March 5th at 5pm eastern time, Ubisoft is gonna spill all the details about the game.

Dunno. This feels like Last of the Mohicans all over again. Damn, that was a good movie. I'm gonna go watch it now.

Looks sweet. I am excite.

That last pic reminds me of that scene in the Patriot, when Mel Gibson kills 20 red coats to save his son.

EGM revealed most of the details from the upcoming GI issue.

Quote:

The following details come from the latest issue of Game Informer magazine. Their article on Assassin’s Creed III has a lot of great information, but here’s a few of the most interesting tidbits they reveal.

* The main character’s name is Connor / Ratohnhake:ton (pronounced Ra-doon-ha-gay-doo). Connor is of mixed race: His father is English, and his mother Native America.

* Connor will have “thousands” of new and unique animations as a part of the game’s new combat system. No animations from previous Assassin’s Creed games will be present.

* Assassin’s Creed III will no longer feature target locking—targets will be detected automatically. Counter and defense are now the same button to “prevent turtling”.

* Control in and out of battle will be the same, and Connor will go into battle with two weapons.

* New movement aspects to the game will allow players to climb and scale trees and mountain cliffs. Traversing the wilderness will also be a big deal in the game.

* Combat has an increased focus on speed and momentum, and being on the offensive.

* Assassin’s Creed III will be running on a new version of the Anvil engine, one which allows the game to “depict thousands of troops engaged in bloody battle” even to the point of having highly detailed close-ups of faces. Says that previous games could allow only about 100 people on screen, where now they can do a couple thousand.

* There will be a level of “grey morality” in the game—the Colonists will not just be the “good guys”, and the British will not just be the “bad guys”.

* For those wondering, yes—Connor will have a hidden blade at his disposal.

* Connor’s gear and equipment can be changed and upgraded as the game goes on.

* Fighting during the winter will put enemies at a disadvantage. Soldiers will have problems travelling through snow and ice, while Connor will still be able to use his more stealth-based means of movement.

* You’ll be able to hunt animals for resources, and the more skilled you are at killing them, the better materials you’ll get off of them.

* There will be no tower defense aspects in Assassin’s Creed III.
The official debut trailer will arrive on March 5th on the game's website.

Sting Fan 03-02-2012 09:20 PM

Never played any of the Assassins creed series. I will probably buy this however.

Best Buy has a Steelbook you get for pre-ordering it. Word is also that Gamestop is doing the same thing. Heading to BB first thing then to GS to check things out. Best part is you can later return you pre-order and keep the Steelbook.

Ubisoft has officially revealed the first real details on Assassin's Creed 3. First of all, in addition to Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, the game is headed to the Wii U. The new protagonist is named Ratohnhaké:ton and is "of Native American and English heritage." He has also adopted the name Connor, much to the relief of copy editors everywhere.

As reported, the game does take place during the American Revolution and "spans the Revolutionary War, taking gamers from the vibrant, untamed frontier to bustling colonial towns and the intense, chaotic battlefields where George Washington's Continental Army clashed with the imposing British Army." More details are promised in the April issue of Game Informer.

Assassin's Creed 3 is built on an entirely new engine called Ubisoft-AnvilNext, which promises "breakthroughs in visual quality, character models and artificial intelligence." Finally, a special limited edition case -- which looks awfully familiar -- will be given to those who pre-order AC3 through GameStop, Best Buy or Amazon. Check out the debut trailer above and see the limited edition case in the gallery below.

G 03-06-2012 01:59 PM

The Xbox Live Marketplace's listing for Assassin's Creed 3 briefly counted "Online co-op 2 - 4" among the game's various features, as well as "Online multiplayer 2 - 8." While the online multiplayer classification remains, the co-op listing has since been removed from both the European and North American Xbox Live Marketplace.

Situations like this are tricky, because the Xbox Live Marketplace has been known to list some patently false information. At times, however, it can be right on the money, so we're bringing it your attention. While multiplayer is nothing new at this point for Assassin's Creed, campaign co-op would be a major addition to the franchise.

I wait to see how a bunch of French Canadians (from various ethnic and religious backgrounds) treat American history.

Emperor Smeat 03-13-2012 08:33 PM

A few new details were revealed.

Only Boston and New York will be the main cities in the game so the game probably won't cover the other areas of the Revolutionary War.

Story-wise, its set up similar to AC II where you control the main character during different stages of his life and won't just be during the Revolutionary War.

