Since this is my game of choice for now, and probably even after BF3 comes out, I thought I would start this thread for TF2 to see if there are any regular players of this game (on PC) on TPWW.

If so, maybe we can get some group TF2 nights going. Pretty much addicted to this game.

So, anyone else play this on PC?

Edit: ALSO, this game is free2play, meaning you can download it off Steam for free now. There are a couple restrictions on free acounts, but literally all you have to do to become a premium account is purchase a single item from the store. Could be something as cheap as a 50 cent weapon, and it will upgrade your account to Premium.

This is pretty much one of the best shooters on the market, IMO. For a number of reasons. It's extremely balanced, there is a fantastic community, and Valve still patches it regularly and adds new content all the time.

Once I get a new laptop I may get this.

You don't need to purchase it. It is free. Although if you want to become a premium user, all you need to do is purchase ONE 50 cent item from the store, and your account becomes a premium account.

Also, the system requirements for this game can't be too bad, seeing as it is 4 years old, and you can also turn settings down/off if your computer struggles for some reason.

Me and RoXer have been TF2ing it up for the past month or so and it is a blast. It can be frustrating, but honestly that's only because of some of the people you will play with who have no idea what they're doing. The game mechanics are surprisingly frustration free for the most part. Thank Valve for patching regularly.

Suck at PC shooters now, so haven't played it except for the day it went free 2 play.

Can I play this with a USB control pad, or am I required to use keyboard/mouse.

I would not trust the quality of normal USB control pads. I have found that most, if not all, are shoddy and don't give you the responsiveness you need.

However, RoXer plays this with a 360 controller and does fairly well.

Keyboard/Mouse is superior though, IMO due to a lack of any sort of autoaim as most games with controllers on consoles typically do. However, this isn't really a game about 'precision', save for maybe the sniper class. It's not as competitive an environment as games like Call of Duty are. Each class takes a different kind of skill, and there is something for all types of players, IMO.

You should just practice and get better at it. Keyboard/Mouse allows you so much more control over what you're doing.

Naw, he's PC game illiterate. My brother and I play most night of the week though. My brother is alot better than I an I am but I'm getting there. I like playing Heavy too much and it's a problem. Trying to get good at every class but bleh

MEH, don't need to be good at all of them. I am absolutely HORRIBLE at scout and soldier, but I have no desire to get better at them. I play them when I feel like 'fucking around' and doing nothing useful.

Req and I can run you through a training course of sorts. You'll need it. If you're not properly introduced into the game, you'll hate it.

Been having problems with my FPS dipping on my screen for no reason at all. Looking into it.

Yeah, we will run you through some training and some maps probably. Once you get the hang of class tactics, and you know what to do as each one, jumping into online is really the best way to learn. People will always play differently than BOTs.

I thought about playing this like 15 minutes ago. But then I remembered how terrible I did last night.

I have plenty of bad nights in this game.. lol.. but it's so much fun when you do something cool that it makes you want to play more so you can do those cool things again.

It wasn't a bad night, it was like my 3rd time playing the game, and the first time I've played a shooter on PC for more then 20 minutes in like 5 years.

Owned this game for literally a year before I gave it a shot. Hated it at first, tbh. Thought it was totally lame because I sucked at it. lol

Make sure you go to a server with low ping, preferably a server local to your area. There is a search function. If that doesn't help, you need a new computer or video card.

ALSO, I recommend people go into their advanced multiplayer options and mess around with some of the options there. Simplified spy menu, floating numbers, etc..

Especially floating numbers. Played for weeks before I knew this option existed.. lets you know how much damage you just did to someone or how much you're healing someone for.

Join a different server. Notice you can sort servers by latency, so join one with a low latency. It's different from console games, as there are a lot of player-ran dedicated servers in this game. Some suck, and some are great. Roxer found one with 32 player limit that is pretty much never laggy. But I've found games with 12 people in them that lag to hell and back.

Been taking to Req, the learning curve is pretty simple. Just seems I ended a lot of matches as a Meat Sim :(

Yeah, the only hat I've ever found was the Grimme Hatte for the Medic. It's a cool hat, but unless there are no medics on the team, I never play him.

Haven't played in 12 hours, my wife signed on around 4 hours ago to buy the item for me but that's it.

Honestly, the only item you really need for Soldier is the Equalizer. Other than that, all of his base stuff is the best.

Unless you like going solo, then get the Black Box because it heals you with every rocket that connects.

Just had a payload match where I got 4K 5A 9:02 alive and healed 780 as a heavy, felt like a goddamn boss.

Don't think I have ever known a soldier who uses Equalizer to NOT pull it out when I'm trying to heal his dumb ass.

Or even worse, when I've followed a soldier somewhere off by ourselves, and the idiot rocket jumps somewhere I can't follow him, and then I'm out in the frontlines all by myself.

I don't understand how I'm wrong. The Equalizer is a straight upgrade over the shovel. Logically, you would carry it with you all the time.

The only other weapon that is technically an upgrade over it's vanilla counterpart is the Direct Hit, but that requires way more skill than I or most people have. Thus I didn't mention it.

If you're playing with a soldier that pulls out the Equalizer while being healed, or rocket jumps away from you while being healed, you're just playing with a bad soldier. It doesn't make what I said any less valid.

That's why. I have not met a single soldier who has it equipped and DOESN'T pull it out as I'm healing them. Not one. Ever. You claim smart soldiers exist out there and, god, I hope you're right because I have not seen one.

I guess I'm basing it off myself when I play Soldier. Like I said, I don't play medic often, but when I do, I deal with the occasional rocket jump, but I've never seen them pull out the Equalizer while being healed. idk, maybe I'm just lucky?

A new player joined the lobby and choose one midway through the match. I decided while good, it just isn't worth the risk of not getting healed.

When you pull it out, the more damage you've taken, the faster you move and the more damage you deal (Up to 40% more, I believe). The downside is you cannot be healed.

The only melee weapon that heals the soldier is the half zatoicha (sp?). It looks like a katana, and until you kill someone, you can't put it away.

I think I found that or bought that today, perhaps why i got mixed up.

Backburner is amazing. Love Pyros.

Yeah, the back burner is awesome. I love how the only disadvantage to it is that it takes 25 more fuel to air blast, which is basically nothing.

Anyways, the only complaint I have in the game are Demo Knights. That was just a terrible terrible decision.

My time played for Demo man is probably like 15 or so hours, but that was a long time ago.

Soldiers I find easy to play but love Heavys if you have a smart medic.

I love playing defensive Heavy with the Brass Beast. Probably my favorite thing in the game.
