Bill Demott fired as head trainer of WWE Developmental

wrestlinginc.com is reporting Bill Demott has been fired as the head trainer of WWE Developmental and will be replaced by Billy Gunn.

Maybe all that negative publicity from that former trainee did Bill in.

whiteyford 01-12-2013 01:04 PM

There's been stories about DeMott for years, kinda surprised this hadn't happened sooner.

DeMott did nothing of note in his career, and was canned for being shit no doubt, but I hope he doesn't go MIA.

SEE WHAT I DID IWC!!

Think he was fired or demoted before but somehow managed to get his job right back.

Even managed to convince the WWE it was a bad idea to have an actual doctor as the head trainer and his style would be better even though more people have been injured since he was the boss than the doctor.

well time for him to go to tna and he can join taz and al snow and they can do the real tough enough.

James Steele 01-12-2013 06:28 PM

I wonder if Billy Gunn and Road Dogg have licked the underside of Triple H's cock enough to make him forget about that "shoot video" they did where they shit all over him because Triple H decided to break up DX and become a main event star/living legend/icon of the industry while they faded away into bitterness, obscurity, and drug-fueled mediocrity.

James Steele 01-12-2013 06:28 PM

Either way, this seems like a good move by WWE. Billy Gunn is the greatest King of the Ring of all time.

That is too predictable though. Everybody knows Mable is the shittiest KOTR ever. It is time guys like Billy Gunn, Ken Shamrock, and Sheamus get their due respects as uneventful and meaningless reigns as King of the Ring.

Shisen Kopf 01-12-2013 07:39 PM

Still think the WWF dropped the ball when he had the Mr Ass gimmick. They shoulda called him Bad Ass Billy Bum. Either that or Fluffy the emo straight edge. Parsons 4-life!

Sure, Bill DeMott has a bad reputation, but he invited Kevin Mathews to have lunch with him! That was a gentlemanly move! Well, maybe DeMott would have bolted to force Mathews to foot the entire bill rather than pay Double Dutch. And really, Kevin wanted to fight and Bill turned it into a request for a date, so Bill should pay both tabs anyway!

James Steele 01-12-2013 11:09 PM

I just don't understand why you'd hire a guy who never amounted to shit in the business as head trainer.

DeMott must have improved his backstage political skills after WCW. He competed with Hogan, Nash, etc. and hence learned from the best!

Curd 01-12-2013 11:23 PM

And the unwritten follow-up to Bill's invitation to date was him calling Kevin and singing "Call Me, Maybe!"

Curd 01-13-2013 02:15 AM

Watch your drink, Kevin, Bill has Rohypnol and he's not afraid to use it!

Billy Gunn as trainer I expect the selling in the ring to shoot through the roof no joke.

It's weird because they have a mixture of absolute greats and complete dumbasses who never even did anything great working for them.

Pretty glad in general to see this change. Bill DeMott sounds like a real bag of shit.

SNLfunnyguy 01-16-2013 06:26 PM

Bag of shit might be too much. Just not very talented. Career highlight was JR gushing over him at Royal Rumble 03.

Curd 01-17-2013 01:00 AM

Well, I guess getting squashed by Goldberg without getting injured counts for something. :shifty:

Wait, this definitely seems like it was like 6 months ago. We can't all just be having a weird problem with our concept of time on this one instance. This definitely wasn't 2 and a half years ago. What the fuck?

Seems like it was earlier this year.

Ruien 07-21-2015 08:54 AM

Pretty sure the thread you guys are thinking about is 6 pages long. Bill was let go earlier this year. The interim head trainer was not even Billy Gunn.

Seeing how Bill was in WWE2k15. This so did not happen in 2013

I'm a bit surprised about all these stories with Bill. He was actually pretty good a number of years ago. He formed a close bond with that 'Jonah' guy (who I thought was the most charismatic and over contestant). Perhaps Demott has become bitter over the years and resents the business more. Hence, the attitude?

It really isn't, though. It's a man-made construct meant to organize all our routines and everything in order not to go insane from chaotic, unorganized living.

There was a few people who also came out afterwards but the main guy who made all the claims against Demott is now doing the "Hollywood" thing which makes me question his original commitment to professional wrestling. Personally, I'm not the best person to ask in regards to "unfair treatment". I was a Marine and anyone who thinks hazing doesn't still happen, obviously has never been a Middle Eastern American serving in the United States Military. As far as the stuff he made them do.... I've taken 60 bumps in a row before, I've been thrown into the ring without being able to "properly warm up before". I've worked in shit ring with no padding and jagged metal sticking through the mat, hell one show had three people "no show" so guess who ended up working the entire second half of the show (with no "water breaks" or a chance to go to the back and cool off)..... and after all that I got paid like 40 bucks that night.

Jealous of not crying like a bitch because of a tough trainer? You think Itami didn't suffer worse training in Japan? How about Neville or Balor? If it was really his "dream" he would be still wrestling today..... not on "Big Brother"

I also remember when Hardcore Holly busted up Matt Cappotelli as to teach him a lesson, Demott was there for Cappotelli and helped console him on the couch.

Demott gave some great lessons to those kids as well (i.e. wrestlers on the road will push you, bully you, etc., but the 'bigger man' always swallows shit and keeps pushing forward rather than stooping down to someone's level).

It's a shame. Atleast around 2002-2003, Demott was actually a really good trainer. He wasn't as soft as Al Snow, but gave a great blend of tough love and emotional support.

Thank you, that's what I meant. I don't condone what Demott did, but I question someone's commitment to their supposed dream, if they're not willing to sacrifice everything for it.

https://www.facebook.com/JapanesePur...7773795983482/

This is an old training video of Antonio Inoki and the NJPW gym, and it's amazing. They're training in 100+ degree gym, doing the "deck of cards, push ups". The guy is bouncing up and down on Inoki's stomach (they're throwing 30 lb medicine balls off the second rope on each other, hitting their abs with massive clubs). One guy is sitting on Inoki's chest while he's doing neck bridges.... and for people who know about the NJPW, it was an HONOR to train like that with Inoki.
