2012-13 Fall TV Thread

Okay TPWW. It's almost that time of year again. Fall TV returns.

As usual we ask the each other the questions:

What new shows you going to try out?

Which returning shows are excited to see?

Which shows are you giving up on?

Early predictions for who's getting the ax 2-3 episodes in, etc.

And of course, feel free to post your reviews of the new stuff you watch so that we can jump on your bandwagon or you jump off it.

For me (no spoilers, you should well aware of any cliffhangers or plots by now :foc:):

Sons of Anarchy: Jax is running the club while Clay is on the bench licking is wounds. But where's Opie?

NCIS: The Tony/Ziva hook-up better happen this season. Hope Ducky don't die. :'(

Vegas: Gonna give this a try. Dennis Quaid making the jump to the small screen is pretty big. But gangsters + Las Vegas = win.

Criminal Minds: Jeanne Tripplehorn steps in for Paget Brewster. She's got big shoes to fill so I hope she can deliver.

Castle: Castle and Beckett finally got together. Maybe NCIS should take a couple notes.

The Mob Doctor: With House gone, FOX got nothing going for me. But I might try this. They're saying it's pretty edgy.

Early cancellation prediction: Last Resort. ABC is gonna try again to capitalize on the phenomenon that was Lost. NBC tried with The Event and that didn't work out. I don't think lightning is gonna strike twice for the gang at the alphabet network.

Alright. I know we got some Fringe fanatics here who can't wait for the final season to get their answers. And you superhero suckers who are gonna give Arrow a try. I wanna hear from you.

Lock Jaw 08-05-2012 05:47 PM

I will give Arrow a try, probably will not last.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/JwfCRAtkYEI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

This looks like it could be badass. Will definitely try it.

VSG 08-05-2012 07:39 PM

Fringe is the only one I am genuinely glad to see, frankly.

Schlomey 08-05-2012 09:56 PM

Well the two that come to kind are the Matthew perry sitcom and that animal hospital one....neither look great but the matthew perry one I hope will be better than it looks.

Lock Jaw 08-05-2012 10:58 PM

ANIMAL HOSPITAL?!

Tazz Dan 08-06-2012 07:14 AM

Dexter and SOA for me. I'm not sure what else is due back on your screens though. Suits has been good so far too :y:

Schlomey 08-06-2012 11:52 AM

I'm just happy that The Office got renewed and we get some closure.

I just finished re-watching season 7. The end of Michael Scott. He promised Erin that she could call him at any time...I really hope that before the end of the run we get a Michael Scott reunion....

<3 Justin Kirk

SlickyTrickyDamon 08-06-2012 09:10 PM

Psych should be back soon too. You know that's right.

Why are there so many Sherlock Holmes shows now? Is it just because House ended and people want more Sherlock mysteries except not done well?

ClockShot 08-06-2012 09:21 PM

Psych usually shows up around early winter, doesn't it?

ClockShot 08-21-2012 05:08 PM

The Office fans, this season will be the last.

Gertner 08-21-2012 07:45 PM

The Office and Boardwalk Empire are must watches.

ClockShot 08-21-2012 08:43 PM

Michael Strahan is reported to be offically named as Regis' replacement on Live with Kelly.

Thoughts from Big Blue Nation and viewers of a.m. talk shows?

Jura 08-23-2012 06:23 PM

This show is so offbeat but kind of awesome.

Looking forward to Vegas. The 1960s is a hot time period to depict on TV. See Mad Men.

I really enjoyed this. Huge Eddie Izzard mark

ClockShot 08-29-2012 06:50 PM

FX orders 90 episodes of Charlie Sheen's Anger Management.

Jumping the gun a bit?

Schlomey 08-29-2012 08:08 PM

Jj Abraham's new show Revolution looks tight.

I think it was in his contract that if they pick it up for a second season it automatically guarantees 90 episodes. Tyler Perry has the same deal with TBS.

Tommy Gunn 08-30-2012 06:22 AM

I'm interested in Revolution, but I've been burned by projects by Lost writers / producers before, I'm looking at you Once Upon A Time.

