Andy Kaufman Returning?

WEST HOLLYWOOD — Andy Kaufman had said if he were going to
fake his own death he would return 20 years later to the day.

That would be Sunday, May 16th.

So, his pals have rented out the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip
in West Hollywood for that night in hopes he'll show up - along with
paying fans, of course.

Even if Andy Kaufman doesn't show, there will be a night of comedy
- with Rodney Dangerfield, Caroline Rhea, Bob Oedenkirk, Andy Dick,
wrestler Jerry Lawler & Paul Rudd (who plays Phoebe's husband Mike, on "Friends"),and others.

And, Bob Zmuda as Tony Clifton provides the musical entertainment.

Details are at www.comicrelief.org

Andy's laughing it up with Tupac and Elvis.

Rob 05-08-2004 11:31 PM

If he shows, I'll eat this keyboard.

Then I'll call up Owen Hart, Tupac and Elvis for a chat.

You'd laugh just as much either way.

Dave Youell 05-09-2004 06:49 AM

Mr. Nerfect 05-09-2004 07:13 AM

His friends and family have hopes, so why can't we. If he's still alive, :y: if not, Rest in Peace :(.

don't know if it's holding out hope that your family member played a sick trick on your ass. :p

AareDub 05-09-2004 01:00 PM

 Crazy stuff.

Innovator 05-09-2004 03:28 PM

Kaufman would return, see Andy Dick there, and walk away

da_king 05-09-2004 03:46 PM

I thought of that. First I'd be all :y: then all  for holding out on me.

Of course, that's Kaufman's style, too. He's a genius.

Rob 05-09-2004 06:43 PM

My keyboard is still here by the way.

#1-norm-fan 05-11-2004 04:32 AM

They were talking about this on Don and Mike today. Zmuda doesn't even honestly think he'll show but it should be good times anyway. I should watch Man on the Moon or something. :y:

Rob 05-22-2004 03:42 PM

Ok why did I just read on Yahoo he returned?

#1-norm-fan 05-22-2004 04:37 PM

link?

#1-norm-fan 05-22-2004 04:42 PM

Seriously. If he did return and the only thing that reported it was a small blurb on Yahoo... it's probably be best to just stay out of the limelight from now on.

The Naitch 05-22-2004 07:08 PM

yeah I read that too. I wonder what Jim Carrey thinks about this whole situation?

Disturbed316 05-22-2004 07:13 PM

Crazy stuff

Loose Cannon 05-22-2004 07:15 PM

Wait a fricken second here. Is this true or what?

Disturbed316 05-22-2004 07:18 PM

Seems to be

The Naitch 05-22-2004 07:18 PM

Isnt faking your own death a crime?

Kane Knight 05-22-2004 07:19 PM

Depends.

The Naitch 05-22-2004 07:22 PM

I'd laugh if Kauffman went to jail. Think about it. He finally "comes back" to life. Then the next thing he knows, he's spending a good part of what's left of his life, in jail.

Disturbed316 05-22-2004 07:24 PM

Isn't it only a crime if you do it as part of an insurrence scam? or something?

I wonder if the last laugh would be worth it.

Yeah, basically if your only intent is to defraud or something.

The Naitch 05-22-2004 07:27 PM

He'd probably be the most popular guy in jail anyways, in a non-ass rape kinda way. A win win situation.

Mr. JL 05-22-2004 07:29 PM

This is F'd up.

Well if it's true, that's classic Kauffman right there. I love that guy.

Rob 05-22-2004 08:37 PM

He says some people will think it's a hoax though. We'll soon see for sure I guess.

#1-norm-fan 05-23-2004 01:19 AM

WTF!? How does this get on Yahoo and all? Crazy.

#1-norm-fan 05-23-2004 01:21 AM

lol @ some of the quotes. His mom says "It's good to have Andy back."

KayfabeMan 05-23-2004 06:54 AM

Disturbed316 05-23-2004 04:25 PM

What did he 'die' of?

Rob 05-23-2004 04:29 PM

"Cancer"

Disturbed316 05-23-2004 04:32 PM

ta :y:

Kane Knight 05-23-2004 04:38 PM

I wouldn't be totally surprised if he was still alive. The guy was brilliant in his routines, from the more mundane to the totally crazy. If anyone could pull it off, it'd be Andy.

However, I've not seen enough to make me a believer.

Maybe the joke's on me, I don't care.

Nowhere Man 05-23-2004 05:55 PM

Andy Kaufman was a comedic genius. He could pull off a stunt and have the whole world playing right in the palm of his hand. Kaufman was truly a master of provocation.

But Andy Kaufman is also dead. Yeah, he did a lot of things that were tacky, but I doubt he'd be tasteless enough to mock cancer patients. I mean, he's not a McMahon.
