Dark Match

The Uso Brothers defeated Tyler Reks and Curt Hawkins.

WWE Smackdown Results (Airing Friday)

The Nebraska National Guard members in the front row scored the biggest pop of the night so far. Lilian Garcia came out and introduced the broadcast team.

The show started with Teddy Long introducing Elimination Chamber participants: Daniel Bryan, Wade Barrett, Big Show, Cody Rhodes, Mark Henry, and Randy Orton.

Henry came out after the announcement to complain about having only a one in six chance at the Chamber. He is the "big fish" and demands to be taken out of the chamber match. Instead, he wants a World Title match tonight. Teddy says he's out of the Chamber match, and there's no match tonight. Mark put his hands on teddy, and Teddy indefinitely suspended him. Mark threatened to get his moneys worth for a suspension. Sheamus came out and delivered a Brogue kick to knock out Henry, who eventually went goes to the back.

Teddy asked Sheamus what title he's going after. Sheamus said he hasn't decided yet. Cody came out and said he did all the work at the Rumble. Teddy made a match between Sheamus and Cody. Teddy did not specify a replacement for Henry at Chamber.

1. Sheamus pinned Cody Rhodes. The crowd was really behind Sheamus. Ray and Troy both noted that it was a good match.

2. Hunico (w/Camacho) vs. Justin Gabriel never got started. Cody was still hurting. He jumped Gabriel along with Hunico and Camacho. It was three on one until Great Khali made the save.

The Mike Tyson video aired. Troy notes that he still wishes he wouldn't have lost to Buster Douglas, as he was scheduled to be the guest referee on Saturday Night's Main Event back in 1990. Douglas replaced Tyson in that role.

Backstage, Drew McIntyre pleaded for his job with Long. Santino came in with a new tag team since Santoshi didn't do so well. This team is SantinOOOOO!! Santino and Hacksaw Jim Duggan. Duggan started a USA chant while Santino yelled "Italia." Aksana came in and noticed Teddys "big piece of wood" that Hacksaw left behind. Duggan looked at Aksana and let out a big "HOOO." This segment got a good laugh from the crowd.

3. Primo and Epico (w/Rosa Mendes) defeated Santino Marella and Jim Duggan. The tag champs won when Santino was going for The Cobra only to be distracted by Rosa Mendes.

Daniel Bryan came out and did his role model speech. He insulted Nebraskans for eating meat. Big heat. Big Show came out said he just got done eating a big steak in the back. Show ended up chokeslamming Bryan. A.J. stopped Show from hurting Bryan more.

4. Brodus Clay beat Heath Slater. Drew McIntyre came out and attacked Clay, who destroyed him. Troy said he's ready to turn the page in favor of a real feud.

5. Beth Phoenix and Natalya defeated Tamina and Aksana. Bathroom break. Beth and Natalya won clean.

It was announced that The Great Khali is replacing Mark Henry in the Elimination Chamber match. Another Rock and John Cena video played to hype WrestleMania 28, and then Randy Orton was interviewed by Josh Mathews.

6. Randy Orton defeated Wade Barrett. Orton and Barrett brawled out in the crowd right in front of Troy. He said it was wild action and featured chairs and tables. Orton won with the RKO. Jacob wrote that there was a lot of buildup to using the table but it broke before Orton could use it. Orton seemed pretty playful for going against the guy that put him on the shelf for two months. The intensity picked up towards the end though.

Daniel Bryan came out to celebrate and then left awkwardly. Teddy Long came out and announced Bryan vs. Orton for next week.

So Khali's Rumble appearance wasn't a one-off deal. Hmm.

Juan 02-01-2012 02:16 AM

Yeah, I heard on the Observer yesterday that he was back for a "short program"

Tazz Dan 02-01-2012 02:31 AM

I was sad when I read about Khali. I don't have an issue with the guy being around, but there's other guys who should be main eventing.

Juan 02-01-2012 02:35 AM

I thought Cody would be in for sure, but it looks like they're going with a feud with Justin Gabriel. Could be a good way to elevate Gabriel AND Rhodes

#1-norm-fan 02-01-2012 02:45 AM

Cody IS in

#1-norm-fan 02-01-2012 02:45 AM

You're talking about the elimination chamber match, right?

Juan 02-01-2012 02:50 AM

Oh you're right. Totally missed that

Tazz Dan 02-01-2012 02:57 AM

Weird

Tazz Dan 02-01-2012 02:57 AM

I would have rather seen Gabriel in it than Khali. Not sure if I've mentioned I don't believe Khali should be in this.

