WWE: The Channel
OK so now we know that the WWE Network is planned for sometime next year in 2012...the real question I wanna know is what type of programming would you put on such a network?
-WCW Programming -Classical WWE stuff from the Attitude Era and 80s and earlier. -ECW (I'm thinking late night programming called ECW After Dark) -PPVs What do you think we'll see? |
-ECW (I'm thinking late night programming called ECW After Dark)
Hehe |
I'd love for them to show every Raw and Nitro in chronological order.
|
They should do a special on Scott Hall...
...it could be called "CHICO! Life on the Edge". |

The Marine, every Monday night at 9PM EST!
|
I'd like to see some reality stuff on there like WWE Cribs and something that follows them on the road for a bit.
|
I like the Legends of Wrestling Roundtable stuff.
Maybe bring back WWE Confidential too. |
WWE's Greatest Rivalries.
Make it into a show. Follow a specific feud over the course of how many episodes/weeks it takes. Just show all the segments and matches involved in chronological order. Perhaps with commentary if you can fit it in there. |
wwf primetime!!
i want vintage heenan! |
 ECW After Dark
|
I'd settle for anything, as long as it isn;t edited at all..... If they don't want to air Attitude Era/ECW "risky" segments or shows, put them on at midnight..... I don't want to see edited versions of anything, but I know that it won't happen.....
|
Superstars and NXT for starters
|
I wonder if they'll continue to have RAW on USA and Smackdown on Syfy.
|
Does this mean no more WWE 24/7 or that was only meant as a temporary thing until the WWE finally got around to getting an actual tv channel?
|
I hope they work double-time and do whatever they can to be able to say "WWF" and show the old logos uncensored.
Maybe the new network will inspire them to once again try to do something about that. |

The cribs thing is a good idea..but I don't think every wrestler is living the luxury life so might be like 10 episodes
|
GTV should make a return....

Pay the WWF a shitload of money and add some sort of disclaimer at the start of the shows promoting the Fund.
So no. |
I never really read up on the specifics of the deal, so I wasn't sure if it was even feasible. Although if they're not making people pay for the channel (which is a long shot at best), I could see playing a 5 second [pose] promo to start certain segments.
If it's that simple, it's definitely possible. I imagine there's more to it than that, though. |
Besides, they've already gone through the trouble of editing so much for so many DVDs, why not just use what they've already edited? Probably not worth it given the hours already devoted to keeping the logo/mentions off the product.
|
Nah, there's nothing really out there on it, but I would imagine that what I said would be what they'd have to do, along with Vince crawling to the Fund on his hands and knees.

Block logo stuff is easy enough even if it's not finished since it's really just censoring them saying "WWF" and any "W W F" signs in the crowd. |
I mean, I would love to be able to see stuff from that time like it was when I watched it live, but now it just doesn't seem possible or worth it.
Plus a lot of it is on YouTube or Dailymotion or some other site. Is it the best quality? No, but it's also free so how much can one really complain? |
Quote:
I'd assume most of the changes with the Block logo was due to them switching to an HD feed or setup for the on-screen logo placement so there wouldn't be two logos on the same screen. The WWE should also still have the original uncensored and non-blurred tapes of their stuff unless they were dumb enough to do all the edits on the original copies in case they ever decided in the future to get the Panda group to allow them access to the scratched logo again. |
I just get annoyed watching and having the audio drop, and the constant blurred images everywhere.
Takes me "out of it". It is a big part of why I don't buy more DVDs. |
The blurred images I don't mind for some reason.
Audio dropping out does bug me a lot, even though I know it can't be avoided. |
It's been almost 10 years. I'm used to it

