ohhhh shit

meh...It sucks to say, but unless you want to marvel at how GSP can systematically nullify then decision his opponent, you're not gonna like the outcome.
I, however, do appreciate a brilliantly executed gameplan. Just not excited for this. GSP needs to move up and get KTFO by AS already. |
Yes, we get it, Silva will KO GSP...
I think this will be awesome cause I'm a huge nick diaz fan. I just hope he doesn't do something to fuck up this fight.
Say goodbye to stikeforce soon after this fight...
I pity whomever's dream this is.

I'd rather they go ahead with the 'dream fight' of Nick Diaz and Mayhem.
Diaz & Melendez have signed cross-promotional contracts allowing them to compete in both SF & UFC, Dana White said.
I hope GSP caves in his face then shakes his hand afterwards.
Strikeforce isn't going anywhere anytime soon unless Showtime lets Zuffa buys out the remainder of their tv deal and either way who cares what name is in the middle of the Octagon? They're all fighting under Zuffa contracts now anyways. The only thing I'll miss from SF is Ranallo, Shamrock and Militich on commentary.
I didn't know Melendez got a cross-promotional deal too. 155 is stacked as is. |

lol I wouldn't call Melendez and the Diaz brothers jumping Mayhem and the 4 of them rolling around with more people then getting involved 'laying him out with one punch'
This is a dream match???
Hardly a dream match, they're in the UFC

Condit vs. GSP - UFC 137 Thread
Dana just announced at a press conference that Condit is replacing Diaz as Diaz apparently no-showed a bunch of press junkets
<iframe width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/dTtfhYvQBUI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Been a busy few days |
I actually quite like Nick Diaz and his whole "I don't give fuck"/hoodbwoi schtick but he's been a fucking spastic right here

nick diaz is a fucking toolbag

It's definitely inexcusable on Nick's part. He's blowing (may have blown) a golden opportunity. I can kind of buy the social anxiety thing though. He always looks uncomfortable in interviews and never makes eye contact with the camera or person interviewing him. If or when Nick gets his shit together and fights for the UFC they should match him up against Fitch. Penn would be more exciting, but I feel Fitch is more deserving of a match up like that. |
Is Greg Jackson going to be neutral like he offered to be for Jones/Evans?
I guess GSP would still have Tri Star and Farad Zahabi, but Condit would be S.O.L. wouldn't he? |
He ran like a bitch from Mayhem, now he's running like a bitch from GSP.
Fuck that weak thug wannabe. His existence is the number one argument against legalizing pot (hyperbole ftw!). |

Scott Coker was just too much of an incompetent fat fucking coward to tell Miller to his face. Dude went blow for blow with Paul Daley, but he's scared of Mayhem Miller? Come on mane. http://www.mmafighting.com/2011/05/0...er-due-to-str/ |
fighting Paul Daley who is guaranteed to do nothing but stand in front of you and throw punches and fighting Mayhem who is naturally the bigger guy and can beat you a bunch of different ways are 2 completely different things
I'm not discussing style so much as the notion that anyone who steps in a cage and fights for a living, especially a guy like Nick Diaz who would trade blows with a fighter known for his one punch knock out power like Paul Daley, would be running scared of another fighter.
I'm sure all he had to do was explain it to Dana. I'm sure the UFC would have found a buffer for him (someone to speak and answer questions for him) and all he woud have to do was make the appearence.

GSP out of UFC 137 with injury.
http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2011/10/1...ut-with-injury :( Hopefully it's not too bad and they'll just postpone the fight for a bit instead of booking something new. |
wowww brtl
It's still a decent card with GSP off it. I wonder what Condit will do now though. If GSP is out for an extended period and Condit still wants to fight before the years out, Fitch should get the opportunity to take him on.
Penn and Diaz become main event. Which is ironic considering White's concerns with Diaz not showing up in the main event to fight GSP.

I say throw Koscheck in there to bang with Condit, if Koscheck can even be ready to fight 10 days out. |
That's the thing. I don't see them finding someone willing to fight Condit on ten days notice so they might take him off the card altogether and if that's the case and GSP would be out for an extended period, putting Fitch in that spot would make sense.
It would be kind of epic though if GSP's injury was minor and they ended up doing Condit/GSP on UFC 140 with Jones/Machida. Doubt it would happen, but would be a pretty good card. |
Apparently, Koscheck is/was lobbying to fight Condit and sending Dana twitters about it.
"Hey @danawhite :) duty calls again???" -Josh Koscheck
"gotta respect Kos offering to fight Condit on a week notice. I respect the shit outta u Josh! He's waitin 4 GSP tho" -Dana White So that answers that I suppose. Word is that it'll be about 4 weeks before he can start training again and maybe another 1-2 months after that before he's ready to go. |
makes sense. can you imagine if koscheck and penn won their respective fights? no point either of them facing gsp again
GSP would literally walk out with Koscheck's eye in hand if they fought again.
apparently Diaz just no-showed a conference call
and now he's just turned up

I love both Penn and Diaz.. Penn is a fucking legend and I've been a fan of Diaz since his first stint in the UFC.. The promises to be a fight of the year candidate and eithewr way, I'll be a happy camper..
Kongo is a viscous striker but I've been really impressed with Mitrione as of late.. If Mir can KO Chieck, the so can Mitrione.. Huge mark for Roy Nelson.. Also, I heard he has lost a good bit of weight and has the best cardio of his career.. http://i.imgur.com/bepgV.jpg His ground game is light years ahead of Cro Cop but of course Mirko ALWAYS has a strikers chance.. Here is the countdown.. http://www.cagepotato.com/video-countdown-to-ufc-137/ |

