Official WrestleMania Card Thread
Let's discuss the matches for the biggest card of the year, both confirmed and rumored.
Official: John Cena vs. The Rock Rumored: Chris Jericho vs. CM Punk (WWE Championship) Undertaker vs. HHH Shaq vs. Big Show What other matches could you see? What about the WHC? Personally, I could see a Sheamus-Kane match. |
Kane/Taker?
Taker returns to put an end to Kane's path of destruction. |
Kane vs Mysterio for the mask record Vince wanted to set with Mysterio and Sin Cara.
I also wouldn't mind seeing Henry win the title back and defend it against Orton with the history of Orton just not being able to beat him. |
Also, Brodus Clay vs Alberto del Rio. Student vs Teacher.
|
Orton v Barrett for the WHC.

kelly kelly vs beth

I hope they bring back MITB as was rumoured a couple of weeks ago. So much talent will be left off the card if they don't.
|

cody, ryder, ziggler, kofi, swagger, bourne, hunico to name a few |
If they bring back MITB, they need to cancel the MITB PPV. It's too much.
|
However, if something should happen where the World Title becomes vacant, an 8 or 10 man ladder match for the title would be pretty awesome.
Or just make it for the IC Title to piss off Cody Rhodes. |
Also I'm not too fond on all these big names and returning wrestlers this year. The Rock is pretty much a fucking megastar right now. In terms of celebrity name value, he should be enough. He's a mainstream superstar, and he'll bring in the wrestling fans.
Guys like Shaq O'Neil (is he even still relevant anymore?), Goldust potentially retuning to face Cody, and rumours of Ryder facing 'the situation'... who/whatever the fuck that is... basically results in more instances of Daniel Bryan and Sheamus being bumped off the card, Wade Barrett and the Corre and Kofi Kingston/Kane etc being in a one-minute squash, and John Morrison and Dolph Ziggler spending approximately two minutes in the ring. WWE has a fucking amazing roster right now. I know not everyone can get a spot at Wrestlemania, and I understand WWE using celebrities to make it more of a cultural event than just a wrestling PPV, but dammit I don't want to see so many awesome talents lose their place at the 'Grandaddy of the All' for a celebrity no one cares about (I think). |
|
Tyson Kidd vs Tyson Tomko with special ref Mike Tyson. Also something featuring Bushwhacker Luke. Wooooooo!
|
Save some wackiness for the rest of us!
|
This is the best I could think of while trying to include everyone...
Main Event John Cena vs The Rock WWE Title Match Chris Jericho vs CM Punk (c) World Heavyweight Title Ladder Match Daniel Bryan (c) vs Randy Orton vs Wade Barrett vs Mark Henry vs Sheamus vs Christian vs Cody Rhodes vs Justin Gabriel Streak vs Career, Guest Referee: Shawn Michaels The Undertaker vs Triple H Falls Count Anywhere Match The Miz vs R-Truth Special Attraction The Big Show vs Shaquille O'Neal US Title Match Kane vs Zack Ryder (c) 2 Out of 3 Falls Dolph Ziggler vs Rey Mysterio Teacher vs Student Alberto del Rio vs "The Funkasaurus" Brodus Clay WWE Divas Title Match Beth Phoenix (c) vs Layla Pre-show 28 Man Battle Royal Drew McIntyre, Santino, Heath Slater, Ted DiBiase, Jinder Mahal, Kofi Kingston, Evan Bourne, Primo, Epico, Hunico, Camacho, Ezekiel Jackson, Yoshi Tatsu, JTG, Tyson Kidd, Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso, Tyler Reks, Curt Hawkins, Jack Swagger, Mason Ryan, Alex Riley, Hornswoggle, Johnny Curtis, Trent Barreta, David Otunga, Michael McGillicuty, William Regal |
I am really not too keen on seeing HHH versus Undertaker again but I suppose in storyline it would make sense and bring finality to the feud. Especially considering HHH's comments a couple weeks back in reference to leaving the Undertaker laying and indisposed for a year.
|
I don't care to see it again either but at this point, there's not really any better options.

