WWE Bringing Back Managers?

WWE Looking To Revive Managers

Tyson Kidd was accompanied by SmackDown head writer Michael Hayes at last night's WWE Superstars taping in Nashville, Tennessee. He faced Trent Barreta.

WWE officials have discussed reviving the manager role for some heel performers who can't speak at a main event level.

To not make this a complete waste, tell me who out of the current roster you think would make a good manager.

Testicle 05-11-2011 11:57 PM

You are at best a 4.5 out of 10

Juan 05-12-2011 12:02 AM

thanks for yr. take

Mr. Pierre 05-12-2011 12:04 AM

I think Morrison needs a manager/valet badly (when he gets back).

Volare 05-12-2011 12:06 AM

Cole can be one easy, Vickie already is. Zeke could use one for sure.

Hanso Amore 05-12-2011 12:16 AM

I dont think they need MANAGERS

They need GOOD managers. Is Michael Hayes getting over at all? Ever? Negative.

Cole/Swagger is a natural and I can also see Bill Demott coming as a manager for maybe the Tough Enough winner?

WWE Bringing Back Managers?

Michael Hayes managed Tyson Kidd at the Superstars taping. Obviously, Vickie Guerrero has been working as a manager recently.

Personally, I'm very happy to read this. Some guys can't talk very well and need help getting over. There's no reason to let those guys falter when they could be stars.

What does everyone else think of the WWE re-emphasizing managers? Who could be managers? Who needs a manager?

They need to get this man:

James Mitchell & Mason Ryan

CSL 05-12-2011 12:37 AM

Ok, hopefully we can shut the fuck up now about this

Theo Dious 05-12-2011 12:40 AM

I don't know about the current roster, but Al Snow and JBL would make great choices.

VSG 05-12-2011 12:42 AM

Or not.

VSG 05-12-2011 12:43 AM

I mean, look at that magnificent facial hair. Can't shut the fuck up about that.

Anybody Thrilla 05-12-2011 12:45 AM

Rated R Classic's thread title kept as the destination for nicer language.

Juan 05-12-2011 12:52 AM

You will rue the day you messed with my thread, ABT...

Anybody Thrilla 05-12-2011 12:56 AM

In all fairness, if your thread hadn't been named as such, Rated R Classic may have noticed what it was actually about and not made a duplicate.

Juan 05-12-2011 12:58 AM

You've gone soft on me, ABT.

Can't say fuck in the thread title or Dazz Tan will whine about how he can't surf the boards at work.

CSL 05-12-2011 01:16 AM

Every post and especially threads that I post/start from now on will definitely contain the word 'fuck'.

Droford 05-12-2011 01:19 AM

Sin Cara will need a manager, a voice over or subtitles.

Godfather4Life 05-12-2011 01:20 AM

wanna get some guys over? bring wrestlers from the past who were over. put bret hart with tyson kidd. or maybe old managers like jimmy hart could help. maybe edge down the road could manage a stable. i like someone's idea of a cole miner's stable (swagger, mcintyre). but i think overall managers could help the ones who can't speak.

just a lil bit

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-12-2011 01:32 AM

This is great news for a change. I think we need to take a minute and actually think about that we are actually getting what he wanted. Sure the tag team division still is pathetic, but now we have another old school facet of this industry coming back: managers!

Michael Hayes got the Hardy Boyz over originally, So it's not like it is impossible that he could get Tyson Kidd over too. I don't know if it will be a good mix with Tyson Kid, but we'll never know unless they try.

A Cole Miner stable would be a great idea if they want Cole to do less announcing. Not sure how long he could be a head of a stable and announce both Raw and Smackdown. Something would have to give on that eventually.

They tried Matt Striker for a time as a heel manager but really didn't give him anybody worth managing (Big Daddy V). It could be time for him to stop hosting NXT and announcing on Superstars and try it again as a heel manager. I think that Striker would probably be a better fit with Tyson Kidd if they wanted to switch off Hayes like they did with Brother Love/Paul Bearer with the Undertaker.

Emperor Smeat 05-12-2011 01:53 AM

Regal would work out well as a manager once his time as NXT commentator is over.

Edge could work as a manager but the WWE likes to have its managers get beaten up or hurt once in a while and Edge can't for health reasons.

"INDEED"... or they could even go the La Parka route by having him call his fans "Caramaniacs" and have his voiceover say things that get him in trouble/impromptu matches.

They made it work for awhile with Ted Dibiase as the leader of the Million Dollar Corporation. Dibiase never took a bump while he was the leader of his stable.

Tom Guycott 05-12-2011 02:39 AM

I'm also surprised nobody has mentioned CM Punk. Or Jericho. I know everyone would prefer to see them in the ring instead of merely by it, but honestly, Jericho has "beaten everyone" and Punk proved his out of ring gold on the announce table whilst injured.

They are the closest thing to Heyman in that role WWE has available.

Also, agree with Regal. And Edge... although with Edge, they could try what TNA tried (and inexplicably scrapped, true to form) with Amazing Red/Don West, and that is have a damn FACE manager. I understand that at it's core, a manager is supposed to add a slight numbers advantage to the heels, but still, if done right it could work.

