Paul Bearer passes away
One of the most iconic figures of the wrestling business in the '90s. He was one of my favourite non wrestling personalities of all time. May he rest in peace.
|
Man.
|
Just heard this myself. :(
Rest in peace, Paul. One of the great figures of my childhood in wrestling. Ooooooh yes! |
Damn, we made a thread almost at the same time... RIP :(
Wonder what happened? |
My condolences to his family and friends.
:( |
RIP
|
*In Undertaker's voice and wearing the black hat* *Lowers head*
REST....................IN...............................PEAAAAACE. :( |
I saw the news and my mouth dropped. Man. This sucks. He was one of the first figures that I remember being such a unique character when I started watching wrestling.
|
RIP
One of my favorite managers ever. It was him turning on Undertaker at Summerslam that was the event that got me "back" into wrestling. I had kind of fallen out of it and was only half paying attention.... but then I remember being "shocked" at Paul Bearer's turn, and wanted to see what was going to happen next. I've been watching wrestling without missing a step since. |
Wow. Didn't know he was sick. Sad news. Lots of memories growing up with him and Taker. RIP
|
:wavesad: RIP

Whoa I just heard him on a podcast too a couple days ago
|
Wow, this took me by surprise.
So sad. |
<font color=goldenrod>Fuck. :( RIP.</font>
|
This gives true meaning to being in a better place, he was heartbroken for the last 4 years when he lost his wife, Dianna to cancer. Glad he is back with her now
RIP Paul Bearer |
The Ministry of Darkness... Like Kane said "He's like a father figure to me and my "brother." That gets me chills. :(
|
the irony of being a pallbearer at Paul Bearer's funeral
|
I am one sick individual. I learned of Paul Bearer's passing, and immediately went over to his Twitter account, just to read his last tweets.
PS: By the way, his Twitter account is: https://twitter.com/wweURNiverse |

Was just watching a shoot video on youtube with him and Cornette today. Very sad.

If so, his family's gonna save a whole lot of money. Sorry, Paul :'( |
RIP Paul Bearer

Goodbye to a good friend, Paul Bearer. Say hi to Owen for me. |
Taker it Easy, Paul Bearer.
|
Possibly my favourite manager of all time, a damn nice guy who always had time to interact with his fans and I'm honoured to have met him at Axxess 2011. :( RIP William/Paul/Percy.
|
CM Punk comes out to start RAW next week
... 'PAUL BEARER WOULD RATHER DIE THAN WATCH ME BEAT YOU' ... internet implodes (I could see WWE doing that) |
Damn. RIP Paul
|
Fuck. RIP.
I hope they induct him into the Hall of Fame. |

It might be too soon emotionally for a lot of the wrestlers (and William's loved ones) for it to happen this year, but it is definitely something that will happen in the future. |
Very surprised to hear this, so sad. Easily one of the greatest characters ever.
|
Paul Bearer's voice got a pop at MSG. Paul Bearer was a large part of Undertaker and Kane's characters.

So weird, in all the years, this past week I youtubed the Judgement Day Taker/Kane match where Bearer turned on Kane, and I had nostalgia for the Bearer/Kane promo days...so watched a few of those amazing promos he did back then. Now he's dead.
One of the most gifted people to ever be involved in wrestling. Literally, everytime I see a manager, I always compare them to Bearer, who has always been the gold standard in my book. RIP Bearer, and thank you for entertaining me when I was a kid and providing all wrestling fans with some of the best moments in sports entertainment. |
Did not know this until today. Watch the Corentte/Bearer shoot, but I guess Paul Bearer and Sunny had massive heat with each other to the point Vince appointed Cornette to keep the peace between them. Pretty funny story that Paul tells.

