Londoner 04-02-2011 12:41 PM

Looking forward to it.

The Destroyer 04-02-2011 12:50 PM

The BBC trailer is excellent. I just love the music. The BBC America trailer isn't as great, but it does give you a fairly good look at the rather horrible looking aliens from the opening two parter.

Only 3 weeks to wait. :y:

The Destroyer 04-02-2011 12:54 PM

Also, some interesting stuff to spot in the BBC trailer.

Rory and Amy in the Ninth/Tenth Doctor era control room and River in the time ship from The Lodger to name but two.

Kane Knight 04-02-2011 01:06 PM

Sweet.

El Vaquero de Infierno 04-02-2011 01:27 PM

Aren't they splitting the season into two halfs, like the americans. They will show the first 7 episodes then have a break until september.

Quite annoying if they do, though it will shorten the break between season and xmas special.

Londoner 04-02-2011 01:46 PM

I heard that to a while ago but didn't hear anything confirmed. Don't see the point in it tbh.

Next Big Thing 04-02-2011 02:04 PM

Yeah. That's what they're going to do. 7 episodes in the Spring and then 6 in the fall... At least we'll have Tochwood to bridge the gap :| :nono:

Londoner 04-02-2011 02:06 PM

I don't watch Torchwood. Have given it a go but it ain't my thing.

Next Big Thing 04-02-2011 02:18 PM

Yeah. I'm not a fan either.

If that's the case I hope they do the same on the Space channel here in Canada rather than pushing it back until all the episodes have already aired elsewhere instead of only being a week or two behind that would suck big time.

The Destroyer 04-03-2011 11:39 AM

Space will be airing it a matter of hours behind the UK.

It's so they can have a ZOMG GAME CHANGING CLIFFHANGER!!!!!!

...Which had better be good.

Londoner 04-03-2011 02:26 PM

Oh in that case it would be OK. But everyone would've forgotten the cliffhanger by then.....

XL 04-03-2011 02:33 PM

Just do a previously on Dr Who LOST_style recap.

The Destroyer 04-03-2011 05:04 PM

If it's a good cliffhanger, you won't forget it.

Preferably with River saying "Spoilers...."

Next Big Thing 04-07-2011 12:38 PM

I'm not sure I like Rory tagging along. I guess he'd have to be in the picture since he and Amy are married and it seems they're going to push the Doctor and River angle a bit more, but I always hated the episodes where the male companions were along for the entire ride. Captain Jack was/is the only exception.

The monsters for the first two episodes are supposed to be the best since the Weeping Angels so if that's the case it should be some exciting stuff.

16 days left.

The Destroyer 04-07-2011 12:42 PM

Here's a spoilery hook for the first story. Which I don't quite believe is going to be totally accurate, but we'll see.

SPOILER: show
Either The Doctor, River, Amy or Rory dies.

Kane Knight 04-07-2011 12:58 PM

But is it "4 reelz?"

The Destroyer 04-07-2011 01:35 PM

Well it's come straight from Steven Moffat who claims it is. But I'm still pretty cynical about it. There'll be a cop out, somehow.

Next Big Thing 04-07-2011 02:07 PM

I've gotta assume (hope) Rory if it's legit. We've seen River die. The Doctors "died" 10 times and has regenerated or been revived in some way or another including at the end of last season... And killing off Amy... would suck because I have a thing for red headed women with Scottish accents.

I'm thinking the same.

The Doctor can't be "dying" permanently anyway, since we've seen clips of him in multiple future episodes.

Well, they could probably find an asspull for him to regenerate as Matt Smith again, like they did with Ten and the hand, but that'd be awful. Plus, I don't think Moffat's going to pull a RTD.

Maybe River dies again, aborting the earlier death. :shifty:

Next Big Thing 04-14-2011 11:08 AM

So if any of the Doctor's companions had to die a horrible death during their season that they couldn't come back from and would be completely written out forever never to return, who would you guys choose and why?

For me it would have to be Donna. Her character grew on me quite a bit, but not in a "damn that sucks she got killed off way." I'd be more sad if her Grandpa died to be honest. Martha is still my favorite of all the companions and Amy is a hot redhead. I guess I could let Rose go too. In hindsight, her storyline wasn't bad, but it wasn't as good as Martha or Donna's and she's not as hot as Amy.

