Great games nobody played but they really need to
Eternal Darkness(GC) and Lost Odyssey(360) are the first two to spring to mind. YOUR TURN.
|
Legend of Dragoon. If you havent played this, you really fucking need to.
|
The Neverhood is one of my all-time favorites and it never caught on. Claymation adventure game by most of Shiny's Earthworm Jim team, and it's fantastic.
|
Gladius for the GC (actually i think this was mutliplatform now that i think about it) also. go buy it so Lucas Arts will make me a sequel.

Fire Pro Wrestling (GBA).
Didn't sell that well but the 2nd one sold even worse which made Spike cancel the entire series in the US until Fire Pro Wrestling Returns on the PS2. That one also sold badly which is why the series doesn't have any more games released here (XBLA version still hasn't shown up). |

Lunar: Silver Star Story, Chrono Cross (Most likely due to Final Fantasy 9 being released around the same time), and Incredible Crisis.
|
Also played Eternal Darkness and LO. Though I need to finish LO one of these days.
|
Gregory Horror Show
|
Deadly Premonition is a phenomenal game.

I always like Legendary Wings for NES. Dont think that was a popular game at all but it provided me with a weekend of fun back in the day.
|
Super Mario 3
|
Eternal Darkness was what immediately popped into my mind when I saw the thread title. Easily in my top 10 games of all time.
|
The US port of Firepro actually well exceeded expectations. There hasn't been another Firepro because of the decline of pro wrestling in Japan. Wrestle Kingdom 2 was the last wrestling game to come out, and that was in 2006 or something.
|
Lost Odyssey was a great game but one that I never did get round to finishing, will definitely make time to do so in the future.
Another good JRPG is Resonance Of Fate, it certainly wasn't the greatest in terms of the story but it had an interesting world and battle system going for it and is worth picking up should you find it quite cheap. One game I always give a shout out to is Psi Ops back on the PS2. It was a game in which you played a man who had been given psychic powers via experimentation. It was one of the first games I noticed to really take advantage of using the environment. It had a good story, great gameplay but for some reason just never got the acclaim I feel it deserved. Someone mentioned Eternal Darkness, won't go into any detail on that but will just tell people to play it. |
halo
....lol :shifty: |
sorry.
there was a james bond game for the gameboy i loved a while back, but can't remember what it was called |

amazing how i couldn't remember it |
Phantom Dust (Xbox).
Game was fantastic. And no one ever touched it. Also, Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth (Xbox/PC) was great. |
Lufia for Gameboy.
|
Tombi! (or Tomba!, depending on where you live.) for the PS1. Fantastic and colourful game. It's a 2D platformer that uses 2D sprites for characters but the world is made of 3D models.
It's got a RPG style to it with you gaining XP, talking to people to get quests and collecting better gear. Skullmonkeys. A claymation 2D platformer for the PS1 by the Neverhood guys and starring the same character, Klayman. It has a dark look to it but it's actually pretty funny. |
Thought most people had played Eternal Datkness judging by the demand for a sequel.

Threads of Fate on PS1
Also, Clash at Demonhead on NES. |

Also, Skies of Arcadia (DC) with a remake for the Gamecube. I only played the remake, as I never had a Dreamcast. The GC version adds quite a few things, including a bit of backstory that's probably worth it. Sadly, the main characters and bad guy are as flat as Cloud and Sepiroth, but the game packs a cool magic/combat system, a decent story, fun exploration (except a couple of discoveries) and a decent amount of playtime. Oh, and ship combat, which you don't see much in RPGs. This last bit wasn't as common as it could have been, though. This is another game I reeeeeeally want to have a sequel. |

I don't feel Snow Bros. gets the recognition it deserves. Same with the first two Oddworld games.
|
The first two odd world games are in my alltime fav games, didnt realize they werent popular.

Ghost Trick
It's a simply amazing piece of writing and a localisation job from the guys who did Phoenix Wright with fantastic animation, art style and gameplay. I finished it last year on DS and was basically shouting at the screen. It's just come out on iPhone/iPad too and you get the first 3 chapters for free to try it out. |
Who wants to shout at the screen? We're not negroes here.

At least it's easy to pick up again. Still trying to remember some of the nuances, but even the ring timing thing came back to me pretty quick. |
It doesnt reinvent the JRPG or anything, but it has everything gameplaywise you want from a JRPG, plus some extra bells and whistles. Its the story that hooked me and the (poorly translated) memories. Great concept. That and the SKill Link is an awesome way to level.

some of the m are great. the ones with Seth really flesh her out. and its reflected in the game play by having the immortal have to learn everything from the mortals. Really works.
|
Yeah, gotta get further into this game. A shame I'll have KOA tomorrow./
|
thats how i feel about dark souls lol
|
I really should try one of those games at some point.
|
its very very good. the difficulty isnt hype, but once you leanr that the game doesnt want you to just run into battle it gets much easier.
|
But I WANT to just run into battle!
:shifty: It's funny, I tend to overplan strategy games (including TBS/RPGs), but action titles, I tend to be an enemy to psycho missile. Worked really well in the Army of Two games. Take the biggest baddest guns and shoot the fuck out of everything while my buddy snipes and/or flanks. |
army of two was pretty underrated. if you actually had a friend to play with (and yell at) it was pretty damn fun.

there's been rumours since the end of last year that EA's doing a new Ao2, called Army of Four. If the reports are true, it'll have four player co-op. |
dunno how i feel about that. kinda mixed.
|
Could be a good thing.
Could be. I really do want a sequel after 40th Day though. |
i'll say that if it continues to improve like 2 did compaired 1 it'll be worth checking it out. Havent seen anything on it obviously so i'll wait and see.
