I think it's because MMA judges find it easier to judge grappling than striking, so they give more weight to wrestling and such, but yes stupid score.

I thought Carwin was finished but Herb didn't stop it. Then I'm like okay Carwin won't be able to do much and JDS will finish him but no he actually didn't do too bad after getting his nose destroyed. I like the way Carwin can sneak up really close and get inside like a ninja juggernaut but he needs to throw a bomb and connect for it to matter. Carwin is only 15 lbs heavier and they're the same height so it shouldn't be a surprise that JDS can take him down like he did. JDS is faster and a better boxer and Carwin doesn't have much of a weight advantage as we've seen.
