Valve, give me something with a 3 you fucks! L4D3, HL3, Episode 3.
|
Will be helping as usual. Epic copy-pasta ahead. Will probably tab all hi-res pics by default since this time of year gets media heavy and pages will load like snails.
Hope we get a lot of WiiU info this year, as well as this Nintendo Network. Bungies new game would be nice. |
|

Also, I'd love to hear news on TimeSplitters 4, but I know I've got more chance of winning the lottery, than that happening. |
Timesplitters 4 was officially canceled a few weeks ago I believe. Well "not in development" anyway.
|
Also looking forward to Fifa 13, and hopefully some info on the new splinter cell.

Not actually hyped for E3 at all, which could be a good thing. Was pretty pumped going into the last two years and they disappointed for the most part. Might be pleasantly surprised here. |

No idea what I'm hoping for. Whatever, really. I can't say I have a wishlist or anything. I'm hoping someone can post links to live feeds, when they get set up and stuff. Nintendo and MS usually do streams from their sites. Just have to wait for them to put the page up. |
Don't get me wrong, I would love to see TimeSplitters 4. But I don't think it'll happen anytime soon :'(
|
Castlevania Lord of Shadows 2 confirmed to be getting its debut at this year's E3.
http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...shadow-sequel/ Sony currently rumored to be adding in a new streaming and cloud gaming service for the PS3 and upcoming PS4 with an official announcement occurring at E3. Its expected to be a partnership with Gaikai or OnLive to provide the service. http://n4g.com/news/1003520/rumour-s...ing-deal-at-e3 |
Nice. Lords of Shadow was a fantastic game and got left on a cliffhanger.
Hope they get the voice cast back for a 2nd go around. |
Jet Set Radio is getting a PS Vita version and will be shown off at E3 by Sega.
http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...ystation-vita/ A new Harry Potter game for Kinect was confirmed and will be shown at E3. http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...ect-announced/ The title screen and some footage for the E3 demo of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance was discovered as an Easter Egg in the game's website. http://www.screwattack.com/news/meta...een-shown-what Capcom teases they are planning a huge announcement for E3 and it involves the same team who worked on Street Fighter X Tekken. http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...ases-e3-plans/ A new Star Wars game confirmed to debut at E3 with a teaser being shown on May 29 and primarily is about Bobba Fett. http://www.spike.com/press/2012/05/2...ame-franchise/ |
Early rumors about Darkstalkers 4 said it would use a modified SFxT engine.
|
Hope the Boba Fett game is good. Bounty Hunter was pretty decent back in the day.
Just wish they'd finish Battlefront 3 already. No idea why they seemingly don't want to capitalize on one of the best selling star wars games of all time. |
Blame Lucas Arts since according to Free Radical, the management for the studio is basically incompetent and forced both the project to be canned and the company itself had to restructure itself just so it wouldn't collapse from its own stupidity at the time.
|
Battlefront 2 was Jesus.
|
Yeah it was, but being on PS2, I only ever played offline. Would love to Tie Bomber some real life players. Plus, that ground to space transition in the cancelled version was fucking sick.
Guess I'll have to get by with that EVE MMO shooter that's coming out. |
If you see Battlefront 2 on a Steam sale, grab it. The servers are still pretty damn busy and it works fine in Windows 7.
|
And don't get your hopes too high about that EVE FPS. The devs have a reputation for promising the world and delivering an ice cream sundae.
Sure, an ice cream sundae is delightful, BUT THEY SAID YOU COULD HAVE THE WORLD. |
I played it online only a few times. It was pretty cool, especially the space battles (my favorite portion). It's my favorite Star Wars game.
|
Must be pretty sweet on PC, with the 64 player battles.
Still don't know why today's consoles can't replicate that, especially with shit like MAG out there. |
They could if they wanted, but it's lower down on the priorities behind making it look as flashy as possible so then the consoles can't handle all those detailed models on screen at once.
|
MAG looks pretty damn good, and it has up to 256 player battles.
Best is when the DLC came out and you could have 3 factions at once in one battle. Highly underrated game. Does need more vehicles though. |
No Bungie nor anything about their "Destiny" project will occur at E3.