Heroes season 3 and 4. I feel ya.

Lock Jaw 08-30-2012 12:30 PM

I enjoyed Once Upon A Time. I didn't like where they went with the end of the season, though. I will still watch the second one.

Corporate CockSnogger 08-30-2012 01:21 PM

I enjoyed it for the most part but Emma is a pretty bad main character. Seemed like she was just doing and saying the exact same things every episode.

ClockShot 09-11-2012 12:16 PM

Fall tv begins tonight with Sons of Anarchy.

WHO'S WATCHING?

MVP 09-11-2012 12:19 PM

This guy :D

loopydate 09-11-2012 07:57 PM

Go On was decent. Not spectacular, but a good fit for Matthew Perry and a fun concept.

Schlomey 09-11-2012 08:50 PM

Revolution was friggin awesome.

Lock Jaw 09-11-2012 08:56 PM

I thought it doesn't start until next week?

SlickyTrickyDamon 09-11-2012 09:30 PM

Its on on-Demand.

Hulu but I have plus

Skippord 09-12-2012 02:37 AM

watching Revolution now, pretty sure it's gonna suck, but hopefully not

Skippord 09-12-2012 02:38 AM

nevermind Juliet's on it, it's gonna be awesome

Skippord 09-12-2012 03:29 AM

I enjoyed it

Billy Burke is very charismatic and the main girl is pretty badass and ludicrously attractive. Will watch it until it is cancelled 3 weeks from now.

Corporate CockSnogger 09-12-2012 11:18 AM

What? I'm definitely watching.

Corporate CockSnogger 09-12-2012 11:19 AM

From a trailer I saw like 6 months ago or something it looked like it was centered mostly around a group of teenagers. Didn't really appeal to me. Is it centered mostly around a group of teenagers?

Skippord 09-12-2012 05:20 PM

Juliet plays the main girl's mom, but I guess she'll only be in it in flashbacks.

And it's really centered around this family with that main teenage girl, her stepmother, her uncle, and one of her dad's friends trying to get the girl's brother back as well as figure out how to stop the power outage. That guy from The Cape appears to be the villain and Gus from Breaking Bad also is in it as a villain.

I would give it a watch I guess.

dronepool 09-13-2012 12:23 AM

Dexter
Walking Dead
South Park

SlickyTrickyDamon 09-13-2012 02:51 AM

Just watched half of some new show on NBC. The show seemed like crap, but Meadow Soprano was looking hot as hell.

Revolution looked pretty good. Sort of wish they didn't include the last scene of the episode. Thought we'd have to wait a bit for something like that.

Lock Jaw 09-13-2012 02:50 PM

Watched the Revolution pilot. I enjoyed it. Only thing I dislike about it is Nate. Dude seems like a giant cliche of a character.

Corporate CockSnogger 09-14-2012 07:47 AM

I watched Revolution last night and thought it was okay. Only Giancarlo Esposito's character had any sort of appeal to me really. Billy Burke was good as well when he was just talking but then the whole superhero act kinda put me off a bit.

I'll probably keep checking it out for a while because I like the concept but it all looks a bit by the numbers at the moment.

MVP 09-14-2012 09:02 AM

Gonna have to check out this Revolution show based on all the talk about it.

Lock Jaw 09-21-2012 09:12 PM

Watched the pilot of "Last Resort". Wasn't really planning on checking the show out, but I was bored.

Seems like a very weird series. Might check out the second episode, just because it has Autumn Reeser, and that one Australian chick from Dollhouse in it.

CSL 09-21-2012 09:15 PM

I quite liked Last Resort, mainly because I'm a mark for anything that involves Andre Braugher chewing up the screen/dominating every scene. Revolution had a good premise then I saw the trailer and that's getting cancelled/just looks bad despite Gustav Fring. Animal Practice with the funny guy from Weeds was alright. Go On is "sweet" and has it's funny moments but maybe this is because I like John Cho and Matthew Perry, dunno.

