Ring Ka King
I'm actually curious to see how this thing goes. Recent reports have listed potential involvement from Chris Masters, Chavo Guerrero, MVP, Cliff Compton, Nick Dinsmore, Sonjay Dutt, Shawn Daivari, Arya Daivari (Shawn's younger brother), Cheerleader Melissa, Matt Morgan, Abyss, Carlito and even Bobby Lashley. That reads as a pretty interesting list of former WWE/TNA talent.
Although the product is currently being designed exclusively for Indian audiences, there's a possibility that it could be picked up by outside networks, which I think could be awesome, since I'm sort of more excited for this than I am TNA's usual stuff. |
It's definitely going to be interesting. I hope they have videos of it soon.
|
Dave Lagana is involved in the creative process, apparently. So it should make more sense than Impact.
|
But so is jarrett and Dutch Mantel so well see
|
Savio Vega is also involved, so...it'll be shit.

:nono: Smart move TNA. There are 1.2 billion people in India so lets do some mathematics... There are 312 million people in the United States. Impacts facebook suggests that 674,039 of those 312 million are Impact Wrestling / TNA fans. If the mathematics are correct that means, being generous here, that %.3 of the U.S. population likes Impact Wrestling / TNA. Lets apply the same proportion to India and we come up with a potential 3,600,000 (3.6 million) Impact Wrestling / TNA fans. |
Hulk Hogan: Hey Dixie, Half Pint Brawlers didnt work, nobody cared about Hulk Hogan's Micro Championship Wrestling, lets go do something wrestling related in India, brother!

Also known as "4 middle-aged fat guys"

I just loved his King of the Ring run and in the Nation, but him and his gang wasn't exactly Mexicool

To be fair, they were 321712398031 times more entertaining than DOA. The feud was horrible though.

it sounds like stiener got over well as a heel over there, i hope we get to see that show over here.
|
You can't just reverse a phrase and add "ka" in between. Here, "ka" essentially means 's. So Ring Ka King would be Ring's King.
|
Better than King's Ring, I guess.

Not used to hearing wrestling fans cheering when people are speaking foreign languages on the microphone.

I'm definitely going to give this a watch when I get the chance. From the recap I read, Chris Masters' "American Adonis" character sounds amazing. It's pretty much his Masterpiece shtick, but now Masters is actually good and the idea of him being so pro-American in India sounds like a gold mine.
|
lolll Eugene with a Dr. Dinsmore gimmick.
|
Alright, back to my running commentary.
Sonjay Dutt looking mad bald and creepy. Has his TNA theme which I always liked. |
Their world title looks like garbage. Which is a shame because thus far I am really digging the set and production values otherwise.
|
Oh look, Jeremy Borash is here to speak English to me.
|
Referees with the nice lime green shirt going on
|
First actual match entire lackluster, and this dude's finisher seems to be a spinebuster (not a good looking Double-A one either).
|
American Adonis with the Adonis Lock Challenge! Vintage WWE!
|
Matt Morgan/Brutus Magnus main event. Fans are eating everything up.
They weren't silent once during the entire show. |
I don't know whether I love or hate the Dr. Nicholas Dinsmore character. Dinsmore seems to be walking a line between creepy and cheesy, and I kind of wish it was more of the former than the latter, but whatever.
Sonjay Dutt has me interesting. He's a size disadvantage to pretty much everybody, but he's ready to get in the face of Matt Morgan. There's an endearing character to his creepy-looking character. Truth be told -- a lot of the guys didn't really impress me as far as in-ring work goes, but given that they were working in front of an unusually hot crowd, I think that worked against them. There was too much pandering to them, but as they get used to performing there, they'll start to churn out more fluid stuff, I think. American Adonis has me interested. He plays the heel character with just enough of a wink. I don't know why he's not in the tournament, but whatever. As far as the alliance between Scott Steiner, Sir Brutus Magnus and Sonjay Dutt goes -- they seem to be talking to someone called "boss." It would not surprise me if this turns out to be Jeff Jarrett, but it certainly causes enough episodic interest. Overall, I'd say the project has got potential. They have great production -- they just need to find their feet and settle the performers into roles. |
The crowd has been worked well. It's not a largely wrestling fan crowd. Most of the people were brought in by the production house, and have been told to cheer wildly. Sadly, this event wasn't advertised or publicized at all.
|
iMPACT WRESTLING: Now available in a tangy Brown Sauce.
Also, even in a brand new promotion with some brand new talent: Matt Morgan is still the most green thing on screen. |
What I got out of watching this: if Veera isn't the winner of the tournament/title, he's going to be the babyface that chases it. It seems like they're setting up to push that guy as "the man".
Also, Chavo's theme is arguably better than anything else he's had. My personal feelings about seeing Chris Masters in any ring ever again aside, the least someone could have done was to cover up all the "M"s on his trunks and boots. Or at least style it to look like "AA" |
I think it's semi sad that this show was 10 times better than Impact this week. I understand half of what is being said but it still was a much more entertaining show. It's sad that you take Hogan, Bischoff and Flair out of the show and it gets that much better
Side note, whos the big Indian guy that seperates Matt Morgan and Steiner and that demented looking bald guy he came out with? |

