Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014)

Plot Synopsis for the Mark Wahlberg starring film...

Quote:

As humanity picks up the pieces, following the conclusion of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Autobots and Decepticons have all but vanished from the face of the planet. However, a group of powerful, ingenious businessman and scientists attempt to learn from past Transformer incursions and push the boundaries of technology beyond what they can control – all while an ancient, powerful Transformer menace sets Earth in his crosshairs. The epic adventure and battle between good and evil, freedom and enslavement ensues.

Kalyx triaD 03-21-2013 01:46 AM

I'm so there.

Kane Knight 03-21-2013 02:00 AM

Is Michael Bay involved?

Kalyx triaD 03-21-2013 03:37 AM

He's directing for the last time.

Kane Knight 03-21-2013 08:27 AM

Don't tease me.

DaveBrawl 03-21-2013 08:31 AM

Mark Wahlberg and Optimus Prime? I am all in.

XCaliber 03-21-2013 12:14 PM

That sounds like Unicron to me but I hope they don't screw him up royally like they did with Galactus in Fantastic Four.

Kalyx triaD 03-21-2013 04:19 PM

Unlikely. Big robots remain big robots in the movies.

Fox 03-21-2013 05:35 PM

Think we'll see the Dinobots?

Kalyx triaD 03-21-2013 05:39 PM

Probably not, they were fairly clear on why they avoided them. And the best possible reason (Shockwave) was killed off in the last movie. They'd have to come up with something to add them, and Bay himself won't be the guy to do it. Maybe in T5 with a new director. Spielberg will be down regardless, I imagine.

Fignuts 03-22-2013 01:57 AM

They god damn well better add the dinobots in one of these movies.

Kalyx triaD 03-22-2013 01:58 AM

What about Predacons? They're getting a big push in the brand this year. Animal forms seem to be a thing for Hasbro going forward so who knows.

YOUR Hero 03-22-2013 10:15 AM

the last one was the only one I found manageable to watch

VSG 03-23-2013 02:09 AM

Unicron, is that you?

GD 03-23-2013 04:36 AM

Say hello to your mother for me.

VSG 03-23-2013 05:31 AM

Just did.

Maybe they should shoehorn them in via studio mandate. It worked out pretty well for Venom, right?

Kalyx triaD 03-23-2013 03:42 PM

In a franchise that lives on product placement, that would be easy.

If they do to Predaking to what they did to Devastator no thanks although his face in the G1 series could have been so much cooler.

You make it sound as though Transformers has some sort of...Merchandising empire or something.

Kalyx triaD 03-24-2013 01:20 AM

I seen a happy meal for them so I think they get around.

DaveBrawl 05-30-2013 03:41 PM

Much better.

Miotch 05-30-2013 04:19 PM

Optimus needed more flames. Yes. That's what he needed.

christ

Kalyx triaD 05-30-2013 04:46 PM

Not too crazy about B.

DaveBrawl 05-30-2013 04:51 PM

They should go with the 80's IROC look. That would be hot.

NOTE: One of the big new ones may indeed be Grimlock.

Asmo 05-31-2013 06:02 AM

Which one is the Bugatti?

Kalyx triaD 05-31-2013 06:37 AM

New Autobot, presumably.

Kalyx triaD 05-31-2013 06:59 PM

The military truck under Optimus is confirmed as Hound.

Fignuts 06-01-2013 03:51 AM

That's ....interesting.

Rammsteinmad 06-01-2013 12:36 PM

How many "ancient, evil overlords of doom" are there? And why do they keep coming to Earth?

Fignuts 06-01-2013 01:24 PM

For Chalupas?

Kalyx triaD 06-01-2013 04:22 PM

Actually I've read that may bite the bullet and upgrade Megatron to Galvatron already. The theme seems to be new forms, plus it alludes to the only big bad yet to appear.

Fignuts 06-02-2013 04:01 AM

Straxus?

Kalyx triaD 06-02-2013 04:36 AM

...No.

parkmania 06-03-2013 08:12 AM

So frustrated with all the Bayformer movies. Can't tell one 'bot from the next when they're in robot mode unless they speak. Next to no plot. And while this is announced as MB's final film in the series as director, he is staying on as producer for the 2nd and 3rd in this new trilogy, which means his footprint is still gonna be all over them.

Kalyx triaD 06-03-2013 09:19 AM

I can totally tell one bot from the next in their humanoid forms. Don't be dramatic. And the plot's about as good as the cartoons and recent games, ie some series of events to sell toys and entertain.

Fignuts 06-03-2013 01:17 PM

Actually I would say the Cybertron games have been much better.

I'm not being dramatic, I honestly can't tell one grey mass of cables from the next.

Kalyx triaD 06-04-2013 03:38 PM

Perhaps the kibs of their vehicle forms should clue you in. They tend to be fairly colorful. But whatever.