Also, who of all the companions would you give a spin off to ala the Sarah Jane Chronicles?

Rose's life in the parallel universe could be interesting. Martha's too since she went rogue with Mickey Smith.

El Vaquero de Infierno 04-14-2011 11:27 AM

Only 9 days or so until some hot Amy Pond action...erm, I mean the new series of Doctor Who. Quite looking forward to it, which is unusual for me when it concerns tv programs. They have been reshowing Series 5 lately, so I will be all up to date come 23rd.

Next Big Thing 04-14-2011 11:39 AM

http://comicrelated.com/artwork/DoctorWhoKiss.jpg

The Doctor should have hit that.

Gray 04-19-2011 05:47 PM

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-13137674

Doctor Who stuff.

What a shame indeed!

The Destroyer 04-19-2011 05:49 PM

Yeah, really awful news. :(

Londoner 04-19-2011 06:06 PM

Wow, wasn't expecting that. :(

Next Big Thing 04-23-2011 10:29 AM

Tonight! I'm just gonna enjoy the Doctor Who marathon all day today.

El Vaquero de Infierno 04-23-2011 10:37 AM

T-minus 3 hours 23 minutes until the new season starts.

XL 04-23-2011 01:29 PM

HALF AN HOUR!

Getting my hair cut at the same time though. Wonder if I can get the hair dryer to be quiet? :-\

Next Big Thing 04-23-2011 01:41 PM

Damn it. I still have 8 hours to wait.

El Vaquero de Infierno 04-23-2011 03:36 PM

I would give you spoilers, but I think you should wait that little bit longer to find out what happens. :p

Next Big Thing 04-23-2011 05:00 PM

God bless you Vaquero. Just tell me this... Did it live up to the hype?

The Destroyer 04-23-2011 05:07 PM

I was so hyped for it I don't think it could ever meet my expectations.

I enjoyed it though. Didn't play out at all how I expected it to.

XCaliber 04-23-2011 11:20 PM

First episode was great not gonna spoil it but there's a huge wtf moment near the start that I didn't expect which I could see as becoming a trend for this season.

El Vaquero de Infierno 04-24-2011 07:30 AM

I think the second episode will give people the payoff they were looking for. There was definitely an uneasy feeling throughout the episode.

Next Big Thing 04-24-2011 08:51 AM

Loved the episode, especially for the fact that the Doctor had no idea what was going on so the usual feeling of everything's going to be alright wasn't there. Definitely were some WTF moments too though.

El Vaquero de Infierno 04-30-2011 04:55 PM

WTF (for the end of the episode)!

Next Big Thing 04-30-2011 05:05 PM

Damn this damn time zone difference!

The Destroyer 04-30-2011 05:05 PM

Yes, wtf was my exact reaction. Literally.

Good episode though. I really, really like the Silence.

Londoner 05-01-2011 05:34 AM

Really enjoyed the opening 2 episodes. The Silence were brilliantly put together/explained, etc. Could've maybe been 3 parts but i know that doesn't happen these days so not bothered.

The Destroyer 05-01-2011 06:47 AM

I think the general arc is going to expand throughout the series as a whole anyway. I'm sure The Silence, River and the kid will all be back.

El Vaquero de Infierno 05-01-2011 07:20 AM

Aren't they suppose to reveal the whole River Song aspect this season?

In the first two episodes they have definietly made the doctor/river relationship more flirty, so it must be leading to something.

Next Big Thing 05-01-2011 12:39 PM

My reaction at the end of the episode was holy shit. Loved the Silence and the cliffhanger with River at the end. They set up a nice arc involving Amy and the Doctor's relationship and whether the kid is theirs too.

Since they're doing 7 episodes and then a break I'm willing to bet that 7th episode is going to be epic based just on how the first 2 episodes have gone.

Next Big Thing 05-05-2011 10:28 AM

MY THEORY ON THE LITTLE GIRL (SPOILER ALERT... MAYBE)

I believe that there was an episode during Donna's time with the Doctor where the Doctor explained that Time Lord/Human relationships don't work because human physiology can't handle it.

