So it finally happened..*RAW Spoiler*

SPOILER: show
Quote:

RIP WWE Brand Extension 3/18/02-8/29/11

After all the talk about how they should end it and all, it finally happened..and it went out with more of a whimper/afterthought than I expected. HHH is just sort of like "Hey, Im letting smackdown guys be on RAW now..and now lets bring out Kevin Nash to nWo music!!"..

sort of like the whole Annonymous GM angle..

loopydate 08-29-2011 09:11 PM

Wow. I think somebody might actually murder you for spoiling that. Like legitimately drive to your house and stab you until you're dead.

Tazz Dan 08-29-2011 09:17 PM

Yeah wtf dude.

Tazz Dan 08-29-2011 09:20 PM

Don't know if this is actually a spoiler, haven't seen the show. But still.....

Droford 08-29-2011 09:20 PM

oh boo hoo..with how they treated it I wouldnt consider it a huge spoiler..

and now when you read the thread you have no idea what I was originally talking about..it looks like the WWE is DEAD or something lol

Krimzon7 08-29-2011 09:22 PM

Bout fucking time

LOL...the guy put RAW SPOILER...

...Whoever came in and read it, did it KNOWING it was a RAW SPOILER...

...so...no harm done.

DLVH84 08-29-2011 09:36 PM

Now let's unify the WWE and World titles.

loopydate 08-29-2011 09:37 PM

He changed the title. It was originally "RIP Brand Extension" with the date it started, hyphen, today's date.

Jura 08-29-2011 09:37 PM

Title was edited

#1-norm-fan 08-29-2011 09:39 PM

I haven't seen Raw yet being on the west coast and all. But this doesn't sound like the END of the brand split. Just them letting SD guys wrestle on Raw to get more exposure. Like they did with ECW/SD back in the day. I don't particularly like the idea. I'm just saying, this doesn't sound THAT earth shattering.

Aguakate 08-29-2011 09:39 PM

...Well, then...KILL HIM.

BizarroKing 08-29-2011 09:40 PM

So how many tims will this topic be edited?

Mr. JL 08-29-2011 09:42 PM

Sounds too good to be true.

Aguakate 08-29-2011 09:44 PM

It's just temporary, I'd say...I don't think it's THE END.

Shisen Kopf 08-29-2011 10:39 PM

Big up to droford. It's not a spoiler, its on right now. People in other countries? Who cares

BOUT FUCKIN' TIME.

VSG 08-29-2011 11:19 PM

When you hover the cursor next to the title the spoiler shows up :'(

Theo Dious 08-29-2011 11:21 PM

Umm... this isn't the first time the brand split has seriously been blurred. Around the time WWECW started up there was very little distinction among brands. It happens from time to time. They'll tighten it up again when they feel like it, and there is going to be no title unification any time soon.

Shisen Kopf 08-29-2011 11:21 PM

The show is over in the Eastern USA so it's not a spoiler for anyone who matters

Juan 08-29-2011 11:27 PM

Id be willing to say that they'll have the belts (World/WWE and US/IC) unified by the end of the year.

Its no coincidence they're bringing back that PPV in October.

Lock Jaw 08-29-2011 11:55 PM

Yeah, if everybody is gonna be on both shows now, there really is no point in having two world titles.

Droford 08-30-2011 12:03 AM

I figure they'll do it just like they did back in 2001

Probably Orton vs Henry and Cena vs Punk?

MARK HENRY FOR NEW UNDISPUTED CHAMPION!

More marketability having so many guys have a belt.

Logan 08-30-2011 12:39 AM

I'm hardly surprised that the brand extension is supposedly "dead" now (though I guess itll have to be somehow confirmed on SD just to make it complete).

To me the brand extension/split "died" years ago. For a few years after it happened, I thought it worked pretty well, by having the undercard on fairly regularly (which I thought was the entire point); but then that changed (when it happened specifically, no idea), and they went back to their classic method of having most of their top and some mid card people on, and shelving the rest.

Mr. C 08-30-2011 01:19 AM

The only bad thing about this is that the point of the brand split is to give more wrestlers more time on air. Hope it's only temporary.

Look at all that talent. :y:

This discussion definately couldn't have happened in the still active Raw Thread.

As a matter of fact, Vengeance evolved into Night of Champions. Remember Vengeance: Night of Champions 2007 when John Cena pinned Mick Foley?

