

I give TNA credit where it's due, and this promo is NOT one of those times. Will it ruin TNA? No. But to me it makes them come off as second rate, and that's not a good thing.

They should have left things as is and just had Sting appear on the broadcast with no build. It would have had more impact.