For you see, in North America, when someone talks a language other than English for more than a sentence they get incredibly booed. Hence my jest saying that it was weird hearing cheers when people were speaking in foreign (to the North American perspective, ie. Not English) language. |
Quote:
|
Booo that foreign guy because he speaks in the same language that we speak in everyday.
|
No. See. From the perspective of a dude in North America. We do not speak Indian everyday. So if a wrestler in North America was talking in Indian, he would get booed by the North American fans.
But in India, where they naturally understand what is being said, they do not get booed just for speaking the language. Thus my statement. Seeing someone speak Indian on the mic and not automatically getting booed is the opposite of what normally happens from my North American perspective. I am not talking about the English parts at all. |
Lock Jaw, first off, its Hindi. Not Indian. That being said, i completely understand your sentiments.
|
My thoughts on the first show...
Pros: Scott Steiner - How f'n funny is this guy? Just let him talk, just let him talk Production - Look's f'n great, probably one of my favorite sets any non WWE show has had other than some choice WCW stuff Ring Girls - Sure it's proven that over half of them half STD's but so what, there are so many girls dancing at all times it can't be that bad Music - From what I could tell the ring music for entrances was awesome, and much better than TNA Magnus - Dude obviously "gets it" and deserves a chance to shine Bollywood - whatever I liked it Lots of Random Indian guys - It's cool to see new talent Cons: Lot's of Random Indian guys - The one guy the put in the semi's is a floppy hand failure Bad Wrestling - The matches were really basic and boring, nothing new here for me The Title - what... the... fuck? Too much talk in a language I don't understand - Or was something wrong with my tv? TNA Edits - At least every five seconds we cut the shot, it's annoying to my eyes, and some have reported it as "headache inducing" No Women Rasslers - with all the sluts at ringside why not some split tail scissoring a figure four in the ring? Just some random thoughts from an American |
Oh yeah and CON - Matt Morgan ... please someone have the balls to tell this guy he sucks on the mic, he's horrible... just ehhh frustrating
|
Fragile X, this series is meant only for the Indian market. Hence the foreign language. If we weren't living in a globalized world, connected to each other thanks to the world wide web, you wouldn't have even been able to see the show so instantaneously.

thoughts watching episode 2:
ok - deadly danda is rolento out of street fighter alpha 3 isnt he? they seemed to be hyping maxx b a lot - that match with steiner just killed any good that did right there. hilarity insues over an american using a camel clutch as a finisher in an indian wrestling show without a hint of irony. the mumbai cats? what in the fuck? and is that other sheik hassan? bollywood boys look vaguely entertaining - similar to milk roulette - where you cant tell if its off or not until you've actually poured it into your tea. im guessing this Veera bloke is supposed to be the big hometown hero type nice to see dutt back on my tv without that crappy "guru" shite going on - that was abismal y'know what would be really helpful? if someone could do a little bit of a translation thing and whack some accurate CC subtitles on there for us single tongued plebs cracking match this with dutt and chavo... aww dammit they did a pn news and started playing his music before the 3 count, what? i swear if "boss" is jeff jarret im going to be so pissed off... |

Ring Ka King
So I watched the first episode of this "New" TNA promotion and to my "surprise" it sucked. Its just TNA with WWE rejects and indian people. woooo thy got Chavo, Masters, Luke Gallows. The champs were predictable and the tourne was lame and short... giggity.... so let me know what you think about it.
|
We already did.

dude I posted this thread why is it under your name noid?
|
oh nvm
|
im just failing like before....

Harbhajan Singh.
:D |
Harbhajan is embarrassing and should never speak again.
|
I thought that Impact this week wasn't that bad. The crowd was really into the Magnus Joe and Austin Aries matches. The knockout match was decient and the Roode matches were ok (the whole Hogan return was completely expected)
