2011-12 Fall TV Thread

Well folks, it's that time of year again.

With the half season summer shows either wrapping up or taking a break, its about we time we discuss the fall television line up. Some shows are getting ready or already have debuted and others get started later than usual, I'm looking at you Bones fans.

So take some time to share what you're going to continue watching, what new shows you're interested in, and hell, make some predictions on who's going to get the early ax.

For those who are clueless as to what's on, here's a link to tvguide.com for the weekly line-up.

Continue watching:

House
NCIS
NCIS: LA
Sons of Anarchy
Nikita

Should start watching:

Blue Bloods
The Good Wife :o
Bones
Criminal Minds

Will check out:

L&O SVU: Top to bottom cast shake up. Gotta see how it works out.
Person of Interest
Terra Nova

Early Ax:

The Playboy Club
Pan Am

Corporate CockSnogger 08-19-2011 12:43 PM

Probably going to be checking out Person of Interest, Ringer and Once Upon a Time.

Lock Jaw 08-19-2011 12:50 PM

I will probably check out "2 Broke Girls" on CBS, even though it looks terrible. Will only check it out because of Kat Dennings.

I'll probably check at least the first episode of "Terra Nova".

Will definitely check out ABC's "Once Upon a Time", even though I wish they would have gone through with their "Fables" series instead.

And that is probably it out of the new shows.

parkmania 08-19-2011 02:57 PM

Since I have a total of 1-2 hours per day that I can catch up on tv and don't have a DVR (Comcast On Demand or VCR is it), I'll probably not add anything new to my viewing at this time.

CSL 08-19-2011 08:57 PM

I'd say it stands a decent chance of sucking but I'll be checking the first episode or two of How To Be A Gentleman ft. Rickety Cricket, Johnny Drama and DAMMIT CHLOE

Droford 08-19-2011 09:17 PM

Monday: I cant get myself excited for Tera Nova..so probably nothing.

Tuesday: New Girl at 9 on Fox...Id watch Ringer with SMG at 9 but I dont get CW in HD and our CW station's PQ is abysmal, so I wont bother.

Wednesday: nothing

Thursday: Big Bang Theory..will give HTBAG after a shot, and Prime Suspect at 10 on NBC gets a shot.

Friday: Fringe

Saturday..lol

Sunday: FOX Animation from 8-10, wish Bob's Burgers was at 8:30 instead of Allen Gregory but it doesnt look too bad. Bobs Burgers comes back midseason but then they dump American Dad in favor of the fucking Napoleon Dynamite cartoon..ugh

Jura 08-19-2011 09:41 PM

Terra Nova and Ringer looks interesting. Think I will get into Community one of these days. As for the ones I usually watch they are:

Monday
 • Castle
 • Warehouse 13
 • Eureka
Thursday
 • The Big Bang Theory
 • The Mentalist
 • The Vampire Diaries
 • Bones
 • The Office
Friday
 • Supernatural
 • Fringe
 • Chuck
 • Sanctuary
 • Spartacus
Sunday
 • Family Guy
 • American Dad
 • Dexter
 • True Blood
 • Top Gear

I don't watch TV, I just download them all.

Droford 08-19-2011 09:43 PM

chuck got canned..I think

What Would Kevin Do? 08-19-2011 10:44 PM

If you're not watching Community, you're dead to me.

CSL 08-19-2011 10:57 PM

OMAR f'n LITTLE is in the upcoming season of Community for anybody that didn't know as well as John Goodman

It's in the line-up in that link in the op and I don't see anything about it being canceled.

Droford 08-19-2011 11:32 PM

Ah, it was only renewed for one final shortened season.

Dexter and Walking Dead!

Boondock Saint 08-20-2011 04:35 PM

I give the majority of new shows a chance...at least two episodes unless the first one is god awful...too many to list at the moment.

And of course all the returning shows I watch...also far too many to list

Yeah, this.

Big Bang Theory is not good, guys. Stop telling innocent people like me that it is.

Juan 08-20-2011 06:03 PM

Kinda looking forward to the Whitney Cummings and Zooey Deschanel sitcoms

Triple Naitch 08-20-2011 08:35 PM

This year doesn't look too impressive in terms of new shows.

Skippord 08-20-2011 10:01 PM

I'll probably watch Whitney Cummings show

Nah, Community is good, BBT is mediocre. It's different, but not really funny or clever. Community is hilarious, original, and pretty damn clever. Sadly though, most people don't know about it because they watch canned form comedies.

