Horror Movies

Name some good, fucked up and/or funny Horror Movies to watch, since it's getting to be "that time of year".

If they're on Netflix Instant, even better.

Fuck the movie forum.

Not on Instant, but it is on Netflix and well worth it. It's called Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon.

It's presented as a documentary (though it is not) about Leslie Vernon, an aspiring serial killer/slasher movie villain. Very clever, and awesome if you're a fan of slasher movies.

Japanese movies are terrible to watch, cause I get fuckin' confused as to who is who after like 3 minutes.

Roflmfao

Oh, uh iv always been a fan of the Paranormal Activity movies.

Mr. Pierre 09-25-2011 02:59 AM

Best: Halloween (the original)
Best (in the shitty way): Jason Takes Manhattan
Fucked up: Human Centipede

Also, Scream 4 was a lot of fun. Highlight of the movie was Anthony Anderson's scene.

screech 09-25-2011 09:07 AM

See No Evil, obviously.

screech 09-25-2011 09:08 AM

And Halloween Resurrection, because of Busta Rhymes.

Fox 09-25-2011 09:15 AM

The Monster Squad

If you wanna' watch something that will leave your brain hurting from the sheer idiocy of it, watch "Rubber." It's about a tire that rolls around and makes peoples' heads explode. Yeah...

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! This movie has an awesome ending

Malfeitor 09-26-2011 05:20 PM

Even though it's been mentioned twice, Basket Case. Classic.

Check out Hatchet as well, it's on Netflix streaming.

PapaGeorgio 09-27-2011 12:07 AM

Not a real movie but a fake trailer/short film saw today that was pretty awesome.

you didnt really get it then...too bad

My vote is for the Feast Trilogy, with 1 being really good, 2 being ok, and 3 being so bad its funny.

As much as I find CHUD to be a hilarious idea for a movie, it is so fucking boring. My friends and I were infatuated with the movie, but rarely watched it because NOTHING FUCKING HAPPENS.

Whichever Elm Street movie has Freddy playing nintendo.

Cause that's awesome

LuigiD 09-27-2011 12:16 PM

The Argento films are pretty good imo. Most people don't seem to know them since they are foreign. The Three Mothers trilogy is not bad (the last one is bad actually). Inferno was kinda weird. Just very predictable and then the end came around and it was like "HOLY SHIT!". Still wonder if it was worth it just for the crazy ass ending.

Lara Emily 09-27-2011 01:03 PM

Somehow LuigiD talked about the Three Mothers Trilogy without actually naming the best one directly. Suspiria, watch Suspiria, love Suspiria, experience Suspiria. It's amazing, probably one of the best horror flicks ever. It's beautiful.

Verbose Minch 09-27-2011 03:25 PM

Check out John Carpenter's The Thing, if you haven't seen it. It's my favorite horror movie of all time, and they're releasing a prequel to it in October.

I liked Suspiria when I was younger. The concept of witches just seems cheesy now as an adult :-\ I still like it, but I think Inferno is my fav.

Lara Emily 09-28-2011 09:07 PM

Suspiria is a classic, it's art that goes beyond witches. Hell it almost transcends the horror genre. Suspiria is a movie I wish I could show to non horror fans.

RBM 09-28-2011 09:35 PM

Hanger and Bad Biology were probably the two most messed up movies I've seen in the last couple of years.

Poultrygeist is quite the fun time. Hobo with a Shotgun for a newer one.

As mentioned, the Feast trilogy is pretty awesome, with the first one being a legit, great horror movie and the other two being insane.

If you haven't watched it yet and you want something that captures the Halloween spirit, do yourself a favor and check out Trick 'r Treat.

Demons 1 and 2. Man, I wish they'd release these on DVD.

If you want something hilariously bad and worth watching while drinking, Troll 2 and the remake of the Wicker Man with Nic Cage is definitely tops on my list.

CSL 09-28-2011 09:51 PM

that post inspired me to go and look for a song from the Demons 2 soundtrack that I'd been looking for for ages but had forgotten until that post. Ledge

They have in North America. I have em both.

RBM 09-28-2011 10:30 PM

I assumed they had but I've never personally seen them in a store.

Captain of Fun 09-30-2011 03:41 AM

Alien is probably my favorite. Fantastic atmosphere, and pacing. The scares themselves aren't the focus, as much as the build to those scares, which is what a good horror movie should be, imo. Also plays upon the fear of the unkown, as it's never explained where the aliens came from. Even the crashed ship where they find the egg is a mystery unto itself. Too many horror movies these days, explain in great detail at some point in the film, the origin of the antagonist. Doing that kind of dilutes the threat. It's much scarier if things are left ambiguous and unexplained.
