I wonder what is going on in Wade Barrett's head

http://cdn.sescoops.com/wp-content/u...ttmugshot1.jpg

How would you revitalize his career?

Why exactly did they give up on him?

CAN THEY still SALVAGE HIM or will he be future endeavoured?

Rammsteinmad 07-01-2011 05:57 PM

I wonder the same thing too. I know people have theories about 'ego control' in WWE, pushing him and then depushing him to see how he copes with not always being in the main event... but this is stupid. Last year he was the biggest, most over, heel in the WWE. I find it really hard right now to care about anything he does (mind you, I don't care for Ezekiel Jackson, so a fued with Zeke doesn't help matters).

Juan 07-01-2011 06:01 PM

Dude has been in WWE for like a year. I really don't know what people expected.

Yeah, he was in a hot angle and ME'd a few PPV's but did anyone really expect him to become a top player in such a short amount of time?

He's a solid worker, great on the mic and from what I hear has some fans backstage, so I really don't think it's the end of the world right now for Wade Barret

CM Punk DONT GO 07-01-2011 06:04 PM

Wade Barrett is good but the Nexus under PUNK is way better. I bet Barrett will get a good push if he is good more.

Juan 07-01-2011 06:05 PM

Very eloquently put, CM Punk DONT GO.

BizarroKing 07-01-2011 06:13 PM

I'm predicting him to win MITB.

This post but in big flashing lights, possibly accompanied by a picture of somebody ramming their head repeatedly against a wall

CM Punk DONT GO 07-01-2011 06:17 PM

lol, sorry about that. Sometimes i post too fast and dont read what I put. What i mean is that if Barrett pays his dues for like another year, he will get a solid push like Truth is getting now. But he'll prolly win the belt.

Shadrick 07-01-2011 06:20 PM

Wade will win MITB.

It's just that dumb mentality some people have, that if their favorite guy isn't pushed to the moon, then he's being misused.

In today's climate, the only real way for guys to "pay dues" is to make the best out of the opportunities they do get.

You are absolutely 100% spot fucking on. If some people around here were in charge then 3/4 of the roster would be getting massively pushed and we'd be seeing BS finishes in every match. Wade is a kid ffs, im sure in 5 years time we will be talking about him as one of the very best

Nicky Fives 07-01-2011 07:03 PM

I would be very surprised if Barrett didn't win MITB..... very surprised.....

I'm not saying you're wrong, because you're right. But what's the point in giving him such a huge push and then pushing him down the card? Say he becomes a legit main eventer in three years' time. It could have easily been done with a proper build instead of a huge push then a sudden stop, which essentially restarts him from step one.

They really shouldn't be doing this with guys they haven't "tested". They should have given that push to someone else who has been with the company longer and kept the push going.

This wasn't really directed at you, just in general.

Rammsteinmad 07-01-2011 07:31 PM

In defence of my comments, I'm not, nor was I ever, expecting Barrett to stay in the main event forever. His first feud was with the hottest guy WWE has, there's nowhere to go after that but down.

Sadly, this 'down' seems to be pretty deep with Barrett. I'm hoping for a MITB win though. :D

Cody Rhodes and Sheamus might argue that point? I would absolutely love to see Cody win it, maybe him winning the strap is a little crazy at this point and he could be the first to lose on cashing in but i dont think it would hurt him that badly. I wouldn't be shocked if he won MITB though

St. Jimmy 07-01-2011 08:41 PM

I bet he wonders where Scotty Goldman is.

Mr. Nerfect 07-01-2011 09:05 PM

I'm sure Wade Barrett has got a better understanding of the way things work better than any of us here do, and is quite happy that he seems to be featured on every single fucking PPV and gets time to get himself over both in the ring and on the mic.

The Nexus angle should have been executed better post-Survivor Series (I think this is where it went off the rails), and I do believe that some attention has been taken off Barrett lately, but a lot of that was due to WrestleMania. The Corre only got a few minutes there, because the show was all about the main event stuff, and since then it, also, got stuck in a rut, and we've worked our way down to the group disintegrating.

A big flashing light went off on last week's SmackDown!, though. They had Barrett drop the IC Title to Big Zeke, and then immediately get his rematch to establish the reign of a new champion. But then they had Barrett backstage saying he's done with the IC Title and he has bigger things on his mind.