yeah hhh vs taker sadly will happen i think. Too bad but I guess it could be a good match if they do something different.
If they didnt overuse the HIAC PPV they could have done that for the first time. The two big HIAC guys HHH vs Taker - first time - streak vs career. would have been so big but I think they should let Taker rest til WM 29 and do Taker/Cena next year. Rock/Cena can carry this card, 2nd or 3rd biggest match in wrestling history. Taker should be the focus if he will be going 20-0 or retiring. I say do it next year. No chance Austin/Punk happens cause Austin knows it aint worth it and Punk has been going downhill fast |

8 is too much, gets too messy look at the 8 man MITB. would you want to see a 50 man royal rumble? also why is a guy like justin gabriel in a main event at WM 28?
|
The Smackdown MITB match last year was fucking fantastic. What the hell are you talking about? And you know who was in that match? Daniel Bryan, Cody Rhodes, Justin Gabriel, Sheamus and Wade Barrett...
|
I thought it was too messy works better with 6. Remember WM 21 so much better storytelling. anyway even so it could slide for MITB PPV c-show but the #1 show wrestlemania and for the SD Title? Come on if you dont admit that match is a terrible idea and Vince would never do it then I think you make R-Truth look sane
|
Who said Vince would do it?
And last year's SD main event opened the show. Why? Because there were other Main Events where one on one feuds could take center stage. You still haven't explained why it would be so terrible outside you think it would be a mess, which again, you're in the minority of thinking SD's MITB ladder match was not good. |
Because those guys are not ready for a Wrestlemania world title match. Justin Gabriel is a jobber in January 2012 why is he in a main event of the biggest ppv in history three months later? how would this logically come about storyline wise? what would happen at Elimination chamber that would lead to this 8 man ladder match, it just makes no sense, is completely messy and has guys who have no business in this spot in there. what would the build up be? are you trolling me
|
If it does come to HHH vs. 'Taker with HBK as guest ref, I can see Shawn costing HHH the match.

they should just hold off on Taker. They dont need him this year. Rock/Cena is big enough. Do Taker/Cena next year.
Rock/Cena Punk/Jericho For Smackdown maybe heel Bryan/Orton with momentum coming back from injury I would love to see HHH face Barrett or Ziggler. Would be big for them if he put them over |
Quote:
In all honesty, I think the streak should remain intact. As much hate as 'Taker gets from smarks, he's quite possibly, overall, the greatest of all time. He deserves this distinction to set him apart from every one else. |
Quote:
Next? |
Why would they put a cocky heel in such an unfair match when people on RAW have gotten in less trouble for way worse things. And why is a guy like Justin Gabriel invovled.
Not next, horrible explanation. You would be the worst booker ever. The IWC would hate you so would Vince's wallet lol |
And the fact that you've used the word "messy" constantly after I've told you how stupid that theory is after the SD MITB match was widely considered a great match makes me think you're just in "no read, just type" mode.
|
Quote:
But I think most smarks like Taker. at least it seems that way. most ppl seem to like him |
Quote:
And just because a match was good doesnt make it a logical choice for a Wrestlemania main event. your reason is this: - DB is cocky (like 100% of heels) and thus must put his title on the line against seven other people and in a ladder match. who would do this? Teddy long? seems kind of extreme and unlikely thing that he would do - The SD MITB Ladder match was a good match |

