Are you kidding me? The dude has been getting it DONE from bell-to-bell as of late. Every match he has is the match of the night. Daniel Bryan a couple weeks ago, Rey Mysterio, Daniel Bryan again, John Morrison...all great matches on free TV. Give this guy some time on PPV and he will blow the roof off of your face.

Nobody's touching his game right now. He's the best, and he's a great champ.

Peep the CONSTANTLY focused attack...the aggression...just how much SENSE he makes in there. A complete pleasure to watch in the ring.

He's fine in the ring. But he's not over to the degree he needs to be to be a champion and has a pretty one-dimensional character. And is honestly not a great promo.

In the end, he's going to be a transitional champion that will be forgotten, just like someone like Swagger.

I prefer watching Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, Evan Bourne, Rey, Christian and Orton in the ring right now, but he's pretty good, enjoy his matches.

More time wrestling means less time on the mic for him though, so I'm all for that :y:

Cena as well right now, but that's against like 2 opponents in Rey and Punk, but hopefully against everyone now.

I'll tell you has also had more good matches in this month? Tyson Kidd. He even made JTG look good on NXT and his match with Bryan > Del Rio v Bryan.

Did you notice that when he does that top rope enziguiri, he jumps up to the top rope straight from the mat? Impressive.

I'm sure we'll see nothing but the best from Del Rio from here on out since he's the champion.

I'll admit that I'm basing it off of matches that I've actually watched, and Tyson Kidd is no slouch, but Del Rio is DAT DUDE right now. Also, I bet his match was better with Bryan WITHOUT EVEN WATCHING IT, and I can make claims like that because I am an internet wrestling fan. :y:

Also good, that Sheamus guy, but Del Rio's moveset alone places him a couple classes above the Celtic Warrior.

Tyson Kidd is fucking awesome also, I would rather watch Rey Mysterio too. I didn't include him because he's hurt though

Del Rio is definitely above average in the ring, and can put on a really good match with the right opponent (usually Mysterio). However, his character is bland, his promos are repetitive and one-dimensional, and his finisher is a rest hold (and yes, I know a cross arm-breaker is extraordinarily painful in real life, but in rasslin', it's a goddamn rest hold). I think he's good enough to stay on the show, and I'd even say he deserves to be in the upper card, but I don't think for one second that he's anywhere good enough to get the super-push he's gotten, winning the Royal Rumble, Money in the Bank, and the WWE Title all in one year.

In the long term, I think he's going to end up as yet another flash-in-the-pan main-eventer, like Swagger and Sheamus and the like, in that he's getting pushed way too fast without really being over enough to justify it, and once he's spent his time in the spotlight and the novelty wears off, he'll spend the rest of his days languishing in the midcard.

We will see just how good he is if he can have a good match against sin cara next week on a live smackdown

Match of the night? Del Rio/Morrison over Punk/Cena? Sorry but the main event was fantastic save the shit ending. Del Rio is good in ring but he's not on top of the business right now which is something you shouldn't be able to say about the champion. I hope in time he gets better but I could do with or without. He's really in the "unconcerned" section right now

Mark Henry > Del Rio right now, easily. Best monster they've had in a very, very long time. Honestly, Henry right now may be the best monster they've had since Lesnar (from an intensity/destruction standpoint).

I enjoy Mark Henry right now too, which is scary and confusing

I like his mannerisms too. That creepy smile and condescending wink fit naturally with his character.

The entire match was great but the 5:47 mark made me a fan.

His mic skills aren't great, but they're still better than a lot of others. I think his charisma is better measured by his facial expressions, which is something he's good at.

Eh Del Rio is good at what he does and I don't mind him I mean he's not as bad as alot of guys WWE has pushed down our throats over the years and he does put on an interesting match most of the time.

I'll agree that he's one of the best current in-ring talents but out well not so much he really needs to work on that to win me over but at least he's already been a better champ than Swagger.

Alberto is the goods but I believe if the upcoming tour wasn't in Mexico, he would drop the belt to Cena before or on NOC.

This. You can definitely see the potential there. He knows HOW to talk. He just needs something to talk about besides the same old shtick week in and week out.

Alberto's matches have been great, but he's always in the ring with someone who also consistently puts on great matches. It's not like he's carrying the matches himself like HBK and Angle used to do. That's not to take away how good he is though. I agree that he's one of the best in ring guys they have, and I have a feeling that like Bryan, we haven't seen what this guy can really do yet.

Hey now, Mark Henry has been awesome as of late.

