Gertie's official ROH Thread
This is a thread where only the art of WRESTLING will be discussed. No sports entertainment here. A promotion that stresses the spirit of competition, where you can check your personality at the door, because intensity, respect and honor is the name of the game here. Where every match is the MOTY, and where the chairs are fortified for your fat ass needs.
So let's discuss the upcoming television show where WRESTLING truly matters! Now let's get down to business. Grizzly Redwood vs Pelle Primeau. MOTY without a doubt. Thoughts? http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/k...d-computer.jpg Where WRESTLING matters. |
PERSONALLY I think the Young Bucks vs. a returning Dunn & Marcos would be 5 stars.
|
I disagree. Dunn cracks a smile during his matches which shows WAY too much personality. -3 stars
|
Oh. Gertner is throwing a fit again. Nice.
|
I honestly can't wait for Respect and Honor War of Attrition and Respect VI so I can see Davey Richards kick some guy really hard 6000 times, randomly do lots of moves for no apparent reason other than get to his next lot of random moves, kick out of 6 super head drop bombs before going over with a single dreaded Closed Fist Punch (it's deadly because he screams before he does it) before looking around intensely and then shaking his opponents hand after the hardest most epic match of his life. Before going on to have the same hardest most epic match of his life again the night after against some local skinny guy in a nightclub. Who the fuck needs a bit of psychology, timing and structure when you can just do lots and lots of moves?

Stop ruining my thread Narc

it depends if they managed to get the crowd to chant "AWE-SOME WORK-RATE" during the match. If not then they probably didn't manage to kick each other enough times.
|
CSL raises a great point.
|
I thought this was a nice gesture by ROH
"Ring of Honor Announces Bring Your Mom to the Mutual Respect Without Honor and Maybe Intensity iPPV" Ring of Honor will be letting fans bring their moms to the iPPV for free in an attempt to reduce the carbon imprint of mother having to sit in their cars idling for 3 hours while their sons are in the venue. Hopefully this create a bonding experience, as well as give the sons some practice in the realm of social skills as their moms will be the closest thing they've ever had to a date. |
You know, ROH could benefit from running exercise seminars before the shows... You know, teaching basic things like sit ups, push ups (probably girly), jogging, etc. By doing so, they may raise the chances of their fan base dying as older, fat virgins, as opposed to young, obese virgins.

"Grr! im in the IWC, but I like to pretend im not by posting half assed jokes regarding indy promotions the rest of the IWC supports!" People who want to bash ROH are not allowed to be CM Punk fans btw.
|
Sure they are. That's silly.
|
What promotion does CM Punk wrestler for?
|
Wow, horrible preposition use in that last post. I am so sorry.
For what promotion does CM Punk wrestle? |
This is about as funny as AIDS
|
So while I chow down on a big old AIDSburger, I give this 7/10

I need to be made Mod of this thread so I can get rid of non-workrate discussion
|
This brings me to my next question:
Can you have Honor without Respect? Or do those two generally go hand in hand? |
Honor in one self or honor in another.
|
And now, my two favourite "comebacks" that ROH fans make when you make fun of them.
1. "Well the WWE is for kids". Lol, it's two men fake fighting. What's so different about it? That ROH does it with respect and honor? 2. "I bet you wouldn't say that to Eddie Edwards face". I've heard this one numerous times and I have yet to figure out how to respond to this, as it never has anything to do with what I said in the first place. |

"ROH is full of vanilla midgets"
"Well I bet you wouldn't say that to Rodrick Strong's face" WTF is that? |
I probably wouldn't tell Ezekiel Jackson that his show is lame and for kids to his face either. :o

I'll challenge him to a bout of Artistic Combat.

Gertner is this thread going to be a super serious thread of great success? BC pro rasslin is the awesome
|
Davey Richards has less moves than Cena, no fucking bullshit either.
Boring, shitty promotion that'll hopefully die out soon. |

I like the ROH because it is like the Cosby Sweater of Pro rasslin'.

