Superstars cancelled

...yeah.

Guess it's time for the next wave of releases.

DLVH84 03-17-2011 09:23 PM

Release Yoshi Tatsu, so he can return home to NJPW, and beat Tanahashi for the title.

Triple Naitch 03-17-2011 09:23 PM

Maybe NXT will be back on TV now.

Savio 03-17-2011 09:24 PM

hopefully not

erickman 03-17-2011 09:29 PM

damn i kind of liked it

Emperor Smeat 03-17-2011 09:42 PM

Sort of surprised since the few episodes I watched had some good wrestling and it gave the lower and less used wrestlers some tv time but at the same time it makes sense due to the WWE barely referencing or hyping up the shows.

Most of the time I'd end up forgetting its on tv or forgot what channel it was on (Cox Cable decided to switch up the channels with wrestling a few times within a year).

Supreme Olajuwon 03-17-2011 09:47 PM

Hope they release Chris Masters and JTG so they can go to NJPW so they can win the IWGP Tag Team Championship from Giant Bernard and Karl Anderson.

Supreme Olajuwon 03-17-2011 09:50 PM

It's been over 270 days since Bad Intentions (Giant Bernard and Karl Anderson) defeated Blue Justice Army (Wataru Inoue and Yuji Nagata) and No Limit (Tetsuya Naitō and Yujiro Takahashi) for the IWGP Tag Team Championship during Dominion 6.19 in Osaka.

MoFo 03-17-2011 09:53 PM

lol at DVLH saying Tatsu will go back to Japan after the next 'wave' of releases.

Testicle 03-17-2011 10:07 PM

Is there a source for this?

As far as Yoshi going back to NJPW... Fuck that, Satoshi Kojima would job his ass out of there in 2 weeks.

Seriously DLVH84, go fuck yourself. This is TPWW. Only .0002% of us give a shit about puroresu. Join a different board you fuck.

Juan 03-17-2011 10:11 PM

Bummer

What Would Kevin Do? 03-17-2011 10:16 PM

That sucks. Really lame, since it had some great wrestling on it.

Also, like Yoshi Tatsu has any chance in hell at beating Tanahashi. Tana is a golden boy.

Supreme Olajuwon 03-17-2011 10:17 PM

They should just put superstars matches on their website. I dunno why they haven't done that yet anyway.

Supreme Olajuwon 03-17-2011 10:18 PM

Websclusive SHOWDOWN

Jeritron 03-17-2011 10:22 PM

It was never available to me anyways, since WGN isn't really carried here on the eastcoast.

I got it on DirectTv at my father's beach cottage, but not on Comcast here in Mass

dronepool 03-17-2011 10:26 PM

Never even seen an episode, don't get the channel.

He doesn't even need to do that, there are enough people here for him to be able to talk about it. But he has no desire to discuss puro or any other product as far as I can see, he's only interested in showing people his faux-intellect when it comes to all things wrestling, like he actually thinks people respect him or are in awe of his ability to use Google to find things out. It might be sadder than Heyman carrying on with his Lui Kang gimmick.

SlickyTrickyDamon 03-17-2011 10:35 PM

I had it, but didn't watch it. Seemed like it was a recap show with jobber matches for the most part.

I'm sad to see it go because now I can't insult TNA for getting ratings lower than WWE Superstars when it does.

XL 03-17-2011 10:41 PM

How dare you CSL!

DVHL84 has memorised the date of every minor event in pro wrestling history! How can you not be impressed with that?

The guy should go on MasterMind (or its US equivalent). He'd walk it. Although I fear his general knowledge may let him down. Doubt the guy can remember how to walk with all that space in his brain taken up by random dates, events and locations.

Droford 03-17-2011 10:52 PM

TNA Impact! The Only Professional Wrestling Show on Thursday Nights!

VSG 03-17-2011 11:06 PM

Yoshi is a pro on NXT, he isnt going anywhere till his rookie is eliminated.

Evil Vito 03-17-2011 11:09 PM

<font color=goldenrod>Damn :( reallllly hope it stays web-exclusive otherwise there's really nothing for most of those guys to do</font>

CSL 03-17-2011 11:13 PM

It's only been canned by the network so theoretically it could simply go to another channel or web-exclusive like you say.

Troelar 03-17-2011 11:14 PM

Does this mean that TNA beat Superstars? Or that TNA got Thursdays so associated with shitty wrestling, that it destroyed Superstars?

Not in the US.

Only international markets still have NXT on tv but it might go back on tv in the US for Season 6 to go along with Tough Enough returning on tv.

Actually, I don't Google or Wiki at all.

lol ok guy, you keep doing your thing. I hope it brings you the validation you feel you need as a person or that you're achieving whatever you think you're achieving as a sock or troll. The only thing for sure is that it's quite tragic.

