Official WWE Hall of Fame 2012 Discussion

This is the official WWE Hall of Fame 2012 discussion thread. Discuss who you hope to be in it, who has been announced and anything else pertaining to the HOF.

Xero 01-08-2012 10:55 AM

Mainly posted this because I found the following news, but I figure they should start to announce them in a few weeks anyway.

From PWInsider:

WWE will put tickets on sale for the 3/31 Hall of Fame ceremony at the American Airlines Arena will go on sale this coming Saturday 1/14. Tickets will range $93.65 down to $41.40, including Ticketmaster charges.

There will be an online pre-sale on Thursday 1/12. We have not yet heard the password for the pre-sale.

WWE using a scaled down Arena would indicate they are planning to induct a major name. The only time they have used larger Arenas for their Hall of Fame inductions were for the HOF Classes headed by Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair.

Attitude99 01-08-2012 11:01 AM

Like every Year, Randy Savage and Owen Hart.

Xero 01-08-2012 11:09 AM

I wonder if this will be carried on USA or if it'll debut on the WWE Network.

whiteyford 01-08-2012 11:36 AM

Wasn't there talk of Carlos Colon? That might have been from him though.

Evil Vito 01-08-2012 11:43 AM

Yeah, Colon is rumored to be going in. Wonder if they'll bring Carlito back to help induct him along with Primo and Epico.

Evil Vito 01-08-2012 11:45 AM

Savage is definitely going in, it's just a shame that he won't be there to make a speech. Even though he should have been in ages ago, if he hadn't passed away he probably wouldn't be going in this year.

Owen Hart is never going in because Martha pretty much threatens to sue WWE into the stone age any time he's even mentioned on WWE programming.

whiteyford 01-08-2012 11:48 AM

Edge maybe too i think, might be a little soon though. Savage is probably a safe bet as well. Can't think of any big names from Miami though.

Triple Naitch 01-08-2012 11:54 AM

The Rock isn't in yet, right? He's the only big name I can think of that could help fill an arena.

whiteyford 01-08-2012 11:57 AM

I knew i forgot someone :-\

Theo Dious 01-08-2012 11:58 AM

I know that Lanny Poffo is really adamant that his father and brother should both be inducted. Personally it would be nice to have all 3 of them go in. If Koko B Ware belongs in the HOF, so does the Genius.

Edge should go in the next time Wrestlemania is in Canada.

Triple Naitch 01-08-2012 12:05 PM

I think Toronto is supposedly next year.

whiteyford 01-08-2012 12:09 PM

Wouldnt be shocked at Booker T either.

Wake Up Call 01-08-2012 12:26 PM

Not sure what is more irrelevant, the WWE HOF, or the negative reps I get from Juan everyday. If I had to pick one, I would say the WWE HOF.

This guy knows

#1-norm-fan 01-08-2012 01:20 PM

Yeah, if there's a big name expected based on the arena and it's in Rock's hometown. it almost seems inevitable.

Cena should fuck up his induction somehow as well.

Nicky Fives 01-08-2012 06:09 PM

Savage will be in for sure......

Lock Jaw 01-08-2012 06:10 PM

It be Sting.

#BROKEN Hasney 01-08-2012 06:10 PM

Hopefully Sin Cara. He had such a prominent career. RIP.

SlickyTrickyDamon 01-08-2012 06:22 PM

What about Jerry Jarrett? Think Vince's heat with Jeff will carry over to Jerry? Jerry did make a visit to WWE a few years ago touting Vladmir Kozlov.

#1-norm-fan 01-08-2012 07:00 PM

Jerry Jarrett and Vince are supposed to be really good friends. It would be odd though for the co-founder of TNA to be inducted into the WWE HOF.

FourFifty 01-08-2012 09:41 PM

As per every year- Randy Savage, Owen Hart, Haystacks Calhoun

JKWJRMON 01-08-2012 10:47 PM

It'll be Savage, or Edge as the headliner.

JKWJRMON 01-08-2012 10:48 PM

Totally agree with your Savage comments.

James Steele 01-09-2012 01:07 AM

Triple H should be inducted.