Jura 09-23-2012 06:12 PM

Revolution reminds me of the Fallout games a little.

Lock Jaw 09-23-2012 11:22 PM

Never even heard of this "Homeland" show that won Emmy for Best Dramatic Series

Schlomey 09-23-2012 11:25 PM

Best new show so far is go on. Revolution second. Everything else is a distant third.

Schlomey 09-23-2012 11:26 PM

I want to like the new normal but it has put me to sleep the last two weeks...literally. Can't even stay awake until parenthood starts for god sake.

Skippord 09-24-2012 12:34 AM

I recorded the first episode of Homeland and then never watched it, because I am a retard

NBC's Go On, The New Normal, and Revolution have been given full seasons this year.

MVP 10-03-2012 08:49 AM

That's good news. I've enjoyed Revolution so far.

Juan 10-03-2012 11:52 PM

I'm happy for Matthew Perry :y:

SlickyTrickyDamon 10-04-2012 12:40 AM

Yeah, cause you can never have enough millions of dollars.

Juan 10-04-2012 12:53 AM

By that logic, no one in Hollywood would ever work again after a few movies.

SlickyTrickyDamon 10-04-2012 01:34 AM

Just bought Colbert's new book! It's in 3-D!!!!

ClockShot 10-10-2012 05:29 PM

And our first casulalty of the season is.....................

Made in Jersey.

CBS cancels the show after 2 episodes.

Innovator 10-11-2012 11:26 AM

Good, show sucked.

Schlomey 10-11-2012 11:39 AM

Congrats to Go On. I think it's the best new show on TV.

Hanso Amore 10-11-2012 11:44 AM

5th times a charm for Chandler Bing

Tommy Gunn 10-12-2012 05:49 AM

The first 2 new episodes of Supernatural have felt a bit, who cares. Hope the writing improves.

Schlomey 10-12-2012 02:57 PM

Watching Arrow, about 20 minutes in, LOVING this show already.

Dark-Slicer Diago 10-12-2012 06:28 PM

Watched Arrow yesterday, loved it, one of the best lines in my mind was when he said "What's Twilight", to the response of "You're better off not knowing".

The Office was pretty funny this week. Kevin was amazing.

ClockShot 10-20-2012 08:54 PM

Tried watching Nikita last night. Seemed pretty cool what they're doing with it.

Ratings sucked, however. I'm hoping it don't get the ax, I want it to give it a chance to build.

Showtime renews Homeland for a third season.

CW gives Arrow a full season.

ClockShot 10-23-2012 05:42 PM

G4 cancels Attack of the Show AND X-Play. Both shows will end production at the end of the year.

Wow.

Jura 10-27-2012 05:39 PM

I don't have G4 but aren't those two shows their primary shows?

ClockShot 10-27-2012 09:17 PM

Pretty much. Besides coverage of E3, Comic-Con, and a few shows here and there. That was it. Hell, I don't think Cheat is on anymore.

But, I think most of us knew that once Munn and Pereira left AOTS, and Sessler left X-Play, they're were on borrowed time.

SlickyTrickyDamon 10-28-2012 03:33 PM

They are switching away from video games/tech and more into pop culture I think.

ClockShot 11-02-2012 06:45 PM

USA axes Common Law, Political Animals, and Fairly Legal.

ClockShot 11-08-2012 09:21 PM

There's a long shot that AMC might revive The Killing. They're gonna try to work out a deal with Netflix.

The chick on Fairly Legal was pretty hot though.

loopydate 11-09-2012 02:26 PM

It's weird, I probably watch USA more than any other non-ESPN network with Raw, White Collar, Suits, Burn Notice, and Psych, plus I also enjoyed Common Law and Political Animals.

jerichoholicninja 11-09-2012 07:59 PM

CW's Beauty & the Beast gets a full season. If anyone cares, that is.

CBS cancels Partners.

And after 10 seasons, American Chopper is wrapping up. Last episode is on December 11th. It's gonna be a live special called "Chopper: The Revenge". A 4-way bike build-off in Las Vegas with Jesse James coming back to challenge them.
