WrestleMania XXVIII buyrate is in...

Quote:

WWE announced that WrestleMania XXVIII, held April 1 at Sun Life Stadium in Miami, set new records for pay-per-view buys and gross sales.

Preliminary estimates show that WrestleMania, featuring the historic “Once in a Lifetime” Match between The Rock and John Cena, garnered 1.3 million pay-per-view buys with global gross sales in excess of $67 million including the live event.

WrestleMania was seen around the world on pay-per-view in more than 105 countries and 20 languages.

Next year’s WrestleMania will take place Sunday, April 7, 2013, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. Ticket information will be announced later this year.

If these preliminary estimates hold up, that's a pretty damn impressive buyrate even for a WM...

Supreme Olajuwon 04-16-2012 03:31 PM

We did it!

#1-norm-fan 04-16-2012 03:33 PM

*Blows a kazoo*

Jordan 04-16-2012 04:07 PM

I put like 28 bucks into that.

St. Jimmy 04-16-2012 04:09 PM

That's not very good. Nowhere near the expected numbers.

St. Jimmy 04-16-2012 04:10 PM

1.3 is not 1.5, and it's certainly not the other number someone said of 1.9

That other person who claimed the 1.9 also said that he was just talking out of his ass.

1.3 is pretty good.

St. Jimmy 04-16-2012 05:25 PM

1.3 for the Rock is not very good. 1.5 would be "okay". 1.7 would be good.

Jordan 04-16-2012 05:27 PM

1.3 mil is retarded good what are you on?

Shaved Monkey 04-16-2012 05:39 PM

Isn't this now the Wrestlemania with the highest buy rate in history?

It may not have reached St. Jimmy's expectations but that number is still pretty damned good.

Yes. Pretty sure it's the biggest buyrate ever for the company.

SO DISAPPOINTING!

St. Jimmy, when did you become such a twat?

Gertner 04-16-2012 08:20 PM

ROH's Wrestlemania iPPV has 1.3...viewers

VSG 04-16-2012 08:35 PM

1 teenager and a kid?

St. Jimmy 04-16-2012 09:06 PM

Just going with the actual news sites. They all expected more, as did WWE. Compared to projections, this number sucks.

Mr. Pierre 04-16-2012 09:35 PM

26 - 885,000
27 - 1,000,000
28 - 1,300,000

Mr. JL 04-16-2012 10:00 PM

Unreasonable projections.

300, 000 is a GREAT increase in buys, especially when you look further back.

I was thinking the .3 was the extra size of the average ROH fan.

Supreme Olajuwon 04-16-2012 11:13 PM

Or maybe ROH fans only count as 3/5ths of a person like back in the good ole days of slavery.

See, I would have bought the pay per view at that price. It would have cost $65 for me to order it here in Canada.

It was the equivalent of about $25 here, or £15 in real money. That was a great deal.

Actual news sites? So CNN, Fox News, MSNBC all thought it was going to be more?

Team Sheep 04-17-2012 12:37 AM

Fair play to Sky, I've been expecting a price jump on the WWE PPV's for years but it's never happened. And keeping Wrestlemania the same price as the rest of them is cool. Even though we did used to get them all for free once upon a time, that was never going to last forever, and we still get a good handful of them for free. Considering the UK is probably WWE's biggest overseas hotspot, we get a great deal compared to how it is in the States and a lot of other countries. I have no idea who would pay $50 odd for something like Fatal 4 Way or Over the Limit. Ludicrous.

1.3 million is not a buyrate it's the actual numbers of buys.

Buyrate: How many people bought it divided by how many people could buy it.

All the PPV's are that price in Australia. Must suck for you guys, and even the Americans get charged more than us too I think. I can see why so many people stream.

SlickyTrickyDamon 04-17-2012 12:52 AM

British and Australians customers need to be charged more.

DaVe 04-17-2012 01:33 AM

Oh, we are.

On all technology from phones and games through to cars. With luxury cars twice the price they are in the US in certain cases.

Sorta don't get why PPVs are so cheap here, but I'm not gonna complain about that.

James Steele 04-17-2012 01:44 AM

My guess would be because they air at fucking 1am over there.

At least you get Raw live. But then, we get Smackdown a day early.

But still, what DaVE said.

Team Sheep 04-17-2012 12:49 PM

We get Raw live and Smackdown 3 hours before America. Woo.

It's not my fault if none of you listen to radio shows or read.

St. Jimmy 04-18-2012 06:40 PM

I'm not sure you can read.

Swiss Ultimate 04-18-2012 06:52 PM

Wow, Jimmy. Thought you were supposed to be calming down. You look like a real idiot here.

Until we see profit margin for this thing there's no way we'll know if this is a success in terms of money. That said, breaking records is at the very least good for business considering the fact that so many people have tuned out.

I can only imagine one scenario where not meeting the "projected" numbers but still breaking their previous records qualifies as a failure. If they spent more on The Rock (who by the way never "drew" like he did at Mania so saying "1.3 for the Rock" is not very good is subjective if we're giving you credit and outright silly if not) and the PPV combined and that profit did not meet or exceed the average Wrestlemania profit keeping with inflation.

So go read one of those "news sites" and get back to us, okay?

St. Jimmy 04-18-2012 06:55 PM

DeathtotheSwiss This message is hidden because DeathtotheSwiss is on your ignore list.

For you, Jimmy. Also, by radio shows, we're you referring to Ryan Clark and his online radio show?

More people than TNA.

Swiss Ultimate 04-18-2012 08:43 PM

If you like something, what does it matter if you're in the majority of people?

Oh wait, you're a wrestling hipster...holy shit.

I'm so happy I created the term "wrestling hipster" and that it has gotten over.

For the record more people care about Ring Ka King than ROH and TNA combined.

Official WrestleMania buyrate is in: 1 Million, 214 Thousand.

711,000 North American Buys.

This was not as great as a number as WWE expected.

Source: Wrestling Observer

St. Jimmy 05-24-2012 08:37 AM

Also, I fucking told you.

VSG 05-24-2012 08:41 AM

Really? 1.214 vs 1.3?

Also, Extreme Rules estimated to have sold more than double the number from last year so all's well.

St. Jimmy 05-24-2012 08:42 AM

Extreme Rules bombed non-domestically, which was another setback

VSG 05-24-2012 08:45 AM

The international buy for Extreme Rules is supposedly almost the entire buy from last year. Pray explain your point.

FFS, if I expect $250 for my birthday and I only get $200 I'd still be pretty happy especially if I've really only ever gotten $150 prior.

Gertner 05-24-2012 04:56 PM

Extreme Rules last year did 104,000 buys. This year it did 254,000.

Blow me you fat indy pig.