James Steele 01-09-2012 01:15 AM

In all seriousness, a class headlined by Mick Foley and Randy Savage would be awesome.

I'd like to see this as the class (Hell, I'd pay to see the unedited induction ceremony):

Mick Foley (Inducted by Terry Funk)
Randy Savage (Inducted by Lanny Poffo)
Miss Elizabeth (Inducted by Gene Okurland)*
Arn Anderson (Inducted by Ole Anderson)
Tully Blanchard (Inducted by JJ Dillon)
Paul Heyman (Inducted by Stone Cold Steve Austin)

*No clue who would accept award on their behalf

Seth82 01-09-2012 10:10 AM

since they'll be in Florida

what about Kevin Sullivan

Only problem with your class is inducting two big names on the same year. They're running out of top bill guys to have outside of the Rock and Edge.

Xero 01-09-2012 10:40 AM

I almost feel that Foley can't support a HOF on his own. Granted, he shouldn't be put in with someone like Savage, but he needs a strong B-level name to go in with. Heyman would absolutely work in that situation.

As for who inducts/accepts for Savage and Liz, like it was said earlier, the whole Poffo family will probably be put in, and I could see Lanny inducting as well as accepting, or maybe do it like they did with Eddie and have multiple people talk about/induct them, specifically Randy.

Cuse8 01-09-2012 11:19 AM

demolition

XCaliber 01-09-2012 12:16 PM

I'd say any of the legends that were in WWE 12 (dlc included) that haven't been inducted already pretty much are all safe bets.

Nicky Fives 01-09-2012 12:21 PM

If the rumours are true, and Toronto will be hosting Wrestlemania next year, then it would make absolutely no sense to induct Edge this year.....

Xero 01-09-2012 12:57 PM

Vader needs to be inducted. As does Jim Johnston.

Cuse8 01-09-2012 01:14 PM

agreed

whiteyford 01-09-2012 01:45 PM

Didnt his son just sign a developmental deal?

Lock Jaw 01-09-2012 02:23 PM

Frankie? Thought he was a gentle soul and a poet.

Corndad 01-09-2012 02:46 PM

My yearly Pete Rose and Drew Carey are in, why is Mr. T. not in yet post.

Xero 01-09-2012 02:57 PM

Because he's pissed that he wasn't the first celebrity to go in.

#1-norm-fan 01-09-2012 03:05 PM

Dick Ebersol is likely going in this year as well.

Corndad 01-09-2012 03:05 PM

I would be if I were him to. I mean the guy Main Evented 2 Manias.

I would have said Lawrence Taylor would go in soon but he had those legal issues in the past year or so. My guess would be they are gonna hold off on him till Mania is in New York again.

Xero 01-09-2012 03:09 PM

Bam Bam Bigelow is a name I never see come up in HOF discussions, but he absolutely deserves it. He was one of the best big men out there.

whiteyford 01-09-2012 03:18 PM

Wasnt there heat between Bigelow and the Kliq? Dunno if that would be enough to keep him out but he deserves to be in the HOF for sure.

#1-norm-fan 01-09-2012 03:21 PM

Some names that should go in that haven't been mentioned...

Rick Rude
Ron Simmons
Booker T
Brian Pillman
Andy Kaufman
Bob Backlund
Lou Thesz
Jake Roberts
The Fabulous Freebirds
The Rock 'n' Roll Express
The Midnight Express

#1-norm-fan 01-09-2012 03:22 PM

Kaufman should have gone in when WM was in LA 7 years ago.

Mr Amazing 01-09-2012 03:42 PM

edge (inducted by christian)
the rock (inducted by mick foley)
owen hart( inducted by bret hart)
chris benoit (inducted by chris jericho)

arn anderson as part of a tag team with either ole anderson or tully blanchard
randy savage
miss elizabeth

Benoit? You do know he's a murderer right? Just checking.

Ole will never be in he HOF either since he hates Vince.

Tully and Arn should be inducted but I heard Arn wants to wait for Flair to be available. I don't think Flair is in any position to ask TNA for a one-day trip to the Hall of Fame to appear on a TV broadcast.

Xero 01-09-2012 04:47 PM

Didn't stop him last year...