Truthfully, I can't think of a better choice to win Money in the Bank than Barrett. Sheamus is the only other guy I could really see doing it, but he really doesn't need it. He can just attack Orton, or whoever the champion is, and there you go. Barrett would get a bit of a boost back up by winning, and could cut the promos that the WWE were going for with Mr. Kennedy when he won. The false-build, the strike at any time vibe, etc.

And what do you think about Cody Rhodes winning? Too early? As i said earlier he could win and easily be the first to cash in and lose. He definately deserves it

Mr. Nerfect 07-01-2011 09:10 PM

I can't see Rhodes winning. I think he's getting the slow-burn. The WWE knows what they have with him. It seems he's primed to be the next Intercontinental Champion, and he's got feuds going with Daniel Bryan and they seem to be building to something with Ted DiBiase. I think Rhodes is going to spend some time in the mid-card, looking like an absolute killer before they pull the trigger on him. Next year's Money in the Bank? Certainly.

Mr. Nerfect 07-01-2011 09:11 PM

Also, I don't know why you'd give the guy a win in Money in the Bank and then have him lose. It defeats the entire purpose of the gimmick. You get to pick your spots. It makes no sense for a heel to choke, anyway.

Unless they are running with a new face champion on SD, wouldn't that champion get a massive rub if he was the first champion to survive a cash in?

HBPunk 07-01-2011 09:16 PM

Champion

Triple Naitch 07-01-2011 11:51 PM

He'll be fine. There are people in way worse spots than he is. I'm sure he will be back in the main event picture once another face besides Orton is champion. Their stuff is kinda played out right now. Like many of you, he is my pick for MitB.

But what does that do to the heel? The face can get a rub by losing the title (but putting up an amazing fight and making you believe they have it won), and then winning it back after chasing for a couple of months.

It doesn't affect the heel at all if it were Cody Rhodes because we wouldn't expect him to win. Same way if Miz had lost last year (as many here predicted he would) It would work fine with Cody because he would bitch and moan about it and make him even more pissed off. Cody has been excellent since he started on SD and he deserves a shot as much as anyone

DaVe 07-02-2011 07:21 AM

dayum, hbpunk you're an aussie? or just here for the event?

HBPunk 07-02-2011 07:55 AM

Here for a year man, im irish but on the year long visa thing. You from perth? going to the show?

#BROKEN Hasney 07-02-2011 08:06 AM

I've said it before and I'll say it again. One of my fave guys in the company right now, but he's on TV every week with mic time, I'm no unhappy with how he's currently being used, just hope he gets a decent program again soon with someone other than Zeke.

Don't mind if it's mid-card or upper as long as he has someone good to play off.

HBPunk 07-02-2011 09:07 AM

Agree hasney, would love to see Barrett vs Sheamus when the sexy irish boy finally turns face

Shadrick 07-02-2011 06:36 PM

Honestly, I'd LOVE to see Cody win it, I just think Wade will. Sheamus doesn't need it right now. Wade will take it from a vulnerable Orton at some point, get major heat, and cash in. Or, he'll take it from a celebrating Christian and further Christian going over the edge and turning tweener in the process.

They haven't given up on Barrett as far as I'm concerned but they gave up of The Corre as a group even though they were way better then the New Nexus anywho i'd bank on him becoming the next WHC.

CM Punk DONT GO 07-02-2011 11:34 PM

The Corre was a stupid name for a stable. They should be the EX-Nexus and that could be short to Ex-Nex.

Shadrick 07-02-2011 11:39 PM

Both of those names sound even dumber, good job.

CM Punk DONT GO 07-02-2011 11:55 PM

i dont they they sound stupider. EX-NEX would sell Tea shirts and i would buy one.

FourFifty 07-03-2011 12:12 AM

Wade was pushed as a monster just to be fed to the Cena Superman Machine. He had to job out to Cena to put fuel into the fire. Wade is all the better for it, and got a major kickstart from it.

If Wade is as smart as he sounds then he'll know his time with Cena made him a better WWE Superstar, and should be grateful for it.

HBPunk 07-03-2011 03:36 AM

Cheers for rep VSG but that cuntbag 'the genius' keeps neg repping all my posts for no reason so it dont really matter. Well actually there is a reason - hes jealous as fuck. or he's sitting spazzed in a wheelchair whith his knob lodged in his throat

Rock Bottom 07-04-2011 06:13 AM

Wade Barrett would have beaten Luke on Tough Enough.