Quote:

A seasonal cycle of weather will also be implemented, which will not only change the environment, but also gameplay. Enemies will behave differently in each weather condition and lakes will freeze over allowing you to cross them.

Details regarding the Wii U version were revealed by Ubisoft:

Quote:

The latest issue of Nintendo Power reports that the tablet will display a map of the area and various Animus database entries as players work their way through the game. The controller’s touchscreen can be used to quickly select weapons during combat and choose between single- and dual-wield modes.

Finally the tablet can function as an alternative Eagle Vision view, with players controlling the camera using the built in accelerometer.

Depending on the console release date, I'll probably get it for Wii U. Guess it also depends on what else Nintendo bring to the party on ther launch games.

I'd get it on PC, but fuck their DRM.

Emperor Smeat 03-30-2012 06:15 PM

PC version is being designed to be played primarily with a controller pad but will also keep the mouse & keyboard setup the previous AC games used.
http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...troller-on-pc/

Based on some potential leaks, pre-order bonuses for multiplayer include 2 extra outfits and 2 extra weapons for Conner to go along with potentially a new mulitplayer character.

A couple of details regarding the pre-order editions with Gamestop in the US and GAME in the UK are the ones who will exclusively carry the Freedom Edition and GAME Edition.

Quote:

For us here in the States, the previously-revealed Freedom Edition of Assassin’s Creed III will be exclusive to GameStop. The Freedom Edition will feature a Connor figurine, a steel book case, an exclusive lithograph, George Washington’s notebook (which contains “revealing all the truth & secrets about the Assassins and the Templars during the American Revolution”), and two bonus single-player stages: Lost Mayan Ruins and Ghost of War.

Meanwhile over in the UK, recently beleaguered retailer GAME will actually be playing host to the Assassin’s Creed III GAME Exclusive Edition, which will include the exclusive single-player mission A Dangerous Secret, along with the flintlock musket as a bonus weapon.

There will be monthly challenges which unlocks new game content which also extends the overall storyline. Ubisoft is currently planning about a year's worth of extra storyline content for the game.

Weather effects will impact how the play moves and overall visibility while objects found in the environment or equipped can trigger special environmental kills".

Horde-like co-op mode similar to Gears of War 3 in a sense that your hunting down targets instead of just clearing waves. Also a regular 4v4 team based multiplayer mode was confirmed.

Both EGM and Destructoid had hands-on previews with the game with their reactions being the NPC quests are a lot more expansive than the previous game, sailing is pretty easy and smooth, combat is a lot smoother and the best in the entire series, and the new multiplayer modes are good.

Quote:

Domination is pretty much like Domination in every other game out there. You have three markers scattered about a map with the objective being to control these markers for the majority of the match and you score points every few seconds based on how many markers are in control by your faction. The difference is its done with an Assassin’s Creed flair in that a capturing team cannot kill players who control the section, they can only stun them, and it takes longer to capture a point then it does for someone to recover from stun. This presents the interesting dilemma of knowing when to expose oneself, if at all.

The big draw for multiplayer this go around though was the Wolf Pack Co-op. In this mode, you and three friends attempt to perform as many assassinations as possible and each assassination is scored. By hitting certain point thresholds, the assassinations start to get harder and harder as you move through 25 point thresholds.

The most interesting twist here though is that by coordinating your assassinations with teammates, you can earn larger and larger point bonuses so balancing both quality and quantity is the only effective way to progress through the higher levels. Not to mention communication becomes critical. There are also special side missions that can add to the score and your experience if you can accomplish them with the most impressive being the multi-sync kill. This is where all four members of the team must lock onto their targets and execute them at the same time, triggering an impressive cinematic and massive score bonuses.

http://www.destructoid.com/preview-a...y-235420.phtml

Ubisoft themselves said to expect a lot of twists and "seeds" to occur in AC III since they are going to be setting up a lot of new future storylines to the point they don't need to finish any of them in a row or even have the same characters showing up in back-to-back games.

Also revealed was the 1st set of DLC for the game is a 3-part storyline campaign involving Evil George Washington.

Quote:

Ubisoft’s expansion plans for Assassin’s Creed III look to be more ambitious than in previous offerings, with the company already announcing a three-part story called The Tyranny of King George.

The Tyranny of King George supposes the Revolutionary War didn’t end with a future full of democracy, but a power-hungry George Washington succumbing to the very thing he fought against.

Can’t wait. So stoked for this.

