centipede hz by Animal Collective
how do you guys like the new album?
Kinda nervous to listen to it
Animal Collective is the biggest pile of pretentious hipster douchebag shit around
I've never even heard of this crap. I'm sure it sucks though.
I like it I think, after 1st listen. Sorta just sounds like an "Avey Tare" album though, but better. I think I "immediately" liked all their other albums so idk.
applesauce my fav song i think

I liked it better the 1st time i heard it........... when it was on vinyl.......
i like their next album more but you probably havent heard it yet
i havent even heard it yet |
Hipsters are jokes in general
HIPSTERSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
I like it. Can't wait for a better quality version though. The two panda bear tracks are great especially new town burnout and the drumming is really cool.
Oh good @ better quality, it does just sound like a "96kbps webrip" or something. Thought that's just how it would be, "underproduced" and stuff. But good. I like when it is produced a lot.
Yeah I bought today's supernatural on itunes like some 14 year old. and the difference between that and the webrip is huge.
New Town Burnout is prob my fav but I've only given it "one listen through"
Most of my favorite AC songs took a long time to swirl around in my brain before making sense |
Until I listen to this on acid/on 3 days without sleep, I'm giving it an 8.5/10
on the animal collective scale of music metrics

Please submit more because they're all so varied. |

You see, it's funny because the hipster community is more narrow and rigid than the mainstream they claim to eschew! |
Are u saying that the majority of the entire world is more varied than a cliche of people with similar interests

I guess making sense is too "mainstream."

I don't know. If you can't be arsed to explain why should I be arsed to care?

Shocking that a group of hipsters managed to accomplish nothing, except live off non-hipsters.

HIPSTERS

Not supposed to. Just pointing out the truth.

I'm actually going to deny someone welfare tomorrow just because.
Anyways, ta ta. |

i dont give a shit that some fat basement dwelling unemployed dude who is miserable and claims to be a freelance journalist and some douchebag canadian hick club-going bloghaus bro who posts stupid shit just to piss people off want to post "hipster" take-downs or something |

lol @ everyone after this turned into "hipsters suck"
Honestly Kane Knight I realize you are a really messed up human being in real life, but could you please shape up before I start deleting everything you post in this forum?
I am not a "hipster" nor do I care one way or the other about your views on "hipsters", but two things: a) You are the internet equivalent of a hipster, which is even worse than being a hipster, and b) you are not contributing anything to these threads other than pointless arguments that have nothing to do with music. With that, lets all continue our discussion of Centipede Hz by Animal Collective. Also everyone else trolling please kindly stop thanx |
Also, I don't understand how somebody with 148,000 posts, 95% of which consist of pure intellectual vanity, could possibly accuse anyone of being self promoting. That would just make them a hypocrite!

Please write about this in whatever fictional publication you submit your "freelance" work to. 148,000+ message board posts does not make a freelance journalist. |

I just don't care what you think. No go post that in your blog and don't forget to mention how much it hurts you.
Maybe if you can work in douchetagOWS while you're there.
Seriously dunno tho. Usually at this point I have figured out what they are going for with an album. Still kind of confused about Hz.
Going to see them on Sept. 20th, hopefully will "get it" by then. Feel like I like it less after each listen. Seems like they deconstructed everything that made MPP great and are going back to their more individualistic sonic roots. I mean granted I'm nothing more than a freelance music journalist that writes only for TPWW music forums, but so far I am still on the fence. Still better than 90% of what's come out this year tho. Need to wait for Pitchfork to review it before I can really make up my mind because I don't want to sound of out step with my demographic |
Sorta feel like I will never listen to it again besides that 1 song. I don't really like it that much. It is ok I guess.
I haven't spent much time with this album
Seeing em Oct 2nd |

CD just came in the mail, listening thru again with good headphones. We'll see what happens. Liking moonjock more already
This is seriously 1000x better. Wide Eyed sounds like a completely different song
All it took was one other hipster saying it was good and now I love it
I am feeling really good about this right now
AMANITAAA
ALSO: 3:00-4:00 section of New Town Burnout omg
This is a massive album to take in at once. Way more complex/dense than anything they have ever done
gonna listen to this all day while sitting on my apple laptop at hipster hangout cafe orwell in bushwick, brooklyn, new york
Are you going to Instagram yourself doing this?
forgot my headphones fuck
nooo

This album makes MPP sound like Beach House - Teen Dream (2010, Pitchforks BNM, #5 record of 2010, a personal favorite and a true hipster classic that I only have an opinion on because I've heard other hipsters talk about how its song structures are really simple and thats why Beach House is good) in terms of complexity and song structure.
Pretty sure this is why it has taken me so long to wrap my brain around it. Each song has at least 5 distinct parts, each part overblown with dozens of samples that somehow work together miraculously. But even with each song snaking into a different shape every few minutes, they all retain a core element which unifies the track all the way through.. |