Xero 01-09-2012 09:35 PM

Edge has been announced, and another will be announced later tonight.

Xero 01-09-2012 10:30 PM

The Four Horsemen as the next to be announced.

Lock Jaw 01-09-2012 11:22 PM

Does Ric Flair get a second ring?

Xero 01-09-2012 11:25 PM

I'd hope not, because then they'd have a third one to play around with in TNA storylines.

Emperor Smeat 01-09-2012 11:31 PM

Wouldn't be surprised if he does get another ring since only basketball inducts teams into their hall.

Does he even still have the first ring considering how bad he is with money and sold a bunch of stuff from the divorces?

Xero 01-09-2012 11:33 PM

I know he sold one of the original NWA titles twice. Wouldn't surprise me if he lost it to Highspots or something.

Lock Jaw 01-09-2012 11:39 PM

Didn't he lose it to Jay Lethal in a match?!

KayfabeMan 01-09-2012 11:46 PM

So how is this Flair thing gonna work?

He's gonna show up while under contract to TNA?

Lock Jaw 01-09-2012 11:50 PM

He did last year.

KayfabeMan 01-09-2012 11:54 PM

I haven't watched in so long I have no idea. Thanks :y:

Xero 01-09-2012 11:56 PM

Well he showed up in a video on WWE.com giving Shawn something. He didn't show up at the ceramony itself.

But TNA would probably not stop him. He's probably allowed to work anywhere he wants on his contract anyway.

Lock Jaw 01-10-2012 12:02 AM

Wasn't he in the audience at least?

Xero 01-10-2012 12:03 AM

Yeah I'm pretty sure he was, but he wasn't on camera.

Droford 01-10-2012 02:06 AM

If the Horsemen get in, I wonder if they'll go ahead and put the nWo in at some point as a way to get Scott Hall and Kevin Nash in along with Hogan..

Also, if they put the Rock in over Macho I'll be really pissed off.

James Steele 01-10-2012 02:13 AM

I'm honestly shocked Edge is going in this year.

With all the people who are already in over Savage, The Rock is the one that would piss you off?

I was expecting it until Nicky fivess pointed out that its in Toronto next year, seemed like the ideal place to induct him really.

Rammsteinmad 01-10-2012 08:32 AM

Yeah, Edge is quite a shock to be honest. I get that he retired etc, but he's still fairly young. There's a lot of people who have been long-deserving, and have had more of an impact than he has, who aren't in yet (ie. Hall and Nash, who pretty much revolutionized Wrestling in the 90's).

Not complaining though, he definitely deserves it, just surprised he's going in already... even before The Undertaker!!!

SlickyTrickyDamon 01-10-2012 09:14 AM

Macho isn't going in unless WWE gives in and inducts his entire family. The Genius said they all made a pact father and his two says.

Xero 01-10-2012 09:49 AM

Since Edge is going in this year, maybe this year is Taker's last hoo-rah and he'll be headlining next year.

agreed they all deserve to be inducted

along with the following names

Kevin Sullivan - Dusty Rhodes inducts him
Wahoo Mcdaniel - Greg Valentine inducts him
Tony Garea
Manager Skandor Akbar - Kevin Von Erich inducts him
Vader - Sting inducts him
Sting - Ric Flair inducts him
Ray Stevens - Nick Bockwinkel inducts him

Seth82 01-10-2012 11:42 AM

I'm ticked WWE isn't including Ole Anderson as apart of the induction of the 4 Horsemen

everyone knows the 4 Horsemen didn't start during the Windham era

Ole deserves to be in the HOF

yeah that will be strange, maby the ice broke with the tna vince fued slowed down, if we see sting go into the hall next week we will know.

Lock Jaw 01-10-2012 01:15 PM

I concur with Seth.

Weird that they are not putting Ole Anderson in, and instead skipped to Barry Windham.

CSL 01-10-2012 01:24 PM

Ole is a dick, nobody likes him

Lock Jaw 01-10-2012 01:25 PM

I guess.

