NFL 2013 Off-Season Thread
So with the playoffs set, what transactions do you want non playoff teams to make??
New coach?? Draft trades?? Free agent signings?? As far as the Saints are concerned, they def need to do something with Spags defense.. It seems we have the talent on every level (all 4 of our starting d-line are former first rounders) but his safe zone scheme doesn't work with who we have.. As much as I'd hate it, I can see them trading Pierre Thomas.. He has 2 years left on his deal for just under $3 mill a year.. Don;t get me wrong, the guy is a beast and is prolly one of the best screen RB's in the league, but I think we could keep Sproles, Ingram, Ivory, and Cadet.. I can also see getting rid of Devery Henderson.. He has been a great speedster and a big time deep threat for years but this was his last year on his contract and we have a younger, faster, deep threat in Joe Morgan.. Need to see if the NFL will repay any of the draft sanction they put on us, since they pretty much renigged on every other punishment they bought down.. So, what do you want yr team to do in preperation of the 2013 season?? |
Shurmur and Reid are done.
Bears fire Lovie Smith..
Andy Reid will go to Chicago now..
Saints need to sign Lovie as the D Coordinator..
Norv Turner and GM AJ Smith will be gone in SD
Chan Gailey gone.
Other than NFC South, the Saints play AFC East, NFC West, the Cowboys and the Bears..
Body Count:
Head Coaches Lovie-Bears Reid-Eagles Crennel-Chiefs Gailey-Bills Shurmur-Browns GM's Tannenbaum-Jets AJ Smith-Chargers |
Wouldn't be surprised if Andy Reid went to Cleveland for a fresh start. Lower expectations in Cleveland and he's got some solid talent to build on.
Jets surprisingly are keeping Rex Ryan.
Got rid of the OC and GM though.. I like Rex..
Andy Reid is rumoured to be flirting with Arizona. Lovie Smith in Kansas City/Philly are possiblities.
Ron Rivera better be packing his shit up. Mike Smith in Atlanta could be the surprise playoff Termination in an ungrateful Atlanta Georgia. |
I hope Dallas hires a good OC, gets the interior OL fixed, get at least 1 good safety in the draft/free agency, and get a good young QB to push Romo and prep for the future. The Cowboys have about a 5 year window (tops) with this core nucleus of guys. If Romo can't do better with a good OL and handle the pressure of a young QB nipping at his heels, it is time to move on.
I'd also like Jerry Jones to retire/die and fire Garrett, but those are both unlikely and really mean thoughts.
What You'll get, Steele, is a Romo Extension, Jerry Jones inventing a way to be immortal and run the Cowboys forever and another wide receiver in the draft.
Congratulations! Your team just became the Raiders. |
Fuck you...because it will probably become true. |
lol K4L Steele.
Niners finally waive Brandon Jacobs. No team can pick him up and play him during the playoffs. |
The Giants are obviously going to cut David Diehl, plus Will Beatty, Kevin Boothe, and Sean Locklear are all free agents. I really think the Giants need to draft an offensive lineman (preferably a tackle) in the first round this year. It's been seriously overdue.
That being said, Jerry Reese never uses his first round pick to draft for need. He always goes for the highest player on his board regardless of position. As cliché as it is to say, a defensive end in the 1st again wouldn't surprise me as a good pass rush is the heart and soul of the Giants defense. Osi will leave via free agency and Tuck could potentially be cut. A lot of mocks have Mingo from LSU falling to the Giants. I'd love that actually. |
I'm going to be sad to see Diehl go. Dude was great for so long.
I really want the Jets to take Barkley at 15, just for the reaction of Jets fans getting another USC QB.
Reid in Chicago makes sense. He loves airing it out and maybe he can try to be the Holmgren to Cutler's Favre.
Since I'm really bored, here's my take on the Giants' impending free agents:
UNRESTRICTED -WR Ramses Barden: He actually showed some promise in the Carolina game but then wasn't really given anything to do the rest of the year. He'll go to another team and will probably get more playing time. -T Will Beatty: Would like to keep him, but admittedly I don't really know what other offensive tackles will be available in free agency. -TE Travis Beckum: Gone. Had a long TD against Green Bay last year. That's basically the only contribution he made in his entire Giants career. -TE Martellus Bennett: Would like to keep him. Supposedly he'd take a discount to stay. Nice red zone threat, also he could recruit his brother to sign as well. As a bonus - he gives hilarious interviews. -DT Rocky Bernard: Could go either way. He's not particularly good