I believe that the little girl will continue to die and regenerate because she is part human. I also think that the space suit they discovered that contained life support was specially built by the Silence to keep the little girl alive.

This twist will probably reveal itself in the 7th episode cliff hanger. Just a theory...

XCaliber 05-05-2011 12:57 PM

The 2nd episode was good very much opened the same way the first did but did it several times heh and a called the significance of the kid looks like they're already planning out a way to continue the series once The Doctor has reached the end of his final regeneration this is really the only viable solution when ya think of it.

El Vaquero de Infierno 05-07-2011 03:21 PM

The new episode was nothing special, except for a couple of things relating to the previous episodes.

The next episode looks more promising.

Londoner 05-07-2011 04:02 PM

Tonights episode was good for what it was, if that makes sense. Just basically filler for the series but entertaining still, imo.

Next Big Thing 05-07-2011 04:38 PM

Yeah I'm still about 6 hours out from watching the show, but the Doctor Who filler episodes are always entertaining so I'm looking forward to it.

PapaGeorgio 05-07-2011 06:00 PM

Agree with what everyone else said. Fun and entertaining episode, but nothing amazing or big picture about it sans few moments.

Next Big Thing 05-08-2011 12:23 PM

That was definitely filler. Didn't like it as much as I thought it would based on the previews. Next weeks episode looks pretty epic though.

Londoner 05-08-2011 12:46 PM

Not quite sure why some people are complaining about it, i think expectations were maybe set too high after the first two episodes. And the previews of this one.

The Destroyer 05-08-2011 12:58 PM

Probably doesn't help that they swapped it about in the running order. It was originally meant to air as episode 9.

Alright episode in general though. I'm really looking forward to next week though.

Londoner 05-08-2011 01:09 PM

Well that's fucking odd that they swapped it.

The Destroyer 05-08-2011 02:31 PM

In hindsight it's a bit of a stupid reason - it was apparently because the episodes that were scheduled to be the first 4 all had too many inside, dark scenes so they wanted something with more exteriors.

Not sure how much sense that makes given that Curse of the Black Spot was set entirely at night, but oh well.

Londoner 05-14-2011 03:02 PM

Meh. This is fucking SHIT.

El Vaquero de Infierno 05-14-2011 03:28 PM

I dunno. I liked this new episode. Much better than the last one.

Londoner 05-14-2011 04:17 PM

I strongly disagree. Switched it off with 10 mins to go. Other one kept me interested though.

The Destroyer 05-14-2011 04:19 PM

Took a bit of time to get going, but I really enjoyed it. Definite improvement on last week.

Londoner 05-14-2011 04:21 PM

Have also read that some are saying this was the best 'stand alone episode ever' wtf? It was boringly predictable to me if anything.

Next Big Thing 05-14-2011 05:17 PM

I've still got five hours left. The previews made this episode seem like it was going to be pretty good. I'm looking forward to it.

Londoner 05-14-2011 05:24 PM

You'll probably enjoy it. Personally i can't see what the fuss was about. Nothing 'big' actually happened. Was just another filler, to me. there was one bit with the corridor stuff with amy/rory that had my interest, but after that, i was like'yeah ok, here we go again'.

XCaliber 05-14-2011 08:04 PM

The pirates episode was better than I exepected it to be and the preview for tonights episode while the premise sounded good what they showed didn't really wow me.

El Vaquero de Infierno 05-15-2011 08:56 AM

I was expecting something better, but I still enjoyed it once it got going.

XCaliber 05-17-2011 12:30 AM

So now that I've watched the episode I must say it was nothing to write home about in fact I thought it was falsely advertised and next weeks episode looks pretty crappy imho.

The Destroyer 05-17-2011 03:59 AM

I'm not looking forward to next week much. It's a two parter written by the guy responsible for one of the worst episodes of the modern series (Fear Her from series 2).

Who knows though, maybe it'll be a pleasant surprise.

Next Big Thing 05-17-2011 05:23 PM

Call me crazy, but I liked this episode much better than the pirate one. It was entertaining seeing the Tardis personified.

I do agree that next week's episode looks terrible and if it's a two parter that means 2 episodes of crap, then the mid-season finale before the show goes on hiatus.

El Vaquero de Infierno 05-22-2011 02:45 PM

Last night's episode was alright, not spectacular or anything, but I have no complaints about it.

