When asked on his Twitter about whether or not he thinks Dolph Ziggler or Cody Rhodes will be a World Champion in 2012, Jim Ross replied with "If not, they both should quit."

Because of this, Jim Ross will be invited to appear at an upcoming RAW, and be humiliated somehow (yet again).

Ziggler I think is ready, but Cody has a little bit more to go. Ziggler in 2012, Cody in 2013.

I firmly believe that Ziggler will win the MITB in 2012.

Ziggler was ready yesterday. Technically he's already been a World Champion, though.

I don't think he comes off as bitter as much as he comes off as disappointed with the product.

If Daniel Bryan is ready, Cody Rhodes is ready.

If both stay on the same brand and stay as a heel, Cody Rhodes has the better shot of becoming a world champion in 2012 and doing it before Ziggler.

Raw seems a bit too packed in heels for the WWE title level right now, especially with Kane's return as a heel. Rhodes is arguably the #2 heel after Henry on Smackdown.

Although I wouldn't be as shocked if Ziggler won the Rumble or MitB case.

I love when people call wrestlers and other wrestling personalities assholes and such in this age.

I disagree. Both should get the shot sooner than later. Yes, DZ is on fire right now, but I think waiting too long on Cody (who by the way, everyone thought he and DiBiase would be in each other's place by now ever since Cody turned on Baldcore Holly.*) would have the same detriment as they had with someone like Christian. Especially true if they wait a whole 'nother freakin' year to elevate him.





*Don't deny it, people. I'm in that boat too. I saw the spark when he started the Dashing gimmick, but before that... yeah. Bland.

WWE should set up a babyface chase for one of their World titles going into Mania, and I think it'll be with Punk. I could see him losing the championship to Ziggler at the Rumble and being the challenger.

This is far form a pipe bomb. I'm sure many fans feel the same way about Ziggler getting a legit run. Maybe Cody needs some more polish, but he's still damn good, great even.

Maybe JR is beginning to prepare us for another heel run, where he'll also bring back Fake Razor and Fake Diesel.

JR needs to turn into a badass, no nonsense submission machine.

I just don't feel Cody's main event material just yet. He's still coming into his own and is being built nicely. Most guys shouldn't have the trigger pulled until they're well established. That's something people now have seemed to forgot. If someone gets hot and doesn't get the title people just assume that WWE is shitting on them and "wasting an opportunity". Don't get me wrong, I believe they've waited way too long on some guys, but Cody is no where near that point and could use more build.

There's nothing wrong with waiting a while if it's built up well. I'd been saying that Dolph shouldn't get it until 2013 even, but I think he's stepped up to that next level. It can happen with Cody, but I don't have a problem with waiting on it and would prefer it at this point.

Plus waiting on it spreads out the ascent of stars, which at this point is fine. It'd be a different story if this were two years ago, but WWE has enough fresh blood in the main event that they don't have to rush a lot of pushes right now.

I agree. Look back at Jericho's basically 2 year WWF title build. People were going bat shit crazy for him and wanting him to get a WWF title shot in early 2000 (although some of it was due to the great heel work of HHH) and they teased the hell out of it off and on through 2000, even unofficially giving him the title of RAW and then taking it away via reverse decision. They mainly involved him in other feuds/storylines and title hunts though through 2000-01, until finally giving him the title over Austin and Rock in December 2001. Now that's how you build a new world champion.

His final obstacle was John Cena, though. He wasn't a main eventer after beating Goldust. Only 17 people even remember that feud.

If Goldust picked up his gimmick circa 1995, when he first came in and had that feud with Razor Ramon, where he was all weird and almost homoerotic, he could easily become a main eventer and Champion, even in 2012.

Imagine him sending "love letters" to Randy Orton, John Cena or CM Punk, trying to psych them out.

I wouldn't mind that, but that doesn't change his current position whatsoever.

JR should have an over-the-top, overzealous footbal coach style gimmick. Pair him with Alex Riley and/or Swagger. Should make a nice gimmick for the tag division.

TBF, I think a Cody/Goldust fued could be $$$ if they made it extremely personal with Cody taking his (half) brother out of the game entirely.

The story would be what carried a Cody/Goldust feud. That Cody would be willing to permanently destroy his older brother to immortalise his legacy defines his character as willing to do anything to be a World Champion and future Hall of Famer. Also, Goldust is over. He has been nowhere near the main event recently, but he's definitely over.

If the WWE holds a King of the Ring next year, then I think either Dolph or Cody would be perfect choices to win it.