but depth along the defensive line never hurts. I imagine he's only looking for a 1 year contract. -LB Chase Blackburn: I love Chase and will always appreciate his interception in the Super Bowl last year. That being said he seems much better suited to special teams. Not sure who else is available to fill the hole at middle linebacker though. -G Kevin Boothe: Would like to keep him, he can play several positions and is pretty solid all around. -QB David Carr: I'd keep him. Why not? They're probably fucked if Eli ever gets hurt, but I'd rather have a veteran in an emergency instead of some rookie. -WR Domenik Hixon: Fair play to him for staying healthy. He's certainly not a bad guy to keep around for punt returns, but offensively his impact will be scaled back with Randle now clearly the #3 WR. -T Sean Locklear: He brings a nice veteran presence, I wouldn't mind keeping him around. -RB Kregg Lumpkin: Gone. Was only brought in for an emergency. -TE Bear Pascoe: Wouldn't mind keeping him just because he has an awesome name. -S Kenny Phillips: Unfortunately he's probably a goner. He's been maligned by injuries but is probably still in line for a big payday. Not sure he's in the Giants' price range. -LB Keith Rivers: He was decent when he played, but he just couldn't seem to stay on the field. I seem him ending up on another team. -DT Shaun Rogers: Forgot he was even on the roster. He might just retire. -RB Ryan Torain: Gone. Same exact deal as Kregg Lumpkin. -CB Justin Tryon: Most likely gone. He's not really anything more than depth. Got completely burned every time he was forced into the game. -K Lawrence Tynes: He doesn't have that strong of a leg, but I'm still pretty sure the Giants will keep him due to lack of options. Just can't see Reese drafting a kicker. -DE Osi Umenyiora: Easily gone. He's been asking for a significant pay raise for years and despite his age he'll finally get his chance to get it from another team. He came across as a huge asshole at times, but I'm still going to miss him. RESTRICTED -RB Andre Brown: Proved to be a solid goal line back, so he's worth keeping. Assuming Wilson is given more work next year, it could be a fun 3 RB system with Bradshaw, Brown, and Wilson. -S Stevie Brown: What a find this guy was. No way Reese doesn't keep him, especially with Phillips probably departing. -WR Victor Cruz: Slam dunk keeper here. He proved that 2011 was no fluke. I know the Giants' cap situation is tight, but I really hope they find a way to give him his much-deserved pay raise. |
Will Andy Reid keep Kevin Kolb?
And if so will that finally push Roxer and DaveWadding over the edge?
What is this bullshit? Season's not over, fuckheads.
K now the season's over
Congrats Droford, screech, and Rock Bottom on your team's big win. Also on behalf of Christians everywhere, I apologize for Ray Lewis' antics. We're not all like that. Some of us are actually quite nice. |
you mean you don't all seek out cameras to cry into?
sounds like bullshit to me |
All things are possible.
With God, I mean.
All things are possible with God.
Without him... well you saw the game last night.
Bunch of heathens from New Orleans and a bunch of super heathens from San Francisco get together. That blackout was no accident. |
Eagles set to sign Dennis Dixon very soon, according to local radio.
Guess that squashes the Alex Smith rumors. |
If I were Alex Smith, I'd be pushing for a trade to KC. The fan base would be welcoming, Andy Reid is the coach and there are some pretty good offensive weapons with Jamaal Charles and Dwayne Bowe (assuming he reups or is franchised).
I could see him doing well in KC, also.
Pointless post kinda, but we sell stylus pens now and I wanted to test one. Works!
-Colts trade for Darrell Revis
Jets should trade Revis to the Niners for Alex Smith and 2nd round pick. Now. Please. So I can stop crying.
-Saints sign Revis and Reed
I think the Ravens will probably get flacco to sign a back loaded contract in such that they'll be able to keep ed reed and boldin
The Ravens are going to spend way too much money on Trent Dilfer/Brad Johnson/Joe Flacco now, methinks.
To be fair, neither Dilfer or Johnson had the arm Flacco has.. Sure, he is a mouth breather with a unibrow but he is a better passer than just being a "don't turn the ball over" QB..
I know. I'm just being bitter. They are going to pay him too much though.
Eric Decker, and two 2nd rounders for Revis. It may seem low, but in the NFL you very rarely ever see 1st round picks traded unless it is around the time of the draft and teams are swapping spots.
It's going to be interesting to see the Giants in the offseason. They have a get rid of a lot of cap, but need to address a lot of areas.