But Mongo should definitely be going in. Everybody loved Mongo.

erickman 01-10-2012 01:31 PM

they won't even talk about benoit

FourFifty 01-10-2012 01:34 PM

They could have held off on Edge for a year. Next year they're in Canada, right? It could have become a better home town crowd for Edge.

As of the Horsemen, mixed emotions on this one. If WWE has some agreement with Ric Flair that he won't work for TNA two months before Mania and two months after Mania, cool. However I'm sure TNA would milk the fact that Ric Flair makes Hall of Fame stars, etc etc.

Lock Jaw 01-10-2012 01:37 PM

It hasn't been confirmed at all that next year is in Toronto.

Just a rumor. Like it has been rumored for the past few years to be in Toronto.

Perhaps putting Edge in this year is a sign that it is again not going to be in Toronto next year.

erickman 01-10-2012 01:46 PM

guess that shows who the best wrestler ever is ric gets in the hall twice, the eric clapton of wrestling. you know tna will use him getting in the hall again, i kind of wish he brings gunner and maby abyss with him and have a mini invasion.

Lock Jaw 01-10-2012 01:49 PM

Abyss can bring balloons again.

now why on earth would they do that?

Because TNA will never pose a serious threat to WWE. Why in the hell did WWE do that ECW invasion back in the 90s?

CSL 01-10-2012 04:42 PM

because ECW were "cutting edge" and on decent terms with Heyman. They have jack shit to gain from TNA and a HOF invasion schtick is beyond absurd.

MoFo 01-10-2012 05:47 PM

Rumours that Yokozuna is the nxt inductee.

Source - mofofakewrestlingnews.com and the usual credible dirt sheets.

Triple Naitch 01-10-2012 06:07 PM

Weren't Arn and Ole Anderson already inducted together?

Yes...It is well-deserved.

Flash Funk 01-10-2012 08:30 PM

Yokozuna would be well overdue

James Steele 01-11-2012 04:06 PM

Terry Funk should have gotten his own fucking induction. He is the lesser known face on wrestling's Mt. Rushmore.

Xero 01-12-2012 09:28 PM

From PWInsider:

Lanny Poffo was on the new podcast hosted by Steve Wilton, who is the webmaster for a number of wrestler's websites, including Poffo's.

When the topic of Lanny's brother, Randy Savage being inducted this year into the WWE Hall of Fame, Poffo noted that he didn't heard from WWE when Savage passed away and has not heard from them regarding a potential WWE Hall of Fame induction for the former WWF champion.

#1-norm-fan 01-12-2012 10:05 PM

Yeah, I think we can forget about Savage for this year's HOF.

#1-norm-fan 01-12-2012 10:06 PM

Ooh, I just thought of a name I haven't heard mentioned that belongs in... The New Age Outlaws.

Emperor Smeat 01-12-2012 11:00 PM

:-\ Macho would be great as the headliner for this year's class.

Really felt this would have been the year for him after last year he proclaimed the Year of the Macho when hyping up the WWE All-Stars game. Figured it would carry over to this year since last year's Hall members were already set when he made the commercial for the game.

He also managed to stop the so called Rapture from happening and if that doesn't make him a lock then nothing will. :shifty:

CSL 01-12-2012 11:06 PM

dunno about headliner, bit hard for him to make a speech/close the show atm

Emperor Smeat 01-12-2012 11:09 PM

Well obviously not in terms of making a speech considering he's passed away but in terms of naming power, he would probably be the headliner unless the WWE would have decided to use up 2 big names like The Rock or if they manage to get Flair to speak again for the Four Horsemen.

Then again, a long tribute video about the Macho Man could be as good as a speech to close out the show.

St. Jimmy 01-12-2012 11:15 PM

Say what you want, Edge getting in before Savage is fucking stupid.

he absolutely would have been a headliner had he gone in whilst alive, just don't really see that happening now

of course, not like Edge is fresh off retirement/beloved/still fresh in people's minds/over/worthy of the spot or anything like that, if he goes in before a guy who clearly had something "getting in the way" of a relationship with WWE and is now dead to boot, it's fucking stupid

Lock Jaw 01-12-2012 11:49 PM

All it means is they get to use the "draw" of Savage in another year.

While capitalizing on the freshness of Edge this year.

Just business.
