2011 The Rock sucks (and doesn't draw either apparently)
 

WWE has released a preliminary Survivor Series PPV figure of 280,000 total buys. The buy total for The Rock's big return match teaming with John Cena will likely grow by the time WWE reports fourth quarter earnings result, as the preliminary total is only through the end of November. From PWTorch

Last year did 240,000 buys. So The Rock's first match in 7 years only did an increase of 40,000 buys. MITB this year did an increase of 30,000 buys so is CM Punk 75% the draw Rock is? WTF.

This is disappointing as fuck because to me 2011 Rock sucks. And that is really shitty because The Rock used to be fucking sweet and easily one of the best professional sports entertainer wrestler people of all time.

I've been feeling this since the second time I watched Rock's comeback promo on February 14, 2011. It wasn't that good. He said some stupid ass shit (never leaving again) and he didn't bring anything new to the table.

- The Rock's has not cut a single good live promo in 2011. By good, I am talking about Rock standards. He isn't Daniel Bryan or Zack Ryder bad but that is literally impossible. The only promo I actually enjoyed was that one he did on Facebook where he is outside and talks about the Attitude Era and explains the HUGE mistake that was the "never leaving again" line.

- He was awful at Wrestlemania 27 apart from the Austin confrontation. He honestly ruined the main event.

- He looks like a roided freak

- He looks like Goldberg with that stupid goatee

- He just yells now and doesn't soothe us with the best trash talk you can get like he used to

- He always looks UNNECESSARILY INTENSE AND CONFUSED. What the fuck happened to Rock's brilliant facial expressions? He doesn't look cocky and cool anymore at all. He just looks really confused, lost and like he is taking a shit.

- He lost his charm man. He isn't as big of a draw as made out to be. I wonder how much of WM 27 buyrate was Rock's doing now but I still suspect the majority of that increase was 100% Rock.

- He seems like a bit of an arrogant jerk compared to the past if CM Punk's constant bitching is true

- He hasn't really changed up his promos that much which is disappointing as I thought he'd reinvent himself a little. And on top of that he doesn't deliver the promos the way he used to so they suck now

- The only good thing seems to be that he improved in-ring if Survivor Series is a taste of things to come. He busted out some sweet moves but it's hard to know for sure since he only wrestled like two minutes.

Is it because The Rock does not care? I think it is because he hasn't reinvented himself at all which is a shame. Imagine if he did, this could have been like Jericho's 2007-2010 run (although part time but who cares).

Rock just gets a positive reaction no matter what he does so he doesn't push himself further (similar to WWE in general in a way)

Well he did face Batista although not in a one on one match. He lost the match (3 on 2) but during their time in the ring Rock was more in control. Now 2007 Batista vs 2000 Rock? Who knows.

In a match or during a promo? Matchwise 2011 Rock hints at being a better wrestler from what we saw at Survivor Series but a couple cool moves won't make up for age and ring psychology rust.

It was cool when he sang "New York, New York" at Survivor Series.

When he wasted a bunch of time at WrestleMania on awful, long, boring promos, forgettable backstage segments and then ruining the main event... not so cool.

I think fans are just getting tired of the Rock's persona. IMO, a heel turn would really freshen things up.

The way I see it, he should come out next week on Raw and tell everyone he has a big surprise that he will reveal at the Royal Rumble. Then sometime at the Royal Rumble, possibly during the Rumble itself, Rock comes out to reveal his big surprise. But to everyone's shock, that surprise is that the Rock has snapped and just beats the crap out of everyone.

Then they could repackage the Rock as a badass submission machine who doesn't take shit from anybody.

I don't think Rock or Cena will be turning heel prior to Wrestlemania 28. But afterwards that could be a good idea. What would make it even better was if Rock does everything you said about the big surprise but then shows up via satellite and has some thugs attack everyone for him. He could also debut as Hollywood Rock 2.0 or a vending machine.

It might also be possible that since he's broadened his horizons, he more or less "forgot" how to be The Rock. I mean that he hasn't played that role for so long, that it's not second nature anymore.

John Cena always needs the belt so he can scream "THE CHAMP IS HERE!" His most famous catchphrase is about how he is a championship hog. Even after putting CM Punk over he was the champ like two weeks later. After CM Punk secured the title he was like "Well I need the WWE title now" so I can make my match with Rock so much better."

The Rock has reached Legends status so he would not be booed now unless he was turned heel. Look at Trips, HBK, Taker, Jericho, etc who are now legends and would not have been booed nowadays unless they were meant to be booed.