He plays his character as good, if not better than Rio.

In-ring, he also plays the monster heel as good as anyone in the business.

I am. Henry's matches have been good as of late. He knows how to use his strengths, and how to work around his limitations to create a good match.

Doesnt someone have to mention that the in ring product has been probably the best it has been on a consistent basis in probably forever? It seems either a lot of people have stepped it up or or being allowed to show off more of their talents then before.

Agreed. It does seem like everyone's been stepping up lately or are being given more freedom to really show what they can do to put on a good match and/or promo.

Hell, even the diva's matches lately have at least been some what entertaining and I haven't wanted to just change the channel or do something else during the diva's matches recently.

I do like his matches but mic wise not there when he was in between Punk and Cena monday he looked to be at loss for words and Cena calling him a 3rd wheel in that instance was spot on he was ridiculously overshadowed and being the champ thats not good.

I put that more on WWE than him though. They should know putting him in there against two of the better talkers in the company's recent history with English being his second language wasn't going to make him look all that great.

Cena smashing dude's gimmick and making him look secondary to the Punk/Cena feud didn't help either.

Why are so many of you mentioning his mic skills and character? I didn't say a fucking thing about any of that. In the ring, he is the MAN right now.

And to whoever mentioned it, yes, Del Rio/Morrison was better than Cena/Punk BECAUSE of the crazy ending to the latter. I'm not even saying that the ending to Cena/Punk didn't serve its purpose, because it definitely did, and I have no problem with it...but Del Rio just had a nice clean little diddy with Morrison, and it was the shit.

What makes Punk better than Del Rio in the ring? Nothing, for my money. Just because he says he's the best in the world and wears a t-shirt saying the same thing doesn't necessarily make it true. If Del Rio yelled out "I'M FLYING" right before the enziguiri, would that be better?

Now let me clarify, I love CM Punk too. All across the board, the product is hot fire right now. So many awesome talents who are great at what they do...but Del Rio in the ring is the Don Dada right now. Sorry guys. It's true.

I think people hold the fact that English isn't his first language against him.

That's a silly thing to hold against his in-ring skills.

I like that they have been making him more aggressive, and focusing on him in the ring/attacking people. Covers up his weakness in other areas.

I'd have to disagree a bit and go with Punk being the top or "untouchable" for in ring quality although Del Rio would still be in the Top 5/10 right now.

Del Rio does add a lot with his mannerisms and facial expressions to his matches as well as setting up the nice spin move before going into the arm breaker finisher.

I know your topic is wrestling skill related and youre right along with Punk, Bryan and a few others the man is a god in the ring he is a prime example of why I like wrestling ,but you have to admit mic work and wrestling are all but married these days personally I brought up monday just because its such a sore spot on an otherwise untouchable performer and it just doesn't wash easy that's all

And to whoever put Mark henry Over ADR I'll grant you hes been doing it well but when has being a monster heel ever required the in ring prowess of Bret Hart? so the I humbly say dude:wtf:

You can't really compare them directly, because their styles are so different.

All I'm saying is that Henry has been performing his style of wrestling as well as Del Rio has been performing his. Which you think is better, accounts to personal preference. This being the internet, most won't even consider Henry, as there is definitely a bias toward more agile, technical wrestlers, no matter where you go on the web.

I used to be the same way, but I've really come to appreciate the bigman style over the past few years. In part because I realized how hard it is to have a good match, when they don't have all the tools and options that smaller, quicker wrestlers do.

I'm not discrediting mic work as a key factor to a complete "superstar" at all, but what I AM talking about in this very thread is ring work alone. Is it too much to ask to separate the two for the sake of what I'm saying?

That being said, his mic work is solid too. He's about to have a lot to talk about very soon here, so keep watching. He's gonna blow your mind. Even more than Heath Slater.

No its not asking too much at all I just found it irritating and had to vent, like I said it stuck in my mind just because it was so noticable and as was stated it has nothing to do with english being his second language and everything to do with him being made into the odd man out in a confrontation between two guys (Punk and Cena )I was just abit irritated that he's the damn WWE Champ and hes booked as an afterthought to them.

Having said that as I a said phenomenal worker and I do love that Cena Has focused his rage on ADR as I'm hopeful this fued will force Cena further away from being a five move miracle man and more of a entertaining wrestler and make ADR into more of a bastard heel

For me, they rectified that situation at the end of the show. ADR attacking Cena in the way that he did was almost screaming "AM I AN AFTERTHOUGHT NOW!?". But that's just my take.