Juan 02-01-2012 02:58 AM

Well in that case, I don't think there's anyone else they could have thrown in there that has the star power. Maybe they'll have Christian return and somehow take Khali's spot

Tazz Dan 02-01-2012 02:58 AM

Khali > Kholi

Christian was the other person I was thinking. Even Jinder would have almost been acceptable.

Juan 02-01-2012 03:02 AM

He was supposed to return at the Rumble, but they scrapped it for some reason, so he should be back any time now

Tazz Dan 02-01-2012 03:58 AM

I'll believe that when Ryan Clark states he's been reporting it for months now.

Was kind of hoping that Drew would get a last chance against someone like Sheamus as a qualifier for the chamber. He was the best thing at that PPV last year.

Happy about him being the first to destroy Brodus, but we all know who'll get the upper-hand on that feud.

St. Jimmy 02-01-2012 04:20 AM

Eliminator Chamber is shaping up to be an awesome fucking show.

Razzamajazz 02-01-2012 05:03 AM

HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Cuse8 02-01-2012 09:41 AM

i hate khali

Ermaximus 02-01-2012 10:17 AM

Maybe they'll add Christian to the SD chamber and make this the first ever 7 man chamber match? Just have the match start as a triple threat and go from there.

Supreme Olajuwon 02-01-2012 11:51 AM

I'm glad Ray and Troy both had a good time at the show.

Im pretty sure you misread - I see this as Clay Destroying Drew who ran in. Which doesnt do much for me.

Skippord 02-01-2012 12:32 PM

who are Ray and Troy?

Supreme Olajuwon 02-01-2012 12:33 PM

two guys who know their shit

lol yeah. I read another report (I swore it was this one) saying that Drew came in to attack Brodus, got destroyed, and then Brodus danced.

Evil Vito 02-01-2012 12:41 PM

<font color=goldenrod>So is Khali going to be forced to start the match because he can't fit into one of the pods?</font>

They'll need to re-enforce it. Starting the match would mean The Great Khali wrestling in a match on PPV for at least 20 minutes. That would be a very bad thing.

#1-norm-fan 02-01-2012 12:46 PM

I have a feeling Chrisitian comes back and somehow injures Khali and gets his spot. Or something else happens where Khali gets replaced.

St. Jimmy 02-01-2012 12:52 PM

Looking forward to Bryan vs. Orton next week, want to see if Orton just completely slacks it as he's been doing for months again.

MoFo 02-01-2012 01:38 PM

roflllllll SD Chamber is garbage.

Well fuck. Think I was just reading what I wanted to read. Longer matches for both Drew and Brodus would be fantastic.

What? lol

Khali is the only weak link really. I'd hardly call it "garbage".

MisterLee 02-01-2012 02:33 PM

Elimination Chamber is about to be poppin'..the only thing that sucks is The Great Khali..WHY did they bring him back? Nobody cares about him..he cant even bend his knees..

MisterLee 02-01-2012 02:34 PM

ThE gReAt KhAlI nEeDs To Go!

Blakeamus 02-01-2012 02:38 PM

WhY cAnT KhAlI jUsT gO aWaY!? OmGzZzZ!¿!¿ FmL!¿

Corndad 02-01-2012 03:28 PM

I think Khali was put in to put over one of the Heels, most likely Rhodes. Build him up as a Monster in the Cage to have either Rhodes or I guess Barrett destroy him. That way even if they lose the match, still won't lose as much steam.

He won't be in there long, probably first one eliminated, and has no chance of winning it so I have no problem with him being in the match at all.

#1-norm-fan 02-01-2012 05:07 PM

I bet he gets pinned or made to submit by Daniel Bryan. Would be something he can "heel it up" about pretty well.

BizarroKing 02-01-2012 05:44 PM

So no Goldust/Cody match?

Also, why is Khali in the chamber? he just came back at the Rumble and he's already getting a shot at the world title???

#1-norm-fan 02-01-2012 05:49 PM

It still surprises you that guys don't have to (kayfabe-wise) work their way to getting title shots?

Blakeamus 02-01-2012 11:07 PM

More Christian...Less Khali

I was kind of thinking when I saw that Kahli was in that Teddy Long would put Drew up against Kahli for his spot in the EC as punishment like he's been doing to him for the past couple weeks...but it looks like he's going to be stuck in the feud with Brodus Clay so whatever. Maybe that spot can go to Christian then..