The MAC 08-30-2011 04:04 AM

NO ONE HAS MENTIONED THE MAIN THING ABOUT POSSIBILITY OF THE NWO REFORMING!

http://www.miserableretailslave.com/...od%20Hogan.jpg

will be back in WWE!

Aguakate 08-30-2011 04:06 AM

Nah.

One can only hope Scott Hall will somehow be involved...maybe this will give him an incentive to stay clean and sober.

Rammsteinmad 08-30-2011 04:43 AM

I'm probably in the minority, but I hope the brand split stays. So many stars are gonna suddenly lose a lot of air time if they reunite the brands.

Yeah, because that's what everyone remembers Vengeance: Night of Champions for.

Agree. Plus (and i may be wrong) it would mean wrestlers would be working more shows and more demands on their body. Unless they work around this somehow?

El Fangel 08-30-2011 07:48 AM

I came in here expecting a "Cena lost"

Though I am happy for this news.

El Fangel 08-30-2011 07:53 AM

I haven't watched wrestling in a while. If they had a show on Mon, Wed, Fri (I think they do) at two hours a piece and have PPV at 4 hours it would work.

XL 08-30-2011 09:30 AM

No. That would be overkill.

Innovator 08-30-2011 09:31 AM

You want the writers to pump out 6 hours of new TV each week, with an additonal 2 every 3-4 weeks? The writing is redundant as it is now.

XL 08-30-2011 09:35 AM

"Haven't watched in a while" = redundant opinion.

Innovator 08-30-2011 09:35 AM

Listen, I haven't watched in a while, BUT it suxors!

El Fangel 08-30-2011 10:18 AM

I have attempted to watch wrestling several times now. Each time, Cena shows up and I switch the channel.

Perhaps Ill try again soon.

Innovator 08-30-2011 10:21 AM

Cena has been tolerable lately as long as he doesn't go into the "poopy" jokes.

XCaliber 08-30-2011 11:12 AM

Highly doubt the brand split is going to end I think this is just a test too see how the ratings do and unless they go up significantly enough it ainčt happening cuz having 2 shows touring creates more revenue for them.

arent nxt and superstars, albeit on the internet, essentially the extra 2 hours a week?

One thing I figured is that WWE used to run SD house shows on Mondays, but obviously they either will have to stop that or run them with limited talent which would decrease interest a ton.

Innovator 08-30-2011 11:47 AM

ok so make it 8 hours then.

Mr. C 08-30-2011 01:51 PM

From what I understand, SmackDown guys will be on RAW while RAW will remain solely on RAW, so the guys in trouble are those like Drew McIntyre and Primo, but I don’t think it’s the end. It means we’ll see more talent drift over to RAW to compete every so often, but I don’t think it means CM Punk and John Cena are going to be on SmackDown, for example.

I don’t think it’s the end of the brand split for 2 reasons:

1. The commentary kept referring to people from shows: Jack Swagger from RAW, Sheamus from SmackDown, etc.

2. Triple-H said foreseeable future. These super shows will end at some point. This will go on for a month or two.

I don’t think it’s as long term as people think it is. This is more of a gimmick for some ratings that the show desperately needs (ex: guest host).

Yet you're an advocate for ending the split? You realise that would mean Cena on EVERY broadcast, right?

I just want things the way they were when I enjoyed wrestling. :(

XL 08-30-2011 03:22 PM

Ugh.

Droford 08-30-2011 03:23 PM

I think Theodore R Long gets the boot tonight. Either HHH puts Steph in charge or he just runs everything.

Emperor Smeat 08-30-2011 05:02 PM

I actually like the brand split because of how many more wrestlers benefited from the split and even when Raw was just about Triple H in the beginning or Cena now, Smackdown had something different for their main events or focus.

Most likely this is just for the short term either because the Fall sweeps are coming soon or to at least keep people from just ignoring the show once Monday Night Football returns.

parkmania 08-30-2011 05:21 PM

My $.02:

The "Raw Super Show" will continue through the NFL season, then will end. WWE knows they lose viewers during MNF and are trying this to hold on to as many as possible.

EDIT: Grrr... Had to deal with customers and didn't hit the submit post button in time.

Theo Dious 08-31-2011 12:48 AM

I'm speechless that so many people miss the marketing here.
The stated reason for this is that there is little interest in the Smackdown brand.
To counter that, you mix both brands for a while to garner further interest.
When this is perceived as having been achieved, you ratchet up the split again, so that people who have been hooked on certain wrestlers have no choice but to watch Smackdown to see them.
Why is this so hard to understand?
