Can't wait to see the reaction Chael gets when he walks out to the cage.

Kris P Lettus 04-04-2012 04:38 PM

NICE

It's like that Abu Dabi shit..

James Steele 04-04-2012 10:21 PM

Jesus Christ, I hope they got enough security for that shit.

Next Big Thing 04-05-2012 10:40 AM

That's what I'm saying. After all the things Sonnen has said about Silva/Brazil and all the trash he will talk in the build up, there's no way those fans won't raise hell 10 feet if Silva loses. It's not just American vs. Brazilian; it's American who has said some borderline racist shit vs. beloved Brazilian fighter and legend of the sport.

Either way, I think this is going to be one of the most memorable events in all of sports, not just MMA.

Shaved Monkey 04-05-2012 11:16 AM

I think it would be awesome if Sonnen had his own Popemobile surrounded by Marines to escort him to and from the Octagon.

Funky Fly 04-05-2012 02:52 PM

Dude, have you ever seen soccer rivalries boil over? We're talking brawls across the stands to the point that fires break out and so many people in one place to brawl that fucking concrete stands start collapsing. This could get ugly.

That actually reminds me. I wonder if the Brazilian fans will react to Dana White saying last week that soccer requires no skill at all.

Kris P Lettus 04-05-2012 04:21 PM

You see that video of the soccer player reading the open letter to Dana White??

 Awesome. Dana will probably be a little bitch about it like he was with Tito.

NoJabbaNoBogRoll 04-07-2012 06:18 PM

You'd think the guy who runs one of the most badmouthed sports on the planet would know better than to make ignorant statements about other sports.

James Steele 04-07-2012 06:38 PM

He is an arrogant wannabe bitch. What do you expect?

Kris P Lettus 04-07-2012 06:41 PM

LOL

What does he wannabe exactly??

James Steele 04-08-2012 01:47 AM

He thinks he is some badass mother fucker when he is nothing but a failed boxer who got to ride the coattail of his friend all the way to the top of the MMA world. He has done amazing things for UFC and MMA, but he is such an over-the-top arrogant piece of shit that he is holding UFC and MMA from going to the next level of mainstream acceptance. Goodell, Selig, etc. don't act like Dana White does and it would be completely unacceptable for them to because when you are the top authority figure for a major professional sports league, you fucking act like it.

Crimson 04-08-2012 02:50 AM

Cant defend Dana sometimes. He does go out of bounds alot.

When did you get into MMA Steele? Are you becoming a big fan like Jabba did after Lesnar drew him in.

Not gonna lie, I like reading your posts even when I disagree or think you don't know what the hell you're talking about. It's always fun when hardcore, but still intelligent wrestling fans get into MMA because they bring the same enthusiasm they have for wrasslin'. That's assuming you don't find a fighter who becomes your Triple H of MMA of course.

James Steele 04-08-2012 08:11 PM

I started watching during the peak of Liddell/Couture and really got into it with TUF Season 1, but I don't watch it religiously. I enjoy the big fights and Diego Sanchez is still my favorite fighter even though he's been through some shit.

EDIT: I'll be the first to admit that I do not know all the finer points of MMA or study the different fighting styles and techniques, but I know enough to know Dana is a massive twat.

Kris P Lettus 04-08-2012 08:14 PM

uggghhhhh

Sanchez??

Really??

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/md_8WJzhsow" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

James Steele 04-08-2012 08:26 PM

I don't do flavors of the month. I loved him on TUF1 and as such I will continue to be a fan.

James Steele 04-08-2012 08:28 PM

Same reason I will always hate Chris Leben, I suppose.

Kris P Lettus 04-08-2012 08:35 PM

See I hated Diego on TUF 1 and loved Leban..

Still do..

Krimzon7 04-08-2012 08:46 PM

I loved MMA during TUF 1. Still do. Not being a cunt, but none of the season 1 guys stuck out to me. Season two however....well we won't get into all of that here :)

Fighter wise, season two is superior but personality wise I think Season 1 still has the best assortment of fighters you either get behind or hate.

James Steele 04-08-2012 08:55 PM

I don't understand how anyone can like Chris Leben.

James Steele 04-08-2012 08:56 PM

Back on topic, what is the over/under on a riot in Brazil?

Next Big Thing 04-08-2012 09:02 PM

I seriously think the PPV is worth the buy just to hear the reaction Sonnen gets when he is introduced and the crowd chaos that will result if he wins. You know he's going to come out to "America the Beautiful" or something to serve as fuel to the fire too.