I want to see Chris Benoit.
But I know that isn't going to happen. |
Classic films re-made with WWE superstars
|
Star Wars: A New Hope
Darth Vader - Vince McMahon Luke Skywalker - Shane McMahon Princess Leia - Stephanie McMahon Han Solo - Triple H Chewbacca - The Great Khali R2-D2 - Hornswoggle That's all I've got for now |
since they own the film footage from most territories they could show each one from it's earliest episode in order. I'm in my 40's and would enjoy that.
They will probably also show the Roundtables that they do for WWEonDemand. Plus I'm sure we'll see Tropical Thunder, Hogan's wrestling cartoon, and whatever other old shows with wrestlers in it they can find. I know WCW had one that used to come on Saturday Mornings with some Lyle Alzado (former Oakland Raider) playing a wrestler and WCW guys always made cameos. |
It'll be the XFL Network... as this is doomed to fail.
|
I think it's only doomed if they don't use the vault of film they have.
Supposedly the channel was supposed to be up a couple years back, but they wanted to wait until most of their library was put to digital. |
The morning block could be some of the comedic stuff japan does, you know for the kids, some Razor Ramon HG, Tiger mask and so on, the afternoon could feature the roundtable stuff, maybe some of the DVD documentaries, the evening could be kicked off with an Ellen rerun or if they cant get that, some Tuesday Night titans, pipers pit, what have you. the vening could be an anything goes marathon on different nights of the week like Nick at nite used to do with I love Lucy bewitched blah blah blah., late night could be ECW interspersed with Z True Long Island Story.
|
Razor Ramon Hard Gay is for the kids?
|
I'm hoping they have a theme each month like they do with the on-demand service.
Examples: -March/April could be dedicated to Wrestlemania, maybe a special 24 hr marathon of Mania just before that year's Mania on Wrestlemania weekend. Maybe throw in the other 'big name' PPVs for the other companies (ex: Starrcade, November to Remember, etc) -An ECW month or a weekend dedicated to lesser known companies -Airing The Great American Bash in July -Bash at the Beach and Summerslam in the Summer -Royal Rumbles in January with maybe one of the 4 World War 3 PPVs for the lulz And so forth. |
October could be Chyna's porn videos.

UFC hasn't been hot since 2009.

I hope this leads to at least 2,000 more episodes of the Legends of Wrestling roundtable
|
Roundtable needs to be a corner stone.
I'd like mini biographies of guys who normally wouldn't get a DVD. Like a half hour or an hour on someone like X Pac. I could see them filling time by doing blocks of titantron videos, kind of like MTV. Love the idea of doing the Monday Night Wars chronologically. And it'd be cool if they could air some of the raunchier shows uncut (ECW, Shotgun, etc) in later hours. Unfortunately, I do see a lot of movies being put on here, including non-wrestling related. Also, I see a shitload of infomercials. Though if they did all their infomercials with wrestlers I'd watch them all. |
I bet they have a QVC style show to shill the Shop Zone stuff
|

Can definitely see NXT and Superstars being thrown on there. And hopefully house show classics like they did on MSG.
I do wonder about what they put up against RAW and SmackDown!... |
Quote:
|
I hope they air all those old Wrestlefest or Supertapes tapes
|
Found this on ebay, it's a list of every Coliseum Home Video WWE put out (PPVs included). They totally need to put the majority of these on there.
SPOILER: show WWE has so much wrestling-related footage (I've heard it's over 100k hours) that they could literally run nothing but wrestling shows/docs/etc 24/7 and not have a repeat for like 10 years. And that doesn't even include stuff that would be first-run, nor the stuff currently running. There's really no reason to have movies and shit like that on the channel, other than ratings, obviously. |
I would rather have them just air old PPVs from WCW and WWE days but sadly I'm sure they'll air movies to kill time or whatnot. I also wonder if they'll do paid programming in the early morning like other certain channels, but considering this is WWE we're talking about I doubt they'll need it.
|
They should buy the rights to air Saved by the Bell reruns
|
They should air Wrestling's Greatest Secrets Revealed

