Tupac Returns...sort of
this is amazing stuff here
a hologram version of Tupac Shakur joins the festivities at Coachella with Dr Dre & Snoop Dogg <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ajVGIRsKXdo?version=3&feature=player_detailpage"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ajVGIRsKXdo?version=3&feature=player_detailpage" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360"></object> |
Saw this video, was pretty damn amazing. Especially cool how he threw in the Coachella reference.
|
F'n crazy..
I bet the audience was freaking out at first.. |
Was creepy as fuck.
|
I guess they set that shit up in Haiti so Pac could perform without admitting his death was staged. He's aged well.
|
Still cant belive its a hologram, surely its a lookalike (real person)
|
Imagine tripping your face off in the crowd and seeing that.
|
Pretty amazing overall and they really did great on the hologram itself.
|
He was lip syncing though :/
|
Let the poor guy rest in peace.
|
That was cool and creepy how real it looks.

I dunno. Everyone's all "OMG WOW SO COOL" but I find the whole thing a bit fucked up, honestly. |

Apparently this technology was used by Mariah Carey last year when she performed simultaneously in like 4 or 5 different countries

Am I the only person more impressed with Snoops hand jewelry?

2Pac representing the Uncanney Valley, niggas!
|
It wasn't actually a hologram, it was a 19th century optical illusion combined with awesome CGI.

I would go see holograms of dead performers... that would be mint.

According to Dre, he asked for Tupac's mother permission to use the hologram in the concert and would have also had Nate Dogg as well but something went wrong with getting his hologram to work.
|
There's a show at Universal Studios Orlando that uses similar technology to make it look like the presenter is onstage with Christopher Walken.
This is a fun use of that, but I agree that we might be getting kinda close to "slippery slope" territory. All will be forgiven, though, if I could see The Beatles live... |
The hilarious thing is that everyone is talking about the interaction between Snoop and Pac that happens during 2 of Amerika'z Most Wanted...they fucking used the studio version of the song and let Snoop do all his parts live.
I don't understand how anyone who ever listened to 2Pac has never heard that song. |
Not gonna lie, I got chills watching it the first time and a little sad at the end. It's a great use of technology. Imagine what they'll be able to do in another 10-15 years.
I hope the rumors of a Tupac hologram tour aren't true though. It was a great one-shot deal and she be left at that. |

It was the second single off of All Eyez On Me after the smash hit California Love.. |

That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard..
I'm not Mexican but I know what the Macarena is.. |
Not everybody follows hip hop...
There are a bunch of country songs that you probably don't know or that others don't know. |
That is not true..
Once they get to the level of "mainstream pop" then everyone knows about them.. I don't listen to Taylor Swift, but it doesn't mean I don't recognize her songs when I hear them.. Tupac, at that point, was pop.. His videos were on Mtv and the album in question was like number 9 as far as record sales in 1996.. You don't have to "follow" a certain type of music to know who mainstream acts are.. |

It depends on how popular they are and Taylor is or was popular but she's not that popular. She'll probably be a nobody in a few years or just have a few dedicated left over post-tweens that like her while she hangs on to her 15 minutes of fame by a thread. |
LOL
|
this would be handy for Gorillaz and Dethklok shows

Taylor Swift and electro-pop do not go together.
|
Shows how much I know, huh? Either way, I'd have a hard time hearing a top 40 song and going "hey it's that Taylor Swift song" unless the DJ name drops her before the song.
|
You also wear zippered Jinkos and fingerless gloves.. No one was accusing you of being on top of modern pop culture..
|
LOL
Fucking JNCOs Such trash wear them. |
Moments later someone shot Hologram Tupac.

Pretty cool. The hologram kind of glides a bit when he walks back and forth but whatever.

As for fingerless gloves. yea, so what? I like them. Fuck you :) I'm sorry for not being up to date with the latest Disney or American Idol products. Comparing somebody's fame like Taylor Swift to Tupac makes no sense, she's no where near that level. But it's true, I really don't give a shit to keep up with what's "hot" unless I already like that established artist. There's a ton of good music, just a good number of it isn't on the radio. So sorry if I can't name her on a top whatever playlist. |
Getting a wee-bit defensive are we?
|
I was just saying it's hard to tell apart a lot of the top female artists for me because I don't keep up with top 40 and he throws in a subtle jab about wearing Jnco's, which is totally not my style at all.
I wasn't being insecure or anything, Jnco just sucks and raver pants don't appeal to me. |
I'd love to see this kind of stuff be done more often. It'd be great to see Elvis or The Rat Pack in Vegas, watch Andre the Giant wrestle, see Steve Jobs talk about Apple, or even see a "living" dinosaur in a museum. Aside from entertainment, this can also be used as an educational aide or even used as a training tool for law enforcement.
|
Only other place I've seen it used is on a sort of ride at Universal Studios in Orlando. With Christopher Walken. :y:
|
Although the exploitation can be misused... I'd love to see Layne Staley, Kurt, Morrison, Lennon, The Ramones...