James Steele 04-08-2012 09:07 PM

If I had the money, I'd pay whatever amount it took for him to come out to "America, Fuck Yeah!".

The over under is set at the opening credits.... I'm going with UNDER. This may be the ppv that starts with the backstage riot.

He should come out to Living In America Apollo Creed style.

Fuck it, throw the costume on too. That would be worth the PPV price alone.

Kris P Lettus 04-09-2012 06:05 PM

He should def wear the Apollo/Rampage American flag trunks..

Kris P Lettus 04-11-2012 12:19 AM

The walkout shirts are always around that price but it's just kinda ridiculous to me.. I'll just wait until after the fight and get it for half price..

http://www.5thround.com/112037/ander...n-in-jeopardy/

Last month, the UFC announced middleweight king Anderson Silva (Pictured) would rematch Chael Sonnen on June 23rd at Engenhão Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Fast forward less than 30 days and the United Nations have thrown a major monkey wrench into the Octagon’s UFC 147 plans.

The UN has scheduled their conference on Sustainable Development from June 20-22 in Brazil. Although the event’s website did not disclose how many are expected to attend the festivities, the three-day gathering is looking to host thousands of people.

“We’re working on it, it’s still a work in progress. We’re working through it trying to figure this whole thing out,” UFC president Dana White said during Saturday’s ‘UFC on FUEL TV 2′ post-fight press conference. “The problem is, they don’t like the idea of us coming the same time this United Nations convention is going on.

“The other problem is hotel rooms. Most of the hotel rooms are being taken up. And we don’t think, we know that the Anderson Silva-Chael Sonnen fight is one of the biggest sporting events this year, in the world.”

Engenhão holds approximately 47,000 capacity for soccer matches, but the UFC should be able to increase that number significantly by reconfiguring the arena to accommodate their cage. The final tally should threaten the promotion’s all-time attendance record of 55,724, which was set last April at UFC 129 inside Toronto’s Rogers Centre.

“I think it’s a huge sporting event,” White said of the highly-anticipated sequel. “I think people will come to Rio from all over the world. I think we’re going to need hotel rooms. Hopefully, we’ll get this thing done in the next few days – one way or the other.”

After manhandling Silva for nearly five complete rounds at UFC 117, Sonnen was abruptly submitted by “The Spider” with only 110 ticks remaining on the clock. Since the August 2010 defeat, Sonnen has been doing everything within his power to land a rematch – including insulting every Brazilian fighter within earshot.

Don’t forget to follow 5thRound on Twitter and Facebook!

MoFo 04-15-2012 12:25 PM

Gayyyyyy

Kris P Lettus 04-15-2012 12:26 PM

It will not be nearly as great if it's not in Brazil..

James Steele 04-15-2012 12:34 PM

Does the UN really book shit that late or did nobody in Brazil fucking look at the schedule of events when UFC came to them?

Sepholio 04-15-2012 01:53 PM

Sonnen is gonna beat that ass....for four and half rounds -_-'

I swear if he brutalizes silva the way he did the first time and still manages to lose...well, I'll.....I'll cry.

Kris P Lettus 04-15-2012 02:01 PM

What will be amazing is if Silva comes out with something to prove and absolutely destroys him ala Forrest Griffin..

:'(

More likely it'll be like what he did to Yushin Okami. Did you see how he was leading the offence? Tripped me right out.

MoFo 04-15-2012 05:09 PM

The possibility of a riot greatly interests me, cant be dealing with Anderson winning this....

Krimzon7 04-15-2012 05:53 PM

I think Atlanta would be a great venue for this fight.

Next Big Thing 04-15-2012 08:56 PM

I want the UFC to do a super fight in NOLA at the Superdome on the Saturday before Mardi Gras. The promotional opportunities would be sick and the city would work with the UFC in terms of planning. Especially if you have the fighters on a float with one of the Krewes during the week. That would be epic.

That would be awesome, until every fighter misses weight, and pisses hot with 4 different std's!

I say go for it, all we got here is...gay pride:-\

Kris P Lettus 04-16-2012 10:25 AM

I'm actually surprised they have never done a "big" show down here.. They did the one "fight night" and sold out, but it was only like 5k seats at the Convention Center, and not at the Arena or the Dome..

Chael Sonnen’s rematch against Anderson Silva, for the UFC middleweight title, may not happen in hostile territory.