-Pay per View Best of's or marathons before the big ones (WM...summerslam, series)
-Monday nights(affter raw on USA) Monday night wars the show -Tuesday, tuesday night titans and other filling programes that ever aired on tuesday -PPV or just something like that classic matches show on wed - thursdays Thunder repeat(in order...like everything) -Friday See weds -Saterday-smackdown repeats (in order -sunday at 6 Raw repeat(can re watch raw before PPVs) have all those monday to sunday shows in order -I like someone mentioned late night shows(ecw, docs and shotgun) -have the shopzone be the infomericals, or work out shit (get big like wrestlers for loosers who think the only thing standing between them and a wwf champ is muscle) -get the rights to hogan knows best, those movies about werstling, the wrestler, wrestling with shadows and the one with manking and funk -original programing ofcours, mostly roundtable stuff would be awsome -TV show like Letterman but staring different WWE people everynight, great way to get them over, or just have a regular hosts and bring on wrestlers AND Celebs. They'll plug anything and if theyre pop enough people will toon in and see the wrestlers and give them time to get over. -everything theyve ever recorded for(then) colosium home video and the feud thing can make so much good stuff, some feuds went from NWA to AWA to NWA To WWF to WCW they can make a few hours on a lot of feuds if they showed every match segment like i always waanted dvds for. Maybe even a sitcome staring a wrestler or about a wrestler with comeos Had a bunch more in my head, i started it in a word document and starting making sauce, so came back to it and was beaten to the punch on shopzone and abunch of stuff might post more later |

They need to purchase the rights to the Boy Meets World episode where Corey has to go to Topanga's sweet sixteen at the same time as Vader's big match against Jake "The Snake" Roberts.
|
Don't forget about that episode of Family Matters with The Bushwackers.
|
Naitch, ABT, thanks for reminding me of those episodes, I'll watch them now. :)
|
also have the rights to feature every dark match including old ones that were recorded and use new comentary .... I bet you can find a lot of dark matches with the rock, Angle, Ringmaster ect....tryouts too, they save those in video I know.
|
Hope they show it in the UK....doubt it though.
|
Plus Long Island Iced Z should have a regular spot.
|
a sitcom with austin married with three addopted black kids or something...
Austin In Charge... |
TYRONE: Yo, what's poppin' Stone Cold? You peep that new Weezy collabo?
AUSTIN: .....what? *CANNED LAUGHTER* |
They should show married with children, king of the hill and other White trash shows that rasslin fans like

For Monday night wars, I'd like a feel of flipping back and forth so combine and edit Raw and Nitro into like an hour or two special every week, I'd fucking flip.
|
Or they can air the first hour of Nitro and Raw in it's entirety after that, only switching back to Nitro during commercials. :shifty:
|
they could do 1 hour a day monday to friday...