XCaliber 05-22-2011 05:23 PM

Must say that it was better than I thought it was going to be but the conclusion of it was so utterly predictable and the the hints were so unneccessary to boot hope the 2nd part can deliver.

Next Big Thing 05-25-2011 08:05 AM

I enjoyed this episode. The hints were maybe over done, but in general this might be my 3rd fave episode of the season, right after the first two premier episodes.

XL 05-28-2011 03:38 PM

Pretty HUGE revelation right there!!

El Vaquero de Infierno 05-28-2011 04:13 PM

BAM!

The Destroyer 05-28-2011 04:19 PM

I did not see that one coming at all.

Next Big Thing 05-28-2011 08:23 PM

I hate you guys right now.

Next Big Thing 05-29-2011 08:51 PM

Loved the episode. Not a bad back to back showing at all. This last episode seems like it's going to be epic.

Dave Youell 05-31-2011 08:25 AM

WOW!

Trying to explain all that to my 6 year old was tough!

Good revelations though

XCaliber 05-31-2011 01:04 PM

Alright so it looks like here they decided to split the season at Rebel Flesh here in Canada DAMMIT!

The Destroyer 05-31-2011 01:44 PM

Nah The Almost People is on this coming Saturday in Canada.

Not sure why you've suddenly gone a week behind.

XCaliber 05-31-2011 02:07 PM

Don't get it the channel that plays it was showing that Shoot'Em Up in it's timeslot instead grrr the week before I could understand because of Victoria Day long weekend but this past one makes no sense.

XL 05-31-2011 02:23 PM

Watch it online?

PapaGeorgio 05-31-2011 08:48 PM

I know US was delayed for Memorial Day weekend, so could be extension of that. I downloaded it either cause wouldn't be able to wait, despite the fact I dont have cable...

Next Big Thing 06-01-2011 12:35 PM

I just downloaded it. I think that's what I'm going to start doing instead of waiting for it to show here.

XL 06-01-2011 10:43 PM

I sent XCaliber a YT link for the last ep that isn't region restricted, I could post them here whenever they show up? Official BBC too so the quality is good.

Next Big Thing 06-01-2011 11:02 PM

Definitely

XL 06-02-2011 05:41 AM

Hmmmmmmmm, I'm having second thoughts now. XCaliber didn't even rep me for my troubles. (Dr) Who the hell does he think he is??

XL 06-02-2011 10:18 PM

Saw the trailer for Saturday's ep, looks pretty epic.

El Vaquero de Infierno 06-03-2011 07:17 AM

Annoys me that we will have to wait until Spetember (?) for the rest of the season. I think Torchwood is back in July, so that should fill the void somewhat.

Next Big Thing 06-03-2011 04:34 PM

Torchwood is absolutely horrible. Especially since they killed all the good characters off (minus Jack of course). Not even the pedophile aliens from Children of Earth could save the series for me.

Next Big Thing 06-03-2011 04:35 PM

Rep whore.

XL 06-03-2011 05:03 PM

Yep.

Tis ok though. The situation has been rectified.

XL 06-04-2011 02:40 PM

HEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEE WE GO!!

Mike the Metal Ed 06-04-2011 03:51 PM

Nice ending, probably slightly obvious if you overthink things while watching them like I don't.

Bit disappointed the Cybermen weren't used more, since they're probably my favourite villain species, as it turns out they probably weren't needed at all since the Silurians and Sontaran nurse had all the screen time. Judoon seemed tacked in too.

Mike the Metal Ed 06-04-2011 03:52 PM

Currently awaiting the TARDIS to turn up to take me to September.

Londoner 06-04-2011 04:00 PM

Enjoyed it though didn't feel like paying too much attention to it. I've really gone off this series ever since the first two episodes.

Mike the Metal Ed 06-04-2011 04:01 PM

Surely "Let's Kill Hitler" is enough to make you want to come back? :D

Londoner 06-04-2011 04:03 PM

Never said i didn't want to come back to it! Just its yet to 'wow' me again.

Mike the Metal Ed 06-04-2011 04:04 PM

The first two eps DID set the bar ridiculously high, tbh.

Londoner 06-04-2011 04:05 PM

that is true.
