BOOM! GSP out over 10 months/Diaz vs. Condit (UFC 143 Thread)
An injury to his ACL has forced Georges St. Pierre out of his welterweight title fight against Nick Diaz at UFC 143.
Georges St. Pierre was set to defend his welterweight belt against Nick Diaz at UFC 137 before Diaz missed a media obligation. He was then scheduled to face Carlos Condit on the same card in a title defense. Then the news broke that he suffered an injury to his knee in practice and would defend his belt against Diaz at UFC 143. It appears that the injury was much worse than originally suspected as St. Pierre will be out for more than 10 months. The UFC is now scheduling Condit vs Diaz for the interim welterweight title. http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2011/12/7...-interim-title ----- Well this sucks. |
If Diaz beats Condit can you imagine how much more hype and excitement will be surrounding a GSP/Diaz fight with Nick going in as the "interim" champion? Especially if he defends the title once or twice before the fight? Epic.

MMA is a work, this is all a bullshit story to build hype for Diaz/GSP. You're all lemmings.

he "injured" himself so he wouldn't have to fight Anderson Silva, cuz YINNO, GSP is a HUGE PUSSY
Ducking Diaz again.
fuck

Or worse case scenario, Fitch somehow ends up the Welterweight Champ. That's worth a thousand NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.
Here's another interesting possibility, if Dana still has a hard on for GSP/Silva, what's the likelihood that he gives GSP extra time off once he's cleared in order to bulk up for 185 since GSP has said if he did move up he'd want time off to properly prepare? If Dana wants that fight to happen, it needs to be by the time GSP is cleared to fight again anyways considering Anderson's age. Also, it wouldn't make sense for GSP to come back a Welterweight and win that title again only to vacate it and take even more time off to move up to Middleweight. Especially if the current champion at Welterweight ends up being someone GSP has already beaten like Fitch or Koscheck or someone he would have nothing to prove against like Jake Ellenberger. Plus, it protects GSP by giving him a built in excuse (coming off surgery/long layoff/ ring rust) if he does get demolished by Anderson and decides to move back down to Welterweight. |
I feel bad for Condit. Shit, how many times has this fight been changed up on him?
Damn..
Diaz will destroy Condit.. |

I actually don't mind GSP being out because it changes things up. We get an exciting interim title match and now that GSP is out of the picture, the top 10 guys get a chance to step up and shine for a bit before GSP returns and probably wrestlefucks them intoa fine red paste.
I could also see this leading to Koscheck getting another title shot depending how things play out.
As much as Diaz/GSP might be really good, I would like to see Diaz in a match or two before going after the title.

anybody gonna have a stream? considering firstrowsports.tv was my bread and butter stream but its gone

Of course it works, that specific domain was never owned by the guy who got busted.
With that said, do not post the actual links in the forum. They will be deleted. |
For those who missed it... Watch the first round of the Caceres/Figueroa fight just for the low blow. To quote Joe Rogan, "It sounded like a home run."
Worst one I've seen yet. |
2 points is quite ridiculous though.
still 2 low blows is a bitch move
Two brutal low blows, and two pretty brutal head kicks. Definitely enjoyed that fight.
Both low blows were clearly accidental though. I really think the two point deduction was a bit much.
i dont think they were purposeful though. a warning, then a 1 point deduction seems appropriate. giving a 2 point deduction after a warning is just pretty much throwing the fight away.
I feel like the two point deduction was fair only because the brutality of those low blows probably took so much out of Figueroa that he would need that kind of compensation to make up for it if he did somehow manage to hang in there. And Herb Dean went out of his way to emphasize that it was a hard warning.
i could somewhat understand that. just never seen it before and was slightly shocked by it.
dana unhappy? huge surprise there.
Holy hell at that submission.
That was pretty much "Tap or I'm going to break your arm right in front of your face."

the point deduction

Rogan makes Goldberg sound clueless sometimes. I feel like commentary would be much better if you had Rogan and Anik. Even better if Frank Mir goes into the booth full time when he retires.
damn that knockout just now

lets go condit and big country!
My money is on Diaz, but god I hope he loses.
Also, as always, I'm rooting for KOS. |
how could you do that?
stream anyone? please?

WAR KOS! |

i hate him and i hate his hair
Kos should've lost a point there
Might have to go with a split decision there, with Pierce getting the edge.
Honestly could have went either way. I'm happy KOS won, BUT I wouldn't have been upset at all if Pierce would have won.

Fighting like that isn't illegal, it's just bad because it can lead to pokes. Throwing a lot of inside leg kicks can lead to low blows, but you can't warn someone for throwing leg kicks, and take a point on the first low blow. |
yea it was really a toss up
Koschek won on name recognition.
Nelson cracks me up.
nelson is one tough dude. but a decision for werdum is expected here. legit contender.
Clear win for Werdum. Still, wtg Big Country for shrugging off about 300 kicks/knees to the head.
Nelson is slowly winning me over, because he is legitimately a touch son of a bitch. He's like the opposite of Brock. He doesn't care that he's getting his ass kicked, he won't go down.
Werdum should def be Fabricio "Doctor" Werdum though.
Congrats to random Brazilian guy #412.
Come on Condit. Please break Diaz's jaw.
I would die laughing if Bruce Buffer was yelling in my face
good so far
match was a toss up. but im going with condit
Definitely Condit.

Didn't expect a unanimous decision there. Good for Carlos though.

LMAO! Diaz is a bitch.
lol Diaz is such a pussy.
what a gracious loser.
Good Riddance. What a sore loser. Can't wait for Condit/GSP.
whats with people losing and quitting?
No way Condit won 4 rds.
3 at a push. |
Both of the Diaz brothers are twats.
Condit fight like a pussy.
There's no way in hell Condit deserved a unanimous decision, but he did win the fight in my opinion. I think Nick's style played a part in that though. He doesn't check leg kicks or even make an effort to block or avoid other strikes from his opponents, so they score/look good too.
Unfortunately, GSP vs. Condit isn't that intriguing to me. |
Yeah, Diaz GSP was my dream match..
Aggression? Diaz only won the fifth round. This fight was never in doubt. Confit didn't worry about pace, he focused on distance, and he kept Diaz right where he wanted him(kick range). Did you realize that condit set a record for kicks landed? He landed as many different combinations as I have ever seen. I feel like Diaz was exposed as a one trick pony here. Yeah he's a black belt, but why didn't he use those skills? Cut angles, close distance, get to the ground and do work. If he changed his gameplan after getting schooled in the first, or second round...the fight could've come out differently.

Hate the Diaz losers so much, love when they lose.

I thought it was 3-2 Condit. Rather have Diaz/GSP though Condit/GSP might be a bore fest.

The fight can be close as hell each and every round but one fighter could actually win every round. Sometimes unanimous decisions are much closer fights than split decisions.
I kind of think Fabricio is dirty. He pointed to the ground multiple times trying to distract Nelson plus he put his fingers in Nelson's asshole in the first round. I don't think this is dirty but I noticed sometimes he goes down even if the other guy doesn't really tag him hard enough and tricks the other guy to come in for the kill so he can submit them. I think GSP could take down Diaz at will easily. GSP is smart and can do what Condit did tonight but also has the take-down option at his disposal. |

His last loss, beside the doctor stoppage against Noons and the cloudy piss no contest, was in 2006.. |
Yeah but which top level promotions has he been in in time?
UFC, Pride, Elite XC, Dream, and Strikeforce..
So pretty much every "big" promotion of the last 6 years, minus Bodog Fights or IFL..