Intresting New Details on WWE Network.
From the Front Page...
New Details On The WWE Network Inside Here By Ryan Clark on Thursday, September 22nd, 2011 at 12:40 PM EST Z.Z. sent the following information in about the WWE Network. The following information came from a survey he recently took, and there is some very interesting information included about the big four PPVs (WrestleMania, SummerSlam, Survivor Series and Royal Rumble)… Imagine a 24-hour cable network that was run by The WWE. It featured a mix of WWE-made programs, including new shows, repeats of Raw and SmackDown from USA and Syfy and “classic” or “historical” programs featuring shows from different promotions like classic WWE footage, WCW, ECW, NWA, AWA, etc. from years past. It would have two new weekly WWE live in-ring shows (wrestling), but not SmackDown or Raw. It would have a daily live in-studio viewer interactive show similar to SportsCenter. Additionally, this network would include WWE’s “classic big 4″ pay-per-view events including WrestleMania, SummerSlam, Survivor Series and Royal Rumble to the lineup at no additional cost. Rather than having to pay for them, they would now be specials with the same match quality you’re used to seeing on pay-per-view for no additional cost. These 4 events would only be available on The WWE Network. In addition to The WWE Network, you would receive approximately 30 additional channels including NFL Network, NBA TV, Biography Channel, Fox Business Network and Fuel TV. How interested would you be in upgrading your service for an additional $7-$12 per month to a tier which would include the WWE Network described above?” Maybe I'm not reading it right but you get those 4 big PPVs for free? Rumble and Mania for free if you have the network may be worth it just for that. Thoughts guys? |
ROFL, there is no fucking way they would put any of the big four as a first run on that network for free. Zero chance of that happening.
IF they were going to do that, it would be like what they do for Mania on NBC 6+ months after the fact. Edit: Actually, just re-read it. Essentially turning the WWE Network into something like the NFL Network. I could actually see something like that WAY down the line when PPV gradually starts to fade out because of obsoletion. But for the forseeable future, no way. |
Until someone other than Clark posts this, I wouldn't believe a word of it.
|
When I read that I'm like no way but the more I think about it, everyone will get this channel if that is at least remotely true. What better way to get a new channel of the ground?
|
Can I sign up for the month that Mania is in? Then cancel?
The $7-$12 certainly beats $60 or whatever it is. |
From the sounds of it it'd just be on the regular sports tier, and I have that already, so I'm all for this
|
All-Star Wrestling
Championship Wrestling Superstars Of Wrestling Wrestling Challenge All-American Wrestling Prime Time Wrestling Mania Tuesday Night Titans Wrestling Spotlight Saturday Night's Main Event The Main Event Action Zone LiveWire Friday Night's Main Event Shotgun Saturday Night Sunday Night Heat Super Astros Jakked Metal Excess Confidential Experience Velocity Sunday Night Slam (TV specials before the PPVs like "March to WrestleMania" for WrestleManias, "SummerSlam Spectacular" for SummerSlams, "Survivor Series Showdown" for the Survivor Series, and "Countdown To The Crowning" before King Of The Rings) And I'll be set. |
Z!TLIS I can see it now.
|
I assume they figure if they get 2-3 million people paying 7-12 a month, its better than getting 2-300,000 paying $50 a month.
300,000 @ $50 = $15 million before the cable/sat companies take their cut, whatever that is. So if they only get 2 million paid subs @ $7 a month they pretty much get all of that money AND the cable company doesnt get much of a cut. 2 Million is about 1/3 to 1/2 of how many people watch RAW/SD so that might be a high figure of subscribers to get.. The only PPV they'd lose money on is Wrestlemania since they usually pull in 1 million buys for that. I could also see them doing the PPV forward, but charging less for them and having extra matches or something.. |
Actually, the cable companies get closer to six million on 300k buys. WWE only gets about $18 off the PPVs.
Also, to be honest, I don't see 2 million people buying the WWE network. I would be shocked if they get more than 500k subscriptions. I really don't think they're strong enough for more, especially with RAW and SmackDown! not being on the network. if they were exclusives on the network, I could maybe see a million or two. But not without it, even with PPVs being on the station. |

Quote:
WWE will do their part to promote the channel enough so that actual wrestling fans won't forget about it. |
Why don't they put the shows that get low buys on the network instead of the big four? That way they can make their money on the big 4 PPVs and they save the embarassment of the low figures for the other 9 events.

From PWInsider:
WWE revealed their latest Network plans with the following series announcement: "In 2012, WWE Network’s new daily live studio show will connect you to the Superstars like never before. Tune in to score breaking news, exclusive match analyses, topics of the day, interviews, highlights, and commentaries, then go online and on-air to voice your opinion live with our show hosts and daily guest stars, including WWE Superstars like John Cena, Randy Orton, Kelly Kelly, Sheamus, Rey Mysterio, the Miz and more!" WWE are asking fans to pick from the following names for the series, which would be their answer to ESPN Sportscenter: *WWE Power Center *WWE Action Center *WWE Event Center *WWE Live Event Center *WWE InterAction Center |
Figure this should be the official WWE Network thread.
|
They do to a Hard Knocks style show following a superstar for a month, preferably one that can't remember his kid's names.
|
Cro-Marty Jannetty, he could have based an entire gimmick around it