Jesus fucking Christ, have you ever watched wrestling before? And what the fuck does what people have gotten in trouble for on Raw have to do with anything, you tool? And Justin Gabriel is involved for the same reason he was involved in the MITB match. Awesome spots. I don't give a fuck where is card placement is now and neither did WWE. He was good for some cool moments and the occasional "OMG the ultimate underdog might do it" moment. |
Or I can see HHH beating 'Taker, only to have the match restart because 'Taker's foot was under the rope or something.
|
Quote:
Key word being such. It is overkill. Of course a face GM would put a heel in an unfair match but what is the reason for putting him in such a ridiculously unfair match? That seems like something a HEEL GM would do to a babyface to make him an underdog and get cheers. And yes the WWE does care about card placement AT Wrestlemania. That is why Daniel Bryan didnt even get to wrestle on the show at WM 27 because a Rock promo is higher on "card placement". Your argument would make sense for a MITB at WM but not for a World Title match. You are making a fool of yourself. |

And you put way too much stock into what the SD World Title match has to be. I'm guessing you just can't fathom anything more than a 1 on 1 or possibly a triple threat. Well, there's a shitload of "main events" for WM and putting on what could be an amazing match like this on top of it is in NO WAY A BAD THING.
|
I doubt 'Taker vs Vince would draw since there isn't really as good of history between the two like there was with Hart or Austin.
|
Not to mention the fact that it gets some big names on the main card.

Jesus Christ I need to write out everyone's specific roll leading up to the match so you can comprehend the exact situation, you fucking idiot?
|
Quote:
And the ladder matches are not that great with 8 people. Do you have a spot fetish? That is all that match is going to be. They cannot pull off a great story other than "WE ALL WANT DA TITLE" but the in ring story telling and psychology will suck and will be nothing more than a spotfest bore which is obviously something you want as you mentioned in another post (the reason a jobber like Gabriel is there). |
No wonder you can't even fucking comprehend what a "segment" is. lol. How dense are you?

I see Bryan losing the title at Elimination Chamber, possibly making the whc match at 'Mania a triple threat.
On a side note, I just got my tickets to the Rumble :) |

Also, one of my favorite 'Mania main events was a triple threat...HHH/HBK/Benoit

Thank you for proving you fail at logic. |
You keep dancing around the main question. You cannot explain how your match is logical in anyway beyond "it'd be fun". Yeah, so would a Royal Rumble at Wrestlemania. Doesn't make it a good idea.
You trollin nigga |
I explained the main fucking build with Bryan. Seriously... look up logic in the dictionary before you ever use it again.
|
And now you've added quoting things I never said to your rep. Genius. I swear you seemed to not be this retarded 30 minutes ago. lol
|
Seriously like 30 minutes ago in another thread I swear I saw you being able to carry on a conversation. If you did that just so you could lure me into a false sense of "non-troll" security to make the upcoming trolling more effective I have to say... genius. Just genius.

Don't make me pull this thread over. I'll do it and spank you both in the middle of the street!

Please do. I want to get out.

Fine, I'll fart and lock the windows.

