Fignuts 03-12-2011 04:59 AM

You should not be legally allowed to own a blu ray player without Planet Earth.

whiteyford 03-12-2011 05:48 AM

I own a few hundred and im too lazy to type them up.

VSG 03-12-2011 10:05 AM

Get Life as well while you are at it.

Eklipse 03-12-2011 12:28 PM

What exactly is it? Is it like a documentary or something?

whiteyford 03-12-2011 12:30 PM

Which ones better Life or Planet Earth?

VSG 03-12-2011 06:42 PM

You can't compare any of David Attenborough's works with each other. I have pretty much all of them on DVD/Blu-ray and I won't hesitate to get any further series his team makes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_A...gh#Filmography

Jeritron 03-12-2011 10:03 PM

I'm not really interested in replacing or updating many movies with blu ray. I like the upgraded quality, but not enough to go out and care enough to rebuild what's already a pretty huge collection of mine.

Especially since I feel it doesn't make a huge difference in a lot of movies.
I've put down the extra couple bucks on Dark Knight, Watchmen, Iron Man, Star Trek, Scott Pilgrim and a few others.

I bought Ghostbusters on Blu Ray cheap recently, and it looked awesome. I may do the same for Back to the Future. Mostly out of love for the movies and some respectable features/seeing them at their crispest form.

I'll get the Star Wars set. Maybe a couple others. Blade Runner has been one I've entertained.
But I'm not going to be spending the extra money on Hangover on blu ray while I still have an option.

parkmania 03-12-2011 11:01 PM

Don't have a blu-ray player, so it doesn't make sense for me to buy any blu-ray discs.

Eklipse 03-13-2011 12:38 AM

So why post in the thread? lol

Fignuts 03-13-2011 01:44 PM

The extended edition of the LOTR trilogy is dropping next holiday season. Definitely picking that up.

XL 03-13-2011 05:03 PM

I apply the same logic to blu ray as Jeritron on that I only buy stuff that I feel benefits greatly from being in HD. Or if I really like the film. I only got my player at Xmas so the list is pretty short right now.

The Dark Knight
Shutter Island
Inception
Toy Story 3
Law Abiding Citizen (doesn't meet either criteria, was a present)
Watchmen

I was considering picking up the WrestleManias that are available on Blu Ray. Ayone know if they're worth it?

VSG 03-13-2011 05:10 PM

The cost difference between regular dvd and blu ray is like $1 or so for the wrestlemania disks. Go for it.

XL 03-13-2011 06:02 PM

Looks to be £4 - £7 per event. :-\

VSG 03-13-2011 06:23 PM

I was referring to US prices on Amazon:

WM 26 on DVD

WM 26 on Blu Ray

WM 25 on DVD

WM 25 on Blu Ray

A shame if it is so different over there.

Eklipse 03-13-2011 06:39 PM

As soon as I got a blu ray player, I decided that I wouldn't buy dvd's anymore unless they're for like wrestling or something, like the documentaries and stuff. I'll probably get 'Manias and other ppv's on blu ray...but I very rarely buy dvd's anymore.

Ermaximus 03-14-2011 02:08 PM

I'll list them in a bit. Usually only buy these if it's the blu ray/dvd combo. Get them fairly cheap at Moviestop upon release. Older movies I tend to wait until Target puts them on sale for $9.99 or less.

BigDaddyCool 03-14-2011 02:23 PM

I still want to get planet earph on blu ray so I can sleep in front of it.

Yeah.

Although I'd be paying £20 - £24 extra as I wouldn't buy them on DVD at all. Might try to pick them up second hand.

Rambo/First Blood double pack... & that's it. :'(

Long story short, before moving back to Ohio, I got a free PS3. No games or movies, but why look a gift horse in the ass... or... however that metaphor is supposed to work?

I guess I'll get the other Rambo II/III double pack, for sake of completion. Can't think of anything really Blu Ray worthy that I don't already have on DVD or VHS.

Yes, I still rock the VHS. !3MTA3

El Fangel 01-21-2012 04:06 AM

How much is a blu-ray player now anyways? I have a nice flatscreen which would make it actually worth buying.

I'd like to get Prometheus, but I don't think there's an option to watch it with deleted scenes put back in, so I'll wait until someone on the internet makes a full length cut.
