The Barrel Bottom of Relevance

Post something wrestling related in this thread that you either:

A) Hardly remember, but you think other TPWW members may be able to "FILL YOU IN" on...

or

B) Remember quite clearly, but you doubt many others remember.

It could be a wrestler (Alex "The Pug" Porteau) or an event (Raw Bowl)...anything really.

Have fun.

Anybody Thrilla 07-29-2011 08:30 PM

You know how Zack Ryder used to wear those one-legged tights? I will give a nice, shiny reputation point to the first person to name a guy in WCW who used to wear the same style of trunks.

Jordan 07-29-2011 08:31 PM

Gonna guess EZ Money he wore some gay ass tights in WCW...

Not who I was thinking of. Did he wear those too?

HINT: He was (probably still is) black.

He had some funky tights, but I don't think he had the one-legged ones, did he? I'm thinking of someone entirely more obscure.

Yeah I'm wrong for Scorp... I keep scanning my brain for WCW Saturday Night and Worldwide lol....

You're definitely getting warm with this line of thinking.

Anybody Thrilla 07-29-2011 08:40 PM

I can't find a picture of the actual tights, but here's the answer for anyone who doesn't want to guess:

Who was the guy they were going to bring in to feud with Undertaker straight off the bat about 5 years ago maybe.

They gave him promos on Smackdown. I think he was bald and maybe there was two others coming in with him in a sort of modern day ministry stable. Don't think he ever had a match. I can just vaguely remember it.

Weird.

You know, I always thought that Just Joe was an interesting gimmick. He would just go around backstage and spread false rumors about other wrestlers just to piss everyone off. I would have liked to have seen that develop more.

Jordan 07-29-2011 08:51 PM

Can someone explain to me the realty and the storyline of Scott Alcohol (WCW). He would come out wasted drunk and get squashed or not even have a match, very weird. I thought it was a work at the time but now I'm not so sure.

Also, when the Giant came to the ring smoking, was he smoking joints? Because they were mostly hand rolled.

Not sure about the Scott AlcoHall bit, but they were just cigarettes for The Giant. I remember him always instructing Vincent to 'hold his cigarette' before each match, then winning the match before the thing even burned out.

It was a work based on his real problems.

And no idea, be very very surprised if it was pot though.

Totally agree. And Joe E. Legend wasn't half bad in the ring, either. Not going to give you a five-star match every night, but he could go, which would have helped the eventual payoff if they hadn't just dropped the whole thing.

Anybody Thrilla 07-29-2011 09:16 PM

Lethal Lottery, vaguely. I remember Big Van Vader and Cactus Jack having something to do with it.

Dusty Rhodes in the nWo? No.

loopydate 07-29-2011 09:36 PM

I only remembered Dusty in nWo because I just watched Superbrawl VIII when he came out with the Outsiders for their match against the Steiners. I had no recollection of him being there, but there he was.

And I liked Lethal Lottery when I was a kid. But looking back, it was kind of a silly idea.

ozzman6669 07-29-2011 09:39 PM

I remember a guy that was doing security ringside in wwf during the attitude era, the guy was pretty big, was he a former wrestler or indy guy ??

Domino 07-29-2011 09:42 PM

I remember Dusty in the NWO only because of when he got kicked out or "fired" by Eric Bischoff.

Bischoff: "You're fired!"

Dusty: "Oh I'm fahhhhhd! I'm fahhhhhhhhd!"

He shows up during the skit where Jericho gets lost while mocking Goldberg's entrance but can;t remember any other time he showed up besides in pictures.

Salvatore Sincere

I remember him being a huge jobber, then turning face after Marc Mero made fun of him for being a huge jobber and started calling him by his real name, Tom Brandi.

During my picture search here, I uncovered that Tom Brandi also worked at some point under The Patriot gimmick. WWE's Patriot was Dell Wilkes, though. Did Brandi just take the gimmick on the indy circuit or what?

I swore for the longest time that I imagined this. Nice to know I'm not going crazy.

Jordan 07-30-2011 12:11 PM

Tom Brandi was quite good and IMO would have "made it" had he "made it" about 3 years earlier, or was able to come up with a relevant gimmick.

I always enjoyed his matches on Superstars and thought he was a hard hitter with realistic moves.

Blitz was awesome. He retired after WCW closed down and is a teacher or a computer programmer or something now.

What I don't get is that Blitz is nothing more than a spot monkey, but everyone here rips on Jack Evans, his predecessor, who is considerably better in the ring than Blitzkrieg ever was.

So was Savio Vega. Anybody remember his Carribean Strap Match with Steve Austin at what I want to say was 'In Your House: Beware of Dog'?

Actually, the power went out at that PPV. They continued the show live, but the feed was lost to paying viewers, so they had 'Beware of Dog 2' for free. The power went out during Savio Vega's entrance.

I just made myself a little sad upon realizing that I know that.

I was at InVasion in the 9th row. Palumbo and O'Haire v. Edge and Christian, right? This was the same night that RVD made his WW(E) "debut" (if you don't count the mini-ECW invasion that happened circa 1997 when Sabu jumped off the "R" in the word "RAW" onto Flash Funk or someone) against Jeff Hardy and Steve Austin joined the Alliance in the ten-man tag main event.

Other matches included Earl Hebner v. Nick Patrick and a tag team Bra and Panties match where Trish Stratus and Lita defeated Torrie Wilson and Stacy Keibler.

Just in case anyone was wondering.

Palumbo and O'Haire went against the APA in the Invasion ppv while Edge and Chritsian wrestled Lance Storm and Mike Awesome. I had to look up to see who E&C wrestled but remembered the other tag match because of both teams being tag champions and the hype promos for it.

I remember one of the In Your House ppvs had a lead up on RAW where the WWF would call people to be contestants which ended up the chance of winning a house if your key matched a certain lock. Although it could have been money as the prize instead and not a house.

Sabu more "Fell" than "jumped," and it was onto Team Taz during the Taz vs. Mikey Whipwreck match. Other matches included Little Guido (I think the FBI was with him, but I can't recall) vs. Big Stevie Cool (complete with the bWo and a Raven cameo) & Tommy Dreamer vs. Bubba Ray Dudley (which featured D-Von and Sign Guy in a post-match attack and then Sandman making the save). Also, Saturn and Kronus hit Total Elimination on a ring announcer or someone.