Another Need for Speed game is getting the remake treatment as Need for Speed: Most Wanted is getting a remake announced for E3 according to EA. The weird thing is the game was released originally on the Xbox 360 (along with last gen consoles, mobile devices, and handhelds).

That's not weird at all these days.

I loved Most Wanted, I hope they do it justice.

What I want to know is how I'm supposed to pronounce "Jean". Is it Jean as in "look at my cool new jeans" or is it Jean as as Jean Claude?
|

Jean as in 'Gene', not the French sound though I've gotten that and I never mind. My Haitian name is Jean-Carl, where the French version is appropriate (exclusive ti my father's side of the family, though).
|
I thought that was how it was said. You should use the French pronounciation when you're talking to a girl.
The whole French = appealing thing. |

No Rockstar at this E3 either.

CCP have a history of being one of the best MMO developers around due to listening to their players and admitting mistakes when no other MMO companies would typically do that. They are way ahead of the curve when it comes to this genre. At one point, they -completely- overhauled the game's graphics in order to stay modern and compete. Took forever, released over several expansions, but fuck if it didn't come together at the end and look absolutely gorgeous. They have a vision that they stick to. Their publisher went belly up before the game released, and they worked without pay for over half a year in order to finish the game and get it out there. To add insult to injury, the publisher took the box rights to the game, so they had to sell it by digital download ONLY for over half of the game's life. They built an empire from nothing, and managed to top 400k subscriptions this year and are still on a slow and steady rise. Literally the only MMO on the market that has yet to peak in subscriptions, and that's after 11 years. Not bad for a niche game. There is only a single major feature that was promised and not delivered on - Walking In Stations. And it was their own playerbase that caused them to shelve it after players rioted over an internal newsletter and demanded that CCP refocus back on things that mattered to them. So they did. DUST 514 is going to be fantastic. Have you missed the Fanfest gameplay videos and presentations about weapons/vehicles/fittings/roles? Looks incredible. Certainly wont be a game that appeals to the typical short attention span CoD gamers, but I have no issues with that at all. They've said outright that they are -prepared- for it to tank at launch, and plan on nurturing a long term player base with constant content/feature updates for years to come. This is the -only- gaming company in the industry that I actually trust when they say something like that. As far as what they've promised for DUST - they've already shown the live planet bombardment a couple times, where a ship in EVE can bombard a planet from orbit and it happens in real-time in DUST. Games are going to be linked, and they've already said what they will and won't be able to have in at launch, and what they plan on doing after launch. Again, only company I trust when they say they're going to do something. The game is going to be ENTIRELY free with an optional cash shop that they've stated will NOT feature 'pay-to-win' items. Going to be awesome that day one, I can download the game for free and just start playing. Didn't mean for that to be so long, but CCP is quality. They make gaffs from time to time, but fuck if they don't try to make up for it. Other companies should look to them as an example of what to do. Their employees genuinely seem to love the company as well. They actually learn from mistakes, listen to their players, and aren't afraid to take REAL chances if it means a truly unique experience. Really hope that one day, they are a giant of the industry and start making a whole slew of other games outside of just MMOs. Love their vision and their business model. |
What games have they made besides EVE?
|
I read the first 2 paragraphs. CCP are awesome, but from long-time EVE players, they mostly are commended for their commitment to not making rules and letting players make the rules, even when it comes to conning people out of ships. But their actual promised upgrades haven't delivered nearly what they promised.
This is a 2 year old perspective, mind you. Most people I know that played it have stopped now. |
Quote:
They have done an amazing job with EVE though in 11 years. Like I said, it is the only MMO on the market to consistently rise in subscriptions and not yet peak. Having followed them for about 6 or 7 years now, I have all the faith in the world for them to produce a quality title and continue to strive for excellence. The day they become a publicly traded company and have to answer to share holders is the day I will start to worry, if that day ever comes. |
Quote:
They have delivered plenty, and when it looked like they weren't, the players organized a riot and started mass cancelling subscriptions. It resulted in the direct restructuring of teams within CCP, and a massive shift in company motto, as well as the firing and reassignment of a large amount of people. Again, their mistakes led to them realizing they lost focus, so they listened to what their players wanted, and went back to making internet spaceships the main priority. Since then, they've climbed back up to even higher subscription numbers than before it happened. Hell, there is even a council of players elected by the playerbase which has been utilized in communicating player desires to the development team. They get flown to Iceland once or twice a year to meet with CCP and discuss the direction of the game and bring issues to their attention. How many companies would allow their players to have that big of an impact on what happens in the game? Sure, CCP has the final word in what goes in or not, but that is some real effort put into listening to player suggestions. This is why they deserve to be a giant. They put big companies like EA/Activision to shame with how much they care about the quality of their product. |
Konami announces they will be holding a pre-E3 press conference like the previous 2 years with this year's occurring on May 31.
http://www.giantbomb.com/news/praise...nference/4174/ Ubisoft releases pre-E3 teaser trailer for Far Cry 3 and also announce they have a lot of important announcements ready for the game at E3. http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...easer-trailer/ Quantic Dream's first project since Heavy Rain is expected to have its official debut at E3. http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...evealed-at-e3/ |
The best thing about E3 is Giant Bomb late night live shows every day with crazy amounts of good guests talking about stuff from the show. The only reason I continue to watch E3 is that I continue to get laid off right before it happens :/
|
It would be better if you always got laid right before it happens. I'd watch it every year then too.
|
|
I should clarify Req, I wasn't saying I read 2 paragraphs because you typed to much, it was mostly because I was very drunk when I typed that and I decided to post after I read that.