Fuck I hate the 9ers.. |
My official theory on the power outage is now that some 49ers fan drunk at a buffalo wild wings got pissed and asked the people there to throw the power switch under the bar to help the 49ers
I get that reference!
Entirely possible. |
God I can't believe how much Joey Flax impressed me this postseason. I'm as big a Ravens hater as anybody (non-owenbrown division) but that guy lit it up.
Hope the Ravens overpay him and he never repeats his success but that nigga earned his $$$ |
Don't know a single person who has ever called flacco "flax"
Shout out to my nigga Joey "Crack Rox" RoXer
go Rams

I'm just hoping Atlanta focuses on the defensive side of the ball this offseason, particularly at DE. Having Grimes back should definitely help the secondary. Either way the NFC is going to be a war zone next year. |
Vito, do you want the start the yearly push for the Giants to get a LB or do you want me to?

Dolphins better get a mint WR/DB.
I think the only WR/DB available this year is Julian Edelman.
oh snapple
A QB in Jax. :-\
I really do think the Colts might move for Revis. Revis and Vontae Davis would be the best CB duo in the league. Davis was quietly outstanding last year . Especially towards the end of the year when it really counted.
True, but that probably won't stop Revis from demanding to be the highest paid defensive player in the league and with a young team that did manage to make the playoffs, I don't know if it makes sense to tie up salary cap space on one player.
There are also some good CB prospects in the draft that the Colts could get at a favorable salary and no complaining for the duration of that first contract under the new CBA. |
Think Revis is demanding something around the range of 6 years, $100 million for any new deal which is why the Jets are trying to trade him.
Kaepernick isn't taking a break this offseason. He's getting to work.
Giants release Michael Boley.
It lost a tooth and got his lazy eye fixed.
Saints expected to hire Rob Ryan as their new defensive coordinator. Rams previously had hired him but ended up letting him go a few days later due to problems of making his schemes fit the team.

Rob Ryan is officially the Saints new defensive coordinator. To be honest, I really like Rob Ryan and think he will find some way to add to the lore of the Falcons/Saints rivalry.

The team on the other hand....:n: |

I see Diehl leaving, which sucks cause I have a soft spot for him. Webster will be asking too much for his level of play. Bradshaw is getting too much for too little. I think Reese will get Nicks and Cruz in, Beatty in, then work on everyone else. |
I think the challenge will be keeping a nucleus without gutting the whole squad. I really hope that they cut the dead weight. I have a soft spot for some of these guys that have been on the team since draft day too but when it's time it's time.

Still pretty heartbroken. Didn't leave that game thinking that the 9ers were the 2nd best team in the Superbowl. It felt like we won and then another team hijacked the field and started celebrating. :(

Reese getting to work early and often.
Giants release Ahmad Bradshaw and Chris Canty. |
Bradshaw would be a really good Colt for the right price. I love his fire. Him and Ballard would be a beautiful combo at RB.

I dont remember what happened, but i remember during this last season he got taken out or something because he was so fired up and it became a big story and I just remember thinking " I want that guy on my team " . I love that shit. I've always been a fan of Bradshaw.
Gregg Williams is reinstated and was hired by Tennessee.
I wonder how owenbrown feels about this..
Quote:
I'm guessing Wilson and Brown split carries next year, maybe Da'Rel Scott gets a proper chance to play as well. |
Cruz didn't hold a block long enough for him on a play that he could have busted, tapped Cruz on the back of the head.
Wonder who the Texans free agents are. Pollard, Leach and Jacob Jones would like another former Texan to join them lol
I see why they released Bradshaw, but it still seems weird you'd release a 1,000yd rusher who has busted his ass for you and produced.
Blame the hokie
Don't blame me.
Quote:
When Wilson and Brown got chances all of a sudden there was yardage to be had. The difference? Wilson and Brown often run the ball straight downhill. Bradshaw tries to be shifty when it isn't necessary. That aside, the guy has a great spirit. Great team guy. He can still go but not as a feature back because of continual injury concerns. |
Kinda hope Steelers pick up Bradshaw and drop Mendenhall's sorry ass
I hope the Steelers fuck off and die.
Personally, for the near future I'm over the Steelers in terms of being a threat in the afc north. Almost want to say they'll finish behind the Browns..
...and you ruined it.
You know who I want to have go fuck off and die? The patriots. Ravens have proven the last two years they're if not better at least equal to them and yet the national media goes back to slobbering all over tom brady...fuck them..when was the last time they won a super bowl? 8 fucking years ago.