#1-norm-fan 02-02-2012 12:04 AM

Assuming Henry isn't TOO injured, we could see that Sheamus vs Henry SummerSlam rematch at Elimination Chamber. Finally getting a win over Henry would be a great momentum boost for Sheamus going into WM.

#1-norm-fan 02-02-2012 12:06 AM

I'd kinda rather see Sheamus win the title at WrestleMania and then get challeneged by Henry with the SummerSlam match and Sheamus' inability to beat during that feud him being the focus. But with Henry being taken out of the chamber and Sheamus needing a match it seems like that may be where they're headed.

Juan 02-02-2012 12:16 AM

I don't think Henry is gonna wrestle at EC. There were a few spots at the Rumble where you can tell the guy was in pain

#1-norm-fan 02-02-2012 12:23 AM

I've really heard nothing at all about specifics of the injury. Don't know if it's a "take a couple weeks off and it's all healed" thing or what.

Ugh. Really no interest in this match at WrestleMania. Nothing about it feels like WM at all.

As long as creative doesn't have huge plans in store for Cody at WrestleMania (such as winning Money In The Bank), I'd love to see this match.

#1-norm-fan 02-02-2012 11:10 AM

There's nothing about it that screams "WrestleMania"

Goldust isn't enough of a legend and neither one is capable of making it a 5 star match to make up for the predictable outcome.

#1-norm-fan 02-02-2012 11:11 AM

I guess if the build was amazing and they somehow convinced me that Goldust has a shot at winning. That's a tall order though.

Skippord 02-02-2012 02:16 PM

they could have a backlot brawl

#1-norm-fan 02-02-2012 02:27 PM

Cody'd make a man out of him.

I don't know what else Cody could do at WrestleMania, so I'm all for it.

The story is there, and Goldust can still wrestle. A chase for Goldust to win the Intercontinental title at WrestleMania would be pretty sweet.

#1-norm-fan 02-02-2012 11:46 PM

I'd rather just see him in Money in the Bank.

Mr. C 02-03-2012 12:30 AM

I'd rather see him in a singles match since Ziggler is probably going to be this year's Money In The Bank winner.

Lock Jaw 02-03-2012 12:35 AM

Somebody gonna get their brain chopped at EC

Tazz Dan 02-03-2012 12:49 AM

So, watching this now. Teddy Long should only get limited time on the mic. Butchered his in ring promo.

Tazz Dan 02-03-2012 12:50 AM

Sheamus/Cody had been good so far though.

Tazz Dan 02-03-2012 12:51 AM

MOONSUALT BY CODY!!!!

Tazz Dan 02-03-2012 12:53 AM

Wrestlemania sign is getting lots of air time.

Tazz Dan 02-03-2012 12:54 AM

New finisher by Sheamus! Bit lame, kind of a modified Samoan drop.

Tazz Dan 02-03-2012 01:13 AM

Watching Santino wrestling with Hacksaw and thinking, Fuck, THIS is the guy who ended Umaga's winning streak??

Tazz Dan 02-03-2012 01:13 AM

That then reminded me how much I miss Umaga :'(

Anybody Thrilla 02-04-2012 03:44 AM

That McIntyre/Clay bit didn't even air.

Totally expecting Christian to replace Henry. Absolutely MEH to Khali being in there.

Maybe they'll revisit Christian v Sheamus for EC? Have Christian say that due to the injury caused by Sheamus he missed the Rumble and his chance to headline Mania, so Christian challenges Sheamus for his shot.

XL 02-04-2012 04:02 PM

Also, I think they confused Wade Barrett for Trent Baretta. That music does NOT suit him at all.

Anybody Thrilla 02-04-2012 04:10 PM

Seconded. At first, I wasn't sold on that "End of Days" business, but it grew on me. This one doesn't even stand a chance, I'm afraid.

Also, why switch it at the Royal Rumble? Music recognition fuels about 99 percent of the crowd reaction in that match.

XCaliber 02-04-2012 08:02 PM

Yes there is no doubt Wade's new theme sucks it seriously needs to be remixed by Matt McCloskey pronto sure he's supposed to be a fighter but a man of class just look at his ring attire! Anywho I knew there was gonna be an EC change off the bat since there were 4 heels and only 2 faces participating in the match but I hated the replacement I was actually expecting some one else like Undertaker. Yeah I know the dude is getting old but he is part of the brand and let's face it could use a good warm up for his match at Wrestlemania and could have setup his match too.