Gotta admit I struggle as well.

Kalyx triaD 07-02-2013 09:47 PM

Combaticon, MOTOR MASTER:

http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/18sm...g/k-bigpic.jpg

Well, most likely Motor Master. The presence of Combaticons is heavily rumored since there's an unusual amount of Decepticon automobiles spotted on set. The original Combaticon concept, aside from bringing more combiners onto toy shelves, was having Decepticons with traditionally Autobot vehicle modes. (Similarly the Aerialbots, another combiner group that launched the same time, were Autobots with traditionally Decepticon vehicle modes)

There is a most interesting rumor that the truck is actually reborn Megatron as Galvatron, but Galvatron was rumored for the last two movies and he never shows.

One last reveal! We seen Bee returning to a vintage Camaro in an earlier reveal, but it seems he'll once again have an upgrade like the first movie. Behold!

DaveBrawl 07-03-2013 08:38 AM

I hope that's just for the new movie and not a redesign for the Camaro.

KIRA 07-03-2013 09:03 AM

I'd have to get over wanting Micheal Bay to die in order to see this.

You gotta admit though when they fight it looks like a goddamn cgi etch a sketch.

parkmania 07-03-2013 06:30 PM

I've got dibs on the black semi being Nemesis Prime.

XCaliber 07-03-2013 06:33 PM

Could be Ultra Magnus for all I know he did look similar to Optimus under the armor only white.

Kalyx triaD 07-03-2013 07:11 PM

That truck was seen chasing Optimus in a shoot. It's a villain for sure.

Kalyx triaD 07-07-2013 03:17 PM

Met Gary Chalk, the voice of Beast Wars' Optimus Primal at the con yesterday. I had no idea he'd be there so I was fairly hype at the time. I told him I was one of the kids who had to 'get over' hearing him instead of Peter Cullen but his Optimus grew on me as Beast Wars went on. He did Primal's phrase, "That's just Prime," and I went on my way!

slik 09-03-2013 08:31 PM

'Transformers: Age of Extinction' is the official title.

Kalyx triaD 09-03-2013 09:59 PM

Dinobots should be interesting.

whiteyford 09-05-2013 12:53 PM

Can see this ending up like GI Joe for me where I wait until the Blu ray release before I show any interest, get less enthused every time there's new info.

Kalyx triaD 10-10-2013 05:47 PM

Prime's new robot form is badass.

this movie....looks terrible.

Kalyx triaD 02-03-2014 05:06 AM

Optimus rides a huge cybertronian t-rex. End of discussion.

Krimzon7 02-03-2014 11:26 AM

If Grimlock doesn't Try to eat Optimus at any point, this movie is a complete and utter fucking failure.

This movie is a complete and utter fucking failure.

Exactly. Terrible.

whiteyford 02-03-2014 02:51 PM

Shoulda stopped with the 80s animated movie, the only way was downhill after that.

Kalyx triaD 02-03-2014 03:08 PM

That's crazy.

DaveBrawl 02-03-2014 03:47 PM

Mark Wahlberg. This movie has my ticket guaranteed.

parkmania 02-04-2014 06:57 AM

The head on that still of Dinobot looks like it takes some cues from Beast Wars Megatron Transmetal 1:

JimmyMess 03-04-2014 10:12 PM

so is this in the future? Like years and years after the Shia Lebooofffff movies?

Kalyx triaD 03-04-2014 10:30 PM

3/4 years, yeah. Almost real time, really.

JimmyMess 03-04-2014 10:50 PM

ahh, so not as extreme as I had thought.

mitch_h 03-05-2014 01:56 PM

I feel like a dinosaur isn't a better disguise than a robot.

ClockShot 03-05-2014 01:59 PM

Yeah. Unless there's some "ME GRIMLOCK KING!" being said, I'll probably pass on this.

Still want my Triplechangers, too.

Kalyx triaD 03-05-2014 04:20 PM

Grimlock isn't hiding.

Raven Reaper 03-07-2014 09:14 PM

I was expecting a Beast Wars Transformers crossover!!! Ahhh, childhood memories. Rattrap, Cheetor, Dino-Bot, Black Aracnia, Inferno, etc.. Damn, too many Maximals and Predacons nerdgasm overload!!!

I wonder what is the function of a mechanical, iron tongue...

Hanso Amore 04-23-2014 06:30 PM

so has anyone been able to get any details on an actual plot?

Kalyx triaD 04-23-2014 06:45 PM

Military made all Transformers enemies of the state since the battle at Chicago, any surviving Autobots went into hiding. Humans are producing their own Transformers, including Galvatron. All the while a badass Decepticon(?) named Lockdown has come to Earth to presumably do very bad things.

DaveBrawl 04-23-2014 09:32 PM

And Mark Wahlberg must save us all.

Kalyx triaD 04-23-2014 10:08 PM

That too.