Icon vs. Icon
John Cena vs. The Rock This one is already confirmed. The twist I would add is that CM Punk sticks his nose into their business constantly, because he believes that he and the WWE Championship should be the main focus of WrestleMania. He particularly takes aim at The Rock. Punk interferes in this match, and helps Cena win with a GTS behind both the referee and Cena's back. WWE Championship CM Punk (c) vs. Chris Jericho Jericho seems like he would be a good pick for the Royal Rumble Winner, but I think Wade Barrett could gain a little more from the victory. Jericho can be the Runner-Up, though, and wins an Elimination Chamber to become the #1 Contender for the WWE Championship. CM Punk and Jericho are locked in for WrestleMania, and there Punk retains the title, really building steam as champion. Triple Threat Match for the World Heavyweight Championship Randy Orton (c) vs. Wade Barrett vs. Daniel Bryan I can't think of anything else that Bryan would be doing at WrestleMania, and it seems to stand that Randy Orton would have a part in the World Heavyweight Title match, given that he's SmackDown!'s biggest and most reliable star. Wade Barrett is getting a push at the moment, as well, so it stands to reason that Barrett and Orton's recent feud could carry onto WrestleMania. So I've just put the three men together, with my story being that Wade Barrett wins the Royal Rumble in Orton's hometown and rubs it in his face. Orton then wins the World Heavyweight Championship in the Elimination Chamber from Daniel Bryan (who enters the match first, so he has something that he can whine about in protest of his loss), who reminds us that he has a scheduled rematch and wants it to be at WrestleMania -- where he will complete the destiny he declared for himself last year -- by becoming World Heavyweight Champion. Special Guest Referee: Shawn Michaels The Undertaker vs. Triple H I went with Stephanie McMahon in another thread, because I thought the story could be captivating; but the same story could really be told with Shawn Michaels. The conflict between two friends, old rivals, etc. Plus, HBK is "The Greatest of All-Time," which makes his presence at any WrestleMania welcome. Special Attraction Big Show vs. Shaquille O'Neal This could be perversely entertaining. Big Show would no doubt put the celebrity over, but there could be some sort of shenanigans here. O'Neal could hire Jack Swagger to be his coach, or something, leading to Swagger getting involved and getting knocked out by Show, but giving Shaq the distraction he needs to beat Show. Great White vs. Big Red Sheamus vs. Kane Sheamus initially turned face by standing up to a force that no one else wanted to face. It would make perfect sense to have his first babyface appearance as something similar. Sheamus can be the challenger to Kane's path of destruction, and end it with a Brogue Kick on the grandest stage of them all. Hardcore Tag Team Match Mick Foley & R-Truth vs. Dolph Ziggler & The Miz I know this seems like a weird match, but there's just so much going on here that squishing two feuds together could make sense. Plus, Foley is getting older and could really use some more workers around him to tell a great story. R-Truth would get more over teaming with Mick Foley, and Dolph Ziggler & The Miz would make an interesting heel unit (it'd at least make Michael Cole very happy -- which would be tremendous for their already great heat). Foley has said that he'd like to work with The Miz, as well. Could be a great star-solidifying match for the two heels here. Random Match Alberto Del Rio vs. Christian Christian & Del Rio are two guys that I assume will be involved with WrestleMania, too. If Rey Mysterio is back in time for Mania, then I guess we could get Del Rio vs. Mysterio, or something, but I say let Rey rest and make sure he is properly healed. Christian seems like a logical choice to induct Edge into the WWE Hall of Fame, and they could use Christian's buddy-buddy relationship with Edge to turn him back into a babyface with something to prove (can he really be a capable World Heavyweight Champion?). A match against his old rival, and someone that could brag about ending Edge's career could set Christian on that path. Somebody's Gonna Get Their Ass Kicked Mark Henry vs. Santino Marella Basically, I figure that Mark Henry has to be on the card somewhere, and I had no clue where else to put him. Henry could have some issues build up with Santino over time, with Marella now featured strongly on SmackDown!. This could be hyped as a match that Marella has no chance of winning, but he still promises that he has a strategy to use against Henry. Basically, Santino's entrance takes longer than this match, and Henry ends it in mere seconds. But then Brodus Clay dances his way out to stand up for Marella, so he doesn't get added to the Hall of Pain. Intercontinental Championship and United States Championship Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Zack Ryder (c) This could be a really good match, plus it would feel like something "special" for the mid-card titles. No, I wouldn't make this a unification match, but one man walking away as both the Intercontinental Champion and United States Champion could really help one of these guys get even more over. Divas Tag Team Match Pin-Up Strong vs. LayCool Layla is apparently close to returning from her injury, and I'm sure Michelle McCool will be at WrestleMania anyway. Why not reform LayCool, since their attitude seems to completely conflict with what Beth Phoenix & Natalya are about? Pre-Show Match for the WWE Tag Team Championship Primo & Epico (c) vs. Kofi Kingston & Justin Gabriel Just a random match pitting a replacement babyface team of Kofi Kingston & Justin Gabriel (African Boom?) against Los Cousins Colon for the WWE Tag Team Titles. They might as well do a switch here, and give people a little bonus when they order the DVD. |