Not saying BBT is bad. Haven't cared enough to watch enough of it to make that decision. But I'm definitely saying Community is better, and BBT gets a lot more praise than it deserves. It's not special, it's just sort of there.

Jura 08-22-2011 12:54 AM

What's the gist of Breaking Bad?

Lock Jaw 08-22-2011 01:26 AM

High School Chemistry Teacher finds out he has cancer. In an effort to make some real money before he goes, he teams up with a former student to go into the business of making Meth.

CSL 08-22-2011 02:22 AM

I feel the more important gist to point out when it comes to Breaking Bad is that it is fucking brilliant. Watch it now. Like right now.

Skippord 08-22-2011 04:45 AM

seconded

Jura 08-23-2011 11:46 AM

I like how towards the end of episode 7 of Community turns into the end of The Dark Knight.

Splaya 08-23-2011 12:35 PM

Can't wait for the Vampire Diaries to start...gonna be a hot season.

Gonna check out Kiefer Sutherland's new show.

Ringer for sure as I  Sarah Michelle Gellar

Secret circle seems to be good as it's going to follow the Vampire Diaries.

Community, The Office usual favorites.

Sadly I'll watch the first 2-3 episodes of 90210 just to see where they go with it.

And some doctor show staring Rachel Bilson. Cause I loved her on The OC

Lock Jaw 08-23-2011 12:54 PM

Never even heard of this Ringer show, but will probably check it out now.

weather vane 08-23-2011 05:22 PM

Parks and Rec is the best show going

SlickyTrickyDamon 08-23-2011 09:40 PM

I don't have a DVR for this upcoming season  Can't wait to see how Brannon Braga can fuck up another sci-fi series with Terra Nova. It must be the killing Kirk Curse or maybe he's just not that good.

Kinda wish they did that series about the policemen with magic powers. It might have been a fun diversion from the normal crap cop dramas they keep churning out.

Can't believe nobody has mentioned Bored to Death here yet. Can't wait to catch up on season two on demand for whenever it starts up agian.

Jura 08-23-2011 10:32 PM

Bored to Death is amazing, top 3 favourite shows that are currently running with Breaking Bad and Californication. Didn't "feel the need" to talk about shows that already exist tho hence not mentioning it

CSL 08-25-2011 07:46 PM

in fact, might watch Season 2 again starting tonight since I saw the 1st a bunch of times but haven't really re-watched 2

Lock Jaw 08-25-2011 08:27 PM

Didn't think the second season was as good as the first. Maybe. I dunno. I need to watch both again.

Skippord 08-29-2011 03:02 PM

just downloaded both seasons of Bored To Death because of this thread

it is fucking incredible, love Ted Danson so much

Tommy Gunn 08-29-2011 06:07 PM

Can't wait for Fringe, House, Dexter, Bones, Castle, Supernatural, 30 Rock and The Big Bang Theory! :D

Also January we get more Californication!

2 shows that have become so incredibly shit that are off my list this year are Greys Anatomy and Desperate Housewives. Yeah I'm a great big fag for watching them all this time, but we all gotta have our guilty pleasures.

Droford 08-31-2011 09:31 PM

No ones mentioned the Charlies Angels reboot..Im wondering about it..

Jura 08-31-2011 09:41 PM

Never heard of it.

DrA 09-01-2011 12:28 AM

Hopefully it will stay true to the movies.

Droford 09-04-2011 02:49 AM

lol

you do realize it was a TV show in the 70s before it was a movie right?

Juan 09-04-2011 03:07 AM

He does now!

parkmania 09-05-2011 03:00 PM

Here's an episode of the 70's version condensed into 6ish minutes:

The Gold Standard 09-13-2011 07:45 PM

Continue Watching
How I Met Your Mother
Glee
The Middle
Modern Family
Happy Endings
Dexter
The Walking Dead
Califorincation

Begin Watching
2 Broke Girls
New Girl

I may get into others by accident, but these are the ones I am planning.

ddpBANG 09-13-2011 10:34 PM

Watched the New Girl pilot. Damon Wayans, Jr. was the best part of it. Sucks that he won't be in the series.

No love for NBC's Grimm?

Lock Jaw 09-13-2011 11:57 PM

Just watched the New Girl pilot as well. Pretty enjoyable.

Lock Jaw 09-14-2011 01:04 AM

Just watched Ringer.

Not completely sold on it.

Will probably watch the second ep and make a decision.

Probably gonna get canceled anyways.

Juan 09-14-2011 02:53 AM

Just watched the New Girl pilot and I really liked it. Hopefully losing Damon Wayans Jr doesn't affect the flow too much

Juan 09-14-2011 02:53 AM

Is that show he's on, on ABC any good?