Jordan 05-12-2011 03:42 AM

You gotta think outside of the box that's why Vicky Guerrero and Michael Cole are so successful, nobody could have predicted their ability to get over as well as get other people over. Michael Hayes does the job very well and I think this a great choice for Tyson Kidd, and boy is he lucky. I kinda hope Hayes gets the Dynasty back together and in the process we get one of the best tag teams they could offer back on the scene.

We also have Alex Riley in a old school Mr. Perfect/Ric Flair or Triple H/Shawn Michaels role with the Miz, just wanted to add that.

To those mentioning Punk, what the hell is New Nexus, accomplishes the same thing, it's just that most of those guys suck.

William Regal & Matt Striker immediately come to mind.....

Bring Estrada back and have him be Kharma's mouthpiece. He worked great the first time.

Schlomey 05-12-2011 10:01 AM

Would be happy if Vickie made a small stable of guys to "manage" similar to bobby the brain's "Heenan Family".

She could call em "The Harem" and it could consist of hot young talent.

I am 100% okay with bringing back managers. It's a part of wrestling I've really missed. The last great one in WWE was Heyman with Lesnar, and that was over like gangbusters.

Londoner 05-12-2011 01:57 PM

Perfect time to bring back Shelton then if they're gonna do this.

Lock Jaw 05-12-2011 02:34 PM

And Shelton's Mama

BollywoodSingh 05-12-2011 02:36 PM

Michael Hayes should have been a manager a long time ago. He is great on the mix. I would love to see Arn Anderson, Ted Dibiase, and Dusty Rhodes managing.

Mr. C 05-12-2011 05:00 PM

If true, I’d love to see a couple more managers and some more stables and tag teams, but I really don’t want them overdoing it. Too much of a thing takes away from how special managers can be.

We have:
Dolph Ziggler/Vickie Guerrero
Great Khali/Ranjin Singh
Tyson Kidd/Michael Hayes

I wouldn’t mind seeing Tamina back with the Usos. As far as bringing in people, James Mitchell can talk and could help someone get over. If Mitchell came out and cut a promo for Mason Ryan, I’d mark out.

“Mason, I see you out here with Nexus, and it makes me sick. You’re embarrassing yourself.”

parkmania 05-12-2011 05:12 PM

Give some of the other agents a chance, too. They've got IRS, "Mr. Intensity" Dean Malenko, and Jamie "By God" Noble backstage - USE THEM!

ABT pulled a Tazz Dan. Also, Joel Gertner was quite morbidly obese last time we saw him :'(

St. Jimmy 05-12-2011 05:57 PM

WWE Had managers for awhile.

Lock Jaw 05-12-2011 06:20 PM

Shelton's Mama should come in and manage R-Truth. Shelton comes back and is all jealous like, but kind of works together with Truth... until... Shelton's Mama turns heel on Shelton. Hands Truth a chair which he wallops Shelton with. She then makes out with R-Truth over the fallen Shelton. R-Truth grabs the mic "Hey Shelton... I'mma be yo new daddy! AND THAT'S THE TROOF!"

No I fucking didn't. Juan had the thread title about 'shutting the fuck up about it' and Rated R made a similar thread entitled exactly as this one is now. I decided to merge the threads, but I kept Rated R's title because it described what the actual thread was about much better than Juan's title. In fact, had Juan's title been different, there's a chance that Rated R would have noticed the thread and not made a duplicate. Don't make me out to be the douche here.

CSL 05-13-2011 04:06 PM

nah nah, The Dream spiced up the title after you merged the threads, the delightful words 'fuck' and 'balls' were added at the end of 'WWE Bringing Back Managers'. And now 'fuck' and 'balls' have been taken hostage, probably by some variety of Taliban Tazz Dan sympathizer.

As we saw last week on Superstars, Tyson Kidd is now being managed by Michael Hayes. WWE has been considering the idea of reviving managers in recent months and there are said to be more WWE performers who will be getting managers soon. One other person who has been discussed as a possible manager is WWE producer/agent Arn Anderson. Anderson was considered for the role of Tyson Kidd's manager, but still might be brought in to manage.

Mr. C 05-16-2011 02:06 PM

Arn Anderson is a better choice for a manager than Michael Hayes.

CSL 05-16-2011 02:09 PM

I do not concur

Schlomey 05-16-2011 02:09 PM

Arn was boss as a mouthpiece for the horsemen if I recall correctly.

Hanso Amore 05-16-2011 03:26 PM

I dont like retired wrestlers as a manager. it overshadows the talent. Or at least legends like these guys.

All we are talking about is Hayes, no one gives a fuck about Kidd.

Gotta bring a guy in as a manager, build him up, let him hone his skills, make it work.

Striker HAS been a manager, and really should be again. Turn him heel, fire him as announcer, and have him come back with some baddies and let him work the stick.

DLVH84 05-16-2011 04:48 PM

Guys like Anderson and Hayes were the best promo guys of their time. I think using them as managers is a good way to put over the younger talent. Plus, they can help them with their promos, so one day they're on their own, they would be excellent.

Jimmy Cones 05-17-2011 08:31 AM
