I would say yes!!! Sara Del Rey is really amazing and I have never seen a match of hers that was just average to be honest. I've seen most of her matches. Every Shimmer match she has had I've seen and I've seen her matches with Claudio Castagnoli and Mike Quackenbush and both were good. She is the American Angel and really knows how to do everything.

In addition to the great analysis done by Triple Naitch and Iginfest, I would also say that Velvet Sky and Maria are better female wrestlers than Sara Del Ray as well.

Also remember that chick who was an interviewer on NXT for like a month? Fantastic women's wrestler.

Not seen a lot of her matches but from what I've seen she is definetly has the talent I just wish the WWE signed her to a deal then i'd have a reason to watch Diva matches for more than just the eye candy.

No it's my birthday. I unfortunately have never gotten a chance to see Shimmer live. I've watched it via DVDs and videos online, but I have gotten a chance to see almost every Sara Del Rey match in Shimmer. I also am a huge fan of Cheerleader Melissa (who is the current Shimmer champion) and MsChif.

what i hate about it is that character development for female wrestlers (in wwe anyway) is severely pigeon-holed, and it makes it fucking boring. everything is centered around the fact that they are chicks. there are hot chicks, bitch chicks and psycho chicks. that's it. no "diva" ever has personality or inspiration beyond that. so why the fuck would we care?

^ i loved this idea. a matrix gimmick which matched what she was physically capable of with all her aerial twisting armbar shit. and i could think of a million interesting storylines that could be enhanced by and even centered around the visions she would have, being someone that saw through the matrix that the rest of us assclowns couldn't.

point being, it was an interesting character, unique to the ring at the time. and the fact that she is female would be secondary.

bad wrestlers can still be fun to watch if they are entertaining in some other way. all these "divas" get to bring to the show are their tits and asses. sure, it fun, but only in spurts (ba-dum, chh). there's no reason to develop any connection at all. how boring would the men's division be if it was just a bunch of male strippers?

while trish was a huge star, i think her influence was a catalyst in ostracizing the female division as a separate, lesser entity with only sex appeal to offer, and thus partially to blame for the shitty condition it's in today.[/rant]

I'll probably get some reaming for this, but I havn't been able to get the kind of female wrestler created by Melissa and refined to what it is today by Kong & Del Ray. Chubby, doesn't sell a lot, most of their offense is ridiculous power moves. I mean, I can get that they've been built up because they hardly ever lose and they throw everybody else around like ragdolls, it's like a gender-flipped Brock Lesnar thing. C'mon, tho, the amount of Best in the world!!1!!! hype they get for doing the same damn thing every night? :-\ There's at least 10 women on the American scene I'd put above these 3 that can have awesome matches with people their own size, based on actually working a good match.

what I'm trying to say - Just like I can't eat Steak every night, I do enjoy a round of "OMG WATCH THE BIGGER GIRL KILL THE LITTLE ONE" every once in a while; but not every match.

Also, the idea of anyone being the best female wrestler of all time is a joke when both Fabulous Moolah AND Mae Young existed.

neither of them could draw like the men could...but trish did. neither of them could out work the men...but trish could. neither of them could cut a decent promo...trish could cut a damn good one. neither could work baby and heel...trish could.

One of my issues with this is the need to cut a decent promo. That wasn't ALWAYS a necessity until the '80s to '90s. Hell it wasn't really a necessity until the '70s for most MEN. As far as "drawing like the men," that is a different animal altogether. For a long time, women wrestlers couldn't work at events with men in the audience.

That's like saying Trish couldn't legit take down a woman who was looking to shoot on her... Mae and Moolah could.

I'm not saying that Trish isn't a good worker. Hell, she's a great one. I just think Moolah and Mae are better.

the good ones have ALWAYS been able to talk people into the seats. well before the 70s. the only thing thats changed is how they talk them into said seats.

pretty irrelevent. people paid to see trish. they did not pay to see moolah outside of the freakshow draw.
