too much wiggle, not enough beating Meng

Corndad 02-15-2013 12:31 PM

Piper? Don't think he ever won a Major World Title.

The Condor 02-15-2013 12:38 PM

Piper/Goldust. Goldust should have had even a short run, just to see how it would go down.

CSL 02-15-2013 12:40 PM

define world title, WWF/E and WCW?

Classy and Gassy 02-15-2013 12:40 PM

Jake Roberts- wouldve been a great heel champ

Slipped my mind.

NormanSmiley 02-15-2013 12:51 PM

defining the title i think is something for each poster to do on their own. I myself consider it the WWf title and wcw world title. but for some an AWA title may count, and ECW may count.

Shadrick 02-15-2013 12:55 PM

Piper.

CSL 02-15-2013 12:56 PM

Rick Rude, Ted DiBiase, Curt Hennig and Scott Hall for me

Corporate CockSnogger 02-15-2013 12:56 PM

Scott Hall, Billy Gunn.

Heisenberg 02-15-2013 12:56 PM

Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase
Rick Martel
Mr. Perfect

Heels that stood out in my childhood and should of had their run in the sun.

Mr. Perfect

CSL 02-15-2013 01:01 PM

Owen Hart

Shisen Kopf 02-15-2013 01:04 PM

British Bulldog

Savio 02-15-2013 01:40 PM

Chavo Guerrero has more world title runs than the Million Dollar Man

James Steele 02-15-2013 01:51 PM

Curt Hennig comes to kind first. Then Piper, Bulldog, Owen, and Jake Roberts.

I am thinking WWE and WCW Championships.

NormanSmiley 02-15-2013 02:02 PM

do you think curt's size or lack of was the only reason vince didnt have him go over Hogan? mr perfect was a hot heel especially with the genius sidekick where an interference caused pin for perfect would have been believable as hell at the time.

think it was more vince was still into the big bulky guys should have the title or more Hogan having pull then?

Just think was a bigger draw with the belt than chasing it.

Joesgonnakillyou 02-15-2013 02:18 PM

Piper is number 1 for me then Jake Roberts, Mr. Perfect and Rick Rude.

I suppose Scott Hall can go in there as well.

Supposedly he was real close before his last suspension :'(

whiteyford 02-15-2013 02:21 PM

Bigelow? Think he held the ECW belt though.

Emperor Smeat 02-15-2013 02:23 PM

Mr Perfect

Would Andre the Giant count?

He did "win" his match although DiBiase rigged the whole thing which ended up having Andre lose the belt and the match treated like it never occurred (ex. Jericho's and Ziggler's 1st reign).

Vastardikai 02-15-2013 03:18 PM

Didn't Hennig hold the AWA Title? If so, that did count as a World Title at one point (in the '70s and '80s)

A controversial Answer the question rather controversially: Barry Horrowitz.

I'd rather say William Regal

mike adamle 02-15-2013 03:26 PM

Easily Owen Hart, best pure wrestler ever.

RiX1024 02-15-2013 03:51 PM

Hennig, Rude, Bulldog, Owen, DiBiase, Regal, Jake Roberts, Piper, Orndorff, Hall too many top list.

he did but that belt was worthless by the time he got round to winning it

how do you think owen would have drawn as champion?

All of these guys, definitely.

mike adamle 02-15-2013 04:46 PM

If people like CM Punk and Daniel Bryan are getting the belt now then Owen should have gotten it as well. Preferably would've had him win the Submission match at Survivor Series 1994 instead of having Bob Backlund in there, although the match was still a classic in its own right.

Wishbone 02-15-2013 04:52 PM

Piper comes to mind first and foremost, but a lot of the people mentioned in this thread deserved it too.

Scott Hall.

Pardeep 619 02-15-2013 06:10 PM

It has to be either Roddy Piper, Million Dollar Man or Jake Roberts. Out of the 3 it would have to be Piper because he did great business when in the main events for WWE. Who knows where business would be today had it not been for Piper at Wrestlemania 1.

A lot of other people mentioned in this topic have won a World Title somewhere, whether it'd be in AWA or WCW.

Theo Dious 02-15-2013 07:50 PM

Probably Steamboat.

#1-norm-fan 02-15-2013 09:15 PM

Steamboat would be my choice if you don't count the NWA title.

I would definitely count the pre-WCW NWA title though so Piper or DiBiase.

CSL 02-15-2013 09:18 PM

yah, NWA is def a world title and even when Steamboat won it it was basically the WCW title

#1-norm-fan 02-15-2013 09:49 PM

Definitely.

Probably wouldn't count it now though.

#1-norm-fan 02-15-2013 09:50 PM

At least not in the spirit of this question.

Tazz Dan 02-15-2013 09:58 PM

Owen, Hennig, Piper, Hall.

It's kinda hard as time goes on and I don't see your face

Because the idea that there was a better talent to never hold a world title is ludicrous to me and it therefore displeases me that anyone would give any other answer. The subject is therefore not worth additional discussion in my eyes and I wish for you filthy insects to depart from my sight.

It’s probably not the most popular answer, but if 7/7 never happened, along with content on that night's episode of SmackDown!, I think Hassan would have become a world champ at some point.

Or IMHO he should have.

Have to remember by the time his Million Dollar Man character was created and he entered the world wrestling federation in 1984, Dibiase had already been in the business for 13 years, some of that magic and longevity with him was already gone. World Champion material, probably not, but definately a character that no one would ever forget and a fitting example to mic work, in ring psychology, and excellent delivery of story lines, by far Million Dollar Man goes into history as one of the most remembered and greatest heels in the business, that's hall of fame material but definately did not win him World Champion material for whatever reason.

Owen Hart wouldn't have drawn shit as much as I loved him

No friggen way should the WWF have taken the belt off Hogan and put it on Perfect. Pretty sure they did the house show circuit and it didn't draw.

Owen Hart wouldnt have drawn nearly as much as Bret. The greatest Canadian of all time.

I could have sworn this was so, but I looked it up and apparently not. I think I was getting thrown off due to his Starrcade win over Hogan when Hogan was champion, but it was a non-title match, which was retarded as hell.

Yea, there was like 3 matches where Piper beat Hogan and walked way with the title... but none of the matches were for the World Title. I didn't understand it either.

Did Bob Backlund draw in his 3 or 4 days as champion? Honestly replacing Backlund with Owen in that wouldn't have changed a damn thing except give Owen a World Title reign on his resume.