Absolutely tragic news.
Bearer was my favorite manager. RIP Paul Bearer. |
really, Gertner, one of the greatest managers of all time passes away and you leave this on my rep sheet? That should be ban worthy
<table class="tborder" align="center" border="0" cellpadding="6" cellspacing="1" width="100%"><tbody id="collapseobj_usercp_reputation"><tr><td class="alt2">http://www.tpww.net/forums/images/re...tation_neg.gif</td> <td class="alt1Active" id="p413993313289" width="50%"> Paul Bearer passes away </td> <td class="alt2" nowrap="nowrap">03-06-2013 04:01 AM</td> <td class="alt1" nowrap="nowrap"> Gertner </td> <td class="alt2" width="50%">Paul Bearer's corpse is better looking than your niggerstain ass</td></tr></tbody></table> |
Yup. I imagine I should. Buuuuut I won't sunshine. Want a kiss?
|
Really sad news. He was a huge part of The Undertaker's character, he might not have got as over as he did and achieved as much without Bearer.
|
His shoot with Cornette is on youtube and well worth listening to. Those two are fascinating together.
|
Still remember this from when I was a kid

By 1994 I was in full-on mark mode and this was one of the coolest things I had ever seen

He should be in be inducted into the Paul of Fame along with Heyman and Orndorff. Come on WWE, it's a-Paul-ing he ain't in there. RIPS and high fives to him.
|
Ohhhhhh noooooo!
This is horrrible news. RIP Paul. :( |
Very sad, a little bit more of childhood moves away. 58 is no age really.
|
:(
|
Damn, thought this was fake when I first heard it. RIP
|
WWE should get a hologram of him (like the 2pac one) for Taker's entrance at Mania, would be a nice touch.
|
Let us not forget Kane, he lost his father :(
|
Loved Paul Bearer, he always freaked my mom out.
I would not be shocked if Punk made comment about it before Mania. |
RIP
Probably the last great manager and the greatest of the 90s. |
RIP Paul Bearer.

Wonder why Brett wouldn't say hi to Brian Pillman or British Bulldog too..

One of the best, it doesn't even need to be said. If you think "manager" in a wrestling context, there's a good chance Paul Bearer would be the first or second you would think of. That's an icon.
|
Taker needs to bring the urn with him to Mania 29.

Also, the are enough characters to say "say hello to Owen Bulldog and Brian".. |
I'm guessing Bret was closer to Owen and mentioned Owen because that was his brother guys...

I think you're slightly over-reading the tweet. It's an instantaneous response to some news, and probably the first thing he thought about when he heard the news was Owen. I don't think he was related to Pillman. |

RIP Paul Bearer. I heard a couple of podcasts of him, and he sound like an awesome person, like you could just approach him and talk wrestling, and he'd talk.
He is truely the last great manager in sports entertainment. Alot of great memories on this thread, and I will always remember the moments he had with Bobby "The Brain" Heenan on Prime Time Wrestling. There was some funny moments on that show. |

This was sad news to wake up to today.
One of the best. They'll never be another one like Paul Bearer. R.I.P. :( |

One of the best and most down to earth men I've ever met; he was amazing to work with and full of so much knowledge for the younger generations. He had one of the greatest senses of Humor ever.

|
I can't believe in his whole career he only had one match, usually managers have a handful of matches, and he was a superb manager
|
Fuck. I had a lousy day at work and I came home to this. This sucks.
Thanks for the memories, Paul. Rest in Peace. |
Saw this last night. Really depressed me. He's truly one of the greatest there was.
Definitely a "legit" Hall of Famer. |
Terrible news. RIP.
One of his last tweets - Paul Bearer @wweURNiverse Let's put the top on February my Twitter friends. May we all be blessed moving into the month of March. Goodnight. |
:(
I can't say how much this saddens me He was so awesome. R.I.P |

I hope they do something classy in honor of him on Monday Night. Paul Bearer may be the 2nd most recognizable manager in WWE history behind only Bobby Heenan.
|
It is a shame that there is a whole generation that has no idea about Bobby Heenan.
|
I am shocked to hear this.
I also really enjoyed his mama's boy gimmick in Florida/WCCW. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/oqgieN4ag0Y?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/TA6Nzu8aubE?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

Supposedly it was a blood clot to his lungs - pulmonary embolism. Geez, was he never caught for having this and wasn't on blood thinners?
|
Don't know how wide-spread the coverage is, but one of the local news stations covered his death last night.

Hopefully Undertaker brings Paul Bearer's urn with him to WrestleMania and pours the ashes out in the middle of the ring like Paul would have wanted.
|
Although now that I think about it more it'd be pretty heel for Undertaker to come out on Raw with Paul Bearer's urn only to have CM Punk steal it. And then when Taker beats Punk at WrestleMania he can take back the urn and pour Paul's ashes down Punk's throat.