Corporate CockSnogger 09-14-2011 06:10 AM

Going to be checking out both The New Girl and Ringer online a bit later on. Hoping I like Ringer just cause I love Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Corporate CockSnogger 09-14-2011 09:41 AM

Ringer was okay without being groundbreaking. It was very soap opera-like. I'll probably keep watching to see wher they head with it, the ending has me interested.

New Girl was pretty fun. Zooey Deschanel was adorable and like a couple of others have said Damon Wayans Jr was really enjoyable in it, "sucks" that he won't be in it full time.

Jura 09-14-2011 11:57 AM

Watched a few episodes of Parks and Recreation but I don't think I will be watching anymore. I guess I only like the quasi-documentary thing with The Office and I don't dislike Amy Poehler but I just can't seem to watch or hear her for too long.

CSL 09-14-2011 03:49 PM

Just pay attention to Ron Swanson, Tom Haverford and Andy and who they are interacting with for that ep and you can kind of zone out for the rest. Those 3 characters are "the shit".

Boondock Saint 09-15-2011 01:11 AM

Just watched Ringer. Pretty lame and predictable. Done with that one.

H8R was eh...one of those reality shows where I'll check out who the celebrity on it is first before I commit to watching it.

About to watch Up All Night.

Droford 09-15-2011 01:45 AM

Gonna watch American Horror Story on FX when it starts in October

Lock Jaw 09-16-2011 02:36 PM

Watched Up All Night. Pretty "eh". Probably gonna be canned.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly. I'm a big Will Arnett fan, but this character doesn't seem to fit him. I'll give it at least one more episode.

Watched Free Agents. Could see myself getting into it, but I wouldn't be sad to see it chopped. Hate that it's "based" in my hometown while looking nothing like my hometown tho.

Jura 09-20-2011 03:52 PM

2 Broke Girls is cute. It will probably be canned though.

Yeah it's pretty good. Has a Scrubs-ish vibe.

Lock Jaw 09-21-2011 03:15 PM

After the second episode, I think I am done with Ringer.

Gertner 09-21-2011 05:46 PM

ffs start watching Boardwalk Empire. Best show on TV.

Triple Naitch 09-21-2011 05:48 PM

New Girl was pretty good, but there's only so much I can take of the "sexy girl trying to do unsexy things" act.

ClockShot 09-22-2011 08:37 PM

Watched CSI this morning. I think Ted Danson is gonna be a pretty cool character this season.

Going to tune in to Person In Interest in a bit. Let's see if Abrams can go 2-3 in TV shows.

Lock Jaw 09-22-2011 09:37 PM

Gotta say, I did not really care for The Office season opener.

Evil Vito 09-22-2011 09:38 PM

It started off pretty good but then took a nose dive. Hopefully it's better next week.

 @ Robert California becoming the CEO in one day

Lock Jaw 09-22-2011 09:46 PM

Did not care for the Robert California character at all. I liked him fine in his guest spot... but... dunno... just have zero desire to ever see him again.

Jura 09-22-2011 11:05 PM

Should have got Finger lakes guy like I said.

Triple Naitch 09-26-2011 08:31 AM

Tried watching PanAm out of curiosity. Turned it off after about 3 minutes.

Skippord 09-26-2011 08:50 AM

watching Two Broke Girls because that blonde girl is the love of my life

DVR'd Boardwalk Empire. Can't wait to watch it tonight.

Lock Jaw 09-27-2011 09:48 PM

Second episode of Up All Night was better. Enough to make me keep watching for now.

Blitz 09-28-2011 06:11 PM

Love New Girl.

RP 09-28-2011 07:13 PM

New Girl is horrible. Also, why did they switch token black guys?

Juan 09-28-2011 08:05 PM

New Girl is great and they recast Damon Wayans Jr because he was already on the ABC show Happy Endings.

Lara Emily 09-29-2011 02:42 AM

I'm in fucking love with Revenge. Addictive as all hell and an awesome cathartic way to spend an hour.

I really hope they keep up with the Revenge of the week format.

Also really good is a BBC show called The Fades.

I'm in love with her character's cold calculation. There's something about people who are determined to the point of sociopathy that is utterly fascinating to watch. People are saying they hope she softens up, I'm hoping she doesn't

Emily VanCamp

RP 09-29-2011 12:04 PM

Question about this show Lara. Are they making her a Dexter like character? That would be hot. Like Dexter meets Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct, out for revenge.

If so, I might need to take a close look.