Apologies then for jumping on you. Was just kind of a "...really, come on :(" kind of comment when I read it.

Who in their right mind would want to play Metroid Other M 2?

I might very likely get a console for gaming this summer (finally looks like I will have time to game again) and I am waiting to see if something new comes up. Any chances?

A new 3D Mario Bros game for a console (Wii or Wii U) GTA V info of some kind. Anything but "PS3 exclusive" will be great. Capcom confirming that Megaman Legends 3 is coming to XBLA/Wii/Wii U (Let me dream!) A new Wario game. NOT Warioware. Wario Land, Wario World, Wario Bros would all be great. A Wario & Waluigi game would be be a "mark out moment" but it wont happen because Nintendo hates Waluigi. New Banjo-Kazooie platformer New Killer Instinct or a re-release of the old ones on XBLA or as a "collection" disc. Super Smash Bros 4 trailer and new character reveals. At least one character that's a genuine "Woah!" moment. A decent console RTS like Simcity, Theme Hospital, Populous etc. Anything else I can think of is really "out there" wishlist type stuff. I'm aware a lot of it is unlikely. I'm sure we'll get Annual FPS 2013, The Other Annual FPS 2013 and Annual FPS 2013 Outerspace Edition. :| |

Only ones I can see happening is the GTA V news and the annual shooters since those already got confirmed. Maybe a new Mega Man game but not Legends considering the teaser Capcom released today of "Remember Me."
At this point, anything not Kinect related from RARE is never happening nor anything they worked on the past unless Microsoft has 4J Studios working on it. |
All I'm honestly looking forward to is Nintendo's network details, TF: Fall of Cybertron multiplayer details, Halo 4 multiplayer details, Battlefield 3's Armor Kill map reveal, a fighting game from Capcom, and Tekken Tag 2's 4plyr reveal.
|
The Castlevania 3DS game is bullshit, btw.
|
Quote:
What teaser? KI is so unlikely I'd have been as well not bringing it up. Banjo is a very slim chance but if they do announce some kind of new console, I could see them bringing out Banjo for that. |
http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/28/ca...e-remember-me/
Seems to be a split between places saying its a new series, a potential new Mega Man game, or a return of a long forgotten franchise similar to Nintendo bringing Kid Icarus back after 20+ years. |
If it's a return, it might be Captain Commando. "Remember me" could be some kind of hook for the game.
If it's a new game actually called Remember Me, I'm thinking it sounds like one of those Ico style "art" games but sad. You play as a small girl who lost her memory after a car crash killed her parents and you explore your house, interacting with certain items of furniture or toys triggering memories of your parents. etc etc. |
E3 trailer released for Hitman Absolution and it might give clues to the story involving Agent 47 in the game.