I see Kongo surprising him the same way Big Nog surprised Schaub. Cheick's a huge step up in competition from Christian Morecraft. |

LOL @ Dana overreacting during the face off. I'm still excited for this card even without GSP.
^^ I gotta say the UFC gets an A+ of hyping up ppv's ..I was set on not ordering after GSP got crossed off. Now im leaning towards ordering it anyhow ,damnit
After watching the prelims I fought with myself about ordering it, but decided against it.. I'm def gonna watch the co mainevents before football starts tomorrow though..
WAR Cowboy |
Holy shit. Never seen BJ this beat up from the stand up.
Diaz looked damn good in this one.
Did BJ just retire!? Damn.
Pretty sure he just retired.
Two all-timers in MMA retiring in one night...WOW.
I will say, I think we should give Penn a couple of days...to make sure he goes through with it. I got more of a sense that it was a hasty decision, similar to when he was talking after his draw with Jon Fitch. Cro Cop seemed more decisive in his decision. |
GSP vs. Diaz is back on! Condit agreed to step aside.
Awesome fight..
I was kinda pulling for Diaz but now feel bad.. Quote:
Love him or hate him, Diaz=ratings..
This is prolly the most intense presser I've ever watched.. http://www.mmafighting.com/2011/10/2...ference-video/ From how Dana reacts to Diaz, Diaz talking shit about Mayweather (LOL), to him talking about his living situation.. Simple fact is, this is the hightlights from the post fight press conference and they don't show ANYTHING, including Cro Cop retiring, but Nick Diaz.. Pretty fucking awesome.. |
Oh yeah, and you can def tell that Dana hates him..
I watched the whole press conference. Cro Cop wasn't there and it was pretty boring until Nick showed up. Nick was pretty even keel until the fight was announced. Then he flipped shit.
Honestly, I think Dana secretly loves the guy. He doesn't have to worry about Nick fighting a Jon Fitch or even GSP-esque fight that won't appeal to the mainstream fans and no matter how ridiculous some of these things Diaz says sound, they promote the fight and make him more of a personality. The squeaky wheel gets the oil and the buzz. If he took getting removed quietly, Dana probably wouldn't have changed the fight, but deep down he knows he'll do better buyrates with Diaz/GSP than Diaz/Condit. |
Dana loves the money he can make the UFC, sure, but you can tell by the way he looks at him he is thinking "You dumb stoner fuck"..

Congrats! @nickdiaz209 Now Holds Record for Most Significant Strikes Landed in a UFC Fight Two consecutive events have seen the all-time record change hands for most significant strikes landed in a UFC fight. While Nam Phan captured it at UFC 136, Nick Diaz now holds the record, with 178 landed against BJ Penn. Incidentally, Penn now holds the record for most significant strikes landed in a UFC career, capturing that distinction from Chris Lytle. |
Nick Diaz ($200,000), B.J. Penn ($150,000), Cheick Kongo ($140,000) and Brandon Vera ($120,000) were the top earners at this past weekend's UFC 137 event.
Overall, the 22 fighters who competed on the card earned purses totaling $1,026,000. MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) today requested and received the list of disclosed paydays from the Nevada State Athletic Commission. UFC 137 took place this past Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The night's main card aired on pay-per-view, and the preliminary card aired on Spike TV and streamed on Facebook. The full payouts included: Nick Diaz: $200,000 (no win bonus) def. B.J. Penn: $150,000 Cheick Kongo: $140,000 (includes $70,000 win bonus) def. Matt Mitrione: $10,000 Roy Nelson: $40,000 (includes $20,000 win bonus) def. Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic: $75,000 Scott Jorgensen: $33,000 (includes $16,500 win bonus) def. Jeff Curran: $8,000 Hatsu Hioki: $30,000 (includes $15,000 win bonus) def. George Roop: $8,000 Donald Cerrone: $54,000 (includes $27,000 win bonus) def. Dennis Siver: $27,000 Bart Palaszewski: $28,500 (includes $10,000 win bonus)* def. Tyson Griffin: $25,500* Brandon Vera: $120,000 (includes $60,000 win bonus) def. Eliot Marshall: $15,000 Ramsey Nijem: $20,000 (includes $10,000 win bonus) def. Danny Downes: $4,000 Francis Carmont: $12,000 (includes $6,000 win bonus) def. Chris Camozzi: $8,000 Clifford Starks: $12,000 (includes $6,000 win bonus) def. Dustin Jacoby: $6,000 |
It's a tragedy seeing $120,000 next to Brandon Vera's name and only $54,000 next to Cerrone's.
$40k for Nelson
Vera is such a chump. It sucks because he had potential. Never been the same since the Syvila fight where he stunk out the joint.
lol that video is cool. Diaz is super calm until the weigh-ins, then he goes into psycho mode, he knows how to get into an opponent's head that is for sure. Also LOL at BJ eating everything, no wonder he looked doughier than usual.

I'm not a Penn fan but when he actually bobbed and weaved and back away he was actually doing well but when he stayed near the fence and did that stupid hand thing he didn't stand a chance.