Man, this thread is amazing.
truly. fucking. AMAZING. yeah. |
Good to see ROH sprung for a new iPhone to shoot their TV taping last night.
|
It was only a 3GS though. ROH is still super cool though. I like it when they do stuff. Like moves and shit. It's great.

Also, nice to see ROH's main event featuring a tag team no longer with the company but anyways.
Midnight on a Saturday to debut their product? ROH sure knows their audience i'll say that. |
1 am timeslots are where it's at. ECW! ECW!
|
lol ECW is the cause of all of this
|
But...but they were on 11am, 9pm and 1am here :'(
|
11am- ROH fans will be finished eating their mommy made breakfast and cartoons
9pm: because it's a Saturday night, what else are they gonna do 1am because mom and dad have went to bed and therefore they can get away with jerking off all over their Death Before Dishonor DVD while watching ROH on TV |

Sorry, this thread decided to uphold don't ask don't tell. You're banned from this thread.
|
Also, in other news, the Code of Honor is retarded.
|
For a guy who doesn't watch indy wrestling, you sure do know a lot about it.
|
I love me some workrate. Yum!

Ring Of Honor sent out the following today.
For the first time ever, Ring of Honor will be holding a special two-day tryout camp and seminar on Saturday and Sunday, November 12th and 13th at ROH’s headquarters and wrestling academy in suburban Philadelphia. This camp will provide those who attend the rare opportunity to be seen and evaluated by officials and pro wrestlers from Ring of Honor. The seminar will be organized by ROH’s top officials as well as Jim Cornette. “Our one day seminars that we have held in the past have all been a huge success.” Cornette said. “This time you get twice as much evaluation and personal time with the officials. These camps have been the catalyst for us signing Michael Elgin, Mike Bennett, Tommaso Ciampa and others. We hope to find exceptional talent like those great athletes that would fit the ROH roster. Remember though that this is not just a try-out because everyone will learn something new and we can guarantee that.” Those attending the two-day seminar will spend all day with Jim Cornette, Match maker/head trainer Delirious, camp administrator Kevin Kelly, ROH World Tag Team Champion Charlie Haas, and others. Attendee’s will receive in-ring instruction from Charlie Haas and Delirious. Both men will be assisted by various ROH wrestlers including Rhett Titus. Interviews and promos will be evaluated by Jim Cornette and Kevin Kelly who will also assist in match critique. You can expect all areas of wrestling to be covered at the seminar from the in ring technique to the out of the ring attitude. Amongst the items on the curriculum are video taping personal interviews as well as sample promos. Watching each attendee work out in the ring and video taping exhibition matches that will be critiqued in detail. Not only will your work on promos and technique be assessed but conditioning, appearance, mind-set and potential will also be evaluated. We will get a complete look at the talent, and then detail for them either what they’re doing right, or what they need to improve on to make it to Ring of Honor and become an all around better wrestler. Those who impress us will be given an opportunity to take the next step and possibly being booked on live ROH events. Not EVERYONE from the seminar will be booked, but SOME will be, and we promise everyone will get their money’s worth. The seminar is open to any current pro wrestler with at least one year’s experience. Each attendee is responsible for their own transportation to and from the ROH Academy, and any necessary lodging. The $295 registration fee includes each day’s activities plus lunch, video of the campers’ tryout match, and critique by the ROH staff. Saturday will start at 10am and last until 5pm. Sunday will start at 10am and last until 4pm. Enrollment is limited to 35 applicants, to insure each camper receives individual attention. To enroll, you must complete the application form, and submit it and your registration fee to ROH on or before November 12th, 2011. Your application form can be emailed to rohhelp@aol.com, faxed to (215) 781-0727, or mailed to Ring of Honor, PO Box 1127, Bristol, PA 19007. Payments for the seminar can be made by credit card, paypal, check, or money order. If you are paying with a credit card you can email the details to rohhelp@aol.com or call our office at (215) 781-2500. Paypal payments can also be sent to rohpaypal@sbgnet.com.