Lock Jaw 03-17-2011 11:58 PM

Do you have an Eidetic Memory, DLVH84?

Evil Vito 03-18-2011 12:13 AM

<font color=goldenrod>There's definitely gonna be a handful of releases soon anyway, as always. Everybody will get their WM payday in the pre-show battle royal and then be let go by the end of April, possibly right after the draft.</font>

Xero 03-18-2011 12:17 AM

I don't see a *huge* problem with it. I expect a HUGE midcard release fest in a few weeks. On top of that, WWE is just too saturated on TV. Currently, they have 6 hours of original programming, 7 if you count AM RAW. It would have been bumped up to 8 hours when Tough Enough started.

But they've had a low card show for a long time, so I do expect it to either be picked up by another network or thrown on the website.

Droford 03-18-2011 12:19 AM

what happened to those "velocity is coming back!" rumors?

DLVH84 03-18-2011 12:22 AM

On the other hand, Superstars was, more or less, treated like ECW on TNN.

BizarroKing 03-18-2011 12:48 AM

SO by the process of elimination does this mean that TNA actually beat WWE in this case?

CSL 03-18-2011 12:52 AM

In a 'the 90 year old Granny living down the street beat John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King at life' kind of way I guess.

MoFo 03-18-2011 01:15 AM

I'll miss those rivetting JTG v Tyler Reks main events, thats for sure.

GD 03-18-2011 01:19 AM

Superstars was my favorite show after Velocity :(

Supreme Olajuwon 03-18-2011 01:19 AM

I don't understand why so many people have something against giving midcarders a chance to wrestle on tv. Is that a problem for you? Because I'm pretty sure you never watched the show.

XCaliber 03-18-2011 01:23 AM

So much for the Masterpush.

Supreme Olajuwon 03-18-2011 01:24 AM

RAWWWWWWWRRRRRR

Oh ok, well here's a show with some lower card guys wrestling.

RAWWWRRR I hate Superstars because there's no star power!!!!!!!! http://tpww.net/forums/images/icons/icon8.gifhttp://tpww.net/forums/images/icons/icon8.gifhttp://tpww.net/forums/images/icons/icon8.gifhttp://tpww.net/forums/images/icons/icon8.gifhttp://tpww.net/forums/images/icons/icon8.gifhttp://tpww.net/forums/images/icons/icon8.gif

DLVH84 03-18-2011 01:30 AM

Personally, I prefer SmackDown! over RAW, because it's wrestling-oriented.

GD 03-18-2011 02:11 AM

Thanks for yr. take :y:

BigCrippyZ 03-18-2011 02:15 AM

Personally, I prefer the show that gives sufficient time, opportunities, matches and storylines to lower, mid and upper card workers.

Tom Guycott 03-18-2011 02:29 AM

Looks like Snooki came in to aid Zack Ryder in a Jersey push just in time...

Ouch, Daniel Bryan's future just got cancelled.

Skippord 03-18-2011 04:20 AM

I enjoyed Superstars, rats.

St. Jimmy 03-18-2011 04:48 AM

Technically, doesn't your gimmick depend on his career? Like, if he dies, so do you?

I have a feeling of the 50 people who care, most post at TPWW.

Main Event Raw. He did outpop DX, after all.

Impact has gotten higher ratings than Superstars for quite some time. I don't think Superstars was any kind of a threat for them. You can still insult TNA for putting Bully Ray in a main event though. I would.....

Evil Vito 03-18-2011 11:51 AM

<font color=goldenrod>Regardless of what happens with Superstars - it seems like the vast majority of the Superstars brigade have reasons to stick around. Ryder, Hawkins, Barreta, and Smith are all good in the ring and really young. Kidd, JTG, and Yoshi have job security at least until NXT ends. Chavo and Regal also have NXT going for them and both guys seem like lifers even if they transition out of wrestling roles (Regal's already on the way to doing that).

Maybe it won't be that big of a spring cleaning this year.</font>

Last time I watched Superstars Mr. Fuji hit Crush in the back while he was on the ropes about to put Yoko away for the title.

I never recovered from that. I'm glad it's cancelled.

A big surprise but not a total shock to me that Superstars was cancelled.

WWE realizes that product image has differed since 1993. I'm not even saying that tobe funny, I really think they've had this convo and maybe axed this show as an excuse to allocate revenue into other more "relevant" shows?

CSL 03-21-2011 02:36 PM

It was cancelled by the network, not WWE. Decent chance it'll still be produced for the website/overseas TV ala NXT.

Which would make sense if they canceled it, or weren't the ones trying to get more wrestling on TV just like in the 90s.