I've been pretty pumped about Sleeping Dogs. An open world game that mixes gunplay with a good hand to hand combat system? Yes please.
|
New Gears of War game to be debuted during E3. The only catch is most of the details won't occur at E3 but instead during the July issue of Game Informer.
http://www.destructoid.com/new-gears...3-228368.phtml |
Anybody know if there's going to be more details on Grand Theft Auto V?
|
New Splinter Cell called "Splinter Cell: Black List" rumored to be debuted during E3.
http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...nounced-at-e3/ Sega reveals their entire E3 lineup of games and will also be providing details in regards to Gearbox's Aliens game (they publish it). http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...-2012-line-up/ |
Hope Ubisoft doesn't listen to the mewling fanboys and make it like the old Splinter Cells. By the time Double Agent came around, I was a bit tired of the "traditional" SP gameplay. Conviction was a breath of fresh air, and a blast to play. Must have gone through the Deniable Ops stuff hundreds of times by now.

Dishonored is a Bethesda game.
Sleeping Dogs is the game that used to be True Crime: Hong Kong. |
Really feels like there's not much point watching the 3rd party conferences. They've pre-announced everything.
|
Nintendo has a Wii U presentation today on their Facebook page. I doubt we'll get anything huge out of it but, still.
Watch it here. 6PM ET/3PM PT/11PM GMT |
The small video the showed revealed the new design of the Wii U pad, which they call the Wii U Gamepad. They showed the "hardcore" alternative to it which is a 360 controller with the right stick and face buttons switched around.
There was other stuff but I see Meatball is here so he'll probably fill in the rest, I'm tired. |
|
Highlights from Nintendo's pre-E3 Direct show: http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/03/n...ence-liveblog/
* Basically a new controller was announced called the Wii U Pro and its similar to the Xbox 360 controller and Classic Pro controller. * The tablet controller has been redesigned to offer more comfort when holding especially the back grips * Multiple colors promised at launch (at least White and Black confirmed). * Miis now act very similar to the friends list on Xbox Live where you can talk and see what others are doing * Miis also will appear in a lot more games now but players have the option to disable them for certain games or when they feel like it. * Tablet can be used to have messages appear either as text or hand drawn like the DS/3DS message chatting * Heavy emphasis on "social media" and interaction to go along with a huge rehaul of the online system as part of the huge emphasis on the new Nintendo Network |
Pro controller lets me know the tablet won't be tacked on to too many games. Very nice.
|
Yeah makes it feel like Nintendo is continuing the same thinking with the Classic Controller in giving more options for developers when they make the games like with the Wii having the Wii mote, Classic controller, and Gamecube.
|
When they said that we could see the Miis of everyone in our region under the tile that represents the game they are playing and we saw the speech bubbles popping up with doodles in them, my first thought was that all we'll see is drawings of penises popping up every 5 seconds.
I'm not sure about the Pro controller having the face buttons where they are. I can imagin it being a little awkward. Then again, people say that about pretty much every Nintendo controller until they actually use it. |
Has anyone mentioned the NFC or whatever reader on the Wii U pad? You put certain things on it and it can read or write info. They mentioned action figures.
Also, if you missed the Oscar worthy video Nintendo showed: <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/a2HxfI1mAXg?version=3&feature=player_detailpage"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/a2HxfI1mAXg?version=3&feature=player_detailpage" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360"></object> |
Quote:
I like that it's shaped like the 360 controller for comfort, but I'm not sure about the placement of the right analog stick. Seems weird. |
That's my only concern with it too.
|
The Pro controller basically being the tablet without the screen fills me with hope that it will get proper support unlike the classic controller. So many games with tacked on motion controls just didn't use the classic controller/Gamecube controller even though it would have been better.