ClockShot 10-23-2012 05:41 PM

Sweeeeeeeeeet. Other than Cornwalis, Arnold was the only other guy I hoped I would be hunting down in this game.

Paid this off this morning at Gamestop and I got all halloween to play it.

Skippord 10-28-2012 03:53 PM

pretty rock hard excited for this on Tuesday

Disturbed316 10-29-2012 03:27 AM

Haven't really been following the info on this recently, but will most likely get this when it comes out.

James Steele 10-29-2012 03:35 AM

Never played any of these games, the whole American Revolution theme has me very interested. After reading about the series, I never realized it was so focused on the history aspect of things.

Ubisoft has added in a micro-transaction system for the game's online multiplayer.

Quote:

Assassin’s Creed III‘s multiplayer component will allow you to spend real-money in order to acquire some in-game items regardless of your current experience level.

“Erudito Packs” for the game were discovered in the latest PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Marketplace updates. Erudito appears to be a form of in-game currency and is available to buy in several denominations ranging from a pack of 20 for $0.99 to 925 for $19.99.

Assassin’s Creed III UPlay Passport – ($9.99)
Assassin’s Creed III 155 Erudito Pack – ($4.99)
Assassin’s Creed III 20 Erudito Pack – ($0.99)
Assassin’s Creed III 380 Erudito Pack – ($9.99)
Assassin’s Creed III 50 Erudito Pack – ($1.99)
Assassin’s Creed III 925 Erudito Pack – ($19.99)

The PlayStation Store update mentions that all the content available to buy with Erudito is only available from within Assassin’s Creed III and will not be downloadable from the PlayStation Store. I doubt that this content will be anything game breaking, it will most likely be experience boosts and cosmetic items, however, this is the first time that Ubisoft has attempted something like this with the series’ multiplayer component, will it pay off?
These packs are not covered by the Season Pass and instead are being treated separately by Ubisoft.

Getting this tomorrow via delivery from Amazon...counting the hours and minutes now.

Extreme Angle 10-30-2012 04:30 AM

Poor student can't afford :(.
Gonna have to wait :(

D Mac 10-30-2012 04:57 AM

Yeah i'll just wait for this to become used. Don't care about multiplayer.

Emperor Smeat 10-30-2012 05:28 PM

Two quick updates as Ubisoft clarified the microtransaction system saying all the in-game stuff can still be unlocked the normal way but is based on levels while the pay system can unlock stuff any time possible.

They are also recommending everyone to download the Day 1 patch since it fixes a lot of glitches and bugs.

Just got this and booted it up and working my way through the first sequence, already noticing difference compaired to previous games. Climbing is much more fluid and easier to navigate around, graphics look top notch too. Not sure if this has been previously mentioned in any postings, but was suprised to find it came on two discs.

Skippord 10-31-2012 03:27 AM

Combat is different and harder, which is cool

SlickyTrickyDamon 10-31-2012 04:21 AM

Harder? Sequels are supposed to be easier! Somebody tell Ubisoft to read the rules of making a successful franchise! You make the games super-easy so people will think they are good at it and like it!!

LoDownM 10-31-2012 04:35 AM

Love it.

G 10-31-2012 08:47 AM

So excited. Can't wait to get some free time today to play this.

The Destroyer 10-31-2012 05:49 PM

I'm not too far in, only just got to Boston. Interesting how they're starting it off, I like it.

Blitz 10-31-2012 07:22 PM

Yeah I'm only a few hours in, but digging it so far.

Though I know I'll likely be switching over to Conor soon, kinda wish Haytham was the main character, as he seems like a proper gentleman badass.

Skippord 10-31-2012 07:25 PM

Conor's pretty great(finally got to him), but Haytham is really cool so I would have enjoyed playing as him for awhile longer.

The Destroyer 11-01-2012 10:41 AM

Nothing really stopping them going back and doing a Haytham prequel (or sequel, as I've got no idea how his part of the story ends right now) game. Although if AC3 really is the end of the whole Desmond storyline, not sure how they'd frame it.

ClockShot 11-01-2012 09:25 PM

I hate each and everyone of you who got to play this on release day.

Just kidding. Got my copy on wednesday, power came back today, won't be hooking anything up until friday.

Blitz 11-01-2012 09:54 PM

Did not see that bit at the end of Haytham's chapters coming, tbh. Nice.

Skippord 11-02-2012 04:29 AM

I hate Paul Revere so much
