Paul Bearer passes away

One of the most iconic figures of the wrestling business in the '90s. He was one of my favourite non wrestling personalities of all time. May he rest in peace.

Nark Order 03-05-2013 11:29 PM

Man.

HTrain90 03-05-2013 11:30 PM

Just heard this myself. :(

Rest in peace, Paul. One of the great figures of my childhood in wrestling. Ooooooh yes!

dronepool 03-05-2013 11:31 PM

Damn, we made a thread almost at the same time... RIP :(

Wonder what happened?

slik 03-05-2013 11:32 PM

My condolences to his family and friends.

Shadrick 03-05-2013 11:37 PM

I saw the news and my mouth dropped. Man. This sucks. He was one of the first figures that I remember being such a unique character when I started watching wrestling.

Lock Jaw 03-05-2013 11:39 PM

RIP

One of my favorite managers ever.

It was him turning on Undertaker at Summerslam that was the event that got me "back" into wrestling. I had kind of fallen out of it and was only half paying attention.... but then I remember being "shocked" at Paul Bearer's turn, and wanted to see what was going to happen next. I've been watching wrestling without missing a step since.

Corndad 03-05-2013 11:39 PM

Wow. Didn't know he was sick. Sad news. Lots of memories growing up with him and Taker. RIP

This gives true meaning to being in a better place, he was heartbroken for the last 4 years when he lost his wife, Dianna to cancer. Glad he is back with her now

RIP Paul Bearer

Raven Reaper 03-05-2013 11:47 PM

The Ministry of Darkness... Like Kane said "He's like a father figure to me and my "brother." That gets me chills. :(

the irony of being a pallbearer at Paul Bearer's funeral

Keith 03-05-2013 11:59 PM

I am one sick individual. I learned of Paul Bearer's passing, and immediately went over to his Twitter account, just to read his last tweets.

PS: By the way, his Twitter account is: https://twitter.com/wweURNiverse

If so, his family's gonna save a whole lot of money.

I guarantee you that the WWE won't do that because The Undertaker would shit a brick and beat Vince over the head with it.

They will.

It might be too soon emotionally for a lot of the wrestlers (and William's loved ones) for it to happen this year, but it is definitely something that will happen in the future.

Disturbed316 03-06-2013 01:19 AM

Very surprised to hear this, so sad. Easily one of the greatest characters ever.

James Steele 03-06-2013 01:23 AM

Paul Bearer's voice got a pop at MSG. Paul Bearer was a large part of Undertaker and Kane's characters.

So weird, in all the years, this past week I youtubed the Judgement Day Taker/Kane match where Bearer turned on Kane, and I had nostalgia for the Bearer/Kane promo days...so watched a few of those amazing promos he did back then. Now he's dead.

One of the most gifted people to ever be involved in wrestling. Literally, everytime I see a manager, I always compare them to Bearer, who has always been the gold standard in my book. RIP Bearer, and thank you for entertaining me when I was a kid and providing all wrestling fans with some of the best moments in sports entertainment.

Bad News Gertner 03-06-2013 02:44 AM

Did not know this until today. Watch the Corentte/Bearer shoot, but I guess Paul Bearer and Sunny had massive heat with each other to the point Vince appointed Cornette to keep the peace between them. Pretty funny story that Paul tells.

Enjoy

One of the best, it doesn't even need to be said. If you think "manager" in a wrestling context, there's a good chance Paul Bearer would be the first or second you would think of. That's an icon.

There aren't enough characters in a tweet to acknowledge all the wrestlers who've died young.

And then what about saying hi to Stu, or to Benoit, or Eddy.

I think you're slightly over-reading the tweet. It's an instantaneous response to some news, and probably the first thing he thought about when he heard the news was Owen.

I don't think he was related to Pillman.

Nah, big difference between a guy who's on camera every week surviving a heart attack being used for heat (with his permission) and a guy who just died.

RIP Paul Bearer. I heard a couple of podcasts of him, and he sound like an awesome person, like you could just approach him and talk wrestling, and he'd talk.

He is truely the last great manager in sports entertainment.

Alot of great memories on this thread, and I will always remember the moments he had with Bobby "The Brain" Heenan on Prime Time Wrestling. There was some funny moments on that show.

Hopefully Undertaker brings Paul Bearer's urn with him to WrestleMania and pours the ashes out in the middle of the ring like Paul would have wanted.

mike adamle 03-07-2013 08:23 PM

Although now that I think about it more it'd be pretty heel for Undertaker to come out on Raw with Paul Bearer's urn only to have CM Punk steal it. And then when Taker beats Punk at WrestleMania he can take back the urn and pour Paul's ashes down Punk's throat.