"O Globo" reported today that the bout will be moved to Las Vegas, and rumors indicate that the showdown will also be moved to UFC 148 on July 7th.

Anderson Silva’s manager Ed Soares told TATAME on Monday that the bout is already signed for June 23, in Rio de Janeiro, but his Black House partner, Jorge Guimaraes, told TATAME today that the plans could change.

“This situation is already being discussed. There are some speculations. What you heard, I heard too. It seems like there are no hotels to fit everybody with UN’s event, Rio+20”, Guiamares said.

“(Silva vs. Sonnen’s venue and date) will be announced by Dana White in a press conference in Brazil. Nothing is confirmed yet”.

UFC president Dana White, along with Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen, will host a press conference in Brazil next Tuesday.

The “Spider”, who demanded that the rematch needed to take place in Brazil, will accept to fight in Nevada?

“That you have to ask Anderson. I don’t know,” Jorge said. “First it has to be moved, than we’ll see”

Hey now! I got out of NOLA after four years at Tulane STD free baby! Uptown girls are clean and classy. Especially Pi Phis... but I digress. I'm a Georgia boy through and through, but as a city, the fans and scene in Atlanta is too uptight at times and most people are out to be seen, not to have a good time.

In NOLA during Mardi Gras (hell anytime), you can go to the parades or game, get wasted off of daiquiris by the levees, hit up Bourbon Street for some hand grenades and tourist floozies, take said floozies to a dive bar like Ms. Mae's, take her home and send her out in a cab. Add a major UFC event to the mix and the amount of epic goes up. You can't do anything like that in Atlanta because of the city's size, laws and too a lesser extent culture.

YOu're one fingerbang away from a Herpes outbreak in NOLA. :)

Yes, a UFC in NOLA sounds like an epic sandwich with a side of awesome and a holy shit shake to wash everything down with. I'm bummed about UFC 145 now. my tickets which I covet and this weekend has been ruined by the untimely death of a very close childhood friend. I'm heading to south carolina tomorrow afternoon to be with his family and attend the funeral.

Krimzon7 05-15-2012 09:27 AM

I love Chael Sonnen.

RP 06-26-2012 12:48 AM

If Anderson Silva say's he's going to break Chael's legs and teeth. I believe him.

Sepholio 06-26-2012 03:36 AM

Sonnen is gonna whoop that ass, RP. Right after he comes back from the dentist and rides into the ring in a wheelchair.

Jura 06-26-2012 10:21 AM

I hope Silva goes all matrix on him like he did against Forrest.

Sepholio 06-26-2012 04:01 PM

On a serious note, I honestly think Sonnen might win this fight. I see a third fight between the two in the cards, regardless. Still wish it would have been able to happen in Brazil, though.

Next Big Thing 06-26-2012 04:44 PM

I'm sad because the atmosphere would have been sick in Brazil, but I think it's for the best that the fight isn't happening in Brazil. For the sake of safety and security.

Jamstar 06-26-2012 07:23 PM

sonnen is going to receive an ass kicking. Can't wait .

Krimzon7 06-27-2012 07:00 AM

not so fast my friend. I've got the sneaking suspicion that Anderson has not worked on his wrestling, and is still succeptable to being taken down. If he can't stop the Sonnen Double leg, then he is going to have to go all matrix off his back, again.

Next Big Thing 06-27-2012 08:08 AM

I think Sonnen's TRT gives him a bigger advantage than his wrestling. I'm sorry but if you give a guy synthetic testosterone that he can inject at his discretion and cycle on and off of before the period of random testing starts, that's a pretty big advantage.

As far as the Sonnen Double Leg, I think Anderson's injured rib also impacted his ability to sprawl and fight that off.

Jura 06-27-2012 09:44 AM

Watch "Anderson Silva Like Water" and it documents his life and training before, during and after the Sonnen fight and he did hurt his ribs it seems.

Sepholio 06-27-2012 09:23 PM

Sonnen loses points in creativity now that I know dude trained at the WCW Power Plant and wanted to become a pro wrestler. I always thought he was a fighter with pro wrestling level mic skills. Now I know he's just a pro wrestler with a wicked double leg. Always a sad day when heroes are exposed.

I"ll be honest. I've got a goddam chubby right now waiting on this fight.

Chael may have gone to the power plant, but that charisma, and heel ability is purely chael. I would imagine that the instruction he received was 'we'll get out of your way with the microphone, but you need to learn how to take a bump.