HBPunk 07-04-2011 06:24 AM

Well Andy did so Wade definately would. We didnt get tough enough when i was living in ireland (we got NXT tho THANK FUCK!!) but Andy looks like such a mix of Kevin Nash and Edge that i feel i already know what he's gonna do and say and his wrestling ability wont even come close to either. Luke seems like a real twunt so i think he shoulda won it

Wrestling ability wouldn't even come into the equation if he was a mix of those 2 guys. He'd be out injured 95% of the time!

Disco Apocalypse 07-13-2011 10:01 AM

Other wrestlers have had massively hot runs in their first year(s), then burned out to nothing, then come back and been a success. Orton is the poster-boy for that group.

But when you look at the top-stars of recent generations, generally they accelerate (maybe after a long start-up period like HHH) and never look back.

So based on that, not sure about WB... or Sheamus for that matter.

Disco Apocalypse 07-13-2011 10:04 AM

And to answer the question in the thread title, probably something to do with crumpets...

Mr. Nerfect 07-14-2011 06:25 AM

Since Brock Lesnar, the WWE has freaked the shit out about pushing anyone to the moon as quick. The WWE want to make sure Barrett handles being on mid-card duty when he has to and (perhaps even more importantly) the travel schedule of being a WWE Superstar.

As Barrett approaches a year with the company without incident, still doing fantastic work even though his latest job has been to look second to Ezekiel Jackson -- it seems prime time for a MITB win, doesn't it? Don't expect a quick cash-in, though.

Espicially since he (like Miz) could hold onto the briefcase for a while and just talk about it and still be relevant. Someone like Kofi wouldn't be able to do that...

That's exactly it. Barrett can talk about biding his time, waiting until the time is right, etc. Kofi can talk, but a babyface can't do things like that as effectively. They could do a "journey to the top" for Kofi, but Barrett, essentially, has been tested more, and he's got the marketability of a top star. Like previous years, the briefcase on him would be a "Hey guys, we're sure about this guy, so start using him right" mark against his name.

corywards 07-14-2011 11:09 AM

Shaemus winnin' MITB,

and Del Rio for Raw's.

Mr. Nerfect 07-15-2011 04:11 AM

Sheamus is already in the main event picture. He really doesn't need it. The same goes for Del Rio. Those guys have enough claims to future title shots right now. Although, it wouldn't surprise me if one won, both winning would not only be the same on the face/heel spectrum, but it would also be two more established stars taking it.

In Tipsters, I went with Alberto Del Rio and Daniel Bryan, although I want to see SmackDown! and see how Bryan is portrayed.

I'm going with this, because Del Rio could cash in on CM Punk to close MITB, could claim he saved Cena's job for heat to build towards their rumoured SummerSlam match, and with the crowd probably on Punk's side, a heel cashing in loses them no heat.

I'm going with Bryan because he's the babyface I'd most trust with the briefcase on SmackDown! (which is low on faces), and could easily be built up as a title contender by the time a year is up. Plus, he could feud with a heel like Wade Barrett or Sheamus over the briefcase, giving both something to do at SummerSlam, while I expect we'll get a Fatal 4-Way featuing Orton, Christian, Henry and Kane for the World Title. I can just imagine new champion Christian claiming Teddy was trying to screw him out of the WHC. Also, haven't they trademarked the line "Sooner or later, everybody taps" for merchandising purposes?

This is also shaping up to be a pretty big PPV for the WWE, with CM Punk garnering it so much attention. Now is the time to make some new stars with MITB. The world (well, more so than would be watching, say, Capitol Punishment) already know that Sheamus, Barrett, etc. are stars. Giving the win to a guy on the rise is a great way to carry them forward.

Also, I'm predicting a lot of heel victories at the event. Christian should win the World Title; Henry should chew through Big Show (or it derails his current push entirely); the MITB gimmick is tailor-made for heel victories, so a heel will likely win at least one of them. That leaves Kelly Kelly vs. Brie Bella and possibly Cena vs. Punk (if they choose to just treat this like any other match, and not the huge moment it could be) for babyface victories. Way to make people feel crappy about buying your PPV, huh? So a face MITB winner in one of the matches seems like a good pick. They could go with the face cash-in on Punk, or a face victory with Punk taking them out as a factor; but I'm not even sure Barrett needs the briefcase (although I think he would gain a good boost from it).

Sixx 07-15-2011 08:41 AM
